Where is the Basic photo resize in iPhoto feature

Recently, I found a feature that let me resize photos in Iphoto to various preset sizes and easially export them to my desktop or wherever.  The sizes were real baisc, 2 x3  4 x 6  8 x 10 etc but using the custom feature I could resize them perfectly for web photo requirements on Fiverr.
It seemed the setting was on the right margin in Iphoto to resize the images and I did about 8 of them.  ...Now I cannot find that feature-
Can anyone help me locate it in Iphoto?
Many thanks-

In the Edit mode is the option to crop the photos to the various size ratios:

  • Where's the Basic Photos App?

So, I deleted the basic "Photos" app from my iPhone and iPad, and now I want it back. Unfortunately, it's not in the App Store. You know the one: It's got the yellow sunflower icon, and it now includes Photo Stream. Any thoughts on how I can get the app back? It no longer exists in my device libraries, nor can I find it, well, anywhere. Thanks!

Built-in apps cannot be deleted, and thus, are not available in the App Store. Try going to Settings, then General, then Reset, then proceed to 'Reset Home Screen Layout.'

  • What and Where is the basic photo format and size info????

I am new at this but an experienced graphic designer.
I work in print often so I take high resolution images. Using still photos I want to make movies with titles and effects, music that are emailable and facebook friendly. Do I need to down size photos before importing them to IPhoto. My project will have around 30 photos.
Is there a place I can go to get this basic info, it was not covered on Apple tutorial.
Do you think any of the manuals that we have to purchase will discuss this issue? Gripe, why does mac give you a program without a manual!!!
So the question is, what is the recommended resolution and format for photos to import to Iphoto or Imovie and be able to have a good quality movie.

the Apple intended workflow is, that stills are managed in iPhoto, and iMovie 'picks up' from there.
this workflows guarantees to some extend a compatibility to iMovie.
iM will not accept 'raws' or CMYK.psd - jpeg, pic, tiff preferred.
there's a flaw, how iM handles portrait-sized pic.. if you want to show them full-sized (=black bars l/r), you have to add those in any pic-processor to make the pic landscape BEFORE import to iM09..
the maximum res of a video is 1920x1080 .. adding any higher res has no effect. only needed, as Kirk allready told you, if you like to use the Ken Burns effect.
for uploading to YT choose HD/1280x720 as size.. adds some extra grain of quality.. made a demo of some random pics as a test, what's possible with iM/YT.
mailing video...? I prefer to upload to YT, make it private, send invitation to mail adress.. for mailing, you would have to compress sooooo much.. nothing left.

  • HT3986 Where are the individual files located in iphoto

Where are the individual files located in iphoto, thanks for your help

They are all stored in the iPhoto Library.  You would need to examine its contents to see them separately (outside of iPhoto).

I have Windows 7, Microsoft Outlook and PSE 13. I have used the "Share photos as embedded images" feature frequently, but today when I went to use it, it wasn't there, only the option to send email with files attached. How do I get back the ability to send emails with photos embedded. I like adding the frames and backgrounds and I think it's easier for recipients to look at the photos. Thanks for any suggestions of things to try.

I had a similar problem in that my wife's iphone 5 could not send pics with imessage.  Had to set the settings to default to SMS or whatever.  After laboring many hours on the web I coincidentally was on the phone with the internet people to question my internet speed.  They changed the router channel, which is something that I am capable of doing myself.  After that, the pics go over imessage.  My own Iphone didn't have the problem.  We are both latest IOS 7.0.6.

Where is the best place for suggesting/requesting features?
If something like this already exists, please let me know.
I often wish when I select a word to right click and choose dictionary to to find out the meaning of the word. Currently I have to copy, go to a dictionary web page, paste and search. And I spent a lot of time for that. I'm not that technically oriented to suggest how this can be achieved but just as an idea, may be Mozilla can partner with dictionary web sites by making a plug ins or include a dictionary with Firefox itself

I am sure there are Extensions that do this.

  • So where are the real photos that are used between iPhoto and iMovie?

