Where is the audio in socket?

I want to plug in a mic but Apple Help doesn't help. Does it go in the second left socket with the vaguely Dolbyish symbol?

The port with the "vaguely Dolbyish symbol" is indeed the mic input, beside the headphone socket as you can see here:

  • Photoshop CC video: Where is the audio flyout menu? I want to set the audio level of a clip but when I click the little triangle the flyout only offers Motion options, no audio.

I created a video clip by ripping from a (non-protected) DVD & brought it into Photoshop CC for editing. I want the audio to fade in & out but cannot find any audio controls!
The info I've found online says to click the little triangle at the right end of the clip & I should get the audio flyout menu, but all I get is a menu with "Motion" options.
Please help!! Where are the audio options I see on the tutorials?
    Thanks ...

The audio was indeed in there; I could hear it! But I found the fix:
Some Googling revealed that the timeline video sprites should appear *blue*, not purple as in my screenshot. I'm not sure how that happened, but I scrapped the project & restarted from scratch - and though I can't say what I did differently, this time the video sprite in the timeline was blue, and the audio flyout was there! So it's all good, thanks!

  • Where is the audio track in a dvdproj file?

I have a number of old iDVD projects stored on hard disc that I need to convert to a useable format.  I've been able to find the MPEG compressed video files by right-clicking on the .dvdproj bundle and opening the Contents/Resources/MPEG.nobackup folder, but the files have no audio track.  Where is the audio track stored?

Unless you've created an archive iDVD project file the audio is only linked to the project from wherever you kept the files when creating the project.

  • Where are the audio files in an iPad mini?

    Hi.
Where are the audio files in an iPad mini? (iTunes, Garage band...)

    Thanks Jonathan.
To be more specific. After you record an audio file with Garageband on the iPad mini where is it stored, to be copied, transfired?

  • I can't hear the narration track over the audio, what do I do? And where is the "audio mixer"?

Just downloaded Premiere Elements 12 and lost my favorite audio music (wish I could bring it over from 11 somehow), so I drug a new clip in the audio track and now I can't hear my narration track. Also, can you pull up projects made in 11 with Premiere 12? Should I delete 11 off my computer? Also, where is the audio mixer?

The Audio Mixer is under the Tools menu in Expert view or under the Tools drop-down menu at the top of the interface.

  • Where's the audio?

Where does the audio file go when a movie gets exported from FCP to LiveType? I mean, it gives that option, but I have never gotten it.
    Any thoughts.
    Carlos

I just discovered this myself tonight.... I can't for the frickin' life of me understand why they would ever do this. I've read online in several places that others are using Motion to sync-to-sound.... too many hoops in my opinion. I can't begin to express just how painful this truly is. < </div>
Most of us thought the lack of audio support was odd, too, until we thought about it. Make your titles as separate items and synch them to your video in FCP. It's easy, it's just not as clean as you think it should be.

  • Where are the audio files located?

You know how when your video source is missing, it shows that ! with a yellow triangle around it? Then, when you hover over the !, it shows you where iMovie expected to find the video, and then you can just move the video there and it's fixed. But for audio, it doesn't show you where it is supposed to be located when you hover over the ! in the audio file (music green bar).
So, where are the music files supposed to be located so that it can find them?
    Thanks!

To the best of my knowledge, iMovie simply links to the music file from wherever it is located in your system. That could be the iTunes Library, your Desktop, an external drive, or other places. So if you move the music to a different location, I assume that iMovie will lose track of it. iMovie doesn't actually import the music to the project - it's just referencing it (as far as I'm aware).
If you know the name of the track (or tracks, or artists), try doing a search both within iTunes and on your hard drive using Spotlight. If found, the best solution is probably to drag it again into your project, then do the necessary edits if applicable.
Note that, in iMovie the music tracks are identified by song name - it's shown at the beginning of the green audio bar. So the songs shouldn't be too difficult to track down. It's just a pain having to re-instate them.

  • Where is the audio waveform please?

I dont see the wave form and thus cannot expand it for some finer editing.
I thought we just drag the track down and the track expanded?
    thanks anyone

    Thanks Ann Bens,
I dont get that spread handle below the audio track.

  • Where is the audio?

I added some audio clips into specific slides (not soundtrack) but now I want to know what short clip files I added but I can't see anywhere to get that info... Are the audio clips stored somewhere that I can see them... I don't see them named in the inspector quicktime section...
    thanks

QT Player can only play M1A audio in MPEG files.
MPEG Streamclip can play MPEGs with M1A, PCM and AC3 audio and it can also convert the MPEG's audio from AC3 to M1A or PCM, for example.

  • Premiere pro 2.0: where is the audio track?

