Where is my page loading indicator bar that used to appear in the address box?

Just updated to FF 36.0.1. Now I no longer have the red bar that used to appear in my address box that showed the progress of a page loading. Do I need to set an option somewhere or is it an extension/plugin?

If you had a progress bar in the address bar, I think that probably was created by an extension. Perhaps the extension needs to be updated? You can check for extension updates on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the right side, above the list, click the "gear" button and Check for Updates.
Also, if the extension is disabled it will appear at the bottom of the list on a grayed background. Hopefully after any available update you can re-enable it in that case.
Any improvement?

  • Why is the bar that used to be on the bottom, now twice as wide and located just below the tool bar ? How can I get it back on the bottom where it belongs!

    FF 4...how do I get that oversized bar that used to be at the bottom of the browser, now located just below the tool bar, back to its rightful place (and half the width)????
    Sometimes I wonder why I go along with these updates, they seem to be more trouble than they are worth.

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Firefox homepage changed. Lost Icons for Gmail, YouTube, etc that use to appear on the home page. How do I get them to appear back on the Firefox homepage?

    A week ago, my Firefox homepage changed and I've lost the ability to have Gmail, YouTube, etc appear at the left top of the homepage. I tried to reset by going to settings and set the default but still can not figure out how to get Gmail, YouTube, etc to appear on the homepage.
    Thank you,

    Is your home page now https://www.google.com/ ?
    If you are missing the traditional "black bar" at the top of the page, that has been replaced with an application button on the right side that looks like a grid of small squares. Some creative developers have posted add-ons to restore the old bar. I haven't tried these myself:
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/proper-menubar/ Proper Menubar]
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/you-google-bar/ +You Google Bar] - reviews indicate some problems

  • Cannot remove autofill entries that appear in the address box in Safari

    If I type a single letter into the URL address box in Safari, a complete list of all the URL's I have ever visited that starts with that letter appears. How does one get rid of this list? I have tried using Safari Preferences>Autofill>Other forms>Edit>Remove All>Done, but that does not touch these entries. I have also tried emptying the Cache, rebooting, etc. Some of these entries date back months and are way out of date. Does anyone know how to get rid of them?

    Did you check your Preferences setting for "Remove history items:"? You can set it to as little as 1 day all the way to 1 year. If you've got it set for 1 year, you need to change it.
    If that's not the problem, then what you're probably seeing are bookmarked sites (as well as sites you visited during your current browser session), which have nothing to do with AutoFill entries or history. In that case, you can remove the bookmarks you don't visit anymore. If you don't ever want to have your Address Bar autocomplete based on prior history, then you'd have to delete your history and prevent it from being saved.
    Check these possibilities and post back with more details if neither of them are the real problem.

  • When i used to download a game i use to have to click to allow certain downloads. now i cannot find the bar. it used to appear at the top of the screen

    when i used to download a game or a programme i use to have a tab that used to ask if i allow the programme or an extension to download. now i cannot find it any more with the new firefox. can you tell me where to look?

    You can check if you see a download action for that file tab in Tools > Options > Applications
    You can delete the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox Profile Folder to reset all file actions.

  • I have a thick grey bar that has suddenly appeared at the top of my viewing screen below the navigation bar. it has a symbol that looks like the add-on tool

    The symbol in the middle of the bar is a box with an arrow in it and two small round cylinders on top.
    If I right click on the bar and inspect element it returns object#SCB_Bar Then if I copy inner HTML element it gives me this info.

    Something that appears on all pages could be a feature of an add-on. You could review your extensions and disable ALL nonessential ones here:
    orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions category
    Take nothing for granted because rogue add-ons may use the names of other publishers and products, including Mozilla and Firefox.

  • On versions 4, what happeded to the Stop Loading "X" command that used be on the upper-left toolbar?

    I just downloaded Ver. 4.0. After doing so, I've noticed that the Stop Loading command, the X that used to reside in the upper left of the toolbar, is now gone. I've searched, but cannot find a process for replacing it. This used to be a valuable tool for me as I"m on dial-up. I use it to stop my current page from loading so I can jump to another site thus allowing it to load faster.

    Firefox 4 no longer shows a Reload and Stop button on the Navigation Toolbar, but has a button on the right end of location that shows the different states. During the page load process it shows as a Stop button and after the loading has finished the button is changed to a Stop button. If you type in the location bar then that button becomes a Go button.<br />
    You can middle-click that button to duplicate the current tab to a new tab.
    If you want the previous appearance back then you can use these steps:
    * Open the "View > Toolbars > Customize" window to move the Stop and Reload button out of the location bar.
    * Move the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position at the left side of the location bar.
    * Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
    * Set the order to "Stop - Reload" or separate them otherwise to get two distinct buttons.

  • How do I delete items from menu bar  that are not part of the OS

    How do I delete items from menu bar  that are not part of the OS

    Perhaps you could be more specific, as it is a little difficult to answer your question without any details.  I can give you some general ideas though.
    On my machine there are a few applications that have installed items into the menu bar - I'm assuming you are talking about the icons on the right hand side of the top bar. To remove those items, I would generally need to uninstall the program that created them. To do this varies a little from application to application.
    Also, sometimes an application will have preferences that allow you choose if you want to display the item in the menu bar.
    So, my general advice would be that you need to identify the application that placed the item there, and remove it from your computer.  If there is an uninstall program for that application, I would run that in the first instance.
    If you don't actually wish to uninstall the application, you may need to click on the item or run the application and see if there is a setting to not show the menu bar item.
    Hope that helps.

  • I have a orange audio bar that doesn't extend to the end of the video clip. How can I get the whole audio?

    In my video clip there is an orange bar that does't extend to the end of the clip. I think this is an audio bar. How do I get the full audio to play when I move the clip to the project?

    Did you try to set it up "as new ipod" without using the latest backup? The backup might contain damaged data causing your problem. If setting up "as new" does not work, you'll have to get it serviced.