    OK....this is getting ridiculous...
So where the heck does iMovie and iPhoto really store and pull the images from cause this makes no sense...
I will try and make this is a shorten version of a long story...Here is what I am dealing with...
G5 with iLife 06 and all updates...
Powerbook Pro with iLife 06 and all updates...
Spent five days editing project on my Macbook Pro --> emptied trash and bye bye project...Started over on my G5 since none of my clips are editable now (Thanks Apple! I needed that)
I had previously spent a week editing over 200 photos in Photoshop on my Macbook...This included color correction and dust and scratches as well as some retouching...So I transferred all Photos onto my G5 from my Macbook Pro and imported into Library...New discovery...Photos look like crap now...Like they were never cleaned up at all...Interesting...
So I start redoing some of these retouches and save them...Of course the changes are not reflected in iPhoto or iMovie since it doesn't really use the originals again after the initial import...Or does it?
So now here is another baffling thing to me...I do red eye correction to some photos and it is an immeditate change that can be seen in iMovie when importing...But if I rotate the pictures, no...sorry that only seems to take effect after I rotate the original in Photoshop and then reimport into my iPhoto library and delete the duplicates that have now gotten created in the process...
Can someone help me understand what is going on...This added work is giving me a headache...Where and how does iPhoto store and use the images? Why if i rotate a photo it doesn't take effect in iPhoto/iMovie unless I completely reimport, but I can remove red eye instantly...And what has happened to all the changes I made to the existing photos to remove the dust and scratches originally?

All images must be in a project. You can place then in as many albums as you wish- even albums outside the project where they reside- but they will remain in the project.
Move the images to the album. Then drag them over the project where the album resides and they will be moved to that projects. If you drag them to an album and not the project, they will remain in the original project.
Kinda hard to wrap your head around at first, but you'll see that it makes perfect sense as you progress with the application.

  • Where is the SHARE Menu located in iPhoto?

Hello. In the Apple procedures for backing up photos, they indicate the following:Copy your photo library to a CD or DVD
    1. Select your Library, roll, album, or individual photos you want to burn to a disc.
    2. Click the Share menu, and choose Burn.
    3. Insert a blank CD or DVD into your drive.
    4. Name your disc.
    5. Click the Burn button in the Burn Disc window.
Can someone advise me where the SHARE MENU is? I have tried to find it, but no luck. Is it in the Toolbar or is it somewhere on the iPhoto page itself? Thanks.

    ws,
Which one would you suggest as a trade-off for economy, ease of use and reliability?>>>
I'll add my vote here for PhotoShop Elements, since I do use it. It's very flexible: easy for beginners, yet powerful for more advanced use. I've had every version from PSE 1 up to 4, and it's been worth every penny each time.
For your second question, I have a different approach. iPhoto and PSE are different types of applications, with different strengths, which work very well in tandem as 2 parts of a workflow. I use iPhoto to organize my photos. The more I play with its features the more I like it. Now that I have added keywords to all my photos, I can use Smart Albums or the keyword tool to pull up any set of photos I could imagine almost instantly. As an image editor, however, iPhoto is quite limited. Fine for a quick crop or red-eye fix, but that's about it.
For image editing I use PSE 4. I set in up in iPhoto's preferences as my external editor. Double-click in iPhoto to open the image in PSE. Edit, click Save, and the edited version is automatically saved back into iPhoto. Simple.
PSE 4 comes with Adobe Bridge, written for PC users who don't have the benefit of iPhoto. I don't know about the version of Bridge that comes with Photoshop CS2, but the version I have is a highly crippled version compared to Bridge on a PC. On a PC you create catalogs, version sets, tags, etc. to organize your photos and be able to search them (like with iPhoto). But the Mac version is lacking all of these features. It is simply a file browser that lets you open files from your own folders and add metadate. You can search by that metadata, I suppose. Anyway, there is no benefit to transferring your files to Bridge whatsoever. It does not store your files for you. You'd lose all the functionalities of iPhoto, and gain only a crippled PC app. BTW, I tried using Bridge when I first got it with PSE 4. It just doesn't work well for photos inside the iPhoto library, because accessing them from Bridge is the same as accessing them through the Finder (a no-no). I am much happier with my iPhoto to PSE workflow. I use only Bridge to browse and access images that I keep outside of iPhoto, like scrapbook projects.
System requirements for PSE 4: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopelmac/systemreqs.html indicate OS X (10.3) or higher. PSE 3.0 works with 10.2.8 or 10.3. Version 3 does not come with Bridge; it has a file browser built in, which you can ignore if you are using iPhoto. You can find it for $35 on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Photoshop-Elements-3-0-Mac/dp/B0002UDQAO/sr=1-4/qid= 1172615161/ref=sr14/103-9537804-8479040?ie=UTF8&s=software

  • Where's the money (photos)?

I've imported into the Aperture library, expecting to find somewhere in there an Originals folder as in iPhoto. No such find.
So where are the originals stored by Aperture when you use the managed photos option?

