Where is "optimize" panel in Lightroom 4?

Uh, there is no "optimize" panel...what, exactly are you asking about?
ALL of the panels in LR 4 are designed to optimize an image...

My preview panel in lightroom book module has no "create save book button". Where is it? Is there a workaround to save my book?

The \ key will hide and show the header bar in the book module and the Create Saved Book button is at the right of that header bar.
The outlined area is what shows and hides when the \ key is pressed.  Maybe you have a keyboard that has a different key for \?  On my keyboard the \ key is just above the Enter key.
You can also use the View / Show Header Bar in the LR menus across the top:
If this doesn't work, then can you provide a screenshot of your LR book module?

  • Is there a flatten form option in reader x? In reader 9 there was a pdf optimizer panel...

In Reader 9 there was a pdf optimizer panel that you could check off to have the form fields flattened. Is there a way to do this in Reader X, not Pro but Reader X?

    Gilad,
I'm really confused now but I just entered data filler fields on my new PDF fillable form saved allowing a user to enter data from the reader and save/print it and there is gray shading displayed in the reader, where the fields are and sent it to the printer from reader 10.1.7 of Adobe Reader X. and the field shading is now printing out.
This is working fine as I would expect it too.
    Here is my steps
    1. Create a fillable form in Acrobat XI
    2. Save as others etc. to save it so saving/printing is allowed in Reader X
    3. Open Reader X, fill in some fields on each page and you see shading showing where the fields are (not background color set in the appearance tab in properties, but field shading)
    4. Choose Print and print it out and the gray shading is now showing but the data filled in is printed as expected.
    No coding has been done.
I don't mean to keep adding comments to this, but it does work without coding doing the steps listed above. (In the trial version, this did not happen).

  • File Info panels in Lightroom.

    Hello, everybody.
My workflow involves the use of Photoshop, Bridge and more recently I decided to make Lightroom part of it also. As described in Martin Evening's "The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book" I am trying to use Bridge as a front end for Lightroom and think that both applications really complement each other well.
    Now, to my questions:
    1. I am trying to find the File Info panels in Lightroom that can also be accessed in Photoshop and Bridge. I must have missed the obvious but I haven't been able to find it. Could you point me in the right direction ?
    2. Where is the keyword catalog for Lightroom located ? What is the proper syntax for this file ? Is there an application I can use that will allow me to create my own keyword catalog that can then be imported into Lightroom ? Last but not least, can Lightroom have more than one catalog installed ? What about Bridge ? Can it also have more than one keyword catalog installed ?
    Thanks,
    Joe

Those panels are specific to Bridge, Photoshop and other Adobe suite apps. Sadly, they don't exist in LR. Instead, use the Metadata panel.
LR's keywords are stored inside the LR catalogue - there is no "keyword catalog for Lightroom" concept. You can import a list of keywords using the Metadata > Import Keywords command. This list will be a txt file which you can prepare in any text editor or in Excel. To see the format, add a few keywords in Lightroom, and create a txt file using the Metadata > Export Keywords command. Then just edit this file, or copy its format - eg indenting child keywords.
Fr now, if you are asking questions like these, I would recommend sticking to one tool, a single Lightroom catalogue, for entering your metadata. Until you find your feet, using more than one tool will only make work for yourself and will result in inconsistencies. Also, treat yourself to a copy of Peter Krogh's DAM Book (his forum is good for metadata workflow issues).

  • Where can I get a Lightroom preset that turns a portrait into a sketch?

Where can I find a Lightroom that turns a portrait into a sketch?

If Photoshop or Photoshop Elements is installed, LR can pass an image to that directly; but any other application or standalone utility that you use to carry out a job like this, can be set up as a named "external editor" preset. This gives equally easy access from inside LR. You don't need to Export a copy, start a program, find and open the image; nor, then import the results back to LR - these steps are all automated for you.
You right-click on an image and select your editing preset in the context menu; LR saves a copy of your current image and opens it into the other program. You complete the task there, Save and close. LR now (all by itself) shows two versions of that image - the one you saw before, and a new one which shows the results of your external edit.
So even though LR is not in fact doing the task, but subcontracting it out - it is still just about as convenient for the user, as it would be if this were a true LR extension / plugin.
Some Photoshop plugins come in a standalone version as well, and in that case, the standalone app can be used as a targeted editor by LR, which may be faster and simpler. However if you do use such a plugin (or technique using standard tools) within PS, or other full-featured image editor, you have a full range of other editing possibilities there at the same time; for example, so you can mask and vary the strength of your "sketch" effect across different parts of the photo.

On the danger of stating the obvious: Right-click means clicking with the right (as opposed to left) button of your mouse.

  • How do I retrieve the tone panel in Lightroom 5 (with the sliders for exposure, contrast, vibrancy etc which sits under the crop, red eye etc icons)

How do I retrieve the tone panel in Lightroom 5 ( with the sliders for exposure, contrast, vibrancy etc which sits under the icons for cropping, red eye etc)?

