Where is my music in Itunes after I backed up on Icloud?

Help a computer iliterate person out here please. Wheres my tunes?!?!?!?

Where are you looking for your music?  Your backup doesn't contain your music; it should be in your iTunes library on your computer.
Can you explain what you are trying to do?

  • HT1879 where is my music in itunes after purchase?

why doesn't purchased music appear in itunes? I bought an album- it says "purchased" under the album and next to the songs, but I can't see the music in my collection, and there is no apparent way to get it into my music on itunes. Any ideas?

If you restart itunes, your music should show up. Also you can plug your device in (if your using it for an ipod, iphone, etc) and click on the button that says the device's name. From there you click music and see if its listed under selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres. Hope this helped!

  • Where's the music on iTunes, and what's with the quality and compatibility?

I'm just curious as to whether anyone else has had this issue or not: Does anyone else feel like, after searching for specific songs, there's just little to nothing in the database? I feel like most of my searches are pointless because iTunes has either no data of my requested search and/or only has bits and pieces of it.
Another question I have: After having a slightly successful search, why am I left with low quality tunes? I mean, you can hear the compression... badly. (I know it's not my speakers)
Last question: If I'm paying for the song, shouldn't I be allowed to download a universal file? iTunes uses a unique format that no other application uses. In other words, more money has to be spend for m4a to mp3 converters (unless you're a cracker [not a racial comment]).
To me, I value iTunes and its team, so I'm sorry if I've offended anyone. I understand there are contracts involved with the artists and it's hard to please ALL of the subscribers. But seriously, where's the music on iTunes, and what's with the quality and compatibility?
Custom   Windows XP Pro   Negative, I am a meat popsicle.

Today I thought of finally putting lyrics on my songs. So I've been quite some time busy doing that, then I tried it on my iPad (2) and I can't find them. Just as the people above say. Then I went to search where I can find them and I found this page. I'm really dissapointed and I don't understand how something like this could happen. So I hope Apple will fix this soon.

  • Lost music from iTunes after upgrading MacBookPro to OS X Yosemite

Lost music from iTunes after upgrading MacBookPro to OS X Yosemite. Has anyone had this problem? How did you re-import all your lost music? My iTunes currently only contains all of the music I have purchased from the iTunes Store but nothing that was burned to my iTunes. All of my music files still seem to be located on my hard drive within the iTunes folder but they did not re-import into the library during the upgrade to Yosemite. Thanx for your help.

    Hi OrangeOAK,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you still have the music on the computer but need to re add it to iTunes. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.
Adding music and other content to iTunes - Apple Support
Adding content on your computer to iTunes
iTunes helps you add digital audio and video files on your computer directly to your iTunes library. You can add audio files that are in AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, or Audible.com (.aa) format. If you have unprotected WMA content, iTunes for Windows can convert these files to one of these formats. You can also add video content in QuickTime or MPEG-4 format to iTunes. To learn how to add these files to iTunes follow the steps below.
    Open iTunes
From the File menu, choose one of the following choices:
    MacAdd to Library
    Windows
    Add File to Library
    Add Folder to Library
Navigate to and select the file or folder that you want to add
If iTunes is set to "Copy files to the iTunes Music folder when adding to library," iTunes will copy all content that is added to the iTunes library to the iTunes Music folder. To adjust this setting or change the location of this folder, go to the Advanced tab in iTunes Preferences.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a great day,
    Mario

  • HT1391 cant play my music in itunes after copying to larger hard drive.

cant play my music in itunes after copying to larger hard drive.

I'm guessing you moved rather than copying.
What steps exactly did you take?
If you moved the iTunes Media folder from <User's Music> iTunes to some random location then that is wrong way to do it. You haven't complained of an empty library so I'm guessing that's what you did.
What generally works is to move the entire iTunes folder to say X:\iTunes, and then hold down shift as you start iTunes. You should get a prompt asking you to choose or create a library. Click choose and browse to the moved library.
If you moved just the media folder then move the main iTunes folder, shift the media folder inside, then shift-start-iTunes. It should all come together.

