Where is my folder?!

I had a folder on my desktop which I last used at the end of March. I needed to access something from it a couple of days ago and when I went to open it, found that it had disappeared! It is not in the trash and I have not emptied the trash for ages...so that isn't the answer. I have searched everywhere on the computer and I have not had any external devices plugged in. Can someone please tell me where my folder may have gone, because I feel like I'm going nuts! Would the computer delete a folder if the memory is getting full? Please help!

Hi Limnos
I have changed my OS on the details....sorry about that. I have tried Easyfind downloaded from your link...no luck with locating the missing folder. I am happy to suppose that the folder may have been deleted, but what is driving me crazy is in trying to understand how: a) I didn't trash it....b) even if it got trashed by accident, given that the trash hasn't been emptied for ages (if, indeed, ever) why isn't it in the trash? This is why I am so puzzled. How else could it have been deleted
Thank you for all of your help.

  • THE Bridge CC Extensions, so where is this folder to be found on a Windows 7 64?

Maybe I'm the ******* but each time lately it is something else, something new with CC, things are taken out put in another place, things are completely taken out, later added again by special downloads and you have to go and search for the right files to copy and paste files and so on and on and on.... I already lost several hours by each time researching the needed info, files, patches before I actually can do something!
Now I needed to make for school  an assignment, a contact-sheet that we needed to export import Bridge-Photoshop to create a video-wall. In school we're on the CS6 where contactsheets and PDF, creating in Bridge no problem, now at home running on the CC i'm kinda fu...d, after some research i find following message,
for now I'm afraid you have to keep your Bridge CS6 on your computer and use it for generating contact sheets (on my Mac I have to close Bridge CC before I can use Bridge CS6).
    - bad news: The Bridge CC online help says that in the current version the Adobe Output Module isn't available anymore and so it doesn't support generating contact sheets: "The functionality to create contact sheets, PDFs, and web galleries is available in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom, which are included in your Creative Cloud subscription." Generating contact sheets from within Photoshop is a mess. It's not as comfortable like in Bridge CS5/6, results are not predictable and the time it takes is not acceptable. Using a still fast Mac Pro with 2 x 3 GB quad cores took more than one and a half hour to create contact sheets out of o folder with 140 files – Bridge did that in minutes. Let's hope for Adobe developers working on Bridge CC to make things easy!
After doin some further research i find this:
    Install the Adobe Output Module
When Bridge CC shipped, it didn't include the Adobe Output Module, which allows you to create PDF presentations and web galleries. Adobe Output Module is now available for Bridge CC.
Make sure that you have the most recent version of Bridge CC installed. To check for updates, choose Help > Updates in Bridge. Follow the instructions to install any updates.
Download the appropriate file below by right-clicking (Windows) or Ctrl+clicking (Mac OS) and choosing to save the file. Save the file in a location you can remember, such as your Desktop.
So far no problem, following the instructions hoping my problem was solved,
Copy the Adobe Output Module folder (not the AOM_Package_[OS] folder) into the Bridge CC Extensions folder in the appropriate location:
    Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Bridge CC Extensions
What do you think? Of course everything to be found in my file paths except of course the file i needed, THE Bridge CC Extensions, so where is this folder to be found on a Windows 7 64?
Added to make things clear a print screen of C:drive path....
So any idea how to resolve this problem would be very much appreciated. Cheers

    Hi Ronald,
Sorry for the kinda late reply, busy days these days, lol but indeed somewhere i went wrong in the path. Went in search for the one you gave, progs-COMMON-Adobe and indeed correct. Thanks for the reply as the helping hand, cheers.

Firefox doesn't store the bookmarks as separate files in a folder, but uses a sqlite database file with the name places.sqlite.
You will have to export those favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in Firefox.
Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML : "From File"
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Backing_up_and_restoring_bookmarks_-_Firefox

  • Splitting a document,in output options you select the target folder to be "the same folder selected at start"? Where is that folder?

When splitting a document, in output options you can select the target folder to be "the same folder selected at start", but where is that folder?  I assumed it would be the original location of the source file but in my test the split files are not there just the source file.

Have you checked My Documents? You might close Acrobat and reopen, then see what folder comes up when you select File>Open.

  • HT5262 where is backup folder on pc

where is backup folder on a PC running Windows XP?

    Try - C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\[id]\
I don't believe the iPhone's backup stores contact information, calendar events, bookmarks, or photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone.
This data should be in the supported application or applications on your computer.
The backup stores iPhone settings, SMS messages, notes created with the Notes app, cities tracked with the Weather widget, stocks tracked with the Stocks widget, recent calls, call favorites, alarms, visual voicemail, email account settings, and photos captured by your iPhone.
Basically the backup stores data not included with the sync process.

