Where is my HSDPA Modem?!?

Hi there,
I have a t61p but i'm not able to use my HSDPA modem. It doesen't appear in the device list, what I suppouse to do? Is that a specific driver that I need to install?
I already installed the Sierra drivers, but nothing happend.
Also it's not apper in the Access Connection too, so i'm not able to turn it on, suppousing that is off...

Friend,
It is very possible that you have a WWAN ready machine, which means that you have a sim card slot and antennas installed, but not the embedded and very much needed mini PCIe card.
Some thing happened to me and now I am searching for a compatible sierra or other card to purchase.
Hope I helped.

  • Mini 311-1000 HSDPA modem

    Can anyone tell me what internal HSDPA modem is compatible with the HP Mini 311-1000?
    In particular, I'd like to use SIERRA MC8775 HS2300 but cannot identify if this is supported or not?

    SATA-II drives will work in SATA-I systems and vice versa so that is not an issue. As far as the rpms I usually tell people not to worry about using a 7200 rpm drive but the fact is they do run just a bit hotter and take a little more juice which is bigger factor in a netbook. HP offers a 500 gig 5400 rpm drive as an option so I am sure you would have no issues with a 500 gig 5400 rpm SATA -I or -II drive and I can't say the same on a 7200 rpm drive.

  • Merlin XU870 HSDPA Modem Problem

    I just installed a Novatel Merlin XU870 HSDPA Modem with Cingular wireless in my Intel Core 2 Duo and my pull-down icons at the top right are blinking. The icons seem to be cycling. It happens as soon as I plug the device into the ExpressCard 34 slot and stops when removed. Using Internet Connect I can connect to the internet using the card but the blinking continues.
    I have uninstalled the Novatel drivers and reinstalled them - no difference. I have all of the current update from Apple.
    I'm at a loss. Can someone help?
    Thanks
    MacBook Pro 15' and many more   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    i had this problem when the update first went out. my solution was to uninstall the update and then install novatel's drivers.
    recently novatel's drivers seemed to have uninstalled themselves (or at least they were not longer visible in the network system pref pane, even though the files were still in the system library) so i tried apple's solution again. still doesn't work.
    HELLO APPLE IF YOU ARE READING THE MESSAGE BOARDS - PLEASE ADDRESS THE FACT THAT THE WWAN UPDATE DOES NOT WORK FOR THE XU870 ... THIS IS WIDESPREAD, SEE FOR EXAMPLE http://digg.com/apple/Donot_install_the_Apple_WWAN_Support_1_0update
    how to uninstall apple's drivers:
    - Remove the following files installed by the update:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/WWAN.menu
    /System/Library/Extensions/IOSerialFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleWWANSupport .kext
    /System/Library/Extensions/IOSerialFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleWWANVerizon .kext
    /Library/Modem Scripts/WWAN Support
    - To get to the 2nd and 3rd files you have to right-click or ctrl-click on the IOSerialFamily.kext and select 'show package contents'
    how to install novatel's drivers:

    good luck - this is a total pain. i hope apple is paying attention.

  • Novatel HSDPA Modem for Protege M700 and Windows 7 RC

    Hi all,
    after a lot of searching through the web I am stuck.
    I did find the current Mobilink Software (v2_02_37) which successfully installs and the new Toshiba Utils (1.1.7).
    Now I am searching a Novatel driver or the actual 3G modem. The one from Toshiba (ToshibaDriver_V2.01.12) does not install. It rolls back at the very end of the installation.
    In the device manager I find 4 unknown "data interface" devices with the driver missing.
    The Toshiba Utility does not find to 3G modem, when I try to activate it using FN+F8.
    Where can I get an installable version of the Novatel Software?
    Thank you very much for any hint, except this problem the Win7 RC runs perfectly on the M700!!
    Toshiba support answered that Win7 is not supported :-(

    As far as I know Windows 7 is not on the market and what you can use is test version only. Toshiba and every other notebook manufacturer will start Windows 7 support when the Microsoft offers it on the market and when Toshiba starts to offer notebooks with Windows 7.
    Until then you can just play a little bit and test basic functionality without specific Toshiba stuff.
    I do the same.
    Sorry buddy but we must wait for official worldwide launch of Windows 7.

