Where is the Ask to Buy option in Family Sharing?

Where is the Ask to Buy option for members in my Family Sharing?  I only see the Parent/Guardian option and the Allow member to see your Location option.  The articles I found indicate it should be located with the others.  Please help.

  • Icloud password loop when declining an ask to buy purchase using family sharing

My daughter asked to buy an app using family sharing. I received the notification on my phone and when I hit decline, it asks for my icloud password. When entered, it asks continuously and will not finalize declining the purchase. Same process on my wife's phone. We were able to approve a purchase, just not decline one.
    Help please.
I am using a 4s, my daughter and wife both have 5cs. All running iOS8 with family sharing set up.

    Thank you Ms. SJ!!!!
I was having this problem with my youngest daughters account.  Your post about establishing the payment history apart from family sharing made a lot of sense.  My oldest daughter has had an account for some time that she had been adding iTunes gift cards to, so her account was "established" before it was added to our family sharing group.  I had no trouble approving her purchases.
I had set up an account for my youngest daughter a long time ago, but used it only for email and iMessage on her iPod.  My ID was used for purchases on the device.  After Family sharing was launched and she got an iPad for Christmas, I decided to set up her ID as the primary account on her new iPad and added her to family sharing.
The first problem I ran into with Family Sharing was enabling the "Ask to Buy" function because since I set up accounts for my daughters a long time ago they were both showing as adults.  I learned from another post that the fix for this was to change their birthdates to January 1, 2001.  I did this and it has them listed as Age 14 on their family sharing profiles - fine.
I then ran into the same problem with Ask to Buy that David Wilkie described above.  My fix was a little different from yours and less intensive.
Removed my youngest daughter from family sharing
Purchased an app using her account alone (with an iTunes gift card attached) to establish a purchase history.
I then re-added her to our family sharing group.
I had her purchase a song using "Ask to Buy" and it worked as expected.
Thanks for going through the legwork with support to find this fix and share it.  I hope my experience can be helpful as well.

  • Ask to buy functionality with family sharing.

I have set up all the family devices with the kids iTunes accounts, as well as my wife and I having our accounts.  All are linked in family sharing. The children have their accounts set up for ask to buy.
The problem, they are not presented with the popup to select ask to buy, they are presented with the iTunes login as though they are me.
I can not seem to find any other reports of this or what possible steps to make to correct it.
    Thank you
    Dave

My guess is that they are not legged in under their own Apple ID, but instead as yours. In my case we had to sign out on the kid's phone, where we were signed as [email protected], and sign back into the itunes store as [email protected]

  • HT201089 Where does the ask to buy notification go?

When my son requests to get an app, I get the notice on my phone, but I'm not always able to get right to it, and after half a minute or so, the notice goes off my screen.  Where does it go?  Where can I find it?  Can I still bring it up later to approve?

My notifications are literally disappearing! I dont get to the immediate notification and then when I go to my notifications page they are NOT there. My daughter is waiting on several requests but they are GONE, BABY, GONE!!! Why??

  • What is the best way of setting up Family Sharing?

I just bought my son an iPad Mini and I am trying to decide on what is the best way of setting it up for him. The one thing I do know is that I do NOT want all the content that is my iPhone 6 to pop up on his iPad Mini. I want his iPad to be used for his games and educational stuff and his own music. I don't mind setting up a family photo album and share photos with the family. So is the Family Sharing option the best way of doing this based on what I just mentioned? Do I set him up with his own Apple ID? If so will everything still be based off my account so he won't have to create his own iTunes Library?
I always use iTunes gift cards to purchase music and content. Will I be able to continue to use them even if I want to put some new content on his iPad and not my iPhone? Do I enter in his Apple ID info. Can you restrict certain family members to just certain things for example you only want to share photos with one person whereas you might want to share your music with another family member?
Any suggestions on the best way of setting this up would great!
    Thanks!

