If you didn't make a backup of it then your music is on the hard drive of your original computer. If you still have access to the computer you downloaded the songs to you need to transfer them to the Mac:
iTunes for Mac: How to copy purchases between authorized computers
iTunes for Windows: How to copy purchases between authorized computers
If you have an iPod and the songs are on it, the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from and you have no iPod with the songs on it then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on any of the links on this page you'll find a space at the bottom to email your query: iTMS Customer Service

  • Where is my purchased music in iTunes?...they are listed but not showing in the list

I went into iTunes to check out the new "Purchased" area and found a really helpful list of artists on the left hand side.  Each one has a number next to it which I believe is the number of songs for each artist.  When I click on many of the artists I get a list of songs and it indicates whether they are already downloaded to that computer or not.  I can then click on the ones I want on that machine and they will download from the Cloud.
Sounds great but where the heck are all the other tunes that are shown on the list on the left but they don't show up on the right when I click that artist?  There was one band in particular that I wanted to download because I think the only place I have it still downloaded is on an old machine that is no longer online (its packaged up in my basement).  That's one of the ones that has nothing in the right hand list... no songs listed - even though the list of artists shows it has having 24 songs.
Can anyone tell me what is stopping those ones from showing up?  Are they too old for the system?  If I bought them on iTunes previously they should still exist...am I missing anything?
    Thanks,
    Sam

Only songs (or Apps, books, etc) that are still currently available in the iTunes store for sale can be re-downloaded.

  • I purchased music on iTunes and it won't appear on the purchased playlist or anywhere else. Where can I find it?

Where's my purchased music from iTunes?

Did you buy it on that computer's iTunes ? If you did then it should have downloaded into the My Music part of your iTunes library. If you bought it on a different computer/device, or if you bough it on that computer but since deleted it from it, then you might be able to redownload it (if it's still in the store and you haven't moved countries since buying it) via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage

Try assigning Queen as the Album Artist on the compilations in iTunes on your computer.

  • I have logged in to my itunes account on a different computer and none of my purchased music is showing up. I also have plugged my iphone in to get updates but it says I will lose all media and apps if I don't update on the computer where  I sync everythi

I have logged in to my itunes account on a different computer and none of my purchased music is showing up. I also have plugged my iphone in to get updates but it says I will lose all media and apps if I don't update on the computer where  I sync everything. I have authorized this new computer so I don't know what the problem is. I can't get on my old computer with my itunes account because the computer is broken. Not sure what to do

"I have logged in to my itunes account on a different computer and none of my purchased music is showing up."
Correct.  it does not magially appear in other places.  It will only be where you put it.
"I also have plugged my iphone in to get updates but it says I will lose all media and apps if I don't update on the computer where  I sync everything. "
Correct as well.  Iphone will sync with one computer at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content.
You need to copy everything ( itunes library/contacts/pics/calendars/files/docs) from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old one, to the new one.

  • Where can I get a copy of iTunes 5 and how do I keep my purchased music?

    Hi all:
I am using iTunes 5 (5.0.0.35) and want to reinstall it as I get the following error message from the iTunes Setup Assistant when iTunes starts up:
"Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
I would just install the new version 6 but it seems that it's not working for alot of people with windows XP so I think I should stay with v. 5 for now. Does anyone know where I can find a copy of the installation file for v. 5?
Also, when I reinstall, do I uninstall my current version first and how do I ensure that my downloaded purchased music will still be useable after reinstallation? I can't burn them as 'music CDs' because of the error message iTunes gives me and my CD burning software doesn't recognize m4p files as music files (I could burn them as data files though-but since they are protected, I don't know if this would work).
    Any insight would be appreciated!
    Thanks

    hi rjpod!
two-and-a-half answers here. you might want to get independent confirmation of my answer to (3).
    (1) if you mean what i think you mean by CD-text, i'm afraid you're out of luck with itunes. see:
    http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=607302
    (2) to use protected AACs (music store purchases) in other applications, first you need to burn them to an audio CD and then reimport them from the CD in a compatible file format.
    (3) i'm pretty sure that itunes only burns closed sessions on CD-RWs. so to use the CD-RW again for burning with itunes, you'd need to erase it first (with some other utility).
(would someone else mind confirming or denying or expanding on my answer to 3? i've lost track of the threads where i've seen this discussed, and i'm working from possibly-fallible memory.)
    hope this helps.
    love, b

  • Where do i find my purchased music from itunes?

Where do i find my purchased music from itunes in my library?

If you allow iTunes to organize your music, each one should be filed in the appropriate artist folder within your music folder. Why do you ask?
If you deleted the Purchased playlist in iTunes and want to get it back, try this:
You can recreate the playlist by creating a Smart playlist.
In iTunes choose File > New Smart Playlist
Choose Match Any  (You must add more than one rule to get the choice of "any" or "all")
    Kind Contains Protected
    +
    Kind Contains Purchased
    Check Live updating

  • Where did my wi-fi purchased music go?

While I originally had my ipod touch set up with the sync feature when I noticed that I could use the more traditional "manually manage the music and video" feature I switched to it. After I purchased a couple of songs over the wi-fi music store I went to add the songs back to my computer and couldn't find them on the ipod (I was assuming I'd just drag them back to the computer library)
I thought that was generaly odd so I just assumed that I'd check the sync button and sync again that they'd show up but they still didn't. They still show up on the ipod but I can't get them back to itunes.
Does the sync feature always have to be enabled in order to get wi-fi purchased music back on the computer? Is there any way to get that wi-fi purchased music back on the computer?

you do not need to have the sync automatic for the wifi bought music to get back onto your itunes library. THe wifi bought music should automatically sync back to your computer. and the music will appear under the itunes store icon in the itunes library with a green playlist titled. "purchased on (name of your ipod)" You can also check for purchased by going to the store menu in itunes and clicking on check for purchases.

  • Where can I find my old purchased music that disappeared?

When trying to upload music from my flashdrive from an old computer to my new computer, i followed the steps online to upload music from the external drive. I had purchased music on my new computer from iTunes, and its gone now. What can I do to get it back? I have already tried following the steps online.

What steps did you use... The new iTunes does have a section that allows you to re-download past purchases. I actually used it the other day - yesterday in fact. It did work....

  • Where is purchased music kept?

Hey everyone. So my computer just died sunday night, logicboard problem. Anyway, I had just recently bought some music from the iTunes music store, but hadn't had a chance to put it on my iPod... is there any way to retrieve it from the iTunes music store without purchasing it again?? Thanks!!

When purchasing music, you are advised to create a backup.
All sales are final, so you're normally out of luck.
Several users have reported, they were granted a re-download after explaining what happened.
Use the form at the bottom of this page
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/lostmusic/
to explain what happened, and request a re-download of your purchases.
Be patient; it can take a couple of days.
If a re-download is granted, do backup this time.
    Hope this helps.