On a PC, right-click (Mac Cmd-click) on one of the other panel headings such as Tone Curve, Detail, etc. In the context menu that displays, make sure there is a checkmark in Basic. Another quick way to do it is Ctrl->1  or Cmd->1.

  • Where did the Panel end marks go?

So I was doing a demo the other night and went off script to show how Panel End Marks section could be used to customize Lightroom. Like so.
Surprise! There is no Right clicking on a blank area of the panel allowed (or at least there is no result) in LRCC and right clicking on the Panel section returns the expected menu options.
Version 5 shows the Panel End Marks options.
Is this an oversight or was it specifically removed?

Right-clicking on the empty area at the end of the panel list works for me on Win 7 and Lr CC. But as mentioned the panel end marks can be enabled in preferences.

  • Where are my photos in Lightroom after I have edited and saved them in Photoshop?

I'm using LR and Photoshop CC. When I export a photo from LR to edit in Photoshop and then save it in PS and close the file why doesn't the saved file appear next to the original file? I know it's in Lightroom somewhere, but I always have to close LR and reopen it before the edited file will show up in Lightroom next to the original file with the same keyword. What determines where the file will be located within the list of files with a particular keyword. It seems to depend on which external editor I use. Sometimes the edited file is not shown with the original until I close and re-open Lightroom, sometimes it will be at the end of the list of files with that keyword and for some external editors it will immediately show up next to the original file.

Anyone looking? Or has everyone given up on solving this problem. Apparently, most don't have this problem but no one knows how to solve or why it happens. Others have had this or very similar problems and no one has found an answer. Adobe just ignores my queries about this as is normal for them.
When I select photos in LR and Export to Photomatix Pro to create an HDR photo the saved result appears immediately next to the original files in LR. When I select the photos in LR and go to Photo > Edit in >Merge to HDR PRO in Photoshop the resulting photo does not appear next to the original files even though LR says they are in the catalog. After I close and reopen LR they will be there next to the original files. Photoshop is the only editor where I have this problem. When I use any other editors such as those by OnOne, Topaz, Photomatix Pro, process a file and save the new files shows up immediately in LR right next to the original file. When I process a file in Photoshop and Save it I notice the filmstrip in LR jumps but the saved file from PS doesn't show itself until after I close and reopen LR.
    AAARGH!

  • Where are Optimizer settings stored?

I need to deploy PDF Optimizer settings throughout my organization, like I did with joboptions.
So far I have been unsuccessful in searching for a file with the name into which I saved my optimizer settings.
Where are the optimizer settings stored?  I would hate to have to set these all manually for everyone.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi All,
Thanks for the info.  I think this is what I need, but I opened the Javascript console and pasted in the code and nothing happened.
(Programming, javascript, etc are not my area of expertise. My core competency is writing/editing.)
What else do I need to do to make the Console recognize and respond that line of code?

  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Lightroom

I have a client using Lightroom to post photo galleries and he is concerned about Search Engine Optimization. I'm not a Lightroom user but need to know if there is a way to set page titles and photo alt tags from Lightroom rather than after the fact. I'm afraid if I hard code this into the website that it will be overwritten when I goes to resave the pages or upload new images.

    Hi,
that's really a great topic and guess its not a problem of
Flash being index to some search engines because google claims to
be able to read txt message into flash file but if you create a new
website you'll make acquaintance with the google 'sandbox' or
'trust box' effect. So, I guess the only way to get some higher
ranking is your website(domain) shoulda be at least older than 5
years and get enough quality backlinks....maybe more than 15.000
:-). Take some time and check out some flash websites on pull
position www.seitwert.de. Nearly some of them got really almost no
content but glare pretty nice at google.
Hopefully this topic goes further ...
Oh, by the way, I almost forgot to mention it...be added to
    dmoz.org can be also helpful.

  • Hello Experts., I would like to use only Lightroom but current set up by Adobe will force me to get Photoshop along with Lightroom. Is there any way where I can get only Lightroom and pay for the same.

In the present set up by Adobe if one need Lightroom alone, they have to get and pay for Photoshop also Which I am not interested. Is there any way I can get only Lightroom.? Please help.

Just for clarity, the strict answer to your question is "no": you can't get just Lightroom for the same price as the Lr/Photoshop Creative Cloud (CC) bundle.
You can buy a stand-alone licence for Lightroom alone - that's what Don and Elie have helped you to find - but the pricing (and licencing) arrangements are entirely different to those which make up the CC bundle.
Note too, it's likely that Lightroom 6 will be coming before long (although how long is not known): you will almost certainly have to pay for the upgrade to Lr 6 if you're on a stand-alone licence, whereas moving from 5 to 6 (and to 7 and to...) is included in the price of the bundle.
