  • Cant delete backup in iTunes or Windows 7

iTunes says that me backup file is corrupt and that I have to delete it to backup my iPhone 3GS. Trying to delete the backup, but itunes has no backup file and windows 7 has no appdata file! Any help would be great. Btw I sync to the cloud, is this an issue?

    Does it charge?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try another cable
    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.

  • HT1414 Where us my previous backup in iTunes

I had did the new iOS6 upgrade and it crashed my entire phone. I had the iTunes sign and plug into iTunes on the front of my phone. I called apple and they said all I can do is restore my phone. I had done a backup in iTunes a few weeks previous to this incident but for some reason I cannot find it. It's as if I never backed up my phone on iTunes. Someone told me always to do a backup so if something like this happened u would still have all your pictures an contacts etc from your last backup. My phone has a new name it used to be karmas iPhone on the side in iTunes when I plugged it in and now it's called something else. I then tried to restore it again but I didn't get that backup back. Why can I not find it.?! I'm so frustrated I had a lot of my baby girls pictures an I am desperate to get this backup back ... I don't understand what happened to it? As well I'm not using an apple computer just a regular PC. Hopefully someone can help. Thanks :)

Are you saying that you have previously connected your iPhone to your iTunes Account on your laptop or desktop computer?  If that is the case, you should be able to re-connected your iPhone to your PC and access your previous data.  Take a look on your iPhone and go to Settings and then down to iTunes and App Store and click on that line so that it takes you to the next screen.  You should see your correct Apple ID.  If you do, then connect your iPhone to your PC and it should automatically open iTunes.  Look in the left hand column when iTunes shows your connected iPhone.  See if the correct iPhone Name is showing.  If not then it is seeing the phone as a separate device sharing the iTunes Account.  You still should be able to see all your content even if certain Apps for example are not checked for sync.

  • Where is the delete button in iTunes?

Is there no longer any way to delete songs in iTunes (12.1)? I used to be able to right-click on anything in my library and there would be an option to delete, but that option simply isn't in the menu anymore. This is a problem as I'm going to have duplicates when importing new music and being unable to delete old versions of the same songs.

how to recover a deleted itunes backup files?????

I assume that your iTunes Media folder is located on your MBP in the default folder location. In your process to recover the missing movie file, did you first open the iTunes media folder where your movies are stored BEFORE opening the Time Machine interface?

  • Deleting Backups in iTunes, none shown

    Hey people,
I'm told to delete my backups so my phone can update my library.
When I go to Edit>Preferences>Devices however, there is nothing in the box.
I'm using Windows 7, and this issue comes up a lot.
    Anyone got a fix?

Might this be the problem -- described in the attached article "Unable to restore from backup of a newer device":
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3682
Also, are you running iTunes 10.7?  That is required for iOS 6.

  • DELETING BACKUP

    Hello.
I am having great difficulty deleting  a backup I no longer require in the iCloud.  Keeps saying it's being used to restore another device but it isn't!  Have tried a number of different methods including my PC and the original phone but no luck.  Can anyone help?!

    Hello Plazmakidz,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
You can find and delete backups via iTunes Preferences or in a Windows Explorer window. For this case, let's just stick with iTunes. Head to *Edit -> Preferences*. When the window pops up, head over to the Devices tab where you'll find a list of your stored backups. Go ahead and click on any of them (usually there is only one listed) to highlight it and then select the *Delete Backup* button.

  • Problem Deleting BackUps

I need to make more room for backups on my system.  I open the utility and go to where it says delete backups.  I check one date and it deletes it.   I reboot and that backup is there again.  I've tried several times with the same result.
Why would this be happening ?  I have a M92p with an i-7 if that is relevant...
    Thanks.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I fixed it myself, it was a simple fix.  I didn't realize that the app. needed an update.  After that it worked smooth and how it was suppose to.

  • Time Machine "Delete Backup" Status window

    Hey all,
I am trying to delete an old backup inside Time Machine - did the old-fasioned way by "conjuring" the time machine with the stacked Finder windows on a starfield.
I arrowed up to the oldest backup and on the Action (with the gear symbol) dropdown I selected "Delete Backup".  I get a confirmation prompt to "delete the selected backup" and I hit "Yes".  Then....  where is the "Delete Backup" status window?
I know "delete backup" would take a while just like the backup process - however , at least we see the backup status on the Time Machine Preferences window.  It seems like the Time Machine Preference window only shows the backup status.  Could someone share how we could bring up the "Delete Backup" status window?
    Thanks!

Unfortunately (or fortunately) the delete backup had completed by the time I saw this message
I went back to the Time Machine starfield windows and I no longer see the oldest backup (I noted down the date of the oldest backup).
Next time when I do another "delete backup"  I'll look for that "spinning gear at the bottom right" as you indicated.   I assume that is a "hovering" spinning gear that is separate from the desktop dock?   If you have a screenshot (its ok if you don't)  that would be great - thanks again for the reply.  This will help anyone who might be looking for the same answer as I am.

any help would be appreciated.. thanks in advanced

    Hi,
If you are syncing via iTunes then you can open the Preferences and goto the Devices tab.
Within this tab you will see a list of all the device backups.
All you need to do is click on a backup and click the Delete Backup button.
This will remove all the files from your computer.
    Hope this helps.

  • While syncing iphone to itunes I get this warning- "Itunes cannot backup iphone because backup was corrupt or not compatible with iphone. Delete backup and retry. How do I do this?

How do I delete the current backup file of iphone in itunes?

(This is a really old thread, but I'm answering anyhow because I see 11 "I have this question too!" )
If you go to the iTunes Preferences menu, there should be a "Devices" tab. In the Devices section, you'll see a list of all of your devices' backups and you can delete the problematic one.
If you don't see the backup, see the section "Where Your Backups Are Stored" on this support page: Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes - Apple Support
