Where is my search bar

My search bar has disappeared and I can't find it ... any suggestions? (my bookmarks show but no search bar)

Click "View"menu in the Safari menubar and select "Show Toolbar".

From the drop down drag the default set into the Toolbar.

Where's the search bar in itunes store

Trying to search for songs to download but can't find a search box! Can anyone help?

I just resolved this issue by doing the following (Please read the entire post before performing):
Quit iTunes
Open Finder and click Go > Go to Folder... (or press Shift-Command-G)
Type the following (or copy and paste) and press return:
~/Music/iTunes
Move the file "iTunes Library.itl" to Trash. DO NOT empty Trash yet (because if this does not resolve the issue, you will want to put this back)
Relaunch iTunes and see if you now have the top bar in iTunes, including the search bar in the top-left.
NOTE: Removing the iTunes Library.itl file can cause you to lose Playlists, and even cause your music on disk to be unrecognized. It is highly recommended that you back up with Time Machine before performing this task.
If you know where your music is on disk (most likely still somewhere withing that iTunes folder, possibly just in iTunes Music instead of iTunes Media) you can still drag this music back into iTunes for it to reorganize and recognize the music. There is not much you can do about Playlists other than manually recreating them or quitting iTunes and putting back the iTunes Library.itl file.

Since 20mins ago my search bar has disappeared in Safari!
I now only have an address bar?
I have tried to customise and also ~/library/preferences/ as described in one of the other posts but to no avail.
How frustrating!

This is not the Safari forum. What version of Safari are you using? If 6.0 then the Google search at the right is gone. Replaced by a single search / url address search. If 5.17, View>Customize Toolbar.

Where has my search bar gone in ff34?

I would like to be able to update FF only when I want to, but it forces me to update by stopping working a day or two after the new version appears! Anyway, since updating to 34, my search bar, which I use all the time for different search engines, has vanished, so I've had to revert to version 33. I imagine, at some point it will decide to stop working, and I'll have to upgrade, but I'd like my search bar back before I do, if that's possible?

Thank you very much. It appears that if I disable one extension (Organize Search Engines), then the search bar comes back, but another extension that is not disabled (Add to Search Bar) has stopped working. I have emailed the developer of these extensions, so hopefully there will be a resolution.

I KNEW it would happen, I even predicted it - this morning Firefox just decided not to bother opening at all, because I had the TEMERITY to be using an old version. I mean, who do I think I am? How DARE I have a reason for not wanting to upgrade! It won't even run in safe mode!
SO, I had to download the latest version of Firefox FROM SAFARI!!!
And now I have the same problem with the search bar as I had before. Firefox therefore, has wasted an hour of my time for nothing. Again! Thanks a bunch, Firefox!

ITunes 7 : where is the search bar ?

I can't find the command to display the search bar in iTunes 7 (you know, the bar that allowed the user to choose on which field the search criterias was applied : song name, artist, ...).
Am I missing something or has the feature been dropped from the new iTunes ?

I agree, the search criteria bar was a great feature that really made it an Apple program, it is a feature from the OS, that they migrated into iTunes. It really seems like Apple dropped the ball on this version, maybe they lost the source for iTunes 6 and they were working from a previous version, BSing it as they go? Maybe they outsourced this version?
It really reflects poorly on them, in my opinion.
I get the same impression on having started this version from the wrong version of the source code, bizarre as that seems. Lots of tweaks seem actual steps backwards for no real reason. And some of the bugs we're seeing are just simply daft - and feel like they were fixed ages ago. Some of the stuff I've seen just shouldn't have been broken by the changes they did make.
(Like how can you suddenly not notice you've completeed the last track in a playlist, so you'll just sit there not completing... and not marking playcount/last played.). I wonder if for some key components of iTunes they picked the wrong version off the shelf?

Where is the search bar in the upper right ? It certainly doesn't appear on my 5.0 browser. Let me know when it appears and google is available again. I'm back to IE.

Where did the search bar go when I sync movies to my iphone?

Is this off by default or is it gone completely? I have 200 movies and I used to be able to type the movie name in when I sync my iPhone to check it, but the search box is gone....is it supposed to be or is there a way to get it back?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs. 
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

On iMac OSX 10.6.8, my URL & Search bar got lost. Where are they?

Firefox won't allow typing into Google search bar whereas Chrome will

Hi,
I'm currently running Firefox 6.0.2 on Windows XP SP3 with Outlook 2003 SP3. No changes made recently to anything.
Suddenly several errors happening at once, most involving Firefox.
1) Homepage Google. I cannot type anything in Google search bar.
If I replace it with e.g. Yahoo I can type anything, but replace it with Google and it is blocked again. I have re-booted, removed and replaced homepage etc no help.
2) If I type www.hotmail.co.uk in Firefox address bar at top of screen it refuses to find the site. Nothing happens at all. Any other address I have typed in it had found ok, but this one remains blocked.
3) It is difficult to see an immediate relationship to Firefox with this one, but it started at exactly the same time and also involves Google, so it is a bit of a coincidence otherwise. I keep getting Google delay messages on many of my emails. In fact they never get through, and I don't even have a Google email account!
I use SKY email, Outlo0k as above and both are working normally apart from the bizarre Google messages as below:

I have removed the actual email addresses but they were perfectly accurate. Resending the emails by cutting and pasting worked in all cases so it is hard to see why the originals failed.

In the address bar type "about:config" without the quotation marks.
Then in the Filter field type keyword.
Then double click keyword.URL
and type or copy and paste the following: "http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=" without the quotations.
And there you have it. Your browser will use google to search.

Isn't there a search bar in safari?

I have this same question, but when I go to menu/view/customize toolbar, there is an "address and search" in the list but there is no icon above it and when I try to drag to toolbar, nothing happens?

Where has the TextEdit search bar gone?

I have just loaded Yosemite. When I open a TextEdit document the search bar no longer appears in the top right hand corner of the window. Is there a setting to get it back?

Regarding the search bar - that explains a lot. I think everyone responding so far thought that the search bar was shrinking.
Regarding shrinking text, there is an easy explanation :
when you press Command plus - (minus) key you step down the font size in your selected text in TextEdit.
Do that again and you will go from Typeface Menlo size 17 down to 16, do it again and it goes down to 15 and so on.
Press Command plus + and you step up the selected text by a point size....and the process reverses itself.
So since you now know that "Command + minus" steps typeface size down and "Command + plus" steps typeface size up you can stop doing that and you won't have shrinking text

Why are my tabs so huge and where did the google search bar go?

I know this isn't a big deal but I'm just not used to any of this. I like my search bar in the top left corner and I like my tabs all equally sized. Can someone please tell me what is going on? Can I fix this?

welcome to Safari version 6.
Type google searches in the same place you type URLs and it will figure them out.
The tab size is well, awful, but that's the size they are for now.
