Where is my LR catalog?!?

I know this is going to have all of you throwing your hands in the air, but ... I've lost a LR catelog that I made independently (in order to keep things simple and to allow me to work fast on a particularly complex project)? I did a search for the name of the catalog and also for ".lrcat" and nothing shows (not even the catalog I have open, so I don't even know why they call it Finder) and there's nothing in the Apple Pictures folder (where a couple of other catalogs are stored). It's not showing as a recent catalog either. I know it's there somewhere! Thanks for any help.

Then go to File->Open Recent. The other catalog should be listed and you can click on it to open. Then you can use the same procedure I mentioned above to find out where it is located.

    Hi,
Open the SCUP settings and click Find on the Import List tab. That will find some of the catalogs. You can also download catalogs from:
    Adobe Flash Player catralog -

  • Where Does Lightroom Store  Catalogs, Previews, and Backups?

    1.   By default, where does LR store:
    a. Catalogs (.lrcat)
    b. Previews (.lrdata)
    c. Backups of Catalogs and Previews
    2.  Can these locations be changed?
2a. If so, how does one specify where LR will store each of the above?
    3. Is there a specific relationship of location the Catalog, the Preview, and the Backups, or any partial combination of those three,  must remain in?
    3a. If so, what is/are that/those relationships?

    a) By default in the Lightroom folder within My Pictures / Pictures
    b) Always in the same folder as the catalogue
    c) Wherever you tell it - which should be somewhere different. No backup of Previews.
Re 2, just move the catalogue in Explorer / Finder, double click it. If you didn't move the Previews, LR starts a new one in the same folder as the catalogue, following (b) above.
Re 3, answered above. Backups can / should be elsewhere and it's your choice where.
Notice that in Catalog Settings there's a Show button that reveals where your catalogue is.

  • Where is my Lightroom catalog?

Help! I lost a 1TB external hard drive of my photos(my whole collection).  When I went to upload my files from my backup drive, I noticed my catalog was empty(all my edits gone).  Im not sure what happened, but I tried to look in the "backup" folder that lightroom backs up the catalog to, and that seems empty as well.....Im using Lightroom 5.6 on a mac book pro with the latest operation system.  Admittedly im not very computer savvy, so this is frustrating.  I have thousands of edits im missing.  Even stranger is the 3TB external I use a "time machine" should contain backup files of my lightroom catalog(I think?) but it has a folder of about 100 random edits in it.....Im fearing the worst here......any help would be appreciated......The lightroom catalog was stored on my mac hard disk, not the 1TB hard drive I lost, so Im confused as to why I lost all edits.........

The LR catalog is a file ending in the extension ".lrcat".  Perhaps it wasn't stored where you think it was.  You could try using Spotlight to search for it, though my own experience is that Spotlight is not reliable for searching the entire drive.  I suggest downloading the free EasyFind app from the Mac app store and searching your Macintosh hard drive for ".lrcat" (with the options Only Files, Phrase, Ignore Case, Package Contents, and Invisible Files & Folders).

  • Where is the PSE9 catalog?

I upgraded from PSE8 to 9. I had set up all my photos in c:\adobedata\photos and the catalog from PSE8 in c:\adobedata\catalog so that I could synchronise PSE8 between my desktop and laptop. When I upgraded to PSE9, the program converted my catalog.
Now my question? Has PSE9 left me catalog in the same place, or has it created a new one? If so, where is it and what is its name?
I am running Windows 7, btw.

Yup. All good. Adobe's logic escaped me for a moment. I was thinking the path would be found somewhere in Preferences. I moved the catalog folder, opened it from its new place and checked in Help>System Info to confirm PSE9 was looking in the right place now. Thanks for your help.

  • Where can I obtain (Catalog Information)?