  • Huawei E220 HSDPA modem (Vodafone Vodem) stopped working

    Hi there,
    My faithful Powerbook is having issues with a company issued Vodafone Vodem (Huawei E220 wireless HSDPA 3G USB modem).
    It worked well at first, but then after restarting, waking from sleep or rebooting from off, the Vodem would cease to connect to Vodafone, with the Vodafone Modem Software giving me a cryptic message "No modem or data card attached".
    Yesterday, I tried reinstalling and uninstalling the software, and after several installation/uninstallations, it finally reconnected. It has since stopped working again since shutting down the Powerbook overnight. Reinstalling has not yet worked.
    I read somewhere on the net that leaving the modem plugged in for a minute before attempting to connect might work - alas no such luck.
    Has anyone else out there had problems with their Vodafone/Huawei E220 USB wireless modem, and how did you resolve the problem?
    I have tried both the New Zealand 2.07 version, plus the European 2.08 version of the Vodafone connectivity software.
    I am running a Powerbook 15", 1.67ghz, MacOS 10.4.11, 512MB, no other peripherals connected.

    hi
    I'm using a vodem on my Intel mac book and never even use the software vodafone provide as it is clunky, slow and unreliable.
    i used it once to set up the connection and from then on have simply connected through system preferences:network: and connect the huawei modem from there. it even gives you the option of having an icon in your top tool bar.
    hope this helps
    cheers

  • Where are the internal modem drivrs?

    I have just erased and re-installed from the system CD's (10.3.5). System Profile shows the modem but no drivers. I tried looking at the custom install options, but no modem drivers there.
    My wife's iMac G5 has a modem with requisite drivers.
    A search on 'modem' shows the modem scripts in the system library.
    Network Preferences does not show the modem.
    Searching the Apple site for internal modem does not yield anything for the iMac G5.

    This is the information that shows for my RevA under modem:
    Modem Model: Jump
    Interface Type: I2S
    Modulation: V.92
    Hardware Version: Version 1.0
    Driver: MotorolaSM56K.kext (v1.3.3)
    Country: B5 (United States, Latin America)
    Which model do you have?
    Have a look at this:
    Get the latest software
    "Under certain circumstances, your modem may need a software update in order to work. If you have an Apple built-in modem, be sure you have the latest update for the version of Mac OS X that you are using, and that you have installed any applicable modem updates for your computer model. Search Apple Downloads using the word "modem" and the model name of your computer. If you have a third-party modem, check the manufacturer's website for possible modem script, driver, or firmware updates."
    It's from an Apple KB article.

  • HSDPA (UMTS) modem compatibility with L430

    Hi i would like to buy me a hsdpa modem for my new l430, is there somwhere a compatibility list of which mini pci-e hsdpa modems are supported from the bios or are all the drivers for the usual modems like eg the ericson f3507g?

    Hey ProKSA,
    I've been looking around and I can not find anywhere that show that adapter being compatible with a Thinkpad. Now that you have said it could just be software issue and no one has noticed it yet so no fix has been made. Can you specify which Thinkpad doesn't recognize the USB modem and which one the software fails to load. This way we can tackle them one at time. The only Lenovo pre-install that I can think of right now that could affect it would be Access Connections.
    Post back if you could please and we can see what we can do to find a solution to your issue.
    Best Regards,

  • HSDPA, N95 and 1.8mbps?

    Hi All
    I have been looking at this HSDPA system and cannot work it out.
    OK as I understand it....
    The High Speed Download Packet Access in 3G networks is supposed to offer a maximum theoretical speed of 1.8 mega bits per second data speed. (1.8mbps)
    OK having established that, I then look into my Bluetooth and USB modem settings.
    On my laptop a Dell 6400 with Vista Ultimate, I have checked out the modem settings. The maximum speed that I can connect to the modem in the N95 is in the COM Port with 460800 bps which using an online calculator equates to 0.4608 mega bits per second. No where near my fabled 1.8Mbps.
    I tried the USB cable and again that offers me no more than around 960000 bps 0.96Mbps.
    So, hoping that I have got the wrong end of the stick How do I get at least that connection speed to the modem in the phone so that I might at least have a shot at getting my 1.8Mbps? It would appear the serial port driver will not permit anything faster than that via either cable or Bluetooth? It would seem that the connection to the PC is choking the data speed. So therefore I am being limited not by the Cellular networks speed but the speed at which I can connect to the modem in the N95 at.
    Any ideas, suggestions or help appreciated
    Shunts....
    I will mostly be communicating with a Nokia E72 Zodium Black
    Nokia E72-1 with Vr 051.018.207.04 Software
    If this post helped... Add some kudos!!