    Hello,
I just uninstalled Premiere Pro CS4, because my processor was too bad for it, and installed the testversion of Premiere Pro 2.0.
This seemed to work fine, but when I imported a normal .avi file (it was a mpg converted to avi), I noticed that the audio track was completely missing What could I have done wrong? (This is the problem with every avi-file I import, the sound works on wmp and i should have the right codecs for it, too, I have the k-lite codec pack. The audio track is simply not visible, you wouldn't guess that there is one, if you didn't know it).
    Please help me

I agree completely with John T. That was why I specifically asked about DivX/Xvid. It is a delivery-only format for streaming Video, and is good for that purpose. It is NOT meant to be edited, and is very highly compressed. Conversion will get you what you need and let you edit, but the quality hit has taken place, and you can never recover that.
When you convert, you want DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio. Do not choose anything else for SD footage.
As for the CFA and PEK files, this is part of Importing an AV file w/ Audio into PrPro. It seldom takes very long to complete, if one is working with DV-AVI Type II files to begin with. Other formats/CODEC's, like WMV's, can take much longer. What often happens is that one Imports the Assets, and they never see the little progress bar, and start editing. Many workstations can do this OK, so long as a Conforming Asset is not used, before it's ready, but often trying to edit, while the process is ongoing, will result in a crash, or a partially Conformed Audio file. That is why I mentioned that aspect first.
Then I kept focusing on your description "AVI." For me, that means DV-AVI Type II, but I realized that it was just as likely that you had chosen another CODEC, in an AVI "wrapper."
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - if you have the original footage, I would just convert that to DV-AVI Type II, and leave the Xvid/DivX for streaming delivery ONLY. If you convert your DivX, you will loose a bit more quality, and since DivX has sucked the quality out already, you do not want to do that.

  • Where is the audio in TV / Video Cards???

    Hello boyz!
I am developing a little framework over jmf to make life easier to java developers who want to use media in their apps.
Now i am developing a Capturer class that is configured with an audio and video device and their capture formats.
To a webcam and the soundcard works fine. I get a datasource from each device, if i have both, i make a merged datasource...
But how works a videocard or tvcard? In the config of my class the video_device and audio_device will be the same, but later, how works the audio? Will i get a only datasource from the device with 2 streams? or how?
    Thanks in advance!
    jcpa1

As for TV capture sound, should be same principle as your webcam or soundcard. In my machine i have a webcam (video_device), a soundcard(audio_device) and a microphone in the webcam.
For the audio, capturemanager only shows: javasound and directsound (i suppose because i am in windows) and both are only for the soundcard, i cant select the microphone of the webcam :-(
So i would like hear the experience of a user who has a tv or video card.
How much easier can jmf get? if you know java, your sure be easily able to pick up jmf.To domine jmf you need to know about media formats, events, concurrency, and networking (if you want to send/receive) and later fight against the poor documentation and bugs of jmf.
So, i suppose if you only need to incorpore simple media tasks in your app you wont to study all previous topics.
    Greetings.

  • Headphone jack to mini jack to RCA to tv....where is the audio?

i have a minijack cable plugged into my computer and it converts to RCA red and white, and i have that plugged into my TV.....and i'm not hearing audio....what's the deal?

In answer to your last question about the audio disappearing when the yellow cable is unplugged, this is common with many TV's. The separate inputs are switched "on and off" by the video connection--that is, if there's no video signal, it doesn't even "look" for an audio signal. That's normal, don't worry about it.
As for having no sound from the MBP, I experienced this as well--until I realized that the audio is there, it's just extremely soft! I had to turn up my MBP volume to the highest, then I had to turn my TV volume up very high and then I could hear the audio from the MBP.
For example, my TV volume level is a number from 0 (off) to 100 (loudest). For regular TV, I usually run the volume around 25. When I plug a DVD player in, I have to run the volume around 45 to get the same volume as the TV signal. When I plug in the MBP, I have to run the volume at 95 to get the same level as the others.
    Crazy!

  • Just bought a MacBook 11" Running Lion, Where did the Audio Input Selector go?

    Hello,
I'm a digital performance artist, and I'm preparing a new 11" MacBook Air for use as my main computer in the desert at this year's BurningMan. My software must use the built in line input to process an audio signal. On my 13" MacBook running Snow Leopard, in the audio preferences, I am able to choose to "use the 1/8" audio jack for:" input or output. On the new 11" MacBook Running Lion, I do not have that featurte yet the Audio input is mentioned in the documentation I read before acquiring it. How do I enable the audio input? If it is a Lion issue, is it possible to downgrade to Snow Leopard until Audio Line In is supported?
Any help would be great. I'm looking for something like "defaults write com.apple.xxx.AudoInputSelector -bool YES"
    Thanks!
    Sid

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Free upgrades to Mountain Lion already ended, so now you have to pay to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion. I recommend you to return the MacBook Pro and get another one with Mountain Lion if you want. Another option is to wait until Apple launches Mavericks and upgrade to that version

  • Where did the audio go?

I'm new to Mac. I created my project in Final Cut Pro 5 using 3 Quicktime files. I exported from FCP5 to Quicktime Movie and everything looks great. When I set up Compressor 2, imported my movie to it and used the conversion to MPEG-2 150 minutes, the end result was great video and no audio. I checked the process again and made sure the audio compression components were included and did it again. Successful compression, no audio. The Quicktime Movie still plays great. I need to get this to DVD and soon. Please help!!

I don't what to tell you, but I would suggest.
Going back to FCP and exporting again just the audio as aiff 48/16.
Drop that into Compressor and elect the Dolby 2 preset.
