Where is my imported email?

Hi all,
We purchased a Pavilion HPE h8-1103nl yesterday, with Win7. I'm still in the middle of moving over files from the old computer.
I imported e-mail from Outlook Express 6 to Windows Live mail.... but the messages don't appear in the mailbox. Can't find them anywhere....
Where are they?
Thanks for your help!

Mijni,
I went through this problem.
It may already exist in "Windows Live Mail under Storage Folders in the Imported Folders folder in Windows 7".
The following explains, if they exist, how to move them to the new folders.
From MS Answers:
Use these methods however substitute Outlook Express for when it says Windows Mail as the
export methods are the same.

  • Where are imported emails stored on verizon email account

Recently switched over from Comcast to Verizon and used True Switch to import old emails to new verizon account.  Email indicates everything was imported however only contacts show available.  Where are the imported emails.  Can't find them in inbox. Please help!

they should have created a folder in your webmail inbox.
so you sign in at http://webmail.verizon.net
you will have inbox, sent trash etc..
there should be another folder there.

  • Do imported emails from pst files get saved to Exchange Server?

So I exported a user's email into a pst file and I'm importing all of them into his new email address.  My question is whether these newly imported emails will be only available locally or will they be uploaded into the Exchange server (which is TWC's
hosted service) and therefore he'll be able to  access them from his phone as well?  If they are not uploaded, how would I go about to making these emails available on his phone through his new email address as well then?

    Hi th0rax,
yes, if you imported mails from a PST file to the Exchange Mailbox you will be able to Access them from Outlook, OWA and ActiveSync where you habe Access to your Mailbox.
I suggest you should do that via new-mailboximportrequest (http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/ff607310(v=exchg.150).aspx) if it is a big PST file and maybe a longer
    list of users.
You can also Import via Outlook but in that case you need to have that Outlook Client running until "All Folders are up to date" and the new Mailbox Content was replicated to your Servers Mailbox after the Import was done.

  • Importing eMail from NetScape 7.2 to Mail 2.1?

I am trying to import eMail from NetScape 7.2 to Mail 2.1. Is this possible? In Mail Help it sort of implies that this may not work but it never says it won't work!
    Thanks,
    -Joe

Not sure what you mean about Mail Help implying that it may not work. It should work doing File > Import Mailboxes and choosing Other as the data format, but you’d get better results using Eudora Mailbox Cleaner to do the conversion, adapting the instructions for Mozilla/Thunderbird to your particular situation (the mailbox format used by Netscape and Mozilla/Thunderbird is the same).
Eudora Mailbox Cleaner requires rebuilding the imported mailboxes in Mail afterwards, but instead of rebuilding them one by one, you may re-create the entire index as follows:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your mail is locally stored.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see any other “Envelope Index”-named file there, delete it as well.
    4. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index — Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

  • Just lost a very important email

I went to move a VERY important email message from my in box to a folder and i dropped the message on the out box by accident. now the message is gone!!! is there any way to recover it? i have tried using spotlight and the seach function in mail but i found no joy. i REALLY need the information that was in that email and i cannot get in touch with the person who sent it. is there ANY way to recover it at all
    Thanks in advance.
    iBook G3/900   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

The thing is, in Mail 2.x Outbox shouldn’t even appear in the mailbox list under normal conditions -- see Mail Help’s “Where's my Outbox?” article.
Anyway, in the Finder go to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/Outbox.mbox/ and check whether there are any *.emlx files there.
Also, depending on the type of account, the account settings, and whether this a recent message, it may still be on the server...
If the message has been deleted, and it’s not on the server, and you don’t have a backup, your only option in the case of Mail 2.x is to try to salvage as many deleted *.emlx files as possible with a data recovery tool such as Data Rescue II, TechTool Pro, or FileSalvage. Of these, the only one I know for sure that can currently recover deleted *.emlx files is FileSalvage. Stop using your computer right now if you want to try that, as anything you do with the computer may cause the deleted files to be overwritten.

  • Can I import email addresses from a contact group into a new email?

Import email addresses?  I'm trying to send an electronic invitation to a group of about 50 people.  I have to enter each of their email addresses, and rather than typing them one by one, I'm wondering if I can import all of their email addresses from a group I created in my Address Book.  I'm sending the invitation through the company's website, nut my email, so the email address does not appear when I start typing their names.  Thanks!

Open a new message and start typing the groups name in the 'To' field works for me. Some e-mail providers have limits on how many addressees can be in one e-mail.

  • Recommendation for a new feature - alert when an important email arrives

Why can't I set my iPhone to give me an alert when an important email arrives?  This new feature would alert me when I get an email from a predetermined sender or subject line.  AOL offers this feature.  Why can't my iPhone do it too?  The phone would need to read the sender address and subject line of each email, and then bounce it against a list of pre-configured alerts that the user programs.
This would also cut down on data consumption, since users would not have to check and recheck their mail when waiting for somethign important.  With an alert, you just set it and forget it.

iOS 6, coming this fall, will include a new feature that allows you to designate a VIP list for just this purpose.  This feature will be supported on the iPhone 4.  See "Mail" here: http://www.apple.com/ios/ios6/.