    Hi DVX100Shooter,
Congratulations on getting your son a new iPad, I am sure he will enjoy it.
Family Sharing is one way of managing both purchases and content between members of a related group of people. Each member must have their own Apple ID. You can choose what music you wish to share with the family from your own account. See this article -
OS X Yosemite: Share purchases with your family
In particular the section titled Hide a purchase from other family members
The music library on your son's iPad is separate from yours, but under Family Sharing you agree to pay for all purchases made through the iTunes store. If you wish to control what is purchased you can set up the Ask to Buy option for any family member under adult age in your location. See this article for details -
Request and make purchases with Ask to Buy - Apple Support
Gift cards may not be used for billing of purchases under family sharing, with the exception that a family member may use gift cards to purchase their own content. See this article for information about Family Sharing billing policies -
Family purchases and payments - Apple Support
The shared family photo album is available to all family members.

  • HT201089 No ask to buy option

No ask to buy option. I set up my son and he is automatically an adult.
A calendar I had previously created called family has been shared with him. I can't remove the calendar, unshare it or delete it. Tried removing him from family share and re-addign him, no luck.
All devices running latest OS / iOS.

    Hi Heelstone,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are having a couple of issues with Family Sharing not working the way you would expect. As far as your son being an adult, it sounds like his Apple ID may have been created before starting Family Sharing. The process to create an Apple ID for a child happens in the iCloud settings as described by the article below.
Family Sharing and Apple IDs for kids - Apple Support
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 8
Use these steps to create an Apple ID and add the child to your family group:
Go to Settings > iCloud > Family, and tap "Create an Apple ID for a child."
Enter your child's birthday and tap Next. The birthday for a child's account can't be changed after the account is created. Be sure to enter the correct date.
Review the Parent Privacy Disclosure and tap Agree.
Enter the security code for your credit card and tap Next. If you don't have a credit card on file, you'll need to add one.
Enter your child's name, tap Next, then create their Apple ID ([email protected]) and tap Next.
Follow the onscreen instructions to set a password, choose security questions, and set up your child's account. Choose passwords and security questions that you both can remember.
When a Family Sharing group is created, it automatically creates a shared family calendar.
    Family Sharing - Apple Support
Now it’s easy to be one of those organized families.
Family Sharing creates a family calendar where everyone can view, add, or change events and appointments, and they can also get an alert when something changes. And anyone can use the Reminders app to send time or location reminders to the family. So when it’s picture day, pizza night, or just a trip to the beach, everyone’s in the know.
    Cheers,
    Joe

  • Where is the plug in tab option in the upper menu bar when acrobat pro is installed on a mac

where is the plug in tab option in the upper menu bar when acrobat pro is installed on a mac

When Acrobat is installed first, it does not have a Plug-ins menu. When you buy extra plug-ins for Acrobat, some plug-ins will add a Plug-ins menu. Some won't - some will add other menus, or buttons, or something else.
    So
    1. Make sure you have purchased the Mac plug-in(s) you need.
    2. Make sure they are installed.
    3. Make sure they are compatible with your version of Acrobat; the Mac is much less forgiving about versions, you need to check carefully.
    4. If the plug-in is compatible and installed perhaps it doesn't add a plug-ins menu.

  • Where is the "do not restore" option?

Where is the "do not restore" option? I read a review somewhere that said it actually works in ML - but where is it? I can't find it in System Prefs.

It's disguised as "Close windows when quitting an application" on the General tab of System Preferences.

  • Where is the "Manage Pre-Orders" option?

Where is the "Manage Pre-Orders" option?

OK, so only if you have Pre-Orders you will see the option. I thought I have some but I guess I don't.
    Thanks.

  • HT201089 Why as the organizer am i not receiving the ask to buy requests

I am the organizer and i am not receiving the ask to buy requests. I removed my wife as a parent to see if that was the problem but she is still receiving the request and i am not. what do i do?

I also had problems with Ask to Buy when I first set-up family sharing . My issue was that the child devices they were being asked to put in the verification code of the credit card linked to the organiser's appleID before the request was sent. This made no sense - why would the child device need that?!
I checked that each device was set to the right account for icloud and itunes/app store, logged in and out etc but nothing seemed to work.
Eventually we tried simply entering the CCV on the child device and found that everything worked perfectly after this.
Hope this helps others with similar problem. Once set-up and working it is great.

