Where is OAS 4.0.8

All the examples of the jdev 3.0 docs are developed for oas
4.0.8 where i can download this version, all that i can find is
oas 4.0.7 ....

Officially (as of version 4.0.8.1) no, but unofficially yes. There is a beta JSP patch for OAS 4.0.8.1 that you can download at www.olab.com, which creates a JSPServlet application and uses that servlet to handle JSP requests. As far as I know it is very robust and of production quality, although it has not been officially rolled out yet. You need to get UID/PWD for the download area from the JSP Team.

  • Anyone created a new skin/style?

    Hello,
    has anybody tried to create its own skin or style and apply it on a Dashboard?
    I've followed instructions on presentation server documentation: copy s_oracle10 and sk_oracle10 folders from source folder (C:\ORACLE\BI\web\app\res) to "data" folder (C:\ORACLE\BIData\web\res) and renamed to s_company and sk_company as stated.
    As a test, I've just done that, copy the original folders and rename them, so look must be the same ... instead of that, all images, etc. are gone, and only links are shown on blue over a white background.
    Anyone has any experience about this issue?
    Thanks on forward,
    Joan.

    I had similar problem; you have to install your s_company also in the server where the OAS runs. Aftwerds restart the application on oas and presentation services.

  • Using Oracle Service Registry without SOA Suite

    I am trying to use the Oracle Service Registry without having SOA Suite as all I want is to simply publish a web service for an experiment.
    I have :
    JDeveloper 10.1.3.3
    Oracle Database 10g
    Getting problem in Installing Service Registry. Do I need to run a script to make UDDI schema, or table space, or database in advance?
    Installation is not getting the directory for OAS Home. Now where is the OAS HOMe?
    .../JDeveloper/jdev/ ?
    .../Oracle10g/
    .../jdeveloper\jdev\system\oracle.j2ee.10.1.3.41.57\embedded-oc4j ?
    Its not accepting any of them. Where does OAS resides?

    If all you have is Jdeveloper and database you do not have an OAS Oracle home, you will need to install OAS separately. It is also possible that you can just install standalone oc4j rather than a full blown OAS to install SR into, check the install guide
    If I remember correctly the database schema is created as part of the SR install.

    Hello,
    We are facing some serious problems in our webdeployed application.
    The application is deployed using OAS 10g on Unix. When we run truss (a Unix tool that is capable of monitoring all interaction on the Unix machine where the OAS is running on) we see a lot of interaction that we can not explain that is consumimg a lot of CPU
    The application keeps on opening msb files. What is the application trying to do?
    Does anybody have a clue?
    Part of the truss output:

    Hello.
    The problem is not always there. It looks like it suddenly appears.
    We made a truss of a spinning proces that took 60% of the cpu of the OAS machine.
    We made a (truss) trace for 60 seconds and we see 4810 files are opened and 4766 is a combination of oranl.msb/oraus.msb file. (99%)
    The user works normal. She does not face any problems (besides poor performance)
    We have the idea that during the day the files oranl.msb/oraus.msb that were opened is growing. Another point that we see
    is:
    "("/etc/passwd", O_RDONLY) = 148" is opened. This is the password file from unix
    We logged a TAR at Oracle.
    This is the answer:
    +...+
    am very sorry but this kind of information is oracle internal ONLY.
    I may not deliver you any information about your internal processes.
    +...+
    Does anybody have a clue?
    Regards Erik

  • How to check the Oracle Release?

    Hi,
    How to check the release version in Oracle AS ?
    And
    How to find what oracle AS release has happened in year (example 2005)?
    Best Regards

    There are a couple of ways I use to find the version:
    1. Open the Oracle Universal Installer on the machine where the OAS is installed, click on Installed Products. That should display the product and the version number.
    2. Set the oracle environment variables, then run the command below
    +$ORACLE_HOME/jdk/jre/bin/java -jar $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home/oc4j.jar -version+
    This should display the version of the OC4J which generally is the version of the OAS (unless you have applied any one-off patches)
    Have no idea about the second part of your question. Sorry.

  • How to web enable NT forms for Unix Environment

    We would like to convert our NT forms
    to Unix forms and make them web enabled.
    We are looking for any UNIX setup information we can find so that we can get started.
    We have already installed DEV6i Forms and Reports and it appears the server software went down as well.
    WoW the questions.
    Where does OAS 4.0.8 fit into the equation?
    Do we need to use a JRE on the PC's? Is Jinitiator at the PC's O.K.?
    How do you use the unix product Project Builder? -- what launces it? Is it motiff?
    Is their any simple documentation for how to web enable forms.
    It should be so complex --
    Does anyone have a check list of what software should be installed.
    Any directions for how how to configure the environment?
    we believe we need some sort of checklist for what to do... Can anyone give any help.