  • I have lost a lot of music in itunes after re-downloading it on my computer.

I have lost a lot of music in itunes after re-downloading it on my computer. I also need to find out how to transfer songs from my ipod to my itunes on my computer.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
You can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
In the U.S you can use the recently released icloud beta to get purchases.  Open itunes store, click Purchased under Quick Links

  • Missing music in Itunes after software upgrade

I upgraded to ITunes 11 today; I was suprised not to have any of my music in ITunes when I started the program after the upgrade.  What happen to all of my songs and APPS?  and How do I get them pack?
    Thanks

I'm having the same issue. I'm using Windows 7 on a Dell PC. When I first upgraded iTunes to 10.4, the store would not load at all. I uninstalled every Apple product including Quicktime, and reinstalled them. iTunes seemed to be working normally for a while, but now it has difficulty closing, and when I open it again my library is gone. I have reconstructed my library and playlists several times, and this keeps happening! The store does seem to be working, but is slow to load initially. I have also excluded iTunes from my virus scan (I read that could help). Apple, this upgrade is full of quirks!

  • Lost all my music in itunes after computer crash

Lost all my music in itunes when computer crashed.  itune store doesn't show all my purchases.  How do I get all my music back?

Browse your iTunes folder.  Do you have files in folder in your media folder?  In other words, did you really lose the media or did iTunes just lose track of it?
Of course you have a backup you make of your computer before doing any major updates, right?

unless you can find @ least your .xml file, there is little alternative but to start with a new, empty library. fire up iTunes with the option key pressed and choose +create library+. then file > add to library and navigate to the folder containing your media files.

  • Problem with itunes after reverting back to mavericks from yosemite

I can't get iTunes to open my library after reverting back to Mavericks from the beta Yosemite. It says "iTunes cannot open this library because it was created with a newer version of iTunes." It then asks if I want to download the latest version and when I click download it takes me to the app store and says that I have the latest version. Which was downloaded when I was running Yosemite. I even downloaded the latest version from the website and it still won't open the library.
    Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your input.
    Bob

I don't know which actual versions you are seeing because I don't have Yosemite.  You're not really supposed  to discuss any issues related to beta test versions on the open forums.  I believe there is an iTunes 12 out in beta which may have been what you were running.  You don't say how you reverted to Mavericks.
The underlying issue is the file called "iTunes Library.itl"  Once you open it with a newer version it can no longer be opened by an earlier version.  However, when you do an upgrade it makes a copy of the older version and you can rename this to make a file which can be opened with the older iTunes. However, this will not reflect any changes made to your library.  Any media added will still be present in the media folder but it will have to be added to the old library.

Beta software testers are advised not to run software on their main computers, and will usually be familiar with how to restore to older versions and the working of computers.  The new public beta with Yosemite is a change in behavior for Apple but of course means a lot of people want to be a tester but don't really know what that means.

  • HT2905 How to restore music to itunes after purchasing album and update itunes to newest version

Okay last night I bought the Carter IV and I had problems with my gift card. So eventually I updated my itunes to the most current for my windows 7. Now the issue is I have no music accept the purchased album, and in my "music folder" in Previous Itunes Libraries I dont see the thousands of songs and videos I had on itunes! so If anybody can help it would be most appreciated.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
This assumes that you are currently connected to the library file in the main iTunes folder, if you've somehow managed to connect to an alternate file then hold down shift as you start iTunes so that you get options to "Choose or create a library", then choose the library file in question.
There should shouldn't be a Music folder in Previous iTunes Libraries which makes me suspect you've picked the wrong file at some point, where it happens to be, rather than restoring it as outlined above.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • Reinstalling music to Itunes after reformat

