Where is my homesharing on newest Itunes?

There is no "advanced section" to turn homesharing on, when I first saw it I accidently pressed done or maybe I was supposed to press done? No sharing section had popped up and both computers our on with itunes up. I have a Mac.

I have "Library" "store" "devices" "genius" and "playlists" on my sidebar and then nothing but the music player at the top, which seems like less then I used to have no drop down bars . Heres a screenshot of my itunes

i have been trying to download the newest itunes to my windows 7 computer wit the last 2 wks now... im at the stage where iv tried everting from uninstalling itunes to installing it again... can someone please help before i throw the computer out the window!

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

  • Downloaded newest iTunes, now can't see cheap movies in the right hand side topics; where did it go - how do I get to them?

Downloaded the newest itunes, now I can no longer see the "cheap" movies listed on the links to the right hand side.  Where did they go, and how do I now get to them?  I tried search and that didn't work.

Are they gone completely from the computer, or just no longer in the library? Check your movie media folder.
If your'e in the USA you can download some movies a second time, but not all (studio dependent).  You should always back up all media.

  • Tried to install newest itunes, crashed during install, and now crashes my computer every time i try to uninstall.  Itunes doesn't show up in the Add/remove prog list at all.  tried to roll back over a month, still crashing.

So I tried to update to the newest Itunes.  It locked up my computer part way thru the install.  Black screen, computer turned itself off.  Now anytime i try to do anything with Itunes it shuts my computer down.  I can start up fine in safe mode but when i try to uninstall from there, Itunes doesn't exist.  the other apple programs do, but no itunes.  when i try to uninstall the other programs in safe mode it tells me it can't because the windows installer isn't loaded.  I have system restored to over a month ago and itunes still doesn't show up in add/remove programs.  however, i can open itunes.  it just tells me a file didn't get installed and to uninstall and reinstall.  So, how do i remove a progam that doesn't think it exists and crashes my computer when i try to do anything related to it???  I'm out of ideas.  running windows vista.

I think my problem is fixed now.
For the fun of it, I reinstalled iTunes 9.2.1 today (using the exact same installer as I did yesterday), but this time I didn't uninstall iTunes first. As expected, iTunes recognized my iPhone (as I expected it to, until my next reboot).
A few minutes later, Software Update showed up and among the updates is "iPhone SDK Compatibility Update". The description indicates that installing this should fix an issue where iPhones and iPod touches aren't recognized by iTunes. Isn't that interesting?
I installed that update and most of the others waiting for me (including Java, Safari 5.0.1, and a few others - not 10.6.4 though, due to the issues with nVidia graphics cards). After the reboot, I started iTunes, and it saw my iPhone!
So, if you're having this same problem, I'd recommend tracking down this update and see if that does the trick for you. Hopefully it will.

This is a problem with home sharing, you are not going to have to re-encode all your CD's.

  • Since downloading newest itunes I can't transfer podcasts from desktop to ipod. ***??

I got the newest itunes version and since then when I download a podcast to my desktop I can't transfer it to my ipod. I used to drag it over with no problem. Now I just get the circle with a line. Can't open on itunes, can't put it in music library. ***??

Are you using automatic syncing to load the iPod?  Or do you load the iPod manually (by dragging items to the iPod in iTunes)?
Automatic syncing is the more convenient way to do it.  To sync automatically, select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, go to the Podcasts tab.  This is where you tell iTunes how you want podcasts synced to your iPod.  You can get pretty specific, down to the level of individual podcast episodes.  You should also set up the Music tab, to tell iTunes how you want your music library synced to your iPod.  When you click Apply, your iPod will load ("sync") based on how you set up those tabs.  Going forward, any changes that you make to your iTunes library (that related to those tabs) will sync automatically, when you connect the iPod or click the Sync button.
If you want to load the iPod manually, on the Summary tab, you need to check the checkbox that says Manually manage music (and Apply the change). If it's currently not checked, the iPod is set for automatic syncing, so you cannot drag items to the iPod in iTunes to load them.

  • Can't Download the Newest iTunes--Install Doesn't Complete

If I use the download from the Apple webpage, the Windows Installer hardly ever loads the program. Very rarely it will, and I will get to the page where the program will be installed (the page that says "All Your Music. All in One Place."), the green status bar will be almost full, and then it will stop. If I use the Apple Software Update for iTunes+Quicktime, the green bar will get to about 55% full, above it it will say "Installing..." and then it will stop. I've tried both install methods several times and I have left them for about two hours with no progress. I use a Vista Basic but I have never had this problem before. How can I get it to actually install?

I can't download iTunes either. I have Windows XP and when trying to download just iTunes 9.0.3 it will start to download and then get to 15.60 KB and stop. I tried downloading it thru iTunes using the Update iTunes option, tried downloading from I.E. 8 and Firefox/Mozillaa and no luck. I even found the option to download 8.0.2 and 8.1.7 off Apple's website and neither one of those will download, they all just stall after awhile. I have cleared my web cache for both IE and Firefox, removed the previous version of iTunes and all the apps associated with it. I had a saved copy of iTunes 8.0.2 and reinstalled it, but again with the older app, I still can't download the newest version of iTunes. This time it gives the option to install Bonjour, Safari and iTunes, it got thru Bonjour but froze on Safari and didn't get to iTunes. I have been fighting this since the day the newest iTunes came out.

  • On the newest itunes, how do you convert videos or songs to be the right version for my ipod?

on the previous version, you just had to go to the advanced tab and there was a convert to my ipod/ipad/itouch option.
where is it on the newest version? or is there just not one on this version?

iTunes should automatically convert the songs to the format compatible for iPod. If not, follow through this:
iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format
    As for videos:
Verifying iTunes video conversion and video syncing using sample Quick Time files
You can also use, Handbreak (mainly use to rip movies from DVD) to convert videos to a specific format so specific devices.

After 'updating' the newest iTunes version, I cannot sync my iPod Nano!  The 'old' version recognized and showed in icon to sync, but the newest version does not.  Is there a way to sync the older iPods?

  • I've just bought an new laptop and downloaded itunes. I plugged in my iphone and upgraded to the newest itunes/ synched etc. Now I have no music or apps on my phone. The contacts photos and texts all seem fine. Just the itues stuff that's missing.

I have just bought a new computer and downloaded itunes. I plugged in my iphone and upgraded to the newest itunes/ synched etc. Now have no music or apps on the phone. Contacts, texts, photos all fine. Just all itunes content that is missiing. It isn't showing in my itunes account on my computer or on my phone. Any idea how to get it back? (No point synching with itunes on my computer as it isn't there either!)

I suggest copying your entire iTunes library to your new computer, also you might want to copy the photos you want to save. Then sync your device to the new iTunes and copy over your music, documents and photos that you want.
If you are no longer going to use the old computer you should open up iTunes on the old computer and use the menu to deauthorize it. Be sure to use the same iTunes menu on your new computer to Authorize the new one.

  • I have downloaded the newest iTunes software on my Windows 64 bit computer so I can update my iPhone 4 to OS5. When I open iTunes it opens and then crashes. I have completely uninstalled iTunes twice and reloaded it twice and still doesn't work.

I down loaded the newest iTunes software to update my iPhone 4 and when I open it, it crashes. I have completely uninstalled it twice and reinstalled it again and still it doesn't work. Please help.

    - First I would remove and reinstall all the Apple software using the following and then restoring the ipOd.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    - Next see if manually placing the iPOd in recovery mode will allow a restore. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    - Next try DFU mode:
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - Next try another computer/cable to help determine if you have a computer or iPod problem.
    - If the other computer works and yours does not see:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
