Where is "Show Package Contents"

I've update my osx into yosemite. Now i want to view application package contents. In earlier version of osx there was a option name "show package contents". But now when i right click on application there has no "show package contents" option.
now how to view the package contents??

I'm having the same issue. I right click on a .pkg installer, and there is no "Show Package Contents" in the contextual menu. The package installs just fine, so it's a proper Installer package.

  • Under "show package contents," where can I find edited photos from Photos app?

    Hi everyone!
I'm getting used to the new Photos app on Mac. In the Finder, under "Show Package Contents" (from the Photos library) I am able to see a folder titled "Masters" which has all of the original photos that I import into the Photos library.
I edited some of these photos in the Photos app, and put them into an album. Where, under "Show Package Contents" can I find the edited photos in this album? I looked in all the subfolders but can't seem to find them.
    Thanks in advance.

Have a look at this: It was written about iPhoto but it's about 95% accurate for Photos too. The first one is the one I'm thinking  about:

  • Window blank when I click "Show Package Contents" in Pictures folder

Long story short, I have two iPhoto libraries - one on an old laptop and one on a new MacBook Air (10.6.4). I have been trying to copy the old iPhoto library from the old laptop to the new laptop (so that I would be able to access both libraries on the new laptop by holding down option when starting iPhoto and selecting one or the other).
I copied the old iPhoto library into the "Pictures" folder on the new laptop. Then I did some ill-advised tidying up (I know, I know, I'm an idiot) in that "Pictures" folder. As I understand it, inside "Pictures", there should be an "iPhoto Library" folder but that has now gone. In fact, there is nothing in "Pictures" at all. When I right click on "Pictures" and select ""Show Package Contents" I get a blank window.
I have the two iPhoto libraries (old and new) elsewhere on my hard drive - in a folder I created in the home directory ("Pictures 2" > "iPhoto Library"). iPhoto can read the two libraries from there no problem. But I cannot drag and drop the libraries into the "Pictures" folder, where they should be, because I get an error message: "You can’t open the application “Pictures” because it may be damaged or incomplete". When I click on "Pictures", it doesn't open in Finder but iPhoto opens up showing whatever library I used last.
Someone on the iPhoto forum suggested that I post this problem here: "That sounds very like the Pictures Folder has had it's Execute bit set and the Mac now thinks it's an application. The solution to this is a trip to the Terminal. Post this here: http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1339 and someone will give you the Terminal commands to fix that." So I'm hoping that someone here can help me out!
Let me know if you need any further info. The other thread is here:

    Many thanks.

I'm having the same exact problem. I have an older macbook pro and I was trying to copy the iphoto library to my new imac. I was stupidly messing around with the pictures folder on the comp when things weren't migrating correctly, then it suddenly changed from a folder to a package and I got the same error when I tried to delete. Any suggestions?

  • "Show Package Content" organization ... or lack thereof.

I have been using iPhoto on and off again since 2004. Over the years we have updated our computer various times, so the pictures have been constantly moved around from iPhoto '04 to '06 to '08 to'09. My husband has also 'backed up' my photos by dropping them into an external hard drive. Plus, I occasionally used an old PC to store pictures, and those too were put onto the hard drive. In the end, that meant that we had over 26,000 photos, mostly duplicates, on our hard drive.
This month I finally went through all those pictures, deleted duplicates, and imported them all to iPhoto '09. I organized them by albums, and named and dated everything. (Some of the pictures were placed under the wrong date because of either camera setting problems or because they were edited in Photoshop and the saved with the editing date.)
So I just cleared my hard drive and went to move my newly organized iPhoto files to the hard drive, but I'm having issues. When I right click the iPhoto icon and select "Show Package Contents" I see all sorts of folders and junk. Frankly, I don't understand most of it. But I can see that there are pictures under the files "Data", "Data.noindex","Modified", and "Originals". The problem is this: the files aren't organized at all in there! I guess I expected them to be organized either like they were in iPhoto (the way I just did them) or like they used to be in old iPhotos (you know, with the years, then 1-12 for the months, then the numbers for the days, etc.) Instead, they are organized under the old dates, folders with one picture will not have any other pictures that were taken at the same time, pictures that I deleted will show up, etc. (And yes, I did empty the iPhoto trash.) I'm just wondering where on earth the organization is, and if I can trust that everything is in there when I move it to my hard drive.