    You should install Oracle9iAS v1.0.2 on your unix machine. This will have The Forms services configured for you and save you all the manual settings.
    Check out the internet deployment section on

  • Problem: empty JNDI Context, weird name space

    Hello,
    I am unable to deploy our EAR file and one of the suspicious things is that if I print out the 'InitialContext' (the JNDI Context), I get nothing!.
    Here is the code:
    InitialContext jndiContext = new InitialContext();
    System.out.println("CONTEXT: " + jndiContext);
    System.out.println("ENV: " + jndiContext.getEnvironment());
    System.out.println("NAME: " + jndiContext.getNameInNamespace());
    And this is the output I get:
    05/01/18 15:45:50 CONTEXT: javax.naming.InitialContext@18c4a7f
    05/01/18 15:45:50 CONTEXT ENV: {} <=== empty!?
    05/01/18 15:45:50 CONTEXT NAME: wgen <=== where is this 'wgen' coming from!?
    I see 2 issues here:
    1. Why is the Context environment empty? It shouldn't be empty!
    2. Where does the Context name of 'wgen' come from? I do not have 'wgen' mentioned anywhere in ejb-jar.xml
    So then I tried fixing issue 1 by creating the Context environment programmatically:
    java.util.Hashtable env = new java.util.Hashtable();
    env.put(javax.naming.Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.evermind.server.ApplicationInitialContextFactory");
    env.put(javax.naming.Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "jazn.com/admin");
    env.put(javax.naming.Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "admin2");
    env.put(javax.naming.Context.PROVIDER_URL, "opmn:ormi://localhost:3201:OAS1.bray/wgen")
    InitialContext jndiContext = new InitialContext(env);
    This still produced an empty environment.
    Has anyone got aaaany ideas about this?
    Where is OAs/OC4J getting that 'wgen' context from? How do you populate the JNDI environment? It's as if the JNDI is completely brain-dead.... and it's possible that it's just misconfigured. All I have in my j2ee/config/ dir is a jndi.properties file that looks like this:
    java.naming.factory.initial=com.evermind.server.ApplicationInitialContextFactory
    java.naming.provider.url=opmn:ormi://localhost:6003:OAS1.bray/wgen
    java.naming.security.principal=admin
    java.naming.security.credentials=admin2
    Thanks,
    Otis

    I would say there is nothing wrong with JNDI in your oc4j. The very fact that the CONTEXT NAME is wgen, which is obtained from the
    java.naming.provider.url=opmn:ormi://localhost:6003:OAS1.bray/wgen
    shows jndi is functioning.
    To see more of you jndiContext, run
    listContext (jndiContext,"")
    after you have added the following method that iterates through the subContexts. Please note that getEnviroment returns the enviroment for the context, not the context itself. It might be empty indeed.
    private static void listContext (Context ctx, String indent) {
    try {
    NamingEnumeration list = ctx.listBindings("");
    while (list.hasMore()) {
    Binding item = (Binding)list.next();
    String className = item.getClassName();
    String name = item.getName();
    System.out.println(indent+className+" "+name);
    Object o = item.getObject();
    if (o instanceof javax.naming.Context)
    listContext ((Context)o,indent+" ");
    catch (NamingException ex) {
    ex.printStackTrace();
    System.err.println ("List error: "+ex);

  • OAS - Where the heck do I start?

    Good Afternoon, Everyone:
    After aggressively consuming one of the new Flex 3 Books on the market, I now know that I will need to use the Oracle Application Server to provided a means to a web service to be exposed for Flex to interactive with the database data. Okay, so . . . I wanted to download a simple OAS but I see everything from SOA to BPEL (What the heck is that, anyway?). Where is the Oracle Application Server for 10g? help?!?

    Please use this link and download all CDs for your environment that are for 'Application Server

  • Where can I find and download OAS 10g R1?

    I'm looking for OAS 10g R1, but I can't seem to find it.

    Start at otn.oracle.com/products/ias - and go to the download links - it could be that version of the application server is now desupported (and so removed).

  • How can I display application offline page when OAS is offline?

    I am using IIS with oracle_proxy.dll redirecting to my oracle application server. When I do maintenance on the application and stop the OAS service the end-user gets the HTTP 500 - Internal server error from Internet Explorer. I would prefer for them to see a custom page that displays that the application is offline for maintenance. I tested with IIS custom error pages but that is not where the 500 page is coming from. The page being displayed is the IE friendly HTTP error message. I can't see how a configuration on the Oracle application server would help because the service is offline. Is there anything I can do to explain to the users that this is a scheduled maintenance and display a more informative page? I understand the solution may involve stopping, changing a configuration file in IIS and restarting. If so how can I script that so it can be easily done and what is the easiest way to do it?
    Thank you for your response in advance.
    Trying to make oracle more friendly, Jon.

    I just wanted to confirm, are you using Oracle HTTP Server?
