Where is safari update ?, where is safari update ?

I have a Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3   The only SAFARI update product for sale at 19.99 says system requirements are for  Mac OS X Snow Leopard v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)  I have Lion not snow leopard.  Thanks for your help.

You already have "snow leopard or later" then if you have Lion (because Lion was after snow leopard) so you are all set for the version you want to buy if you think it is a later version than you already have of Safari. (Have you already updated your Safari recently? Are updates waiting for you? If you regularly have been updating your software there is nothing more for you to get.)
The operating system version they mentioned is the minimum you need, and you already have better than the minimum.
But if you just go to your Apple symbol (upper left hand side of the screen) and click Software Updates, you can see if any free updates are waiting for you. You should not need to ever buy a Safari update at a store. Just update your software for free from the Apple dropdown menu and Software Updates. (I am not sure that looking for the App Store icon will do you any good because that may not have arrived until Mountain Lion, but it is another way to check your updates besides the Apple drop down menu.)
As another user advised, if you only have 10.7.3 and not 10.7.5 apparently the newer Safari won't be accessible to you. What you need to do is update your MacOS first. See if you have an update waiting in the updates area. You said you have been using the updates, so you may need to locate a more recent Lion OS update download if you don't have phone support any more to help you. I'll look for a download of the update.

Drag the Safari icon straight up and off the Dock so it goes, "poof" ...
Now click and hold the Safari app in the Applications folder and drag that to the Dock.
See if you can open a webpage in Safari.

  • I have an imac OS 10.4.11 and am using Safari 2.0.4. I would like to update this. I have 1 Gb memory. Do I need more memory to update my computer? I would also like to add an airport system and something where I could read word applications.

I have an iMac OS 10.4.11 and am using Safari 2.0.4 I would like to update. I have only original 1 GB memory-do I need more to update?I would also like to add an airport or router and would like to add something where I could open word applications. Is it hopeless?

Thanks. That's a Mid-2007 model with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. You can run any version of Mac OS X on it up to and including Mac OS X Lion, though for Lion you'd need to increase the memory to at least 2GB, something I'd recommend doing anyway; it's inexpensive and often can increase performance. Your iMac can take up to 6GB if RAM; 4GB is probably a good compromise between cost and performance with a 4GB kit costing about $50.00 US from a reliable vendor such as Crucial.
Your system already should have included the Airport wireless networking capability, so all you'd need would be a wireless (WiFi) access point (aka "router" or "base station") and an appropriate Internet connection. Apple's Airport Express and Airport Extreme, and the Time Capsule if you'd like to have a built-in hard drive for backups and extra storage, are good choices for a WiFi access point, but there are a number of other manufacturers.
As to upgrading the operating system, as I said, you can upgrade to Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, or Mac OSX  10.7 Lion (the most recent release).  Apple no longer lists Mac OS X 10.5 on their web site, but if you call the Apple Store you may still be able to purchase a copy. Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is easily available as is Lion though with Lion you'd need the $69.00 USB flash drive installer or you'd need to purchase and install Snow Leopard first (other than on the flash drive, Lion is only available from the Mac App Store which can only be accessed from Mac OS X 10.6.6. or later). Before you decide, I'd strongly suggest you find out what versions of Mac OS X your applications and perpherals will support, either as they or with a free or affordable update. I'd suspect most of your applications and peripheral drivers would need to be upgraded, at least to support Snow Leopard or Lion. If you consider Lion, make sure of your applications; Lion will no longer run PowerPC-only applications, so many older appliations will not run under Lion.
Finally, as to Microsoft Word documents which is what I presume you mean, you can of course just purchase Microsoft Office. There are other ways to work with Word documents, though. If you just need to view Word documents, TextEdit in MOSX 10.6 and 10.7 (and perhaps 10.5; I can't remember) can open and view many Word Documents. For something a bit more capable, you can purchase Apple's Pages, part of the iWork suite and now available separately for Mac OS X 10.6 and 10.7, or try one of the open-source solutions such as LibreOffice.
    Regards.

  • Where is new safari 5 update apple?

I have tried all of the fixes for safari 5 not opening pages and none are working.
Apple must know by now that we need an update and hopefully it will come soon.
I have thrown away plists, cache files, I dont have the third party things, reset safari, repaired permissions.
still pages do not load, sometimes a reload will work and other times it will not.
Are there anyother ideas out there?

Adding DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security:
If you are using a single computer: Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2296
If your computer is part of a network: please refer to this page: http://www.opendns.com/start/bestpractices/#yournetwork and follow the advice given.
You could also try these codes as well: 4.2.2.1 & 4.2.2.2

Well, I don't use the Mac App Store (it requires the user to enable Spotlight indexing, which I don't want or need). But I can't find any way to download the new version of Safari directly from Apple's Support website. I would appreciate any help pointing me to a direct download link.
    Thanks!

    I beg to differ, amigo...
...but you're correct in saying that they're not generally available. You have to know where to find them. Evidently, you don't...and obviously I didn't either, or I wouldn't have asked. But I think I know how to find out where they are now.

  • Where can I get Safari 8.02 update?