This depends on what option you used when importing photos. Aperture actually has 3 options when importing photos:
    1) store files in the aperture library (managed images)
    2) store files in their current location (referenced images)
    3) store files in "pictures"
If you use option 3 these photos won't be in their original location or the aperture library. For example, my photos are in $HOME/pictures/year/month/ that was auto-generated by aperture when I chose option 3 and specified that the photos should be organized by year/month.
I am assuming that aperture treats option 3 as a referenced image/master as well.

  • Where is the Apple Photos library to import into LR6 - it's seemingly vanished...

On my Mac, in import sources on LR6, there is no Photos option to select.  I had Aperture, then imported this library into Photos a few week back.  Hated Photos and now wish to use LR6.  But no Photos library to be found to import...Any ideas?

Lightroom doesn't currently support importing from Apple Photos library. Therefore, the only way I know to get to the files in the Photos Library is to do so manually.
First you'll need to select the Apple 'Photo Library' in your 'Pictures' folder then right click to open the context menu. On context menu you'll see an item named 'Show Packages Contents'. Click on this to open the Photos Library. In the Photos Library you'll find a 10 or so folders, one of which should be named 'Masters'. Copy this folder to the Pictures folder folder. This is where it can get messy. Apple stores your files in dozens, if not hundreds, of Hex numerically named folders. If you want all of the photos to be in their correctly named album etc then your out of luck. The best you can do is import the contents of this copy of the Masters folder into Lightroom using normal import procedure (make sure 'Include Subfolders' is checked in top left corner of import window). You can rename the Apple folders from Lightroom Folder panel.

  • The new Photos compared to iPhoto is not user friendly

I have used iPhoto Book functionality to publish a book and it was very intuitive and user friendly. In 1-day I had the 45 pages book done.
But now with the Photos user interface, I have spent a whole day trying to figure out how it works.
For example it does not let you move a picture to another part of the page. You have to remove it and place it again. By removing it you have to locate it again in the list of unused pictures. The Unused pictures are place in one row in the bottom and you have to scroll back and forth to find the pictures.
In iPhoto, you could browse easily inside each theme to choose the most suitable for the purpose. Now this is not possible or at least I did not find out how.
I read that with Photos, I can see my pictures across all of my devises. The question is how? The help function does not explain it. Do I have to move them in iCloud? When I tried it tells me that I have to buy extra space and nothing more!
Why did Apple how to change something that was stable and was working all fine? Photos went down twice in 1 day's work. Now it looks more like a "windows" functionality application....

The second rule of computers:  never upgrade software in the middle of a project.
That being said, if you had iPhoto 9.6.1 prior to upgrading to 10.10.3 you can still open the iPHoto Library with it and complete your book.  The iPhoto app will still be in the Applications folder.
If you had an earlier version of iPhoto try the steps listed in this post by Terence Devlin for obtaining iPhoto 9.6.1 from the App Store:

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • HT204655 Can you use the new photos library for iPhoto to save space

I want to use the same library for photos and iPhoto because that way it will use a fraction of the space. Is that possible.

When you open the iPhoto library with Photos for the first time it will convert it to a Photos library.  However, there is not a duplication of files or lost space on the HD. This is because the Photos library uses hard links to the original files in the iPhoto Library thus not duplicating files or taking up more space on the HD even though it may see so in the Finder.
I suggest you keep the iPhoto application and library until you're sure the Photos app and library will suit your needs.  Photos is missing many features that iPhoto has which many of rely on heavily.  You may find that Photos isn't for you right now and you want to continue using iPhoto until those missing features are restored.

  • Where is the basic driver for C4580 under Windows 7 64-bit?

I've upgraded my PC and I'm installing a fresh copy of Windows 7 64-bit. My printer is the HP Photosmart C4580. In the support section of the HP support site, only the full software is available for download -  PS_AIO_04_C4500_USW_Full_Win_WW_130_140.exe. There is a tempting message saying the basic driver is "available as a separate download named HP Photosmart Basic Driver", but I can't find it. I've even had a trawl through the HP FTP site! I really only want the basic driver. I certainly don't want all the other stuff that the full version brings - particularly the Yahoo toolbar for IE! Does anyone know where the basic driver can be found?? Thanks in advance.

That is not true at all. When you try to use that install package there is no option to just install the drivers without the other garbage. I just want the driver for the Photosmart d7260 but NO, that's too hard for HP to understand that people exist that don't need to be babied through installing drivers. I don't need you to hold my hand just give me the file I need to try and make my printer work again.
