Where Is My Bookmarks Library on Firefox 29.0.1?

How do I get to my Bookmarks Library in Firefox 29.0.1? When I click on the Bookmark Icon at the top, all I see is "View Bookmarks Sidebar," then below that, "Bookmarks Toolbar," "Unsorted Bookmarks," "Recent Tags," and "Recently Bookmarked." I don't see what I'm supposed to click on to open my Library of Bookmarks so that I can sort them all like I used to do. Thanks for the help!

Hello BlackSheepNY
Do you wish to seem them as folders on your browser? If so, just place your mouse by your tabs and right click and check "Bookmarks Toolbar."
Alternatively, you can choose "Show All Bookmarks" and organize away in that interface.

  • Firefox Bookmark Library's new bookmark function creates a pop-up that is wider than my monitor

The new bookmark function listed under the organize option of Bookmark Library for Firefox (versions 28 and 29) creates a pop-up that is wider than my monitor. I have to slide the pop-up to the left in order to get to the buttons on the right side.

    Hi bob46,
The Firefox bookmark function, the bookmark button opens a menu to view bookmarks. However this is version 29 not 28. Can you please show a screenshot of this? [[How do I create a screenshot of my problem?]]

Firefox bookmarks are stored in one file named '''places.sqlite''' in your Profile folder.

  • Why doesn't the bookmarks library have the ability to sort the columns by "folder" (The subdirectory folder they are stored within)? Would Firefox please add?

Basically inside the bookmarks library, when searching for a particular bookmark, there is no way to display which folder that bookmark is saved to.
It has been very frustrating to not be able to do this because I'm a guy that has probably 2000+ bookmarks for reference and if I want to be able to move the bookmarks or confirm they are in the folder I wish, I would like a way to be able to search for them and have it not just show their location as a web address but ALSO as where they are saved. Perhaps name that new column "Folder" like Microsoft does in windows when you display a folder in the "Detail" view you know?
    Thanks!

  • After i search for an item in my bookmarks, how do I get Firefox to show me where in my bookmarks the item is located?

after i search for a bookmark, i'd like the ability to right-click on the search result and have it display where it actually is in my bookmark list. does Firefox already have some way of doing this? if not, it's a feature i'd like to see added. thanks.

I'll try the add-on, but it seems burdensome to the system to have to use a bunch of those, no?

    Where is the bookmarks stored?
I Install the Firefox once again since I upgrade my computer.
And I try to move the bookmarks from the old computer to the new one.
But I can't find anyone of them.
Is there any folder just like "favourite" to store the html file?
I really want to find out the bookmarks because actually i can't remember all the website that are important to me~ URGENT!!!~THANKS~

You can move file named places.sqlite from your old profile to the new one. It contains bookmarks and browsing history.
Here's a knowledge base article about it: [[Recovering important data from an old profile]]
If you don't care about saving your current bookmarks, you can skip creating new profile (Firefox does it by itself at first run anyway).
I'd might suggest you to install addon https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2410/|Xmarks Bookmark and Password Sync]. It is a free web service which synchronizes bookmarks and (optionally) passwords with central server, and then to other computers, if you installed it on more. You may treat is as a backup too.

  • Firefox 19 MISSING Bookmarks Library's Search filter feature, why?

    Good Day,
Has anyone else noticed the following issue?:
    Re Firefox 19.0 Bug/Broken Feature
MISSING Bookmarks Library's Search filter feature.
ie: select "Show All Bookmarks" => enter a search string in 'Search Bookmarks' eg:win
    => MISSING "Search in:" filter(s)
This has been present in all previous Firefox versions before 19.0, and it is a VERY VALUABLE feature.
    Any ideas/suggestions?
    Thank You Very Much,
    Roberta

  • How does one change the font size for folders and/or file lists in the Bookmarks Library?

How does one change the font size for folders and/or file lists in the '''Bookmarks''' Library?
Since the upgrade to version 9.0.1 of Firefox, the Bookmarks feature changes are confusing me. They seem to be confusing themselves as well. The list of bookmarks has changed. The font size is so small that my aging eyes cannot read it without fogging the screen with my breath. Some folders are out of alphabetical order (where I know they were previously good), and some are missing altogether (folders to which I frequently add references).
As for missing or deranged files or folders, was there something that I should have done or now need to do to recover those after the upgrade (or before)?
    With regard to font size,
    1. there is no “Edit Bookmarks” or like option to edit the list in this version
    2. the “zoom” option in the “view” list of functions is greyed out when in “Show All Bookmarks” window
    3. expanding the browser window has no effect on font size
    4. “Preferences” settings for font size has no effect in that window either, including advanced settings
    5. “Help” offers none that I can find.
    Can any of you Help?!?

