Where is security configuration for deployed web application stored
Hi,
We have deployed a folder as a web application. The changes I am making in Deployments -> web application -> Security -> URL Pattern -> Roles -> Edit a Stand-Alone Web Application URL Pattern Scoped Role is not saved and it is getting lost when I restart the application.
For example I have added "AppTesters" group in "valid-users" url-pattern.
Can anybody help me where these settings are stored and why it is not getting saved across application restarts.
Thanks,
Sambath.
How are you restarting your weblogic Admin Server?
This is only possible if some how while your Admin Server is restarted, the ldap directory that is present int the %DOMAIN_HOME%/your_domain/servers/AdminServer/data directory is deleted or updated with the previous values.
This may give you some idea how to proceed with this issue.
Thanks,
Sandeep

How to change port for deployed web application on IAS10g(from 7778 to 80)
I have deployed an application on IAS Application Server. The default link to my application is:
http:/my_sever_ip_address:7778/my_app
Can any one tell me how to change the port that my_app run on from 7778 to 80.
So that the link to my_app will be:
http:/my_sever_ip_address/my_app (run on default port 80)
Very urgent!
ThxYou need to read the Oracle® Application Server 10g Administrator's Guide of your installation, which is also available online. In particular, for 9.0.4, you need to read the chapter Managing ports. Basically you need to change your web-cache listener port if web-cache is installed; otherwise you need to change Oracle HTTP Server Port.
Also note tht port 80 requires extra steps since it is a restricted port. -
Configure Log File for each web application deployed in weblogic server usi
Hi All,
How do I configure Log4J to log separately for each web application? i.e. Assuming, I have a web application "AWeb" and a web application "BWeb". I need a log file to be created for AWeb Separately and BWeb Separately. i.e. All the log information for "AWeb" web application will be stored in AWeb.log and all the "BWeb" web application will be stored in BWeb.log
Do you have any sample code and configuration details for the above-mentioned requirement?
Thanks in Advance,
C R BaradwajYou do not need to do anything strange, just use log4j the usual way with the exception that you do not need to init log4j (this is not necesary when using a log4j.xml.)
A minimal sample of a log4j.xml is
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<!DOCTYPE log4j:configuration SYSTEM "log4j.dtd">
<log4j:configuration xmlns:log4j="http://jakarta.apache.org/log4j/">
<appender name="ConsoleAppender" class="org.apache.log4j.ConsoleAppender">
<layout class="org.apache.log4j.SimpleLayout"/>
</appender>
<root>
<priority value ="debug" />
<appender-ref ref="ConsoleAppender"/>
</root>
</log4j:configuration>
You just have to be sure that you have different log4j.xml in your classpath for different web applications.

Configuring the authentication scheme for a web application
Hi all,
We have a requirement to configure the authentication scheme for a web application where some set of users should access the application using basic LDAP (userid/password) authentication and some using digital certificate authentication.
Since the deployment descriptor (web.xml) allows only one directive for auth-method in logic-config, we want to know if there is any other way to achieve this requirement. We are thinking of a custom login module approach. But we are not able to figure out how to configure the auth-method at runtime from the login servlet.
Please let us know if there is any other approach to achieve this.
I will be thankful if any body shares any specific solution to this issue.This forum is probably not the correct one to ask in. It's more related to the web container than Java Programming.

How to create separate log files for each deployed web application in oc4j
Hi All,
I am using Windows2000, Oracle9iAS(OC4J). Say I have deployed 3 web applications onto this oc4j server. Then how to create 3 different log files so that I can see the log messages(System.out.println's) of each of these web appliations in a different log file.
Thanks and Regards,
Ravi.Where do the messages printed via ServletContext.log() go? Is this configurable separately by web application? If so, you could at least replace your System.out.println() with sc.log() statements. For exceptions, you could trap them and log them since the log() method takes a throwable as well as a String.

different components of the archive to
deployed on different servers.
-id <task identifier> Optional client supplied unique identifier
for the deployment task. The id is first
specified to -activate, -deactivate,
-unprepare or -remove. It is then used later

Hello,
I have three web applications on a SharePoint 2013 servers. In Central Administrators on the Application Management page where it lists all of the web applications, it shows Port 80 being used 2 3 sites. When I go to IIS, 2 of the 3 are using
different ports, 81 and 82. So, only one site IIS says is using port 80. Why is this? The host file has no entries in it. Where these web applications extended?
Thanks,
Paul
PaulHi Paul,
From the URL of the web application in Central Administration in the image, you have configured the Alternate Access Mapping for the web applications.
And the URL configured is by default using port 80 if you don’t
assign other ports for the web application, so the port is changed to 80 in Central Administration.
To be able to access the web application, you need to add binging for the web application in IIS(please make sure that you have added the host name in DNS).
For example, SharePoint – 32298, you need to create the binding for the web application in IIS as the image below:
Best regards.

