Where is the "Application Support Folder"?

OK, apparently, I did something stupid.
I had both Master Collection CS4 and CS5 on my MacBook Pro. I decided to uninstall CS4. I did some research and did it the way I think I was supposed to. First, I deactivated it. Then I used the CS4 Uninstaller. So far so good.
But, when I boot us CS5, I get the following message:
"One or more files in the Adobe Applicatoin Support folder, necessary for running Photoshop, are missing. Please run the Photoshop installer and re-install Photoshop."
Here's where the stupid part comes in. I am on the road and, naturally, do not have the disks to reinstall my Master Collection.
However, here's the less stupid part. I do have a complete clone of the drive BEFORE I did the uninstall.
So, where can I find the Application Support Folder and can I just drag it over?
Thanks.

PS. I'll be on the road for a month and really need this to work.

Anyone wishing to uninstall a previous version of Photoshop should do so BEFORE installing a newer version.  Always.
That being said, I advice against uninstalling previous versions.

Sorry I don't have specific remedial advice that meets your not-altogether-reasonable requirements (I cannot do a new clean install because I do not have my new disc's [sic])  in your situation.

  • Where SHOULD the application support folder be?

on My 2009 imac it is in the library folder. on my late 2008 MBP it is in the finder when I double click the hard drive, its just above "applications".

The Applications folder should be at the top level of the hard drive.
Not sure what you mean about the application folder being above "applications".

  • If I no longer have the old application Backup installed on my Mac (part of the .Mac subscription), do I still need the folder called Backup, that is in my Library in the Application Support folder?

If I no longer have the old application Backup installed on my Mac (for performing scheduled backups of data on the computer), do I need the folder called Backup, that is in my Hard Drive, to Library, to the Application Support folder?  (There is no Backup folder in my Home Folder, to Library, to the Application Support folder.)
Backup was part of the .Mac subscription I used to have, and I have not used it since I gave up being a .Mac subscriber many years ago.  In fact I recall Apple saying at one point that they no longer supported the Backup Application.  I assume the Backup folder is just remnants from when I used to have that application, however I could be wrong, and don't want to trash the folder unwisely.
As I looked through the various items in the Backup folder, nothing appears to be modified since 2007, which further confirms that this folder is from long ago when I used to have that application.  I did notice that the main Backup folder itself was the only thing that had a more current modification date on it.  That date coincides with the date that I installed Snow Leopard on my Mac earlier this year.  But I'm assuming that any operating system software installation will place a modification date on all the various folders of one's computer, with the date the new OS was installed.
Any insight will be appreciated!  Thank you!

Since it has always been very basic to backup your computer and all it's data, Apple provides no way for you to transfer music from your iPhone back to your computer.  As you know, you can re-download all iTunes purchases, but music that you ripped yourself you'll have to just re-rip again.
You can try and find 3rd party applications that might help you.  I'm sure you'll pay, however.
Let this be a very important lesson learned.
    Best.

  • Firefox profile is not showing up in the application support folder (under library) on my Mac.

Lost my bookmarks when I upgraded to new OSX Lion.. Can't find them and don't find firefox under the application support folder.

In Mac OS X v10.7, the $HOME/Library folder is a hidden folder.
Open Finder and use one of these:
    * Go > Go To Folder (Shift-Command-G) and in the dialog type: ~/Library
    * Open the "Go" menu and hold down the Option key to make the Library appear

I'm trying to make a photo book using iPhoto 09. I get an error message stating no themes are available. I've read online to look in my application support folder but there is not listing for iPhoto there at all. I don't know where to go from here. I've tried reinstalling the software.

  • Cannot find most of my applications in the Application Support folder

Whenever I open my Application Support folder, folders for apps I use regularly, like Minecraft, aren't there.  How do I find them?

I've tried spotlight search, but the folders still don't come up.
I have this problem with two specific programs: Minecraft and Audacity.

  • Where to find application support folder?

Just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion and I'm unable to locate my application support folder. I remember having to go to library then application support folder was in it but now its gone missing. Just need a step by step tutorial to locate it. Thanks,
                                                                                    Todd

NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
Once it's visible you'll be able to see the Applicaitons Support folder.
    Or in the Finder hold down the Option key and use the Go ➙ Library menu option;

  • HT204269 I can't find MobileSync/Backup/ in the Application Support folder in Library, I'm trying to find my phone back up from a few days ago before I bought my new iPhone, but when I searched on iTunes backup it has been replaced by the back up the day

I'm trying to find my phone back up from a few days ago before I bought my new iPhone, but when I searched on iTunes backup it has been replaced by the back up the day after that. Now all my data from my old phone is lost including some really important things. Also before that iTunes wouldn't let me sync my iPhone 5s data to my new iPhone 6 Plus, saying that the data is corrupt, that's where all this trouble started. I've been trying to back-up the old phones data so I can access it, but it's been replaced when ever I plug the new phone in, and no the 'sync automatically when connected' is not ticked. Please help me find my back ups.

Your iCoud account remains in iCloud even if your device is restored.  (In fact, you can't delete an iCloud account from iCloud, you can only choose to stop using it.)  If the device is restored, or it may no longer be signed into your iCloud account but your account will still exist in iCloud.

  • I go to the User/Tim../Library/ Application Support folder and it's empty ?

trying to download and install an application on OS 10.3.9 looks okay but I get message: "Can't write User/Tim../Library/Application Support/"specific App"./.license: No such file or directory"
I have used utilities and verified and repaired permissions multiple times. Any ideas about what might be going on here?

