Where is my file saved?

I'm running Windows Vista 64. I create a project in Photoshop CS. I save it. The file is stored in this path: C/Program Files x86/Adobe/Photoshop CS. If Photoshop is running and I click on Open, then navigate to this location the file appears and will open.
However, if I try to navigate to the file by starting with My Computer and going to the exact same location as specified above the file does not appear. I've tried searching for it via Search, going through my entire computer and got nothing. And worse, sometimes I will Save a file in Photoshop and then go back to it a few days later and it is not there.
I think the problem is where Photoshop actually saves the file. My 1st scratch disk is set to Startup. What does this mean? Is this dictating where Photoshop is saving the actual file? Why won't it show up via Search? It is driving me insane.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Curt,
Thanks very much for your help. What concerns me though is that there is still some Photoshop default at work that is complicating things. Again, just to be clear, I did designate a folder and place for the saved Photoshop file. It just happened to be the default location of Program Files x86/Adobe/Photoshop Cs.
Now, I can try to change it to another location and see if the same problem exists. But what worries me is that the file shows up in this location when I access it through Photoshop. It opens. I write down the exact place of location and exact file name with extension.
I close Photoshop. I go into My Computer and navigate to the exact same location and the file is not there. I type the exact name of the file in Search, select my whole computer, wait 5 minutes and the search comes back negative.
It seems to me there is an issue with the way the file is being saved, almost as if it is saved as a virtual file--as opposed to a real one.
The scratch disk option being set to Startup was the default setting on installation. I have no idea what to change it to.
I will try setting up a completely different folder and location to save to and see what happens. Thanks again.

What version of Premiere Elements and what computer operating system? You have a few other threads awaiting follow up, and consequently that information
    is not available elsewhere.
    What is your specific export...
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    and Presets = MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080p30 or something like that.
    Specific please.
But what specifically are you entering in the Save In: field of the dialog that includes the Save button to initiate the export process.
Are you saving it as a file to the Desktop or to a specific folder on the Desktop? Have you given the export a distinctive file name?
The screenshot shows the Save In: to the Desktop as a file.
I have no idea of your background with the program, so I ask these questions so as to take nothing for granted.
If the computer Desktop is crowded, as mine often is, it is easy to have difficulty spotting a file save to the Desktop.
We will be watching for your follow up.
    Thank you.

  • Where is the file saved after using "Share... DVD..."? Is it saved?

    Hi,
I burned a 1 hour 41 minute HD program in FCPX using "Share" and "DVD..." It took about 17 hours to compress into a DVD. I made a few copies and quit the process. Now I want to make more copies, but I can't find where the completed file is saved. Was it saved at all? Or do I have to do this 17 hour compression all over again?
    Thanks, Duncan

By default it goes in your Movies folder.
Users > (Account Name) > Movies > Shared Items.

  • Snow Leopard Automator - where are the files saved?

    Hi,
I've been trying to run some Automator apps I have. In Tiger, the files would be saved in the same directory as the original files, but in Snow Leopard I can't find them anywhere. I'm having trouble with Spotlight (in another post), so I can't search for the files as I would normally do.
Any ideas where Automator might be saving these files? Same behaviour when I create a new app as well, can't find the files...
    Thanks

I think I just found them myself: in your user's Library > Workflows > Applications

  • Where are my files saving to

    Hi,
I have an I-mac late 2011. I mostly use it for Logic Pro and general internet use. With using Logic Pro I create a lot of projects and folders so I thought it best to purchase an external HD of 1TB and save them there.
I was sure I had set it up to save all Logic Pro files to the external HD as a default. But Ive noticed that if I forget turn on the external HD I am still able to access my Logic Pro files. Its possible I am saving duplicate copies on the external and on Imac.
Ive been ignoring it a long time and would really like to find out where exactly these files are defaulting to, or is it both. Its confusing because, for example, I could have 50 projects saved on the External HD and maybe 80 on the Imac. Some maybe duplicated copies on both and some maybe be only one copy and only on one source. The aim is to get them all on the external HD and free up the Imac of these large Logic Pro files.
Its a bad habit Im in and very basic knowledge I should be aware of but I really don't know what way Im saving these files and they are so important to me.
    Any help greatly appreciated

  • Where are the files saved in?

    Hello.
This might look a silly question for you, but it's not for me, since I started using JNLP a couple hours ago.
Well. I usually would give the users a JAR file or use a setup to put it in a specific folder.
In my program, I have a database that's supposed to be the core of the app, and cannot be deleted or de-cached at any circumstance.
So.. I would like to know where the files are saved (heard something about the "documents and settings" folder) so I can later do a backup.
Furthermore, I would like to know if and how I can save the JAR in a specific folder and if I can include another type of resources to download other than .jar and native libraries (maybe some txt?)
    Thanks.

They are saved somewhere like this:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javaws\http\
But it seems strange the you want to know where they are. I worry that you might be going about something the wrong way.