How to deploy web applications on d:\web
Hi all,
I am new to this forum and like to know the procedure for deploying a web application

Urgent:Please Help. Need to deploy web application with servlet:(
Tomcat 4.0 is already installed.
Trying to deploy a web application and invoke a servlet through it.
Here is the command I am using for deploying the application:
http://localhost:8080/manager/install?path=/NewApplication&war=file:d:\Tomcat4\webapps\NewApplication
The application get deployed. However, I have a problem. As soon I stop and restart the server, this application is gone.
1. Please someone help: How should I make it permanent so that the application stays even if I restart the server.
2. I am not able to access the servlets placed in the /WEB-INF/classes/ sub-directory under NewApplication directory.
If you need I can cut and paste the web.xml file which will show the deployment descriptor.
Please help: How do I make this work. I need it urgent.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Indrasish.The simplest solution would be to put the war file inside the webapps directory and restart the server. You should be able to access the app using the http://servername/app

Failed to deploy web application with same name twice
Hello-
On Oracle 10g Application server I deployed an WAR file called "anbadmin", then undeployed it. The undepoloyment failed from the OEM so I undeployed it manually via removing its entries from server.xml.
When I tried to deploy it again with the same name I got this:
Failed to deploy web application "anbadmin". Failed to deploy web application "anbadmin". . The evaluate phase failed. The Adapter used in the evaluate may have thrown an exception.
Resolution:
Please call Oracle support.
Base Exception:
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError
null. java.lang.NoSuchMethodError
Is there a solution for this?
RegardsI think I know the solution. We encountered exactly same message and no further deployment could be made. It appeared message in "dcmctl" utility was much more helpfull than the one in EM (though you still have to use "getError" command...)
If you are using file-based repository, you have to issue command in dcmctl utility "resetFileTransaction". This closes repository and opens it again.

Enable the security configuration for this panel
Why do my panels built with Configurator sometimes display
this in Ps Cs4?
"Please close all panels or restart Photoshop to enable the
security configuration for this panel"
Closing panels or restarting Photoshop does not enable the
panels but exporting from Configurator does enable them. Why do I
have to keep exporting?I believe I have stumbled on the answer to this problem, so I
would like to pass it along to any other users who have a similar
problem.
My experience is that this is an intermittent problem, so I
asked myself what do I do from time to time that could be causing
this difficulty. The answer is I use a program called CC cleaner to
clean out temporary files (that in theory I don't need). I found
that after running CC cleaner, I have to re-export the
configuration file (as I get the error message described in an
earlier posting) so that the configurator panel subsequently opens
properly when I open up C S 4.
I immediately ran CC cleaner again and found that it wanted
to delete only one group of files that were located in the
following folder:
C:\Documents and settings\user's name\application
data\Macromedia\flash player\*.*
Accordingly, I instructed " CC cleaner", to exclude this
folder and everything in it (from deletion):
Now if I run CC cleaner to get rid of all my temporary
Internet files and other temporary files, but it leaves the above
folder untouched, and so far the configurator panel opens up
properly in Photoshop.
I don't use Windows "disk cleaner" so I'm not sure whether or
not this cleaner represents a potential problem. In any event it's
the Macromedia folder described above that causes the problem.
It's clear that Adobe configurator uses Macromedia flash to
do its thing, so hopefully I've solve this problem
long-term. -

-KieuHi Kieu,
Perhaps you can try moving the webapp dir outside config/mydomain/applications.
The webapp should be configurable from anywhere besides the applications directory.
Any archives placed in the applications directory will be deployed automatically.
I'm not sure why you are seeing the webapp as an app below your Applications node
in the console though. Which version of wls are you using?

Why an organization require SSL for Shared Web Applications?
Hi
what is ssl and why an organization require SSL for Shared Web Applications?
adilHi adil,
Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is an encrypted communication protocol which uses encryption certificates. For more information about SSL in SharePoint, please refer to:

Make a jar file availlable for all web application at deployement time
Hi !
Is there a way to make a jar file availlable to all web application included in a .ear file. I know that i can manually copy the jar under (OC4J_HOME)/j2ee/home/lib , but can i create a package that have those web application ( lets say 4 ) and also the common jar file, deploy the that .ear file and make my jar file automatically availlable for all the deployed web application ? or is there a special command that i can use to copy that jar to the (OC4J_HOME)/j2ee/home/lib while deploying the .ear file ?
i tried adding a manifest file with the classpath option but this seem to work only with jsp...
thanx for your audience...Open the file %J2EE_HOME%/applcation-deployments/your-app/orion-application.xml. Add a tag like the one below:
<library path="location_of_my_library.jar" />
This will make the JAR availible to only your application, and the modules within it, and no others.
