Where is my pop up menu for remote speakers?

Just upgraded to Lion and iTunes 10.6. Sometimes the pop up menu is there, sometimes it isn't. I've tried shutting the computer, the airport and the modem down and restarting it all. No change.

I just figured it out. I was logged into another network, so my itunes didn't recognize it and therefore wouldn't display the popup menu.

  • AirPort recognized but no pop-up window for remote speakers in iTunes

I have connected an Airport Express to an existing wireless network of multiple windows (2000 and XP) computers via a Linksys router. The base station is properly recognized (solid green LED, unit correctly identified in admin utility, and I was able to update the firmware to v.6.3 wirelessly) and I have it configured as a wireless client. I want to use it solely to stream music from iTunes to a remote stereo. When I open iTunes, there is no pop-up window offering an option to enable remote speakers. When I installed the airport software, it tried to install iTunes, but the installation aborted because I have a more current version. Is there some software on the disk that needs to be added to iTunes? What is AirTunes? Is this actual software that needs to be installed to stream iTunes to a remote location? Does it refer to the airport firmware? Is it just a "cute" name for the airport hardware (Apple marketing hype)? Thanks for any help.

Rj in WI is correct. I just started using iTunes about a month ago after my wife got an IPod. It took me about an hour of frustration and reading the instruction before I saw in the bottom right of the window "my computer". You click on that and then you can change it to the Airport network. Unfortunately It appears you can only send to only one place. I have two Aiport Expresses and I can only send it to one of the Express devices, or the computer, but not to two or all three places at one time.

  • Can not get menu for remote speakers in itunes to come back.

I've been using airport express for many years.
A few months ago my modem went out.
While waiting for a new one to arrive, I still wanted to listen to my music. So I just selected computer speakers from the drop down in lower right corner of itunes.
The menu immediately disappeared when I selected computer speakers.
When I set up the new modem, the drop down did not reappear.
Tried a bunch of things. Read a bunch of older forums. Nothing.
It's been months. I need my music and I'm back at it again!
    Today (in this order) I:
Reset my macbookpro (option apple p r)
reset airport express (held in reset while plugged in, waited for flashes)
set up airport express from scratch. Named it. All seems well.
    light is green
Made sure find remote speakers from itunes pref was checked. (unchecked and checked it again)
Made sure itunes music sharing was checked from my firewall settings. (unchecked and checked it again)
    Restarted itunes (a few times)
    Nothing. Nothing . Nothing.
Airfoil says that if itunes can't find remote speakers, then neither will airfoil.
So I won't try downloading that as a fix...
    PLEASE!? ANYONE!?
    Yes my wires are checked.

I have pretty much the same problem.
I just set up a new Belkin Wireless N router, to replace my G and hopefully speed up my network, but now I've lost my Airport Express.  It's still hooked up to my stereo, but the light is amber now and won't turn green.
Also, my iTunes can't find my remote speakers, and I can't even get the menu which used to have Computer and Living Room on it.
How can I get my iTunes to find that little Airport Express dude?

I am running CC 2014.2.1 and I've updated to Yosemite. Not seeing tree or frame as an option in the menu. Coworker still on Mavericks has it.

  • Option to disable iTunes volume control for remote speakers?

I have noticed that with iTunes 10, the option to disable the volume control for remote speakers seems to have disappeared from Preferences>Devices. If you click the "?" button, the help window gives an explanation of what its for but the option to check/uncheck it clearly isn't there. Since iTunes 10, streaming my music from my iMac to my Denon receiver via Airtunes/Airplay with an Airport Express has been disappointing. The volume is far too low. With version 9 and every version prior, the volume control option was always there in preferences and I always had it disabled; music came through loud and clear but since this option appears to no longer exist, the volume through the Denon receiver fails to impress, even with the iTunes volume slider at max.
Anyone else noticed steaming volume too low? If so, agree that it's a bug?
Message was edited by: Brian I.

I wholeheartedly agree with "I also used to disable the volume control to reduce the amount that my computer interferes with the sound before it gets to the external DAC." There is no reason why Apple shouldn't restore this important setting option as the volume control does negatively affect sound quality in a high-end set-up and we'd rather not just take their word for it that the volume control's maximum setting is the same as disabling it. Why does the volume slider change the output level even when using the Airport Express' digital output? It shouldn't, and it seems the sound is now being force sent through a stupid digital volume control for no good reason. If for no other reason the "disable" option should be restored to avoid inadvertent volume changes via the Remote app for iPod Touch and iPhone. Strangely as compared to several other posts here, my perceived volume level now seems louder than before, not softer as others are reporting. People that are serious about sound quality do not want iTunes or AirPlay (formerly AirTunes) to manipulate the volume level or any other aspect of the sound at all ever, as it can't help but only hurt. I also thought the "disable" setting was available in the Airport Utility previously, but it's vanished from there too.

