  • I just changed the OS from Vista to Windows7.  I have a folder on the same computer with the old iTunes library.  I installed a new version of iTunes from scratch.  How do I move my music library, etc from that backed up folder into the new iTunes folder.

I need help with moving my music library.
I recently upgraded the OS on my computer from Vista to Windows7.
During the process it copied my iTunes library to a folder on this same computer (marked it Windows.old)
Once the OS was done, I installed a new copy of iTunes on the Windows7 but it now has a blank library (folder)
How do I move my music from its current folder location (on this same computer) into the new iTunes library folder ???
There don't seem to be specific instructions on how to do this.

My situation may be different from yours since all mu music is ripped from cd's not bought from iTunes, but I would think the premise is the same.
Doesn't matter what is in your library.
When I moved computers I literally dragged and dropped the music where I wanted it to be. THen when I opened iTunes I imported the files back into iTUnes
This creates a new library with all the same items but you lose a lot of info: Ratings, comments, date added, custom EQ, playlists, etc.
If you simply copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder, it is the exact same library, not a new library. No info is lost.

  • How do i drag my music from a Folder to the new itunes without getting the no sign?

Ok i downloaded the new itunes, So i could sync my ipod touch; Now I synced my ipod, I wanna drag new music over from my folders to my library like i used to, but now i get a no signal (A circle with a line through it) How do i drag my music over without getting the no sign?

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer. iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. • Where does one sync iPhone with the new iTunes? The button to get to iPhone disappears after a few seconds.

I downloaded the new iTunes tonight (11/30/12) and it is significantly different but there is a problem with the icon for finding the iPhone in order to sync. They have either made this significantly harder or there is a bug. The video tutorial was no help on this point. Thanks.

try holding ctrl + S. that should pop the side bar up, so you can see your devices.

  • HT2688 I just want to know where to find the shared libraries on the new iTunes. These articles are a million years old, and are of no help.

I just want to know where to find my shared libraries on the stupid new iTunes. The layout was fine before, but when they changed it, I can't seem to find them. The articles on Apple are a million years old, before the latest iTunes update, so they are no help. Thanks.

It's only 7 months old and it is still correct.
    ctrl B = Show sidebar.
    ctrl S = Show menu.

  • I can't find where to authorise my computer on the new iTunes. Can anyone help?

I can't find where to authorise my computer so that I can access music purchased on my ipad on my laptop. All the advice refers to the old version of iTunes where there is a 'Store' menu. I can't find anything like this on the new version. Help!

If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

  • Ringtones, how to buy them in the new itunes

where do you buy ringtones on the new itunes?

The iTunes 12 Get Info dialog lacks right-click context menus but accepts most standard keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop actions.
    Delete Artwork
On the artwork tab of Get Into, tap the image in question, use Backspace or Ctrl+X. Delete doesn't work.
Or, tap the image at the top left of Get Info, this time use Backspace or Delete, it is Ctrl+X that doesn't work.
    Add Artwork
Select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the center of the Artwork tab, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the small image area at the top left, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, you can drag & drop to, or sometimes from, the same locations.
You can also copy artwork from the Get Info dialog to Windows Explorer with the keyboard shortcuts.
If the source image is on a web page right-click and use Copy Image rather than copy.
If you have multiple images embedded drag the one you want to be the primary artwork to the leftmost position.
The top left image box can be used to add or delete art from multiple tracks. In either case all existing art is removed/replaced.
    Old Style Get Info Dialog
Select some items, right-click, hold down shift, then click Get Info from the context menu. (Use alt/option on a Mac)

  • Where is the iPad App file sharing in the new itunes?

I exported a file from ArtRage App. One is supposed to go to iPad Tab, then Apps Section, and scroll to the bottom and find the file. But I just updated to the new iTunes and I don't see a way get the file anywhere within it. What should I do to get the file in the New itunes? the only help information I can find is from the last version. ...I should not have updated...
    Thank you.

With iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC. Then select the iPad on that left-hand sidebar, and on the right-hand side of iTunes select the Apps tab and scroll down it, and you should see the file sharing section - select that app on the left-hand side of that section

  • Why is it a shared folder in the music app and why do i need internet to listen to it?

why is it a shared folder in the music app and why do i need internet to listen to it?

    Try in order:
    - Resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod since you may have corruption that is now in your backup
Based on the info you provided it appears you did the restore from backup and sitll have problems.  Thus, I would just restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • I am on a shared computer with several profiles.  I had to delete my profile and create a new one.  Now, my question.  It transferred to Purchased Items to the new iTunes, so how do I get the rest of the songs to transfer to new iTunes?

It sounds like you might have broken links to your content. Either repair these by putting the files you've recovered where iTunes expects to find them or delete the broken entries then go to iTunes Store > Purchased > Music > Not on This Computer, and click the download links.

doesn't work, how do I go about doing this?
If it's a shared folder that you can see, but the music is in fact on somebody else's computer, you CANNOT move it or do ANYTHING with it, other than listen to it.
If that's now what you're talking about, please explain what you mean by a shared folder.