What if I decide in the future that I don't want to use iPhoto? Or what if I want to burn all these files onto a cd for others to use that don't have iPhoto?
Simply select the photo(s) in iPhoto and export (file menu ==> export) and use the photos however you want - quick and simple - your photos are always available for any use
Do I have to save all the files externally as well so that the pictures are actually organized outside of iPhoto?
You can but it is a waste of time and disk IMHO since they are always readily available as describe above

  • Photos Missing from Original's Show Package Content

Because I still have some photos with the ! over them when clicked, I decided to make a new library with the originals from the iPhoto Show Package Contents.
I moved the existing library folder to the desktop and opened the library package with a control-click, clicked on "Originals". However, when I looked at the contents of "Originals" that the menu listed, the more recent additions to the library where not displayed in the menu.
I placed the library back in "Finder/Pictures" and opened iPhoto again. Sure enough, the most recent photos that I had added to the library appeared in iPhoto.
How can I get those most recently added photos to display in the originals so that I can create a new library?
Oh yes, I did not make any changes at any time!
    Thanks for your help.
    Vernon

If you want to create a new library with all of the photos in your current library download and use iPhoto Library Manager to rebuild the library. This method will keep the metadata intact. Here's how:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be untouched for further attempts at fixing or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
Control click on one of the photos that you can't fine in the Originals folder and select "Show File" in the contextual menu. You will be taken to the folder that contains the photo. If the photo is displayed you can check to see where it's located.
If you experience the "!" again there are two methods to recover:
Try the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options.
    Fix #2
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:

  • How do i "show package contents" on .webtemplate files that have arrow

    Hi,
    Quick question:
How do i "show package contents" on .webtemplate files that have a small arrow attached on the file icon. Its a template a downloaded from 11mystics.com (free). When i right click the icon there is no "show package contents" available on the drop down menu....
    Thanx!

When you bring up the contextual menu for the icon, choose "Show Original". This will take you to where the original file is and you should be able to "Show Package Contents" on it.

  • Mountian lion show package contents

We bought my daughter a macbook pro with Mountain Lion. She has Sims 3. We backed up all of her custom stuff when she had windows 7 prior to this mac. She loaded the Sims games via DVD/CD ROM onto her new mac. We want to put her saved games etc into this folder in Applciations....I can't find how to show package contents? Where  is this now...or are we out of luck to do this.

There's no reason to show package contents. What exactly are you trying to do? Saved games would usually be put into a separate folder most likely in the /Home/Documents/ folder. You don't make any changes to an application's package contents.

  • I am trying to Show Package contents of iMovie and it freezes at the hr.lprog folder

While doing a virus scan my machine would freeze on the file
    Applications/iMovie/Contents/Resource/hr.lprog/Title-SidewaysDrifting.nib/keyedo bjects.nib.
Bitdefender said to send them the file.
I am able to "Show package contents" of iMovie, and open the Contents and Resources folder. When I try to open the hr.lprog folder, I get the spinning beach vball of death and I have to reboot my machine using the power button.
Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this and how to fix it?
Is the hr.lprog folder just the language files for Croatia? If so, can I safely delete them, or is there more to it?

My guess would be that your hard drive has become corrupt, and the corruption is affecting something about that folder or its contents such that when the Finder tries to display them, it crashes. I would recommend immediatelyrepairing with Disk Utility. Also, if you don't have any backups, now would be a good time to start, before something bad happens.
If repairing the hard drive doesn't work, I would try deleting and reinstalling iMovie.
Also, note that I don't recommend BitDefender. Read my Mac Malware Guide, and if after reading that you want to have anti-virus software, use one of the programs it recommends. BitDefender has performed poorly in my anti-virus software testing, both in the first round and the second round of testing.

  • Show Package Content option not available in Ctrl+click

    Hi,
I just installed Mozilla's Thunderbird email SW (v. 1.5.0.5) and I'm trying to import the mail I had accumulated previously in Mail 2.1 (this is under OS X Tiger 10.4.7, sadly running on a pretty old G4 400 MHz, AGP Graphics). The instructions from Mozilla seem pretty simple:
    <<How do I import e-mail messages from mail.app (MacOS X)?
Go to ~/Library/Mail/ and root out the .mbox files in the finder. These are actually OSX packages. Select Show Package Contents and a new window will open revealing several files including a file named mbox. Copy that file to the subfolder called Local Folders in the folder Mail in your profile folder and rename it to something meaningful. This process needs to be done for each of your mailboxes. Finally start Thunderbird to see the new mail folders.>
Well, I'm also a recent convert to OS X ('twas about time! I was still running OS 9.2.2 less than a month ago!), so I had never heard of "Show Package Contents". It seems that I should be able to see this in the contextual menu when I Ctrl+click (or right-click; I have a multi-button mouse) on the object (the *.mbox folder in this case). But my contextual menu has no such option.
    Any ideas?
    Louis

Hmm... They do look like folders, don't they? Perhaps they were thinking of an earlier release of OS X...
Anyway, what you describe is close but not exactly what I see. Let me describe to make sure the situation is clear: I am in home>Library>Mail>Mailboxes. Inside this, I have a set of *.mbox "folders", each of which contains only two items: an "info.plist" file and a "Messages" folder. The "Messages" folders (within each *.mbox folder) contain individual messages with the .emlx extension.
So the *.mbox "folders" contain no mbox file that I can grab and move (and no index, content.index, of table of contents that you mention). Perhaps these are "hidden"? But I can't find an option anywhere to "Show hidden files".
    Ideas?