  • Pop-Up Menu for whole column

    Hello iWork Eperts,
I understand that there is an easy way to select certain cells and Format them for POP-UP menu. But when a new row is added then I have to do the formatting again for the cell. Is there any way to do this POP-UP menu formatting for whole column so that when a new row is added then the cell in that column is automatically formatted for POP-UP formatting.
    Regards
    Kartik Mittal

    Hi Kartik,
    Here's a step by step:
Start by formatting a single cell (B2 in this case) as a popup menu cell Edit the items to your preferences (I've left them at the default 1, 2 and 3).
    Copy that cell.
Click on the Column Reference tab ( B ) to select the whole column.
Command-click on B1 to remove it from the selection.
Paste (to fill the popup, and its current selection, into all cells in the existing column).
    Result:
You've now set up the necessary condition for the format (and currently selected value) to replicate as you drag te Row control tab downward to add more rows to the table.
If ALL cells above the one where rows are to be added contain the same popup menu (or the same formula), then that menu/formula wil be filled in to new rows as they are added.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • POP UP menu for 2 languages

    Dear friends...
I need your help with a little problem/doubt with Encore CS5
    I´m explain:
In this moment I do a great authoring with Encore for 2 languages /Spanish and French/ I done the authoring except the pop up menus. This authoring have 2 -main menu- with 2 different desings, one for each language. I done 2 pop up menus for this authoring, each pop up menu in line whith the -main menu- of your correspondant language, but the program don´t supports 2 pop up menus, then, I done a only pop up menu with 2 pages, one page for each different desing (French/Spanish). Ok, at now all correct... The problem:
When the french people chose your language will appear the french main menu, and I need that the page of pop up menu that will appear when the people push the button on the remote controler is the pag.2 because this page have the desing of pop up menu with the words in french. And in the other hand, when the people in spanish are watching the video in your language, when push the button on the remote controler should appear the page1. that is your pop up menu with the words in spanish language....
How I can do this in Encore CS5?, exist this posibility?
Thank you very much for your help.

Perhaps have a look at this THREAD. With only two Pop-up Menus, you might be able to use the workflow listed down-thread.
    Good luck,

  • Using a conditional pop-up menu for creating an order form...

I am trying to create an order form on Numbers (version 2.0.1) using my iPad. My idea is to create a pop-up menu that would contain a number of products (about 50 or so). I'd copy this pop-up menu on all the cells in the column under "Description". That part is no problem. BUT ... ideally when a product is selected from the pop-up menu, I would like for its price to automatically populate the corresponding cell under "Unit Price". Obviously the various products will have various prices. For example, I might have three products listed as "Assorted Miniatures" which cost $5 each; "Animal Pot" which costs $10; and "Geometric Pot" which costs $15. Can this be done???
If and when that is accomplished, then I presume I can easily apply the basic formulas to get total amounts. All of this means that once completed the only thing I really need to do is select products and then all the pricing and total amounts are automatically listed and calculated. Can someone assist? I have a show coming up this weekend and I hope to fill out lots of order forms!!! :-)  Thank you!!!

    MicMac22,
Here is my take. Lookup table as Wayne suggests.
Popup menu is a great idea.
    description
    quant
    unit price
    total Amt
    Item 2
    $2.00
    Item 1
    $1.00
My entry table would look like yours.
    item
    price
    item 1
    $1.00
    item 2
    $2.00
    item 3
    $3.00
Table 2 is your lookup table.
The formula in your entry table unit price is pasted into row 2 and copied down.
    IFERROR(OFFSET(Table 2::$A$1,MATCH(A2,item,0)−1,1,,),"")
This says find the match of entry in A2 in item column in table 2 return the value in the column 1 over. If error return nothing ("").
    Will this work for you?

  • Pointless change to Safari 6.1 pop-up menu for links

Can somebody please put the adults back in charge of OS development at Apple? This morning I was prompted to install the latest OS update, which includes a new version of Safari (6.1). Almost immediately I noticed this change to the order of items in the pop-up menu when you right-click a link: the position of the first two items is switched. That may seem like a trivial change, but if you're accustomed to opening different types of links in new tabs or new windows, then you've established a bit of muscle memory in your mouse hand, which is now thrown off by the change: you'll instinctively choose the wrong item. One of the basic principles of software usability is that you leverage the learned behaviors of your users, you don't turn them into obstacles.