    Finally, (Hemdella)
I managed to get my EIN by calling the IRS..
Now I'm in the process of creating an account on (iTunes Connect),
I created my book using iBooksAuthor; and now I'm kinda stuck on this step (Catalog Information)
    These are the questions:
Number of titles in active print catalog
Number of titles with digital rights
Number of titles currently in EPUB format
Number of titles with digital rights in PDF format (not yet converted to EPUB)
Average monthly number of new frontlist titles
I don't know where I can find the answers to these questions!
Because I didn't create EPUB or something..
    Thanks.

Yes my friend, it says at the top (iTunes Connect)
    and I quote:
    About Your Books
Once your application is approved, there is no limit on the number of books you can distribute through the iBookstore.
What I did is I clicked on (Publish) from the iBooksAuthor and followed the steps on how to publish it.
I've never published a book before; using iBookstore or iBooksAuthor.

  • Where to keep the catalog

I understand it is a good idea for both safety and speed to keep the lrcat on the hard drive.  All my photos are stored on an EHD, as is, currently, my lrcat.  Since I have gotten into trouble moving things around, I'd like to hear how to move the lrcat onto the IHD, so that LR finds it there and backs it up there.

I'd like to hear how to move the lrcat onto the IHD, so that LR finds it there and backs it up there.
You can move the catalog file using Windows or Mac operating system. Just move the file (and any subfolders that are in the same directory) to wherever you want, and then double-click on the catalog file.

  • Where is my lost catalog?

I was working with a group of 12 photos in my cataalog, and it went away.  I tried to revive, no luck.  So I tried to import the items again -- the screen would not allow it because they were already in the catalog.  How can I recover???
    Thank you

Can you please check if some media filter switched off accidently. This can be checked through View->Media types.
Or else you can make a new catalog through File->Manage Catalogs->New and import images in this new catalog.

  • Where is the Help Catalog stored?

In user form we can specify a Help Catalog which actually displays a help page when we click on help link on top right corner. For example, I see "user/enduser-help.xml" in Enable User Form. Anyway, I cannot see any enduser-help.xml under <idm>/user directory. I wish to modify/add some help catalogs, can anyone guide me? Thanks.

In case anyone is interested, I have found out that he help catalog are residing in idm.jar - com\waveset\msgcat\help\configure package.

  • Where place cache and catalog with SSD

LR 5.2 RC, Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit.  24GB of memory on its way.
I just installed an SSD for my O/S applications and such.  For Photoshop, I know what (hopefully) should go there.
I looked in here and found some discussions about putting cache and catalog on the SSD but previews on a separate HD.
Other than eventually wearing out the SSD, is there any reason NOT to put my heavily used catalogs and previews on the SSD with the LR cache?  I can keep the stuff I rarely have to mess with on a separate HD, and of course, the images aren't moving, but it seems like previews would LIKE to be on the SSD...
Thoughts?  Issues that would make it a bad idea?

Well, y'all, it took ONE DAY for my stupid human trick to bite me..........................
Regardless of what the various optimization scenarios tell you, DO NOT get rid of your pagefile!
FIRST TIME I fired up Photoshop, with one D300 image open (these are small, 12 megapixel images), and opened another, did an increase to the canvas size and tried to do a content-aware fill, I immediately go the "OUT OF MEMORY" popup.........
The only way I could do the fill was to kill PS CC, restart it, ONLY open the image I wanted to expand, do the fill, then shut it all down again...
Shortly thereafter, I created a medium sized pagefile on a separate HD and rebooted...
<still waiting, but not quite as patiently, for the new memory to arrive>

  • Saving catalog to another location

Since I had a lot of repair work to do after moving files incorrectly, I want to have clarity on this before making any change:  I want to keep my photos on the EHD, where they and the catalog currently reside.  I want to move the catalog to the internal hard drive and keep the photos on the EHD.  What is the best way to do this?

Copy the folder containing your catalog and the associated Previews.lrdata folder structure to the internal drive. I would just copy the folder from the external hard drive to your internal drive. Then start Lightroom and open the catalog in its new location. All your links etc in your catalog to your photos will be preserved.
(I would do the copy  using operating system, and I would copy rather than move; if anything does not appear to work, then at least you can always continue to use your catalog on the external drive. If all goes well, then after a day or two, I would remove the catalog and associated previews folder from your external drive.)