  • Where are my important files located in Leopard 10.5?

I had an old file from apple titled "Where are my important files located?" which applied to 10.3. I could not find this same doc for 10.5. It had the location of all the important files for safari, mail, address book, etc. and was handy when I was mirgrating files or backing up or so forth. Is there now an updated file/doc for this with regards to 10.5 Leopard? Or is every important file's location still located in the same location? Thanks

    Hi Teal,
I'm a big "foggy" on a lot of the OS X 10.3 "Panther" stuff but I think you'll find OS X 10.5 to be pretty similar in most regards.
As far as your user information, everything related to your user will be in the /Users/username location. The "Library" folder is probably the most important when it comes to application related data such as Safari, Mail, Address Book, iCal, etc. Some applications will have a folder directly inside the library folder (/Users/Username/Library/ApplicationName) and some will store data in the Application Support folder (/Users/Username/Library/Application Support/ApplicationName)
The important thing, is that all of your user data is stored in the /Users/Username location that will often be represented by a "House" icon when signed into that user.
Where it gets a little tricky, is some applications will store data in the /Users/Shared location and the /Library location. So if you ever do a total system migration there's a possibility you'll need to reinstall some applications. A Time Machine backup can assist with system migrations as it does a full and complete backup of your HD, including the User's home folder.

  • Spotlight Doesn't Search Imported Email Folders

I recently bought a new Macbook Pro 15in. (first Mac) and used PST Converter Pro to convert about 20,000 emails from Outlook on my PC. From what I can tell, the emails seem to be all there and I can read them just fine. I cannot, however, use Spotlight to find anything in the On My Mac/Import Folders. All the indexing options for Spotlight are turned on. How do I get search to work for these imported emails?

You can use the terminal command:
    mdimport -L
to see the list of importers that are installed. Also, the following is probably irrelevant to your issue, but you can diagnose individual files to see how they're indexed by Spotlight:
    mdimport -d1 file
This shows the UTI (type) of the file or folder. If you get a dynamic UTI for a folder, that probably means Spotlight is not indexing the folder's contents. So far I don't know how to fix a dynamic UTI.

Jay is guessing that you mean outgoing messages. If you mean incoming messages, you can "flag" them: *Message > Mark > As Flagged*. This is also in the contextual menu.
You can also color-code messages: *Format > Show Colors*. However, you can not sort or search on color.
For even more control, there are several third-party add-ons. (These are on my To-Try list. I have not used either of these.)

    Thanks.
Note: "Format > Show Colors" does not allow coloring of the index entries in the mailbox itself, as far as I can tell.
Flagging is better than nothing and I will use that for now.
    Thanks again, both of you.

  • Why is it taking so long for important emails to g...

Hi, very important emails have taken 12, 14 and 10 hours to reach my inbox. Therefore it was too late for me to carry on with my action regarding them.
I noticed that the last one was actually sent to me at 9.50am and I received it at 7.50pm !!! I should have received it within a few minutes.
Can anyone help me? as it is very important that I respond to these emails within an hour of them being sent.
    Thanks!

    Welcome to this forum.
If they are that important, then I would suggest that you use an alternative e-mail service. If these e-mails are business related, then you are not allowed to your BT Residential account for business use anyway.
BT Business, and other commercial e-mail systems, are guaranteed to deliver mail quickly.

  • I updated my MobileMe account to iCloud, but I missed all my important emails

I updated my MobileMe account to iCloud last week. And I can not connet to mail account for almost one week. After I change the password, it works. But I missed all my important emails? Any one can help me?

Your signature says you are using 10.6.8 - this cannot work with iCloud. 10.7.2 is required (as you were warned during the migration process), and if your Mac has the specification for it you should consider upgrading (though be aware that old PPC programs such as Appleworks will no longer work).
This is the situation on Snow Leopard when you have migrated from MobileMe:
Your email, calendars, and 'Find my iPhone' will be migrated to iCloud. Contacts and Bookmarks cannot be migrated from a Snow Leopard Mac.
Your iDisk, together with website hosting and Gallery, will continue to work as before until next June.
Syncing of Dashboard Widgets, Dock Items and Keychains between Macs, and Mail Accounts, Mail Rules, System Preferences, Signatures & Smart Mailboxes between Macs & iOS devices, will cease altogether.
You will be able to access email and calendars on the iCloud website at http://icloud.com provided your browser is reasonably up-to-date.
You will not be able to sync contacts or bookmarks from a pre-Lion Mac.
You will be able to enter the server settings for email manually in the Mail application and access your email.
You will not be able to sync your calendars directly.
Some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point.  BusyCal is an iCal-like calendar application with extra facilities: it can sync with the iCloud Calendar while running on Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion.
There appears to be no method of syncing contacts (though Address Book on a Mac can be synced with Google or Yahoo address books - I don't know how reliable this is).
The requirements for upgrading to Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Lion is $29.99 and is obtained from the Mac App Store.