It seems somebody at Apple strongly believes the UI must be tabbed for all things you do. I feel we're told "don't use windows if you can use tabs". Well, I won't be using tabs (neither in Safari, nor Finder, nor nothing), because they waste a precious line of display space.
Too much silly things done in OSX since Lion. As the OP said, please put adults back in charge of OS development. Thanks.
Big thanks also to MacOsX for sharing his (working) solution for this Safari bug (yes, it's a bug)

  • Update Pop-up menu for multiple cells?

Is there a way to update all of the pop-up menu cells simultaneously without changing what any given cell has already selected?
I have a long list of items that includes a popup menu in one of the rows. The menu is the same for all of the items.
    Here is the problem:
Periodically I have to update the pop-up menu. Every time I do this I have to manually update the pop-up menu cell for every item. As the list gets longer this takes more and more time.
Since each item has a different selection in this popup menu I can't simply drag the updated cell or copy and paste since this will then change the selection already made and then I have to manually change anyway i.e. instead of less work, it ends up being more.

I have wondered about this for a while. I was trying something tonight and it seemed to do what you need. I suggest you save your document before trying it.
    Select one of your popups.
    Copy Style
    Select all the popups
    Paste Style
With all selected, go to the Inspector and add another item to the list.
All popups should now have the new item. The selected values should not have changed. Copy/paste style is required to make this work.
Please let me know if this works for you. I've tried it a few times and it seems to do the trick.

  • Where is grapher pop-up menu (piecewise functions)?

    Hi,
I am struggling to learn Grapher, and the only documentation I found is the help file.
I want to enter a piecewise defined function. The help file says:
1- Choose Equation > New Equation.
2- Choose Condition from the pop-up menu next to the Equation field.
3- Enter the number of conditions in the equation.
4- Enter the conditions and expressions in the template.
I am stuck a step 2: where is the said pop-up menu? I tried the equation column on the left. The contextual pop-up menu there (right-click) only has "Reevaluate expression". I tried the equation editing area at the top. The contextual pop-up menu there (right-click) only has "Copy as" and "Copy LaTeX expression". At the far right of that area there is also a menu (as identified by a downward-pointing triangle), which only contains maths templates. At the very bottom left, an action menu contains new {equation, point set, group}.
In short, I cannot find the pop menu supposed to contain the condition item.
    What did I miss?
    Many thanks,
    Jean-Denis

I finally found it myself: the condition is one of the math template in the math template pop-up menu at the far right of the equation-editing area. This is not obvious because it is not labelled as such until you hover the mouse pointer over it. It looks like a brace with two lines.
OK thanks everybody. Back to Grapher.

  • Why do i keep getting a pop up menu for automatic downloads? I turned it off in the preferences, but it keeps popping up, asking me for my password.

Why do I keep getting a pop up menu asking me for my password in itunes to enable automatic downloads? I turned it off in the itunes preferences several times.  iTunes still gives me a pop up message asking for my password.  Please help.

Automatic downloads is for when you download something on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad and automatic downloads will download these on your Mac or pc, eliminating the need for syncing. But I have limited bandwidth at home so I do not want this feature. Mine actually stopped bugging me for now, I cruised around the whole community looking for an answer and different things seems to be working for different people. It just seems to be a bug that will hopefully be fixed in an update. For me, I put in my password, even though I didn't want it, made sure it's not set to allow automatic downloads and tested it and it worked. It hasnt bugged me since, but it may come back over time.

  • How to create a Pop-up menu for an Applet

I need to create a Pop-up menu that works like this:
When the user move his mouse over the applet, the menu will pop up, extending beyond the bounds of the applet.
In other words: The applet will display only the menu headings - a mouse-over should cascade a menu beneath the heading - once again: beyond the bounds of the applet.
(Hopefully, the end result will look and work pretty much like a DHTML menu that uses <div>'s.)
I thought of popping up a JFrame to act as the menu - however, the JFrame has its own title bar.
    Any ideas!?

OK - I tried using a JMenuBar - and it does cascade out of the Applet box. The question is:
How do I close the menu without clicking on the Applet box? - i.e. if the user clicks on the web-page, or simply waits a second or 2, the menu should collapse?
    Any ideas?