Hi there everyone. Now I know this has been discussed all over the boards, and believe me, I searched before I posted this. But I am just on my last nerve here. I love my ipod, but I am just so frustrated that I can do everything else, but easily reinstall my music. I don't understand why this is such a difficult task and I hope in the future Apple makes this easier.
Anyhoo, here's my situation. My computer had a virus and there was no way to backup my library of over 2,000 songs.. :/ I surfed the boards and came upon the ever so popular thread about MacMuses' manual way of doing this, so I tried it. Well, needless to say in the middle of making a copy of my control/music file, I hit cancel ( Don't ask me why) I tried to redo this whole procedure and it did not work. I am just so frustrated right now. All I want it so obtain my library so I can continue with my music collection. Is there anyway I can redo this whole procedure, because it seems no matter what I try I can't. I know you are all probably so tired of reading about this issue, but I am just looking for some answers and after sitting for 2 hours and reading the boards, I just don't see what I'm looking for. I would appreciate any help anyone can supply. Thank you in advance.

Try some of these other methods to recover your songs....
These links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…
Don King Resurrected: Deleted files from hard drive (free user steps – music recovery only)
MacMuse: Computer Crashed (free user steps – music recovery only)
Copying music from iPod to computer (a primer on various methods and software)
Copying Songs from Your iPod to a Mac or PC (resource for 3rd party software)
    iPodRip Software
    PodUtil Software
YamiPod Software (Free: Mac & Windows)
    PodPlus Software (Windows)
    TuneJack Software (Windows)
Senuti (Mac OS X v10.3 or higher Recovery Utility)
XPlay (Windows software For Music Recovery &/or Cross-Platform Functionality)
XPlay Photo Browser (For recovering Photos)
Extremely Simple & Free Method: (just to recover the song files – may not work on a Mac)
    1 - Open iTunes
    2 - Edit=>Preferences=>’Advanced/General’ tab
2a --- Select ‘Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library’: checked
2b --- Select ‘Keep iTunes Music folder organized’: checked
2c --- Click OK to store changes
3 - Attach your iPod to the PC and hold down the ‘Shift+Ctrl’ keys until the iPod is fully recognized (this will defeat the auto-sync process)
4 - If you get a dialog box to link the Library, decline this option
5 - Within iTunes: Edit=>Preferences=>’iPod’ tab: switch iPod to manual transfer – click ‘OK’
    6 – Eject iPod
7 – Close iTunes, then reopen iTunes and attach the iPod (it’s in manual sync now)
    8 – File=>Add Folder
9 - Browse to and open ‘My Computer’ (click on the ‘+’) and select the iPod
    10 - Click OK
-- The music files should start to transfer back into iTunes with its correct information
–-- This will take some time depending on your PC’s speed and the amount of songs on the iPod
No Playlists, or Ratings, Last Played, & Play Count attributes will be transferred from the iPod to iTunes using this method.
If you have problems with seeing the iPod within 'My Computer', try again switching your update method to 'manual', detach the iPod, then reconnect the iPod to the PC.
After recovering your Library, strongly consider developing a thorough and frequent backup strategy for just this type of situation (and many other potential disasters).
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?
Here is a post on developing a thorough backup strategy:

  • IPhone4s updated to IOS.7 unable to sync music with iTunes after updated to 11.1

I just recently updated both my iPhone4s to IOS.7 and iTunes to 11.1, but since then I haven't been able to sync any of my music.
    I tried everything:
    - I restarted my iTunes and iPhone and my PC a couple of times
    - Uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes
    - Syncing with wifi and other options repeatedly *Manually managing music as well
    - thorough check of album or song errors
    - restored iPhone
    - creating a new library playlist
    - and other suggested measures to be taken provided through discussions
At the end it always ends up syncing to the very last step "Waiting for changes to be applied" ; everything is working nothing is frozen or glitched, the syncing arrows that go around also work, but after sometime the arrows stop and then it just doesn't seem to proceed after that step.
Can someone please find a solution for this? Or atleast give me some other methods that might solve my problem. If this is a bug, please do make some update arrangements to fix this error! >.<

    - Downgrading the iPod is not supported by Apple.
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try restoring your iPod. First from backup and if problem persists restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