Well.. I have had some success.  I went to my 3rd partitioned hard drive 10.3.9 (HD-3) which was fairly empty and clean.  Checked the applications support folder there and all was cool, just like the 10.2.8 HD (HD-1).  I placed this econ-portraits & prints, application in the apps folder, used key code and checked things out - all worked fine got entry in the apps support folder for that HD-3. Then I went back and started up in the troubled 10.3.9 (HD-2)went and opened that same application from within the 3rd HD and low and behold, after entering the key code I finally got something to appear in that "B" hard drive's library apps support folder (empty till this point in time).  I don't know what is wrong but at least I'm functioning and can print some photos.  Like sausage, maybe I don't really need to know how it made it.  But there must be something weird in the electrons.  Maybe I should think about eliminating some HD's or getting a newer rig and just converting this into the digital juke box I plan for the future.  I might also attempt to reload 10.3.9 as a clean install but I worry about loosing all my iTune (6,000 songs)and iPhoto stuff.  Thank you all for your help, I went to macworld in Jan. and tried the apple techs but they were somewhat preoccupied with iPhones at the time and had no answers.  This is what the mac community is all about.  My question is not answered but I am happy to be using the app. again. Sorry the this short story & One more big Thank You to All..

Note that the user Library folder is hidden by default on Lion. You can get to it by holding down the Option key in the Finder's Go menu, use the Go To Folder command and paste in the full path, or use Terminal to make your ~/Library folder permanently visible.

  • Missing "Application Support" folder in home library (OS 10.6)

So about 6 months ago my old Macbook (from 2006, running OS 10.5.8) finally bit the dust for the last time with a fried logic board. However, this time the hard drive was perfectly functional, so I rescued it from the laptop before trading in the rest of the parts to get a discount on a new Macbook Pro (running OS 10.6.8).
Because the hard drive is still functional, I'm using a hard drive reader to transfer over all my files and information to the new laptop. Everything is there on the old drive, except one key component. I'm missing the "Application Support" folder from my home library (~/Library), which contains a lot of important settings for several applications I use (such as Firefox, an MSN messenger clone I use, etc). I've tried connecting the hard drive reader several times, and each time that folder is missing when I open up the home folder Library.
This folder was clearly there and functioning when the hard drive was still in my old computer. So my question is, where did it go? Is there any way of accessing it with the hard drive reader? Is it gone because of some kind of corruption, and why is it just that folder in particular that's missing? Any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated, since the missing settings contained information that will be very difficult, if not impossible to replace.
    Thanks!

Disk Utility will do a verify/repair of an external disk. Though the chances of this being disk corruption is imo slim. For only one subfolder of of one folder to get clobbered due to a hardware failure while possible is extremely remote.
Try the Disk Utility repair function if the directory is collbered that should recover it (or at least let you know that there is an issue with the drive).
    good luck

  • Where is the user library folder

Where did Apple put the users' "Library" folders in Lion?! If they no longer exist, where should I go to find the user's "Application Support" folder (which I always used to find in the user's "Library"). Am I missing something? Am I blind? I never used to have this trouble. I need to change the default file for a program and that file resides in the "Application Support" folder within the user's "Library" folder (at least, it always used to reside there!)
I can't seem to find anything about this in the help files that come with my computer.

    To Find Library folder
    In Finder...
    Press and hold Option key
Click Go on the menu bar
    Choose Library

  • Address book disappear, Application Support folder can not be opened

My address book disappear from my MacPro, I know it is in the User Library-Application Support folder, but when I try to open that folder, it has a red tag on the folder and it said I have no Authority to open that folder, I am the only one using this machine, never have this problem.  And it will not allow me to restore the address book from Time Machine back to this folder.  What's wrong? I think I need to figure out why it wont let me open the Application Support folder, could anyone help? thanks.
One Symptom:  when I run the address book App, and try to import  address file, the Menu bar- File-the Import dialog was greyed-out and can not be used.

Could you please check the Sharing &permissions of these two folders (command +I). Check to see if you have "Read&Write access to these folders. It should be your user name with read&write privileges.
You will have to open the lock on the bottom right and it will request the admin password. Should your name not be there, select it by clicking on the plus sign on the bottom right and selecting your user name. Select Read&Write privilege and under the gear wheel beside the plus and minus signs,Make sure you apply to enclosed items.
It sounds like you somehow got them buggered. Rebuilding the permission table should of cleared up the problem. This could be a case of booting with your install DVD and rebuilding permissions from there.
                                                            Food for thought.
Next time you even think of modifying anything in you user library, Duplicate the whole folder and then you have a reference to go by. Just make sure that it is deleted after you are finished. This should be a standard step when troubleshooting. Changing something.....make a copy.

  • Application Support Folder

Is it all right to delete items from the Application Support Folder if I've already deleted the application?

    Yes.
For the most part, just drag the application to the trash. Some applications come with uninstallers under "options" on the installer.
The reason for this is that in Mac OS X most associated files are kept in the application package itself. If you choose any app then "control-click" on it, you can choose "Show package contents" from the contextual menu and you will see all the associated items.
You can also do a Finder or Spotlight search for any other items but they will probably only be prefs which will do no harm and don't take up much room.
These are ususally just plist files in Users/yourname/Library/Preferences . *Also some apps will install files in Users/yourname/Library/Application Support.*
Note: Some apps may also put a file in /Library/Startup Items or SystemPreferences >> Accounts >> Login items. (So, it worth a look here too)
