There is always a risk when repartitioning you might lose data.   Same with installing any new software.  Backup your data before installing anything new*:

  • IMac installation discs 1 & 2 being recognised as blank DVD-RW

    Hi
I'm trying to install the Boot Camp software to my newly installed Windows Vista, but my iMac installation discs are both being recognised as DVD-RW's, and appear blank.
Anybody got a clue what's going on?
    Thanks a lot!

If you run System Profiler, is the external optical drive being recognized?
If you insert a regular disc into the drive, such as a music CD, does it show up on your Desktop?

  • Where do i get installation disc

No installation disc found in the box for mac os x. where do i can i get one?

You don't. It's all in the iCloud now.
Wrong. Not the iCloud, but via the Recovery HD. Use that to reinstall Lion and after it DLs from the MAS, quit the installer (saved in /Applications), open it up, using CONROL-click->Show Package Contents, drill down to SharedSupport, and restore the InstallESD mounted image to an HD partition, USB stick, or a double-sided DVD. See http://www.macworld.com/article/161069/2011/07/make_a_bootable_lion_installer.ht ml for details. AFAIK, the Lion USB stick in no longer available and I doubt that there will be one for ML.

  • My Intel iMac only shows a blinking folder with a question mark when powering it up. What can I do besides running the hardware test of the original installer disc.

My Intel iMac only shows a blinking folder with a question mark when powered up.
I did run the hardware test of the original installer disc and no trouble was found and I am out of options. Does anybody have any advice what to do next

If the drive shows errors then repair, if after the 3rd pass of Repair Disk in Disk Utility it still shows errors it's telling you it's time to be replaced. Take it to your local Apple Store or AASP for repair, when it comes back use your backup (either Time Machine or bootable clone) to restore so you can pick up where you left off.

    Thank you
Brick and mortar stores will not carry the disc, you can get it online on Apple's online store. If you are in the USA the link is:

  • Where can i get a windows 7 installation disc, and how much would it cost.

I need to know where i can get this installation disc, could somebody send me a link to like amazon where i could buy the disc. Please help me out.

If you have some Windows experience, you could get the Windows 8 Customer Preview which will last until next January. It is free. Possibly Windows 7 will cost less after 8 is available
at cost (like an old iPad?).
There is also a User guide here
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/consumer-preview
The consumer preview download here is only if you already have Windows but you can get ISO below.
Write down the product key which is needed at install time and select language, 32 or 64 Bit.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/iso
In Mac, you need to run Boot Camp to create Windows space before install from ISO at boot.

  • Where can I obtain a genuine Mac OS X 10.5.8 Installation Disc?

    Hi everyone,
I bought a 2nd hand Apple MacBook about 18 months ago (via eBay).  It is my first Mac.  It did not come with its original OS X 10.5.8 Installation Disc/s and I now have one or more problems with my Hard Drive, so I need the Installation Disc/s.  Can someone please advise me where I can buy the correct (genuine) version of Installation Disc/s for my MacBook, please?
    Many thanks in advance...
    Kind regards,Nigel.

You can call Apple Customer service with the serial # of the MacBook and have new disks sent to you.....

  • Imac mid-2007 installation disc

Is it possible to get another installation disc for my intel imac ?
I get one of the file is corrupted and i need to get it changed.
    Thank you .^^.

    HI,
*"I get one of the file is corrupted and i need to get it changed."*
What's wrong with this disk? If your iMac can't mount the disk or boot from it, try cleaning it.
You can get replacement System Install & Restore CD/DVDs from Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 - for a nominal S&H fee. You'll need to have the model and/or serial number of your Mac available.
If you're not in the US, you may need to go through the regional Apple Store that serves your location to find the contact number. Here's a list of links to all of those -

  • Need installation disc/download for PS 6.0, current disc is corrupt, where can I find?

I have a legit Photoshop 6.0 CD-Key here but my installation disc seems to be corrupted. Where can I obtain a new disc or download an installation of Photoshop 6.0. I would prefer not to spend any money on re-purchasing something I already own.
Thanks for your time in advance.

All I can say is good luck...you're going to need to find someone with
the same version CD. If you can, it would okay for them to burn you a
copy. If you'd like to post your email address, I'll mark this thread
read only and they can contact you directly.

  • Can anyone help me?  I recently bought a secondhand PowerBook G4 but there was no installation discs, where can I obtain a set as I am unable to install any software.  Many thanks.

I recently bought a secondhand PowerBook G4 but there were no installation discs with it and at present I am unable to install any software, where is it possible to obtain a set of the discs so that I can reinstall the software to try and resolve this problem.
    Many thanks.

You may also want to try eBay. Finding disks for a machine that old will be difficult though.
    Best of luck.

  • Cant get my iMac to boot up from Installation disc

I ran disc utitliy on my imac to speed up things, clean things up as its running a bit rough (slow). The utility said I had some major problems w HD and that I should restart from installation disc so it can perform the repair. Tried to boot from the original Install disc. Holding "C" on start up did nothing, it just starts off the hard drive. Held "option" key on restart and it allowed me to select the boot from drive. I selected the install disc. Then I got the gray screen w the Apple logo. And that was it. Sat there and waited 15 minutes. Nothing else came up. Did a force restart and Im back to square one. Any ideas? Im running OS 10.6.8

    Hi Colleen
Startup holding the Option key and see if your Macintosh HD is present and selectable as a startup volume?

If not, then dig out the original gray Tiger Install Disc 1 that came with your iMac and run the Extended Apple Hardware Test.

  • Can I start up my new imac (Snow Leopard) from a Tiger installation disc?

Last week I upgraded to an entirely new machine. My old imac was running on Tiger and the logic board failed. Though I had an external, I had my local Apple store transfer my hard drive data to my new mac. Since then, I've run Disc Utility a few times, each time with no problem until today.
Disc Utility is giving me the following error:
The volume Macintosh HD was found corrupt and needs to be repaired.
Error: This disk needs to be repaired. Start up your computer with another disk (such as your Mac OS X installation disc), and then use Disk Utility to repair this disk.
Since I don't have a Snow Leopard disc, I've tried starting up with my old Tiger installation disc, but to no avail... At the risk of sounding a little stupid, should Apple have given me a Leopard disc with my purchase?

you can not use the tiger disk. you need to use your snow leopard disk. what happened to yours? every new computer comes with one. it's called install disk one and is packaged with every new computer.
