Where is the address bar gone?

there is no address bar in the last couple of versions of firefox ? not on permanent display anyway and i want them.

'''See item #2''' in the following and also display the Navigation Toolbar
You can make Firefox 4.0.1 and '''Firefox 5.0''' look like Firefox 3.6.17, see numbered items 1-10 in the topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 look like 3.6)]
If you are in Full Screen Mode, toggle on/off with F11. Even in Full Screen mode you can move the cursor up through to top to see the menus, or use Ctrl+L to have entry access to the Location Bar.

  • Where's the task bar gone?

The task bar and the status bar have both disappeared. How do I restore them?

Hi Alembic, could you clarify which "status bar" is missing? Firefox 29 and newer do not have the old Add-on bar / Status bar unless you are using an extension to restore them.
Regarding the Taskbar, unless you are in Firefox's full screen view -- F11 switches between normal view and full screen view -- Firefox should never hide the Windows Task bar. When that happens, it can be due to a corrupted settings file. Here is how to clear that file:
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
    * (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This should launch a new window listing various files and folders in Windows Explorer.
Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "power" button
    * (menu bar) File > Exit
Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename '''xulstore.json''' to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename that one to localstore.old.
Start Firefox back up again. Does Firefox display normally again?

  • Where, O where, has my address bar gone? (And how do I get it back?)

My location bar has disappeared. There is only the search bar. I want two separate bars, not one. How do I get back my location bar?

You have the Classic Theme Restorer extension and that makes the Navigation Toolbar work differently.
You can check the settings of this extension in its Options/Preferences in Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions.
It is also possible to hide the Navigation Toolbar when CTR is installed and enabled.
Make sure all toolbars are visible.
    *"3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize > Show/Hide Toolbars
*View > Toolbars<br>Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
    *Right-click empty toolbar area
Open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.
*"3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize
*if missing items are in the Customize palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
*if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette then click the Restore Defaults button to restore the default toolbar setup
You can try to delete the xmlstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • Where has the Application Bar gone in CS6 and can I get it to show?

I use this a lot in CS5 and notice it isn't showing in CS6, is there any way to make it show?

The Application Bar was intentionally removed. A majority of users told us they'd rather have the extra vertical space for their images than the Application Bar.
All of the commands are available elsewhere or can be access more easily with keyboard shortcuts:

Zoom level can be controlled via keyboard shortcuts or UI found at the bottom of the document window.

  • Where has the progress bar gone from the bottom of my form

The progress bar has DISAPPEARED from the bottom of my forms. They are questionnaires so it is essential that I have them!
Has the feature been removed or is it just a bug?

It no longer appears for a one page form or on the last page of a multiple page form.
Are you not seeing it on other pages of a multiple page form? Can you send a link to your form to [email protected] so we can take a look.

  • Where has the address option gone on Mail?

On Maverick under window (I think) there was an address option where you could click on it and then your address book would open and you could choose who to send your email to - On Yosemite this option appears to be missing or am I not seeing it.?

In Yosemite mail , just click on the plus sign in To : Column to bring up all your addresses in Contacts app.

  • I can not delete my history and adding new bookmarks. Upgrading to later Firefox versions and/or re-installing didn't help. The address bar still shows the web addresses of old and whenever I make new bookmarks, it's always gone as if it was never made.

I can not delete my history and adding new bookmarks.
Upgrading to later Firefox versions and/or re-installing didn't rectify it either.
The address bar still shows the web addresses of old and whenever I make new bookmarks, it's always gone as if it was never made.
Also, I have noticed that every once in awhile you can not close tabs you've opened, either by pushing on the X button and/or clicking on the mouse to close it. Although closing the window and opening it again (without closing the Firefox application) seemed to rectify the problem in the short term, it's becoming quite annoying.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== the Firefox is being used

    I think I have a solution.
First, download the add-on SQManager. This should be included with FireFox, it is really good.
Look for the file '''moz_hosts''' in the folder '''places.sqlite'''.
Don't delete the file, just delete the information in the file. My file has over 3600 websites, which go back years!! I did not know they were there, but I was frustrated about not being able to get rid of them. They popped up every time I used the address bar. Clearing my history would not get rid of them.
This is where they are stored!! I found that by deleting the pesky web site from '''moz_hosts''', it does not appear in my address bar anymore!!!
I think that if I just delete all the websites in moz_hosts....
    Wa-la...History Gone!!!
As long as you don't delete the file, just empty it, FireFox won't know the difference. It will just keep adding websites to it until you empty it again.
Why running "clear recent history" doesn't do this, I don't know. You are doing manually what "clear recent history" is not doing.
Please tell me if you see any flaw in this.

  • Where is the little "F" box on the left before the address bar that allowed me to make quick posts to Facebook?

Before this update I had a little box on the left in front of the address bar that allowed me to click it and get a quick post box pop up to Facebook from whatever page I was on, now it is gone and I cannot find it. I had to do a reset of Firefox because it was running very slowly. I got a little message at the bottom that suggested the reset and so I did that. I have never had issues when there was an update. But it seems that my add-ons are gone :( I had a little menu drop down on the left side in front of the Most Visited that had all of the social media quick links also and it is gone now. I will check back in 24 hours to see if anyone has any ideas on where my little quick post button went.

That is not a standard feature of Firefox.
'''Reset''' removes all extensions and themes, along with other specific things, as explained in this support article.
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems#w_what-does-the-reset-feature-do
You need to reinstall which extension added that '''F''' to Firefox.

  • How do I turn off that silly flash warning where the favicon is suppoed to be in the address bar

I recently noticed that the powers that be at Mozilla are now dumbing down firefox to the level of AOL. They added a new 'protect me from myself' feature where there is a little icon in the address bar next to where the favicon is supposed to be that warns about a page using flash. REALLY? You think users are THAT stupid? How do I turn that off. It is so silly and stupid.
BTW, PLEASE stop going down that path. The main reason FF has been superior is that it didn't try to warn me about every little thing on line and protect me from mys elf at every nook and cranny. Crap if you are going to continue this route why not make us type every single character three time and they confirm it with a yes/no dialog so we will be safe???

Are there any messages about this plugin in Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins or on the about:plugins page?
This icon at least let you see that plugins are present. If you set the default action to always activate then the plugin shouldn't be blocked.

  • How can I get the tabs back where they belong beneath the address bar , NOT on top ???

how can I get the tabs back where they belong beneath the address bar , NOT on top ???
they are on top, which puts the address bar at a variable position depending on how many tab rows exist - makes a moving target for navigating to across my dual 24 inch screens
I tried your "solution" using about:config and setting browser.tab.on.top or whatever to false, but that had NO effect
    Maybe because TabMixPlus is installed?
It does allow putting the tabs all the way at the bottom, but I don't like that either.
PLEASE, give me the address bar at TOP with tabs under that!!!
Also, I don't want FlashGot to be at the right of the address bar!!!

why should we use yet another add on to get the tabs back at the bottom? Big mistake.
Moreover, why make FF look more like Chrome? If I wanted Chrome, i would have installed it long time ago.
FF 29.0 is NOT an improvement.
    Nasty piece of mud.

  • Still no address bar. There is just a speed dial box where the address bar should. Navagation has a check in it

There is a check in the navigation box but there is still no address bar. The only thing that is where the address bar should be is speed dial icon. Above that is file, edit, history, etc, Below the speed dial icon there is most visited, getting started, latest headlines. below that are the tabs

Could you attach a screen shot of the "speed dial?"

In the address bar where type the address of the web site at the top. after entering the address i press enter key from the keyboard but it doesn't work there . Means the page is not navigating towards the address. Kindly solve the problem

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • Is there a way to move the tabs bar back where it was in the older version, meaning under the address bar?

When I downloaded Firefox 4 my tabs bar moved to the top and I hate it there. I like where it was in the previous version. Is there perchance a way to move it underneath the address bar again? Thanks in advance.

Right-click on a toolbar, then click on the "Tabs on Top" entry to de-select it.
