Where is Solaris 10 Companion Disk?

Hi all!
When I have just finished setting up Solaris 10 on my PC (x86 - Intel), I realized that the X-Windows is not a part within CDs. Anh I do not how to download them, exactly, I do not know about their address in Sun website.
Would you like to guide me?
Thank you very much!

  • Solaris 10 Companion Disk Install Problem

    Hi All,
Trying to add a few things to a Solaris 10 (Sparc) install, from the
Software Compainion disk. When I go through the install, either GUI
or texted based it will fail in the end. If you look at the last part
of the text below you can you can see I have selected the packages,
then agreed to the license, next it acts like it going to install but
    stop and reports nothing installed.
Next you can select 4 to be "Done" or 1-3 to view log.
    Log states following:
    /var/sadm/install/logs/Desktop-Environment_install.B02081004 does not
    exist
I only selected one of the logs to view that time through, but the
other installs would have the same error, something like:
    /var/sadm/install/logs/X-Applications_install.B02080955 does not exist
    /var/sadm/install/logs/Application-Utilities_install.B02080955 does not
    exist
I have plenty of disk space, 12GB free on /opt and 14GB free on / and
    16GB on /usr.
I have the boxed set of Solaris 10 disk, but I have even downloaded
another disk image thinking my disk was some how bad, still same
    results.
Any ideas on what is going on?
    Thanks
    Joe

    Hi Joe,
If you cd into the cdrom from command line:
    # cd /cdrom/cdrom0
    # ls
you should see some kind of structure to how the the packages are laid out on the disk.
Use pkgadd on one or more package:
    # pkgadd -d . <package_name>
You will get more output this way.

I got the PCI E Series RLP Manual, which keeps talking about the companion disk. How can I obtain this disk?

    Hi flofish,
To address your question, I've included two zip files containing the E Series Manual, the DAQ-STC Documentation, and E Series Examples.

  • Where is "Reserve space for disk use" in iTunes? Docs are out of date

    Hello,
Where did "Resereve space for disk use" go in iTunes? I can't find it any more.
This is major problem because if I want to auto-fill my phone (I don't have time to constantly set up playlists) I then get constantly get errors that my phone is full and that I can't take photos. This is really frustrating.
If I got to iTunes Help, the documentation is wrong and out of date. I have iTunes 11.1.5 and if I go to Help -> iTunes Help and look at this section, it's completely wrong. See attached screenshot.
The whole iTunes UX has become a confusing mess, I hope you're looking for a new product manager for it.
    Thank you,
    Geoff

I am having the same issue. It even tells you that you can reserve space on your phone in the iTunes help, but I can not figure out how to open the Autofill Settings window in iTunes. Here is what it says in help of iTunes 12.0.1.26:
    Autofill settings
You can use Autofill to add songs to your iPod, iPhone, or iPad with a single click. You can set Autofill to select songs at random, or you can customize your settings.
You can select these options in the Autofill Settings window:
Other options are available at the bottom of the iTunes window when you're viewing music on your device:

  • Solaris 10 "No disks found!" -- but disks are, indeed, there!

I am attempting to install Solaris 10 on an E450. I have 4 18G SCSI disks installed in the E450.
When I boot from the install cd (Solaris 10 Install Disk 1), it boots up just fine, and I go through the initial configuration menu (networking, name service, kerberos, etc.), and when it gets to "Configuring System", it stops at 4% with the error "No Disks Found! Please make sure your drives are properly cabled and powered up.".
Clicking "OK" drops me into a terminal window. Running format at this point show all the drives are, indeed, there. I have reformatted and repartitioned the drives, but all to no avail.
Any ideas? Any/all help is MOST appreciated!

    ALL
    Found the answer!!!!
Seems that the Solaris installer doesnt understand EFI labels, and if (like me) you have been playing around with linux / freebsd ultrasparc ports, you may have inadvertently removed the backup partition (which spans the entire drive, 3rd partiton).
Without this format thinks its dealing with an EFI disk, and you can label it till the cows come home, the installer just doesnt want to know.
    The answer is:
    'format -e'
    select the drive
    'label'
    select SMI
dont choose format.dat (unless it contains your drive .. unlikely)
    choose SCSI 2 autodetect.
    partition as per admin manual.
You may also have to do an 'installboot ...etc etc.."<br /><a href="http&#58;&#47;&#47;docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-5093/6mkisoq39?a=view" target="_blank">http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-5093/6mkisoq39?a=view</a><br /><br />explains it<br /><br />I can now install Solaris 10<br /><br />The Sproggg<br /><br />PS:<br />I reckon that a brand new drive might need the same treatment.... YMMV<br /><br />PPS:<br />if your disks are over 2 tb they have to use the EFI labelling method ... if you have these you can afford your own sun support contract to figure it out....

