Where is my open document password?
where is my open document password?
Hi dealguy1000,
An Open Document password is set by the person who created the PDF. To open that file, you'll need to ask the person who created it to supply the password.
Best,
Sara

Hi dealguy1000,
You will need to ask the person who created the PDF file to provide the Open Document password. I hope you're able to track it down.

Where is the "Open Firmware Password" utility on the 10.5 disk?
Ok, I want to set the Open Firmware Password on my MacBook Pro. I'm running 10.5.2. I read that you have to get it from the 10.5 install disk but I cannot find it.
Anybody know where it's hidden?
Thanks,
MarkEverything you need to know is here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106482
EDIT: Oops, it looks like that document has not yet been updated for Leopard.
You need to boot from your 10.5 DVD, select English, and then select Firmware Password Utility from the Utilities menu. -
I would like to password protect editing of a placed PDF. I have set the PDF Open Doc password to false and the Edit permissions to true. Illustrator still requires the permissions password to OPEN the Illustrator document. This would defeat the purpose, no?
Well, it does seem to work, sort of. The Illustrator document with a placed, protected PDF asks for the password when opening. The password is also required when attempting to embed (edit) the linked PDF, as expected.
I would think the correct behavior should be for the Open Document password protection (or lack of) to control opening the Illustrator document and the Edit Permissions password to be applied when embedding or flattening the linked PDF, making it accessable to editing. Acrobat seems to be able to make this distinction.
This would be a significant feature for users who need to restrict editing of sensitive portions of their layouts while allowing necessary prepress work downstream. -

Hello, I am trying to send an email where the recipient opens the PDF file with a password, can anybody show me how to do that
Hi surez,
To password protect a PDF file, you need to use Acrobat. If you don't have Acrobat, you can try it for free for 30 days. See www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html for more information.
In Acrobat, you choose File > Properties when the document is open, and then click the Security tab to set up a password.
Please let us know how it goes.

No longer can open a password proteced document in Pages
Hi,
I have a password protected document that I've been using for a long time. Now I am unable to open it. I get a message saying that my password is wrong. One thing I did a couple of days ago that has to do with passwords: I attempted to make a Pages file password protected. I tried to follow the directions from this webpage: can you password protect pages folders. I thought I followed the steps correctly, but later I found that I am able to open the file and the document inside with out a password. So I moved the image file--that I had created in the process--to the trash then emptied the trash.
The password document I am interested to open was not in the file I tried to password protect, nor I tampered with this document for the last two weeks.
I am using Pages 5.5.2 on with OS X 10.10.2 on mac air.
My mac has installed Security Update 2015-003 V.1 on March 20th. I can't figure out if this security update was installed before or after I tried to password protect the file I mentioned above.
Is there a way I can solve this issue and be able to open my password document?
Thanks
Louis…or with the chiclet keyboards have it drop characters randomly without you noticing.
I spent the last 2 days trying to get back into a bank account I know the password to, only finally noticing there were too few dots when I typed.
Sometimes OS X even tries to spell correct passwords and CATCHAs.

Ask the person who created the document for the password.

I can't open documents in Adobe because my password is not recognised. I have changed my password and it still doesn't work. I use an iMac. I have downloaded the latest adobe reader which doesn't recognise my password. Please help.
Ok, that is definitely the answer. This message comes from the Mac and doesn't want a password for the PDFs. And it doesn't want your Adobe ID. It wants the administrator password you chose when you first switched on the Mac.
Or, are you entering the right password, but you get the message again the next time you run Adobe Reader? -
When I open my Pages app and try to open my previously password protected document it doesn't require me to enter the password to see the document. It just takes me straight to the document like any other document that isn't password protected. Isn't this the point of having a document password protected so no one can see it without knowing the password? Am I missing something when I set the password in the first place? Thanks.
When you set a password in Pages v5(.2), you are offered a check box to remember the saved password in your keychain. If you do not enable this check box, you will always be prompted locally for the document password. If checked, before opening the document, Pages queries keychain if it knows anything about the current local document security, and once confirmed, it simply opens the document without a challenge.
To disable the keychain knowledge for the local document, you open the document, and choose File > Change Password… . Enter the current (old) password only, then select the Remove Password button. Now, you can use File > Set Password… again to set the password, and omit the Remember this password in my keychain option. The desired document password prompt will occur on your local (and remote) access. -
When i download the document, they want my password. is the password the same as my account password? if not, i really don't know where i can find the password. by the way, i tried my account password many times, but it failed many times.
If this involves downloading Adobe software then it is probably your computer's security password, nothing to do with Adobe.

Where do you store documents and passwords on Ipad?
where do you store documents and passwords on Ipad?
Usually on the iPad, documents are associated with a particular app, which has its storage area for documents. A good Swiss Army Knife for docs is GoodReader.
Do a search in the iTunes App Store and you will find scores of password apps. -
How do I access Excel on my Mac after downloading Lion. I get the message that Power PC applications are no longer supported. numbers won't open excel password protected documents
Well, check that this is Pro workstation, not Lion, and not MBP....
Rosetta / PowerPC is not supported, so you must also have an out of date version of Office like 2004 or earlier. 2008 and 2011 do work, though there may be 3rd party extensions or plug-ins that do not.

How do you download attachments in iPad and once downloaded, where do you open it?
do you have the evernote app?
ok, well if you open a doc in mail app to preview it, it should say export to evernote, or another app that allows you to open files like good reader, ibooks, so it really just depends on the file type.
if it is a picture then hold down on the photo and it will ask if you want to save it. -
Everyting I'm reading says I have to use either a windows computer, or have the creator send the document to me as unprotected.
Seems like if you didn't have access to a windows computer, and didn't have time to wait for the creator to send a new version, there would be a work around.
I've moved over Mac, and am trying to convince my wife to do the same. However, she's concerned that since she runs her legal firm out of her home office, she will run into situation in which can can get something done if she's on a Mac. I almost had her convinced this would never happen, and then she got this password protected powerpoint that she had to share with another attorney, who responded to her that when she tried to open it, she got a message that it couldn't open a password protected document. I tried it on my Macbook Pro and got the same message.
Anyone know if there's an easy work around for this?
(p.s. I saw a post where someone used NeoOffice for a similar situation with a password protected Excel document, but since I'm on Lion and it requires a $10 donation, I didn't want to shell out $10 just to find out it wouldn't work.)
Thanks,
JeffYes... and it works...
Because you really are running a full-up Windows inside a window running on Lion....
VMWare emulates a hardware computer.... and you install Windows, then Microsoft Office for Windows...
And you end up with a "machine within a machine"...
BUT... BUT....
You have to purchase one of each:
VMWare Fusion
Microsoft Windows
Microsoft Office for Windows (not the same license as Microsoft Office for MAC..)
This won't be cheap... it will cost money...
But I do it all the time...