  • Where is the make a suggestion option on the suggestions page?

Where is the make a suggestion option on the suggestions page. https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=suggest. There is an "as a question" option but no "make a suggestion" option. Page as a whole is near-incomprehensible.

If you'd read the post "Purpose and best practices of this forum" https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/4605de7b-b370-439e-92a2-948141e08861/purpose-and-best-practices-of-this-forum?forum=suggest which
is pinned to the top of the forum you'd see that it's explained under best practices :
"Use Questions and not Discussion thread types, this will allow us to “close” suggestions once they are no longer relevant or have been addressed."
So no, there's no "make a suggestion" option, but then since I imagine that would require them to add an entire new type of post to the entire forums it's somewhat overkill, so instead you can simply use the question option which can be turned
    to the same purpose.

  • Where's The Convert ID3 Tag option in iTunes 11?

What happened to the convert ID3 tag option in iTunes 11? It no longer appears when I right-click on a song.
Because iTunes still saves the ID3 tags in imported MP3's as v2.2, I have to convert the tags to v2.3 so that the MP3 information is recognized by my car radio.

Just to clarify for anyone else still having troubles.
Convert ID3 Tags... is still in iTunes 11, but it only shows up when you right-click on audio tracks while in Song or List View.
    To recap:
You MUST be in List or Song View.
You can NOT be in Grid, Artist List, or Album View.
Also, please remember that ID3 Tags are only for MP3/MPEG audio files, and NOT MP4/AAC/Apple Lossless audio files.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I approve an 'ask to buy' on a family share

How do I find my 'notifications' to approve an 'Ask to buy' from my daughter's profile?

    Hello Shaynn,
If you are the organizer of the Family Share you should see the Ask to Buy request in the Notification Center.
Request and make purchases with Ask to Buy - Apple Support
    Make or decline a purchase
If you're the organizer, you can use these steps to make or decline the purchase from your iOS device with iOS 8 or Mac with OS X Yosemite:
Open the notification to see the item that your family member wants to get. (See your notifications on your Mac or iOS device.)
    Approve or decline the purchase.
If you approve, you need to sign in with your Apple ID and password to make the purchase.
After it's purchased, the item is added to the family member’s account and shared with the rest of the family group. If a family member downloads a previous purchase again, downloads a shared purchase, installs an update, or uses a redemption code in the store, the organizer won't get a notification.
If the organizer doesn't make the purchase or decline the request, it will be deleted after 24 hours, and the child will need to make the request again.
So if you are on your iPhone…
You can access Notification Center from any screen, including the Lock screen. Just swipe down from the top of the screen.

  • Additional payment options for Family Sharing I wish....

I was not aware that each purchase would be billed to my credit card regardless of my iTunes balance. I knew I would be paying for all purchases, but not being able to use my account balance to pay it is extremely annoying. Prior to Family Sharing being available all their devices were under my id. So any gift cards they received were redeemed under my account. Now I have their money and can't use it to buy their things.
My mistake for not following every link on the Family Sharing info page, but I read that I would be charged for purchases. I thought it would be the same way as any purchase I made (balance, then credit card).....
    I wish:
There should be an option for:
    1) those who have a credit card be able to use it if they aren't on the "ask to buy" restriction. This includes both adults and other teens.
    2) as the Organizer--give me a choice on how I want to pay for the purchases. If i want to use my own balance, I should be allowed to.
    3) if this is how it's going to stay, then I should have the option as the organizer to transfer my balance to individual family sharing members as I see fit. Or allow me to 'gift' them the balance. Right now you can't use iTunes balance to buy a 'gift'.

    tminutes wrote:
I understand that now...but the their gift cards had been redeemed to my account prior to having family sharing. So basically, for now, I will have to decline any of their requests and then purchase them through my own. They can then download them on their device.  I just wish there were alternatives...Thank you.
    Tminutes,
Based on posts in this Forum, other Family Organizers have found themselves in that same dilemma.  If you would like to make the "additional payment options" suggestion directly to Apple, you can do so at the iTunes Feedback page:
