Where is the catalog in Elements 11?

I have no idea where my catalog is located, and therefore can't move it which I'd like to do. Does anyone know how to locate it?

Use the Help menu, system info section.
You'll find the location of your catalog.
The catalog is a folder (not a single file). It contains the database (catalog.pse11db) and several accessory files like caches and subfolders.
That folder may be hidden, so that you may have to tell Windows to show hidden files.
To move a catalog from Windows, move the whole catalog with its subfolders. Close the organizer, then double click on the catalog.pse11db file. That will tell the catalog manager to open the catalog and store its location in the 'custom' location section.
Important : moving the catalog does not move the picture files.
Note : I don't know about Macs, but that must be similar.

  • Where is the catalog? Maverick issue

After uploading Maverick, LR says it can't find my catalog. Where is it, and how do I resotre it. I'm one of the few LR users who only use LR on the fly for web galleris and watermarkeing, but I  notice right away after choosing default catalog, it's screwed up my identity plate, so maybe I should track down the catalog I was using? thanks.

thanks, found it but think just one the created after mavericks.
I back up to HD every night with super duper, I'm sure whatever was there was overwrtten by now. I do time machine, not sure this rabbit is worth it.
Just found the old catalog, and put it in pictures (via Time Machined), launched LR and it said error. So put in the new catalog, back to where I started. Identity plate is gone, not sure what other surprsies I'll encounter with this new catalog.

  • How do I empty the catalog in elements 10?

Hi folks, Tom is my name.  I stupidly imported 27000 photos into my catalog when I installed PSE10.  Now my computer is on the go slow every time I open the Organiser creating thumbnails.  How do I quickly empty the catalog please?  then I will only import the photos into the catalog as I work them and also as I start to catalogue them properly.  Any suggestions would be greatly received.  A real newbies question but this is the first time I have jumped into the photoshop family with this software.
    Tom

    Why not start over.
    File à Catalog à New
Give it a new name e.g. My Catalog2
Include free music and click OK.
Elements does not import any physical files. It only makes links to the photos on yoyr hard drive. So you are not duplicating any files.

  • Where is the catalog sync feature?

Okay, first, thanks to Adobe for putting soft proofing in. Boy, did we need that one!
But where, oh where, is the thing where my laptop DB checks in with my main image DB back at the studio, refreshing the studio DB with recent edits I've done on the laptop and adding the new photos I've taken?
Serious LR users need this feature, and I for one am very dissapointed that we didn't get it.
    Or will we?

As it may not make the final release, and we wouldn't want the request to get lost in beta land, might I suggest adding the request to the Feature Request forum http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family where it can easily be tracked?  Or if you search there, you should find similar requests that you might like to add your vote to.

  • Where's the Catalog Option in Acrobat 8?

Pardon me if this question is silly but I am trying to index our PDF archives before burning them into DVDs. In Acrobat 6, I could find Catalog in one of the menus. Where can I locate that in Acrobat 8?

Thanks. How could I have repeatedly missed that. I did try Help but whenever I clicked on Help menu, I kept getting the dreaded spinning beachball, then the options just flash and disappear. By the time it stabilized, you already answered the question. Could be magic at work. :)

  • Migrate Catalogs from Elements 4.0 to Elements 13.0  - Is it possible?

I am moving from Elements 4.0 to Elements 13.0.  I have made a securitycopy of the catalog in Elements 4.0 and I am trying to convert it to the later version. But it is not working!
Any hints?  Or is the step too long?  I did read that there were a change in DB-format between Elements 5.0 and Elements 6.0.  Can it have some impact?
Thanks for your input  / Johan

    See that recent paper:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/elements-organizer/kb/convert-organizer-catalog-elements-13-64.html
You don't say exactly how you are moving. Are you installing on the same computer or another one? Which OS versions?

  • Using Windows 8 64 bit Premiere Elements 12 , motion tracker gives me the folloing error; The media file seems to have an invalid entry in the catalog, please rename it for use.

    Thanks for the reply.
I checked the link that I posted back in post 3 of your thread. It is working with at least Firefox and Chrome.
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE12: Motion Tracking/What To Use To Track Object?
    What browser are you using?
The blog post contains significant information related to Premiere Elements 12 Motion Tracking. But, if you cannot access it for some reason, then we will need to troubleshoot via communications in the thread.
SG has asked if you are able to create Motion Tracking effect using one of the graphics included with the program. We will watch for your response to him on that question. Please include in your message to him whether you can obtain your file to track the object using Organizer Tab or Project Assets routes as well as Graphics Tab.
The following is an excerpt from the blog post referenced....
    SOLUTION
Various tutorials and online comments have pointed to places other than Graphics Tab where objects can be selected and used to track the moving object in the video when the Motion Tracking workspace is opened in the Expert or Quick workspace.
Organizer Tab, Expert or Quick workspace to access Elements Organizer 12. Cascade Windows and drag a video or photo from Elements Organizer into the yellow track box of Motion Tracking workspace.
Project Assets, Expert workspace. Drag text, video, or photos from opened Project Assets into the yellow track box of Motion Tracking workspace.
Graphics Tab, Expert or Quick workspace. Create a png file (graphic) or prtl file (text) and place it in Clip Arts in the Program Files of the program to have a permanent resource. Then from Graphics Tab, drag the newly created graphic or text object into yellow track box of Motion Tracking workspace.
    Thanks.

  • On update to 13.1, my catalog only shows what was on the camera that was connected.  Where did the rest of my (thousands of) pictures go?

After installing an upgrade from Elements 11 (it would no longer open, even with uninstall and re-installation) to Elements 13, everything was working great.  Today I did an update to Elements 13.1, and all that appears in mu catalog are pictures from the camera that was connected at the time of the update.  Because I have a small-ish SSD for my OS (Windows 7), the program is installed on the E drive.  The Catalog Manager shows only a single catalog, but I have no idea where it is located, nor where to begin to look for an older catalog file that might be somewhere else.  How do I find and recover my old catalog file?

I found the catalog file in my C drive (207mb) with a modified date of today.  Can I move the file to another drive?  The fact that it is 207mb would indicate that everything should be there- correct?  I have 200+ gigs of pictures and 800+ gigs of video.
That seems to be the right folder. You can move or copy the whole folder elsewhere and use the catalog manager to browse to the new location. Alternatively, once the new catalog is moved, you can open the Organizer with it by double clicking on the 'catalog.pse13db' file.
Is there something that changed in the view options to where I am having trouble selecting a "view all" option?  All of the folders are listed in the folder view, but my "people" view is now blank.  How do I get all folders to be viewed in the "all media" section instead of just my last import?
I have no clue about the 'people' view (I don't use it). By default, only the last import batch is shown. You have a 'sort order' menu on the left of the third line. Choose another sort order. If you are not shown 'All media', you should have a button (arrow shape pointing to the left) on the left of the third line.

  • Adobe Photoshop elements - the catalog will not open on the new laptop I just bought.

I installed the Adobe software for Elements 5.0. The catalog won't open. The new laptop uses Windows 7. Could that be the problem? If so, how do I rectify the problem?

    Hi,
Actually, I did eventually get it to open. However, the photos are no longer tagged. I recovered the photos from my external hard drive, which is where I always stored them.
So you are saying that I would need to actually to a BACKUP from ELEMENTS itself? If I do that, the tags will still be attached to the photos? I have over 6000 photos. I do not want to have to reorganize and re tag them again.
Thank you for any suggestions you can provide!

  • Photoshop Elements 11 freezes when attempting to backup the catalog

I just upgraded from version 10 hoping that this problem goes away, but that is not the case. I also changed PCs some months ago and this is my first attempt to backup the catalog using my new PC which has a Windows 8 system.
Essentially, when I attempt to backup the catalog, Photoshop first prepares the files, and then goes to "calculating media size". It then freezes at the 85% mark. I have tried many solutions as suggested by various commentators & forums. I have uninstalled Photoshop 10 & 11, and reinstalled 11 as an administrator, but that has not helped so far. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I moved the topic from the Photoshop forum to the Elements forum, where you are much more likely to get a response on Elements issues.

  • Using Adobe Photoshop Elements 7, Recovered photos through Carbonite but can't find the catalog,Please help ......

I have tried everything I know, but can't locate the catalog- I do not know where it is or what it would be named or what carbonite would call it. Also, the photos are not at the "same" location. I have over 22,000 photos and can't imagine trying to re-catalog. It is my life and of course, I need something immediately for a family funeral. Not to be too dramatic.... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Try the Elements forum.
    Photoshop Elements
Photoshop Extended doesn't use catalogs.  But I'm guessing your catalog information was contained in a data or xml file.

How do I move my Elements photo files to a new computer keeping the catalog & version sets?

I recommend you ask that in the PSE forum. I'm sure there is some import/ export hocuspocus involved...

  • I'm moving an internal hard drive from an old computer to a new computer.  How do I transfer the catalog data to my new computer so the Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 will find the data on the hard that has been moved to the new computer?

I'm moving an internal hard drive from an old computer to a new computer.  (My new compute runs Windows 8.1) How do I transfer the catalog data to my new computer so the Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 will find the data on the hard that has been moved to the new computer?  Is this possible or do I have to use the procedure of copying the catalog along with the photos to a back up hard drive and then restore them on the new computer?

The 'normal' procedure is to do a PSE organizer backup (not a copy or a backup from external tools) to an external drive, then a restore to the new location.
The advantage is that you have a backup of both catalog and media files and you don't have all disconnected files, which would happen with external backup tools. Also, if you restore with a more recent elements version, the catalog will be automatically updated to the new format.
The drawback in your situation is that you'll have either to overwrite all your files or restore to a custom location, creating a duplicate photo library (which supposes you have enough free space).
It would be possible to simply use the organizer in the old PC to move the catalog to a new 'custom' folder just under your C: root drive. The catalog would be accessible once the drive will be installed in the new PC. Then you would have all files 'disconnected' due to the fact that all your media files are now on a drive with a different letter. Reconnecting a whole library is a hard job with PSE6, less so with PSE11/PSE12.
If the idea of fiddling with the sqlite database with external sqlite manager tools is ok for you, I can describe the process more in detail. You only copy your catalog folder (as suggested above) to another location. Instead of trying the 'reconnection' way, you install the sqlite utility on the new computer. When the old drive is installed in the new computer, you simply edit a given record in the catalog database, catalog.psedb, and start the organizer with your copied catalog by simply double clicking the 'catalog.psedb' file.
Even if the last solution is much, much quicker, I would still create a new PSE backup : you have never too much safety .