  • I have mistakenly created two separate catalogs, one in 5.6 and one in Lightroom 5 original.  The latter is on my external drive, the former is on my hard drive. How do I merge them and upgrade the 5.0 main catalog?

In trying to dump my Elements 10 catalog into my LR catalog, I can see I have mistakenly created a second catalog.  My main catalog is on the external drive and remains in the original 5.0 version, the "elements 10 upgraded" was imported into the 5.6 upgrade of LR and is on my hard drive.  Can you advise how I can fix this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Barb in Virginia

OK Jim Hess, that step is done.  So on the hard drive, can I now delete:
    1. the "extra" LR catalog?
    2. the Elements 10 Catalog (which I had previously imported into one of the LR catalogs?
That leaves me with a single catalog on an external drive.  The only question is: what about backup catalogs? how do I determine where my "new consolidated" catalog is backing up to?
    thanks in advance.

  • Moving existing and future catalog files (.psa) to another HD partition? (WIN-XP-Elmnts5.0)

Does anyone know how I can tell Elements 5.0 to move all files it is creating and using, from my C: partition to my D: partition? I don't want Elements using the C: drive partition for anything (especially catalogs, thumbnails, etc...).
I have already (I think?) set the default new-catalog location to the D: drive, but I want to move the existing (and huge!) "My Catalog.psa" and everything related to it, to the D: drive where the new default catalog location is.
Is there a way to do this easily? I just completed a full (initial) backup, and moved 75% of my photos offline, so all I need to do is move the catalog files associated with them. (For reference, the photos themselves are stored on the E: partition, or DVD, not on the C: or D: drives).
    THANKS!
    Eric

    first I would suggest a
    File > Catalog > Recover
on that huge My Catalog.psa because it will cleanup and compact that catalog file.
Based on a forum tip from another participant, I used SAVE AS under the File > Catalog dialog to achieve placing a catalog and its associated Catalog Folders folder (which contains thumbnail cache and offline proxies) to a different hard drive.
During this Save AS process, I gave my Catalog a different name because I thought that it was a safer approach. The Title bar of the Organizer workspace shows the Catalog name - so I like definitively knowing what catalog I am referencing based on the catalog name.
I do recommend using a different name for the catalog when using this process.
FYI - I think that you will need to do a new Full PSE Backup after you have this newly named Catalog functioning OK on the new drive - because a PSE Backup is Catalog specific.
FYI- If you ever use the PSE File > Catalog > Open dialog, it will not not initially show this new catalog on the other drive. You must navigate yourself to the drive/folder containing your catalog and then it will work. It appears to initially only list catalogs in the default location: no big deal but disconcerting if you expect it to be present in the list and it is not.
You will still have Preferences under the user's Doc and Settings and of course, the Program Files folder structure.

  • Lightroom 5 Catalog Won't Open - PLEASE HELP

    Hi,
So, my most important lightrooom catalog won't open and I don't know what to do. Screenshot below. I guess it didn't shut down before I ejected my hard drive.

Look in the backups folder, there should be several folders that are dated, look in the latest date and open that catalog, depending how much time was between the last back up and your last work, will determine how much work you lost.
What I recommend (hind site here) is once you get your catalog open is save a catalog first in a location easy to get to, normally where your old corrupted catalog was. then select all images then save. (ctrl/cmd-s) This will write the metadata to your files on the drive or side car files(depending how you set it up and if they are raw or jpg. ) Then you will have this for a backup, as you will know that all edits you have done are in the metadata, therefore you can create a new catalog and import all files to get back to where you were.
That said, use this method as a last case scenario, normally using a back up catalog would be good enough. However, if something happened to that main folder, like corrupted segments on the drive, you would have your images to fall back on, or at least those you can access.
But if your backing up to an external drive, you should be alright anyway.
I tend to go over board with backing up since I had a drive that crash a few years ago.