    Hi ,
    3 connections speeds are involved when you connect your N95 with computer & use HSDPA.
    N95 (HSDPA) connected with cellular pole > max download speed 3.6Mbps ( depends how many people are connected to the pole)
    N95 (hsdpa modem ) connected with computer > max transfer speed 921.6Kbps.
    And the speed of USB 2.0 cable which is 480MBps (mega bytes per second) .
    Now every thing is ok except one thing & that is the connection speed of N95's modem with the computer's COM port which dosent allow a baud rate of more than 921600bps because the driver for N95's modem was written to like that.
    Now its very easy to increase the Kbps of a modem from the windows registry but only a driver developer could do that or a person who knows the HEX / binary language.Please dont not try to change any hex values your self.
    I am working on this issue as NOKIA told me that they cannot help.Any one of you want to participate are most welcome.
    Reagrds,
    Mansoor.

  • Portege R-400 3G modem freezes VMWare Player 3.0 in Windows 7

    Hi all,
    I have a following problem need your help.
    I have a Portege R-400 with 3G modem build-in. It is installed Windows 7. Everything is fine until I install the VMWare Player 3.0.
    Without 3G modem connection, every application still works very well. (I use WiFi most time.)
    When I am not able use WiFi and connect with 3G, without starting VMWare Player, the system is frozen in 5 to 20 minutes.
    The sympton is no any response for keypad and mouse, but can see HD light in flashing.
    Next, I will try Virtual PC from microsoft. It may have same problem, too.
    It will be very appreciated if there is any solution for this problem.
    Many Thanks!
    Mike

    Thanks, Dr. Lamp.
    I fully agree your analysis. So, over the weekend, I re-install the windows 7 system. Unfortunately, this problem remains.
    From my experience,
    1. this problem is isolated in 3G HSDPA modem.
    2. the 3G modem meeds to be connected.
    3. there is no any other connection available.
    So, the potential problems are in:
    1. 3G modem driver.
    2. The way of the host machine (Windows 7) acceses and manages the 3G modem.
    3. The way of VMWare acceses 3G modem.

    I've try to install a E220 modem in my Arch Laptop, but i have a problem i can't get a ppp interface.
    I've done this:
    1.- lsusb
    BUS ==> Bus 001 Device 008: ID 12d1:1003 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E220 HSDPA Modem / E230/E270 HSDPA/HSUPA Modem

    Init2 = ATZ
    Init3 = at+cgdcont=1,"ip","jazzinternet"
    Stupid Mode = 1
    4.- Run wvdial

    Hi Karol.
    I've read that article and i've used mkwvconf to configure my ISP before postting here, but i thought that user and pasword were not necessaries and i was wrong. I've need set Username and Password to empty string.
    My configuration is:
    [Dialer Jazztel]
    Modem Type = Analog Modem
    Phone = *99***1#
    ISDN = 0
    Baud = 460800
    Username = ''
    Password = ''
    Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
    Init1 = AT+CPIN=MyPIN
    Init2 = ATZ
    Init3 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
    Init4 = at+cgdcont=1,"ip","jazzinternet"
    Stupid Mode = 1
    Now works.
    Thanks and best regards.

  • USB EVDO Modem + Leopard + Netgear WGR614v7?

    Hello,
    I am hoping to share an EVDO modem I have (Anydata ADU-310A) that I'm running under leopard. Internal airport sharing works but the signal is weak other computers connecting this way have very slow internet speeds (much slower than machine with the modem). I've tried sharing via internet and then running that cable straight into my Netgera WGR614 router but the internet light just stays orange and won't share a signal coming into it. Any ideas? It would be so nice to be able to share this way...
    Thanks for any thoughts.
    Jonathan

    A far better setup would be to use a router that is compatible with usb 3g/hsdpa modems fortunately they are now on the market.
    check this out
    You would have to check that your model of usb modem is compatible with the router.

  • Script for motorola l6i or SE P910i to use as gprs modem

    hi, I have a motorola l6i that I'd like to use as an usb gprs modem for my powerbook, it is correctly detected but I don't know where to find a modem script to use it for the purpose via the usb cable.
    the other option would be to use the SE P910i as BT gprs modem but also here I don't know where to find the scripts, any suggestion?
    thanks
    p.s. I'll use the phones on a powerbook g4 with tiger or leopard

    You can find many modem scripts for many models of phones including motorola at Ross Barkman's Homepage