I upgraded to 10.9.4. I'm trying to backup my mail to an external backup drive. Prior to upgrade, I could drag the Mail folder to external drive. Now I can't find a Mail folder on my hard drive. Where is it? I just want to do a manual drag and drop backup. Thanks!

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and provide ~/Library/ as the path.

  • Where is the folder containing all my bookmarks?

I need to locate the folder on my C: drive containing the bookmarks I saved through Firefox. This is easy to do with IE. I have a Favorites icon on my desktop and I can open it and see all my bookmarks.
The same question applies to Xmarks. Xmarks lists all my bookmarks but I have to access them from the browser. I need the folder.
I haven't started using Delicious yet, so maybe that's a solution to organizing bookmarks. But so far, none of the applications or Add-ons for organizing bookmarks works. The best solution is to organize them manually. I create my own folders then transfer the bookmarks into the folders they belong in.
Even Yahoo Bookmarks doesn't have an import feature. So if I want to use it, I have to start from scratch.
I need to move the bookmarks around without having to open them up in a browser.

With firefox you will be better off using your library feature
    * From the menubar '''Bookmarks -> Organise bookmarks'''
The library may not look much at present, because you have not started using it, but it is highly customisable.
Even without using any bookmark related extensions. The library feature of firefox allows you to move around bookmarks and folders of bookmarks easily. You can drag and drop &/or copy and paste.
It is easy with firefox to for instance have rows of folders on the bookmarks toolbar each with nested bookmarks folders, you can also tag bookmarks, and or use shortcut keywords of one or more letters. Or you can open them from the bookmark menu, or the bookmark sidebar, and if you wish the location bar will utilise them.
You can temporarily re-sort your library, with a mouse click or two, by any column heading either up and down or down to up. You can export the bookmark library files as HTMl if you want.
'''However''' firefox works with the bookmarks in a special format and the files have the extension .json Be very careful if you work with them. Firefox does automatically create some autobackups, but if used they overwrite existing bookmarks, you must remember to make manual backups first.

*[[Exporting bookmarks to an HTML file]] - you can move those files where you want, they will re-import into firefox, but only append in the library, the files will also open directly as tabs within firefox, which may be more useful

  • Iphoto Library - where is the folder that the pics are actually kept in?

OK...I was looking for a picture to use as a profile pic for facebook (and I was doing the same for another application one day but can't remember which one) and when you want to choose a picture from the finder (under pictures)....all you get is iphoto library (or photobooth - which is not what I am looking for)...that's it...you can't click it to open it and see the pictures in it. What is the proper folder to find your pictures in to upload this way without dragging the pic to the desktop and then deleting it after you use it?

    Kat2007
There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
To upload to MySpace or any site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you're using a Cocoa-based browser such as Safari you can drag photos from the iPhoto Window to the browser's attach window.
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves. If you're willing to risk database corruption, you can restore the older functionality simply by right clicking on the iPhoto Library and choosing 'Show Package Contents'. Then simply make an alias to the folders you require and put that alias on the desktop or where ever you want it. Be aware though, that this is a hack and not supported by Apple.

  • Where is the folder into which place the swf file for Illustrator Extensions

    Hi all,
I can place swfs into Photoshop & Indesign panels folder and they appear just fine in the extension menu but wherever I place the swf into Illustrator's folders, it just appears nowhere. Can someone tell me where do I have to place them ?
    TIA Loic

    Hi Harbs,
thx for your answer. As I don't have Extension builder installed yet, I do extensions with Flex and csaw libs, so it is easier for me to debug placing the swf directly into the folders like for Photoshop and Indesign. Of course in the end I would have set a correct extension but for now it was better for me to do this way.
So what I understand is that there is no way to get that behaviour with Illustrator unless I do process and install a whole extension package. Annoying but well, will have to deal with it.
    Thx Loic

  • Where is the folder?

I have suddenly lost the actual folder where my pictures are. All I see under "Pictures" in Finder is an icon for Photo Library but when I open it I just start the program and not the actual folder. Can anyone help me restore the initial setting?

The following is from one of Terence Devlin’s posts on file access for use outside of iPhoto. It’s the definitive treatise on the subject.
Since iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Package File. This is simply a folder that looks like a file in the Finder. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
Accessing the iPhoto Library Folder directly has never been supported in any version of iPhoto.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For Users of 10.5 and later
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
For users of 10.4 and later ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
All of the above are a: faster and b: Safer than rooting around in the old Library Folder.