  • Where are the files saved in TM?

    hi, everybody.
Here's my question: a couple of days ago the HD in my iMac has died. The man in the store told me he doesn't know if he can recover the files. No big deal, I thought, TM saved everything.
So while the iMac is being repaired I use the MacBook. I connect the external HD but I don't see it in the finder. I open TM and it starts backing up the MacBook HD. I click on "browse other disks of TM" and it opens a window with no disk at all. Long story short: I can't find the saved files in any place.
    Now I'm panicking.
Can anybody give me some hope?
    Thanks a lot
    Anita

One can search the Time Machine HDD by clicking on it.  You can attach it to any Mac and view its contents.  You may want to turn off Time Machine on a Mac that is not configured to back up to that disk.
Just click on the folder and you may keep opening the folders until you get to the items that you are looking for.
The sequence is virtually the same as your HDD.
    Ciao.

  • In ovi software where the contacts file saved

Recently i updated my xp to windows 7  un expectedly i forget to take a back up  as i sync msgs to ovi and deleting from my mobile
now the problem is i have the old nokia ovi suit in xp but it is not working
but all the installed files are still in old windows files
in those installed files i want contacts and msgs file
so that i can copy the contacts and msgs file in old ovi suit and paste in new ovi suit
    thanks for the help

On XP the messages are in (note that folders are Hidden)
    Documents and Settings - <profile name> - Local Settings - Application data - Nokia - Nokia Suite - Messages - Database
    And Contacts are in
Documents and Settings - <profile name> - Local Settings - Application data - Nokia - Nokia Data Store
There are also other metadata than contacts on the same database (e.g.. playlists)
On Win 7 the places are
    Users - <profilename> - AppData - Local - Nokia - Nokia Data Store
    Users - <profilename> - AppData - Local - Nokia - Nokia Suite - Messages- Database.
You can replace the files from one OS to another, but if you have already transferred messages and contacts on you Win7 (or done any changes to contacts, playlists etc) then after file replace you have to do it again.

  • TV capturing on MCE. Where are the files saved?

    Hello!
Anybody knows the answer to that question??

By default they go in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Recorded TV -- if you want to change it, download TweakMCE (available on the MS site) or edit the registry -- you'll need to edit the following two keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Media Center\Service\Recording
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Media
    Center\Service\Recording\WatchedFolders

  • Where the alarm file is saved and by which name

    dear all
I m setting alarm by using following steps:-
Tools -> DSC Module -> Configure Tags
On Clicking Alarms tab setting alarms.
    then press ok.
Then File -> Save to save changes.
i just want to know where these changes are saved and where the alarmfile is created .
    is its extension  .ALR.
thanks in advance answer me as early as possible for u.
    regards,
    Dhanwanti

Assuming you are using a version prior to 8.0, the alarm configuration is part of the tag configuration and is stored in a file with a .scf extension.  This extension will not show up on windows as Microsoft co-opted it.  In 8.0 and later, the alarm configuration is part of the variable configuration and is stored in a file with a .lvlib extension.

  • My power went off and I have lost a word file I was working on. Was this file saved automatically anywhere where I can retrieve?

My power went off and I have lost a word file I was working on. Was this file saved automatically anywhere where I can retrieve?

It may have been if you had autosave activated.  I've never had that happen so I don't know where the file is put.  I would expect Word would ask you if you wanted to retrieve a saved version when you next started it in those circumstances.

  • "Always ask me where to save files" does not work.

Summary: The "Always ask me where to save files" feature does not work. No dialog box comes up, apparently because the browser is stuck on a bad old read-only lastDir location, in a prefs.js file that I can't edit.
    Details:
I am using Firefox 30.0 on Mac OS 10.6.8. My Mac has a both a read/write Mac partition that I use most of the time, and a bootcamp Windows partition drive ("C"), which I can read but not write to.
At some point I accidentally tried to download a file from a site, using Firefox, to the read-only Windows C drive. Ever since that time, I have not been able to download any files from Firefox, except to the firefox/downloads folder. This is inconvenient. If, in preferences, I try to set downloads to ""Always ask me where to save files", the dialog box does not come up when I actually try to save files. This problem does not apply to saving photos by right-clicking them.
If I open, in text-edit, mozilla/firefox/profiles/t4vockvue.default/prefs.js, which was saved yesterday, I can see a problematic line. It reads:
    user_pref("browser.download.lastDir", "C:\\Documents and Settings\\[etcetc]");
C:\\Documents and Settings\\[etcetc] being the read-only windows directory.
This prefs.js is apparently not an editable file.
I tried to fix this by opening a browser tab in Firefox and opening about:config. The editable browser.download.lastDir does NOT show the same "lastDir"....it shows some directory that I successfully downloaded photos to, by right-clicking on a photo.
How can I fix this problem?
    Thanks.

To confirm which profile folder is active when you are running Firefox, it is easiest to open it from inside Firefox as follows:
Sometimes the file that stores the customizations becomes corrupted and fails to update properly at the end of your session. You can rename the file and customize from scratch.
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
    * (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
In the first table on the page, click the "Show in Finder" button (Windows: "Show Folder" button).
Hopefully you are using a separate profile folder on each OS.