  • Where is the Package Contents in Contextual Menu

When control clicking a folder to open the Contextual Menu, as instructed in a tutorial, I should be getting a "Show Package Contents", but this is nowhere to be seen. In this case I´m refering to the Inbox.mbox folder. Anyone know why?

Have a look at this comment below the tutorial:
" tried it and it does indeed work, however, there is one small change to make.
When you change Inbox.mbox to just InBox in Finder, it becomes(always was) just another folder, which contains a file called mbox this is the file which you want to move into the specified thunderbird directory and rename to match whatever folder you are replacing.
Also in the thunderbird folder in addition to the InBox file, there is a Inbox.msf file, if you have ever had anything in the inbox. It is probably a good idea to remove that file as it seems to be an index of the actual InBox fle. Might get a bit messy if you dont remove it. Though I didnt decide to test it.
I am just trying Thuderbird out to see if I like it, so I can't yet comment on it compared to Mail.app, however, compared to Entourage it is great. Of course I switched from mail.app to Entourage and then switched back to mail.app after deciding that Entourage sucked. I specifically hated the search function in Entourage, it was fairly sophisticated in that you could refine your searches very well, but, it took for freaking ever to run a search on my mailboxes. Yes I did have a very large Mailbox at the time, but Mail.app was able to search it quite quickly.
So far I have only one complaint about Thunderbird, if you have multiple accounts, it will only let you search in one of them at a time. I worked arround that by setting filters so that all the mail goes into local folders anyway, so it wasnt a big deal.

  • How do I undo "Show package content"?

I imported a ACVHD file to my mac and select to "Show package content". Now the video files wont import to Final Cut Pro X because it's not seeing the index file (which I have). How do I undo "show package content" or re-package the files? I'm on Mac 10.8. Thanks!
    Amalia

I just wanted to make sure all the video files were there before I deleted them off the flashcard in the camera. Didn't know it would cause a problem until now when I'm trying to import everything to from my external hard drive to final cut pro... :-\ Is viewing packge content an irriversable thing? I just assumed there would be a hide content option since there was a show contnet option but clearly wasn't the case. I did not move or delete any files. The index file is clearly there as well as the mts files and cpi files...
Here's  ascreen shot of the file structure. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

  • Workflow to show package contents

I have 190 'incremental backup packages' created by Apple's Backup software. I need to search within those packages for all files with a certain file extension, but it's a fairly laborious process to open each one:
    1. Right-click each and 'show package contents'
    2. Open a single folder called 'contents'.
    3. Open another 'contents' folder inside that one (if it exists, in some it doesn't).
    4. Mount/open a disk image called 'Backup.sparseimage' within that folder. That creates a mounted disk image called 'Documents'.
    5. Within that disk image, search all folders and subfolders for all files with an extension .ccsketchpad - and ideally grab them all and put them somewhere convenient for me to find them (I could create a folder on the desktop for that purpose).
I feel that Automator is probably the way to go, but I'm literally stuck at the first hurdle - showing package contents. Any help with any/all parts of the above process very much appreciated : )
    Thanks.

    Thanks Niel,
I'm struggling a little though. When you say to select each folder prior to running the script, which folder do you mean? Each 'incremental backup package' file? I get an error that the folder can't be found if I do that.
It seems that the script still requires me to manually control-click each one to 'show package contents' before being able to access the first 'contents' folder. Even when I do that, I still get the error:
Finder got an error: Can't get file "Backup.sparseimage" of folder "Contents" of folder "Contents" of document file "Documents - .IncrementalBackup" of folder "Desktop" of folder "lithiumdave" of folder "Users" of startup disk.
I really need something that will be able to act on all 200 package files.
    Sorry if I've misunderstood : )
    Thanks.

  • Gettin' tired of clicking "Show package contents" for avchd etc folders

    Hi
I have many  avchd vid files in their proper folders saved on drives. Since upgrading to Mavs, if I want to look at the video and I'm not in FCPX, I have to click on 'AVCHD' and choose "Show package contents", then do the same with BDMV to finally see the files.
Seems like I've come across this in non-video related things a couple times, too.
Any way to skip having to do the "Show package contents" dance? If there is a solution is it only in general or can one choose what not to always 'bundle'? A bit of a stupid question, but...
    me stupit,
    elmer

Drag the AVCHD icon to QuickTime X, or just double click on it. It will open to a  thumbnail  display of the video files contained in the package.

  • Rebuild Library with 'show package contents'

There is a more comprehensive way of rebuilding the library by deleting some items within the Aperture library. I have forgotten what they are and wonder if you remember.
    Thank you,
    Jeffrey

    Chad
    Sorry Chad, but
I think I have all of the pictures in thumbnail form, so is there a way to re-create the original quality photos from those.
No. If you try interpolate pixels - which apps like Photoshop can do, after adding about 3% it will all turn to rubbish.
If there is no way of acheiving the above, then is there any way to extract the photos from any of the "weird" files within the "show package contents" of the iphoto library?
    Again no.
But look inside the Originals Folder in there. Are your pics inside that one?
    Regards
    TD
