Where is my overscan slider?

My Macbook pro late 09 model when in my henge dock does not fit the TV while my brothers early 11 model does. The difference is he has the overscan slider option where mine just has a box thats says "overscan" that can be checked, and when it is the image is to large. Is this a hardware limitation on my mac? Also, I forgot to mention we are both on version 10.6.8.

I'm trying to run my Macbook pro to my LG plasma Tv. My problem is it doesn't fit the screen with black bars on all sides. If I click the overscan box, under displays in system preferences, it makes the image too large for the screen. On my brothers mac under his Overscan check box he has a slider that adjusts the image size. My question is why do I not have a slider to adjust the picture and how would I get that option?

In iPhoto 6 there is no Shuffle option in the slideshow mode. However, if you select an album or a number of photos in the library and use the Play button in the toolbar at the bottom there will be a Shuffle option in the Settings window. That's the only place you'll be able to shuffle the slides.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

Where is the opacity slider in the color picker?

Where has the opacity slider gone in the color picker? It used to be underneath the color wheel.

Based on some reading of related discussions, and some experimentation on my own system, it looks like the opacity slider only appears in some contexts and programs. For instance, it doesn't show up when I am choosing a font colour in Word 2011 or TextEdit. It does show up when I am choosing a font colour in Omnigraffle.
Some other articles seemed to suggest it was related to whether there was a background behind whatever the colour was being set on - perhaps that makes sense as opacity only affects whether you can see through something, and if there's nothing to see behind it perhaps it is sometimes thought to serve no purpose? Perhaps it only works when the program chooses to support it? Searching Word help for "opacity" returns no results, for instance.

Branching - where to place "optional" slides?

I have a button that prompts an optional set of slides. If users don’t click that button, then it just continues with the required slides. I placed the optional slides at the end of the Captivate project but since I have a playback tool, it just continues after the last required slide. I want to “hide” the optional slides so that they only show if users click the button. Where should I place these slides? If I place them at the end of the project, what should I do in terms of properties to my last required slide so that the program stops? Please keep in mind that I am using a playback for navigation in addition to clickboxes to force the program to stop at every slide. I cannot remove the playback. It is required.

You will need to set up a user variable to track whether or not the button for these optional slides was clicked or not, then you'll need to use Conditional Advanced Actions triggered by the On Slide Enter event for the optional slides to decide whether to play each one or skip each one.

Where is the shuttle slider in Premiere Elements 13?

The shuttle slider is not visible and I cannot seem to find a menu option to make it so. All other playback controls are visible, but not the slider. Can someone help?

I was just doing some checking out of Premiere Elements 13 Keyboard Customization and came across some information for you to check out with regard to the preview Shuttle function default keyboard shortcut command in the non Full Screen view.
In the non Full Screen view, please check out...
Shuttle Left function with the command of J.
Shuttle Right function with the command of L
Shuttle Slow Left function with the command of Shift+J
Shuttle Slow Right function with the command of Shift+L
Shuttle Stop function with the command of K.

Where did my brightness slider bar go????

Hi all, I have a macbook 13.3 thats having issues with the brightness. It seems to just be too bright and the blacks just don't look right. My friend showed me on his Macbook Pro how to change the brightness using the slider bar in the display preferences but I don't seem to have one. My F1 and F2 keys aren't changing the settings either so I am stumped. Any suggestions on how to go about lowering the brightness or why I don't seem to have a slider bar to adjust my screen?? Any help wold be appreciated, thanks ahead.

System Preferences/Displays-Display Tab...no slider bar? Hmm...I'm stumped. Also the F1 without hitting fn doesn't do it? wow I'd re-install OSX from your install disk or visit a genius.

Where is the zoom slider for images in Finder?

Since installing Lion, I have noticed that I can no longer make the thumbnails in a Finder window larger using a zooming slider (as is found in iPhoto). If I remember correctly, when I used to open a folder full of images in thumbnail format, I was able to use a slider at the bottom of the window to enlarge image thumbnails. Is this function no longer available, or am I missing something?

However, in SL, I could zoom in the thumbnail / or resize the icon inside the Finder window by 2 finger pinch gesture, just like what we usually do in the Safari window. Now it seems this gesture feature is not avaliable OR we need to do something in the setting in LION OS?

Where is 'recording level' slider in new GB?

In GB 6.05 there was a slider to adjust the input's recording level. I can't find it anywhere on the new version. I know there's a track volume level but that does no good if what's recorded was clipping to begin with.

The recording level is in the Smart Controls for the track:
Show the Smart Controls pane and click the button.
You may need to enlarge the Smart Controls pane by dragging the upper border.

Where did the overscan option go?!

Has anyone noticed with the recent (in the last couple of weeks or so) updates that the overscan option (when connected to a LCD screen through DVI-HDMI) has vanished?
It means now when I watch anything from my computer I have no option but to have bits cut off!