This is on Yosemite 10.10.1. I know I can get it through App Store except - I can't. App store refuses to update anything that comes from or through Apple (and that's a whole other thread in the support groups). Third party apps download and update just fine.
I was able to update most system software, including 10.10.1, by manually downloading it through Apple's web site. But Safari doesn't seem to be available as such a download. Any idea where I could find it?
    Thanks
    Peter
PS: I have been working to find out what is preventing updates through AppStore for weeks. And it's elusive. Works fine on my Mac Mini with exact same configuration but not on my main machine iMac. When I click Update in AppStore it seems to finish after a few seconds, the update shows in the list as if successfully applied but also stays in the available list. And the updated app (in this case Safari) stays 8.0.

  • Where do I go to update my browser (Safari)?

I have a macbook pro - Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 ... YouTube says it no longer supports my browser, that I need to update.  Where , how do I do this?
Thanks for any help ... a bit computer illiterate ... need step by step help.

    https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/78358?hl=en
In order to watch YouTube videos, make sure you have the following:
    Adobe Flash Player
Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, or Opera
    Internet connection with 500+ Kbps
Movies, TV shows, and live events requirements
Some premium content on YouTube -- like movies, TV shows, and live events -- require a faster connection and greater processing power to ensure optimal streaming speeds.
    Adobe Flash Player
Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari
Operating system: Windows 7+, Mac OS X 10.7+, Ubuntu 10+, or Linux OS 11+ (64-bit)
    Internet connection with 1+ Mbps
Make sure to close other tabs, browsers, and programs while streaming your content. It may also help to hardwire your Internet connection, instead of using a wireless network connection.
Looks like you'll need at least OS X 10.7 to be able to watch all Youtube content with Safari.
However, if your MacBook support OS X 10.10 Yosemite, I advise that instead, it's the latest and greatest. How to install OS X Yosemite on your Mac - Apple Support
If you're not ready for all that, you could try using Google's own browser: Chrome. I have no personal experience whether that works better, but you can try.

  • I've updated to Safari 5; where are my Extensions?

I recently upgraded to Safari 5, and hoped to use it's new ability to use Extensions. I opened Safari/Preferences/Advanced to access the panel for enabling Extensions; however, I could not find Extensions bar. No tab or button to do it.
Where are the promised Extensions? I am otherwise up to date on my system.

    HI,
    Your preferences may be corrupted.
Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder. If Safari functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash.

  • I have an iPhone 4s.  Ever since I updated to the 7.1 iOS, I am not able to find "Private Browsing" in safari.  Does anyone know where they moved this function to?

I used to see the "Private" in the bottom left cornor of the Bookmarks function when I would go to select a bookmark or retrace my history in Safari.  Now I cannot find it anymore.  I also am not able to "Clear" my safari history unless I go through several steps, instead of being able to just hit the "Clear" on the bottom right hand corner in Bookmarks, which is still there, but I cannot select it.  Is anyone else having this problem and does anyone know how to fix it?

    Hi Angela,
I have an iPhone 4 with 7.1, but I'm seeing the same Private indicator for both the Reading List and the Web page list.
When you say you have to go through several steps to clear your History, are you talking about doing it via Settings>Safari? If not, then that would at least be a fairly quick way to do it.
Since Private is not showing for you on either the Reading list or the Web page list, try a reset on your device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, go back into Safari and see if anything has changed.
In the mean time, I'm going to continue to look around to see if there is something that controls that (like enable "Private Browsing"....or something along those lines). I'll post back if I find anything....
    Cheers,

  • HT1222 ever since updating my iPad to its 5.1.1 my apps are constantly crashing, including safari, Netflix and others. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Dos anyone know how I can report it to apple? I'm having a hard time finding where to do that.

Just as I was posting this question, my entire iPad crashed, giving me the symbol indicating it was revving back up it I had to plug it in & press the main power button to get it to come back.

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

  • Start up problems after Safari 3.1 and Security update

Updated safari and security update last night.
Safari downloaded and installed but there was an error downloading or installing the security update, I forgot.
After I restarted everything booted up fine, but was stuck on "Starting Mac OS X" screen.
Did a fsck and zap the pram, still stuck.
Today I tried booting up in safe mode, stuck on the gray screen with the apple logo.
Then I tried booting up from an external firewire dvd drive. Repaired permissions, repaired the disk, but it is still stuck on "Starting Mac OS X" screen. Help please...
    Thank you

Ok i had a similar problem, with all the recent updates for Leopard, including the 10.5.2 combo update... the 12" PowerBook G4 kept getting stuck on the grey apple and spinning wheel... if it managed to get past this it would get stuck on the blue screen!!!
The way i got around this, after trying all these other tips was: Archived & Installed 10.5; restarted, waited; downloaded 10.5.2 Combo update, installed; restarted, waited; waited; waited; after getting back to desktop, restarted, waited; then ran Software Update only installing one at a time, and after each install, restarted, waited; when all Software updates completed, proceeded with iLife updates etc... It took a while (still quicker than the 3 days of failed installs and updates) with a lot of waiting on the blue screen (5-20mins) but we got there in the end. Disks where checked with Leopard Disk Utility before and after, permissions where checked before and after completing all installs, also with a DW 4.1 optimization. Also note worthy is the RAM was upgraded from the initial 256Mb (!!!) with an extra Gb.

    Hi erastyle,
Actually the Licensing information for the package is missing hence it is not launching any applications. You need to Reserialize the products using APTEE which you can find it on the Machine where you have created the package. If you dont have the access to that Machine then please download and install Creative Cloud Packager and it will download APTEE in the below mentioned location.
    Windows:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\CCP\utilities
Once downloaded please follow this KB article to use the Tool.