    Maybe this extension helps:

  • Search parameters/ filters for bookmark library

    Hi,
Does Firefox's bookmark library search bar support any kind of search parameters or exclusion filters? For example, infolder:Blogs.
My search results are always distorted by the RSS feeds that I subscribe to. That's why I'm trying to filter them out, either by filtering out the entire "bookmarks toolbar" folder (where I keep all the feeds) or to filter out bookmarks of type RSS if possible.
Would appreciate advice on this; there seems to be little information on this.

  • Where is "organize bookmarks" now?

You just made it impossible to remove unwanted sites from "bookmark"- i.e., the "organize bookmarks" item is now gone.
Why? More important, how do I delete bookmarked items I no longer want?

    "Organize Bookmarks" was changed to "'''Show All Bookmarks'''" and they weren't happy with that so they were going to change it but I haven't seen anything more on that, probably won't get changed for some time because they really messed people up -- the ones that have no idea of where to ask for help. You can use the same methods that you used before, perhaps even improve them from the following two articles;
    * [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Sorting_and_rearranging_bookmarks_-_Firefox Sorting and rearranging bookmarks - Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base]
    * [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Viewing_the_browsing_history_-_Firefox Viewing the browsing history - Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base]
Selecting, searching, and deleting is best described in the History article, and the Bookmarks article refers to those sections on the History article -- perhaps redundancy would have been better.
You have several choices for bringing up the Bookmarks Library Listing (directons on Windows)
    # "Ctrl+Shift+B" using the keyboard shortcut
    # "Firefox" button > Bookmarks (2nd column) > Show All bookmarks

  • How can I have 2 bookmark library windows for organization? (or split screens)

To organize my bookmarks in a faster and more efficient way. I would like to be able to have 2 bookmark library windows open or the possibility to split the screen. So I can drag & drop bookmarks from one folder to another without having to cut/paste and to scroll from bottom
to top or top to bottom (when having long lists of folders).
I remember being able to do this a few years earlier with previous
    versions of firefox or netscape.
Mustn't be that hard to have this possibility.
    No existing add-ons either.

You can use the chrome URLs:

  • Where is the bookmarks.html file ?

My customers PC crashed. I try to copy the Bookmarks to a new PC. I can not find the right bookmarks.html file, only the default and th bookmarkbackups directory with those *.json files.
BTW: is there some intelligible reason, why the bookmark file of Firefox as well as the mail-directories in Thunderbird are in a directory structure hidden from the user ?!

Hiding the appdata or roaming path in Windows is Microsoft's doing, not Mozilla. Other than IE, every other browser I have ever used has stored bookmarks in their own set of folders in the appdata or roaming file path.
The bookmarks.html file hasn't been used for storing since the Firefox 2.0 versions, in later versions it is used to install the default bookmarks primarily when the user creates a new Profile and upon the initial installation of Firefox, and it also is part of the process of "importing" bookmarks from other browsers the user may have installed.
The '''places.sqlite''' file is where bookmarks and browsing history is stored in Firefox 3.0 and later versions.

  • The bar directly located under the main bar where the edit, bookmark, etc is gone. How do I get it back.

Under the The blue mozilla firefox bar, where the Edit, bookmark, etc is missing. I was playing around one day and deleted it. i really need it to continue bookmarking and editing and copying text.

In Firefox 3.6 and later on Windows you can hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu on a toolbar.
Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

  • Could the folder in which a bookmark is in be included as an additional field in the bookmark library on future updates?

I think it would be really useful on searches, particularly for intensive bookmarks users such as myself, that an additional information field was available for selection on the bookmark library (in addition to "Name", "Tags", "Location", "Visit count"...) to locate the folder in which a bookmark is in (in addition to the way described here: [[http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How%20to%20find%20which%20folder%20a%20bookmark%20is%20in?s=bookmarks+folder+search&as=s]]). An option to go to that folder in the menu that appears when right-clicking a bookmark would be very handy too. That kind of functionality can be found on Chrome as reference, and although I have gone back to Firefox as my main browser after a time evaluating Chrome, I think some of these features would be worth implementing in future Firefox updates.
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask for these improvements, but I haven't found any section dedicated to collect this kind of suggestions.