Ah, no worries, it came back when I re-plugged in the TV! I think it's either Leopard playing silly-sods as it likes to do, or erm, Leopard I guess!

Where's the opacity slider for brushes?

I don't know why but I can't seem to find the opacity slider for my brush tool. I can see the general opacity of the layer, etc. but nothing specific to the brush. I've attached a screenshot that shows my working space.

It's in the Options bar.
If you didn't hide the Options bar on purpose, turn it back on in the Window menu, or you may have to trash the preferences. See the FAQ if you don't know how.

Mouse FLIES out of no where on the next slide!!!!

So if one of my slides has a little video camera next to it.
on the next slide the Mouse flies out of the top right of the screen!!!

To FIX this.
Show mouse (an additional mouse) on the previous (video) slide.
Move this mouse to the appropriate area it should be for the next slide.
HIDE this mouse on this previous (video) slide..
--Makes no sense to me.. my wonder colleague discovered this trick!!!!

PSE8 for Mac. Where is the slide show option in the Mac version?

I just watched an Adobe TV video on how to do a slide show in PSE8, but when I go to my CREATE tab, the only slide show option is "PDF Slide Show" and when I click it, it bounces me back to Adobe Bridge and gives me a very limited set of Playback options and then produces a PDF document and not a slide show. Where is the Create Slide Show in the Mac version of PSE8?

The not-so-satisfactory answer is that, that's all there is: the pdf slideshow file is output from Bridge and plays (in my case) with Adobe Acrobat. That is, Adobe Reader will also open the pdf and play / progress at whatever time interval is selected with the Bridge pdf maker controls.
I agree: that you have to start by selecting the pdf creation in Pse 8 -which then bounces you to Bridge - is quite unintuitive. I'm just supposing that, since Bridge is literally the "bridge" to this process, it made sense to follow this logic when creating the Pse / Bridge software.

HDMI overscan to HDTV issue on x120e

I get very annoying overscan when i hook my x120e up to my Samsung UN55C6500 via HDMI. It's fine via VGA, but not via HDMI. CCC has no setting (that I can find) to fix the issue.
XBMC has it's own overscan correction so it's fine but win7 is very frustrating.
any solutions?

Has there been a fix to this problem? I have had my x120e for nearly a year, but just tried to hook it up to my 1080p HDTV via HDMI for the first time. The overscan issue is horrible -- it's not off by just a pixel or two, but by a lot! I'm running the HDTV at 1920x1080 in extended monitor mode, not cloned mode, in Windows 7 64-bit, and I have the latest ATI drivers and CCC per the Lenovo x120e driver page.
Further, while the ATI documentation claims that it can be adjusted using the overscan slider, there is no such option anywhere in the actual software -- it's as if the help manual and the software are out of sync. I've tried everything I can find in CCC, but no luck. Meanwhile, the HDTV works just fine with my cable box, my Blu-ray player, and my other laptop via HDMI. So this is definitely an x120e/ATI issue, not a problem with my HDTV. I'll never buy another Lenovo with AMD/ATI graphics -- I've had compatibility problems with a couple of them now, but never with Intel graphics. For crying out loud, this is a digital display, not a CRT, so why should any adjustments be needed at all??

Slide transition animation and image in the slide master

Hi,
I placed an image in one of the slide masters, because I want that image static in the slide background. But when I add a transition to the slides made with that master, the image I placed is animated too. Should I do something else in the slide master so the image I placed is not affected by the slide transition?

There is no such thing as an object transition, objects are animated using Builds or Actions: Inspector > Animate
I'm referring to "Object Effects" in the Transitions pull down (Object Push, Object Revolve, Object Flip, etc). So yes, technically there is an Object (transition) effect where objects transition between slides.
Backgrounds do not animate when using Builds or Actions.
True. However, if you use the last version of Keynote (before 6.5 and the Yosemite update) and place an image on the master slide it will not animate when applying many of the Object Effects.
When an action or or Build is applied to an objet, the slide or the background does not animate, only the object animates.

EnzoFT was using a slide transition therefore any object on a slide will be included in the effect.
If you try what I said above in the previous version of Keynote, it will not animate. However, I found out how to make an image on the master slide NOT animate in Keynote 6.5 (I made a comment earlier in the thread about this). Open the master slide, select the Slide Layout, change the background to Image Fill, and the image won’t animate from one slide to the next when you apply an Object Effects transition to a slide.
That is a very narrow minded personal opinion.
Selecting a transition, Build or Action should be based on how it enhances the presentation and what you want to animate; the slide, the object or both.

Use Builds or Actions.
There has been no change; Transitions affect the whole slide, Builds and Actions affect objects on a slide.
If you try what I mentioned above there has been a change. Thanks for offering advice, but doing a little research in the future before replying to issues will help with providing more accurate information.
