Where is my operating system?

Before you ask I want to ask forgiveness for my English. I used a translator.
I bought a Macbook pro 2011, along with pre-installed OS X Lion. There was no disk with the operating system in a box. When I went into a Mac App Store, I found that OS X Lion had the inscription "install", but "buying" it did not appear. I forgot about it and now, after three months have passed, I noticed that under OS X Lion was written the price, rather than "install" Therefore, I again need to buy a OS if I want to reinstall it on my laptop? But what about the "every laptop comes with free OS X"?

That is to install OS X Lion on the OS X Lion I can not? And if the system is Recovery HD will also not available, or is it impossible?

  • Dude, where's my operating system?

Just got a MacBook Air. I noticed it did not include a copy of the OS for reinstallation purposes. I figured it would be on a flash drive in the box but no such luck. If I ever need to reinstall, howz that gonna work?

    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
An invisible partition is on your drive called Recovery HD. You boot it using the above procedure. From there you can use Disk Utility, reinstall OS X, restore a TM backup, etc. Installer discs are no longer needed. If you have to reinstall Lion it's done via Internet Recovery.

  • How do I copy my operating system to a solid state drive and make it the disk I boot from?

How do I copy my operating system to a solid state drive and make it the disc I boot from?

Where is your operating system now? Basically, you clone it from wherever it is now to the SSD:
Clone Lion/Mountain Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue button.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the SSD. Source means the drive now holding OS X.

  • Is it possible to run two different versions of Apple operating system (for ex. 10.6.8 and 10.9) on a MacBook Pro, either on the same disk or from an external hard disk? If so, where would I find the details?

Is it possible to run two different versions of Apple operating system (for ex. 10.6.8 and 10.9) on a MacBook Pro, either on the same disk or from an external hard disk? If so, where would I find the details? (In order to be able to use the older applications no longer supported in 10.9)

If you want to add a second partition to the internal drive (in Disk Utility, select the drive, then open the partition tab and just click the + button), you should first be sure that you will have enough room to accommodate whatever the second volume will be. I am currently doing this for Snow and Mountain Lion.
To get to whatever volume is not the startup disk, restart and hold down option/alt at the chime, which will bring up a selection of the two volumes. Use the left or right arrow keys to select it and then hit enter/return.

I saw that the new version of firefox had come out, and I was prompted to download it. Version 4.0 asked me if it could replace the old version and I said yes. When I discovered my operating system would not support v 4.0, I was unable to find where to re-download the old (3.6) version. Currently, Im being forced to use safari. PLEASE HELP!

What version of iPhoto. iPhoto 11 9.4.3 (720.91)
What version of the Operating System. OSX 10.8.3
Detail.  I Attach my camera and the fields where the photos usually show up are empty and at the top of the screen it says all photos from camera are downloaded. But they are not. They can't be.
I fixed the problem somewhat myself by removing the miniSD and manually inserting it. It did not populate automatically. I had to open iPhoto and then it populated only the most recent photos I had taken which fortunately were the only ones I need. No error messages this seems to be a new occurrence.
Is there a way to just turn iPhoto off and download my photos to the folder of my own choosing?

Sure - in the iPhoto prefercences set action when a camera is ocnnected to Image Capture

  • I upgraded to the new operating system, OS Yosemite. When I open iPhoto, I can't find my pictures that were downloaded over the last two years. Where are they?

I upgraded operating systems and now I can't find my photos in iPhoto. There are only random photos, but I can't find all the other albums I had. Where are they?

    Silly question first... when "deleting duplicates", did you delete the picturs or music folders? :}
Are the "Previous system" folders still there? Are the photos/music inside the recent Previous folder?
Have you tried doing a search for the files?
Do you have a new account set up, that you are now signed in to, rather than your old account?

Where do I find my iPhoto library in the latest operating system?
In the folder you selected, when you created the iPhoto Library. By default the library is called "iPhoto Library.photolibrary" and in the Pictures folder, like Barry Hemphill pointed out, but you could have selected a different folder.
iPhoto '11 can tell you the path to the library: Ctrl-click the title "iPhoto" in the title bar of the iPhoto application window. You will see the path to the current iPhoto library in the drop down menu:

Well, first you need to buy the hardware, a pseries/system p box, and afaik the os is included.
As an alternative, maybe you can look into getting remote access to AIX host.