  • Adding packages from solaris 8 install disks

I need Solaris Make for Solaris 8. I have installed Solaris 8 off of downloaded Solaris 8 install disks. I apparently forgot to include Solaris Make in the install and now need to add it. When I copy the pkg SUNWxcu4t (the pkg for make and scc) and pkgadd it it claims installation is sucessful but still I have no make. It is supposed to install to /usr but there is no make there.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks

Ok I have all of my compilling isuse resolved!
Just in case anyone else browsing this forum has the same problems here is what I have learned:
    These are the relevent Packages:
for tools (ar, sccs, lex, yacc, make, nm, truss, ld, as)
    SUNWbtool, SUNWsprot, SUNWtoo
    for libraries & headers:
    SUNWhea, SUNWarc, SUNWlibm, SUNWlibms
    SUNWdfbh, SUNWcg6h
    for ucb compat:
    SUNWsra, SUNWsrh
You definatly need to use Solaris make (found in SUNWsprot), Solaris ar (found in SUNWbtool),
gnu tar, and gnu cc both from sunfreeware.com (I love pkg-get ^_^)
either add /opt/sfw/bin/ to your path or put a dynamic link for gcc into /usr/local/bin/ I prefer the latter.
and add /usr/ccs/bin/ to your path permanently.
Thanks for your help every one.

  • Install problems from 10g companion disk

I have tried multiple times to install HTML DB from the 10g companion disk onto a Windows XP pro machine that already has AS 10g infrastructure and mid tier installed. I am installing into a new Oracle home. I am installing using the 10g companion disk and OUI. Everything installs and the configuration assistants run and say they completed successfully but there are a lot of errors in the HTML DB configuration assistant.
In the log, just after creating the HTML DB user I start getting errors like the following
    ...done Oracle SYS grants
...CONNECT as the Oracle user who will own the flows engine
    Session altered.
    I. I N S T A L L P R E - C R E A T E T A B L E S P E C S
    ...wwv_flow_init_htp_buffer
    Procedure created.
    No errors.
grant execute on wwv_flow_init_htp_buffer to public
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
This happens in the log right after the script successfully creates the user and does grants as SYS. It seems it does not have permissions to grant to PUBLIC as it just create the procedure.
    I later get error like
create unique index wwv_flow_sw_statements_idx on wwv_flow_sw_statements
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    create index wwv_flow_sw_statements_idx2 on wwv_flow_sw_statements
    (file_id)
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
Even though the configuration assistant says it completed successfully, what I end up with is a bunch of compilation errors in the flows_010500 user, and I am assuming that I am also missing objects.
Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Larry,
When logged in to the same database you are installing HTML DB in, can you perform GRANT EXECUTE TO PUBLIC on anything at all?

The start up disk is normally just the hard disk in your computer.  Where you normally keep all your files.  Technically, it is the disk that contains the operating system which is being used - from which the computer starts.

  • Solaris 8 boot disk...

I have been having problems trying to install Solaris 8 to a PC. I keep getting the error "can't open - no VTOC" when booting with the CD and people have been suggesting I need to use the Solaris fdisk and format tools but I cant find a boot disk anywhere on the CD or the web site. Can anyone tell me where to download one or maybe email me one???
    Getting frustrated in Ohio,
    Thanks a million

    Hi,
You can download the DCA diskette from the web site:
    http://soldc.sun.com/support/drivers/dca_diskettes/#s8
You would find all the releases of Solaris. You can check the integriry of the CD which you have burnt by mounting it on another Solaris machine(if you have any). You can try booting from the cd 1 of 2 after you have created a small dos partition and made it active.
    Hope that helps.

  • Where can I get the disks for a mac mini 2006?

My mini (early 2006) crashed. All I get is the line after line of start up dialogue. I am missing the disks that came with the computer and have no way of booting it. Can anyone suggest a program that will boot the mini and repair it or else where I can get the system disks. I have looked on the Apple site but cannot locate them. Thanks.

  • Can I run Mac Os 10.4 on my iMac G4 Dome? Where can I get install disks?

I have an iMac G4 that currently has Mac OS10.3.9 installed.  I am unable to connect to the internet using my Airport Extreme even though there is an Airport card installed..  Can I install Mac OS 10.4 and if so where can I get installation CD's/DVD's for PPC G4?

Check in the Airport forums here:
    AirPort
There may be a way to change security settings on the AEBS to accomodate the older OS.
As for OS versions, any iMac G4 can run OS 10.4.11, and those with a 1ghz or faster processor can run OS 10.5.8. However, demand has pushed prices of legitimate retail install packages for older Mac OS versions sky-high---often more than the computer is worth used---and has also attracted the attention of scam artists. There are NO downloadable versions of the Mac OS since 7.5. Any offered are scams and piracy.
You cannot use the gray system install/restore disks that came with another Mac model. A retail disk is black witha  big X and will NOT say "Up to Date" on it.
Another caution: Some older G4 iMacs shipped with CD drives, not DVDs, and most Tiger retail disks out there are DVDs. Make sure your computer can use a DVD system disk before your order.

  • Where is my Start up Disk Located

I keep getting Pop ups telling me my Start up disk is full I do not know where it is could  you tell me where I could find it and how I can clean it out?

If you click on the HDD icon in the upper right hand corner of your desktop (usually MacIntosh HD) COMMAND-I (the letter i), you will get a display such as this.  Examine the data for 'Used' and 'Available'.  If you need space, down load from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper (free) and open it.  This will show your files and the respective sizes.  Delete or transfer to another HDD the files you do not wish you retain on you internal HDD.
    Ciao.
