Where is the Character Viewer?

What happen to the Character Pallette (aka: Character Viewer). ??
I no longer see anything in System> Keyboard....
It allowed using foreign language accents...had math symbols...other cool stuff, even some emitocons (sp?) etc.
Anybody know how to find it in Mavericks?

Character Viewer is still there in OS X Mavericks. To access to it, open System Preferences > Keyboard, and tick "Show Keyboard & Character Viewers in menu bar".
Then, press the viewer button on the menu bar (at the top right part of the display) and open Character Viewer.
You can also open it from any application, by going to Edit menu (on the menu bar) > Special Characters

  • How do I insert Greek characters from the character viewer in Lion?

In Lion, the Character Viewer shows many more options for different characters than SL.  Of course, it displays Latin, but, as I scientist I often need to insert Greek characters, but I cannot find Greek characters in the Character Viewer.  I don't otherwise need to select Greek as a language.  Inserting Greek characters from some applications like MS Word still works.
And ... while I'm here ... what happened to the "insert" button?  -j

Click the gear icon to edit your list:
    Select Customize List:
    and check "Greek"

  • The character viewer no longer shows the complete unicode map, as it had in SnowLeopard. How do I get it back?

Just upgraded to Lion. The character viewer, which previously allowed one to see the entire unicode map for each font, no longer does this. It shows only certain kinds of symbols, not all of them. I am unhappy: I need to be able to access alternative letters and symbols, not just European vowels. Can someone help me?

    Hi Sally,
I is still there, but a bit hidden.
    1. Open the character viewer
    2. Open the gear menu in the top left corner and select 'customize list...'
    3. Go down to the bottom of the list 'Select categories...' and open 'Code Tables'.
    4. Mark 'Unicode' for inclusion and click 'Done'.
Now open in the character viewer window the freshly added 'Unicode' category.
It is a bit cramped, but there it is: the old and trusted character viewer with all unicode categories and associated font variations.
    good luck!
    regards,
    Twan

  • OSX Mavericks - Where is the 'today' view in Finder?

Where has the 'Today' and 'Yesterday' view gone in Finder?

    Hi bobcatX,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The "Search For" option is not present in the Finder sidebar in Mavericks, but you can recreate the functionality by using Smart Folders. When you create a Smart Folder, you have the option to add it to the Finder sidebar.
To set it up, first create a Smart Folder:
In the Finder, choose File > New Smart Folder, or press Command (⌘)-Option-N.
Next, set the parameters of your search:
To search for additional specific attributes, click Add ( + ) below the search field. Search attribute pop-up menus appear.
The menus work in pairs; for example, to search for images, you would choose Kind from the pop-up menu on the left, and then choose Images from the pop-up menu next to it.
In this case, choose "Last modified date" from the pop-up menu on the left, and "Today" or "Yesterday" from the pop-up menu next to it.
    Lastly, save the search:
Click Save, and specify a name and location for your Smart Folder. If you do not want your Smart Folder to be in the sidebar, deselect Add To Sidebar.
You can do many things with Smart Folders, so check out this article for more tips:

  • Where is the "month" view on the calendar in iOS7?

    The subject is my question.
What happened to the month view on the calendar in iOS7? I really liked my MONTH view. Mine is showing only 3 options: Today, Calendars, Inbox.
I really liked being able to see what is scheduled for the month.  Now I have to push on each day to see if there is something going on, and the calendar only shows the week.
Apple reminds me of Coke.  You have something that works really well and everyone loves it (real Coke), and then they decide to completely change it (fake Coke LOL) and one can never get the old stuff back -- even as an option.
So I liked my old calendar and wanted to keep it.  LOL

Okay, just found this thread for anyone else who has this question: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23043066#23043066

  • Where is the maps view in photos in ios7

Ipafter the update to ios7 i am missing in photos the view of the map.
Before you could selcet the map and then start to find all photos from that location.
I don't like the new view. I will not upgrade my other ios devices to ios7 until this is fixed.

I have this issue too. I use iTunes for Windows to sync folders of photos (containing EXIF data) to my iPhone. On iOS 6, the map view was available in the photos app, but in iOS 7 it has disappeared.

I just updated my itunes so it will work with my new nano, but now I can't seem to play videos in the artwork viewer - I can't even find the artwork viewer. Is there a new option for watching videos while arranging playlists, etc?

  • Where is the 360 viewer within Indesign 5.5?

    Hi Guys
I am using Indesign 5.5 and I have the 1.0 Producer tools. The 360 viewer does not show in my Overlay Creator like it does in Terry White's video. Is this because I have the older producer tools? Image of my Indesign and Terry White's screen below.

  • Where's the list view in Calendar?

I want my list view back in Calendar...

I found this and it worked for me:
The list-only view in Calendar is still available, but getting to it is different in iOS 8.
From the scrolling month view (where you have a continuous view of calendar months where each week is a row), tap on any day (the number) to bring up the list-only view. You'll see a scrollable list of calendar entries, and the icon to the left of the search button at the top will have changed to look like a list. Tap that icon and you'll get a graphical day view of appointments. Tap it again to return to the list-only.
If you're in the scrolling month view and you tap the icon to the left of the search button, you'll switch to a combination of month-and-day's appointments.
I found this very confusing at first, but it's not any more difficult than the old way (once you get used to it).

  • Where is the "\" character on the touchpad of a Laserjet mfp M177fw

I just want to configure my wifi connection so I need to enter my network password.  Problem is there is no backslash character "\" on the touchpad and this character is part of the network password !!
On the touchpad we see or have access to three groups of characters. There is a slash "/" with the group of alphabetical characters and an another slash "/" in the group of special characters but I have not found the backslash anywhere.
Because this the only machine not able to connected to the network I dont want to reconfigure the network interface.
Would be happy If you have a solution...

    Hi @Brisson ,
I see by your post that you would like to be able to put in the \ in the password. I can help you.
I checked on the display of the printer and the only options for characters are under the @#$, which doesn't provide the \.
You would unfortunately have to change the password, if you are setting up the network through the control panel.
You can turn the Wireless Direct on and connect to that network, then setup the wireless from the printer's Embedded Web Server.
Under Network Setup, Wireless Menu, Wireless Direct, turn it on.
Connect to the printer's network and from a web browser type in the IP address (192.168.223.1) for the printer in the address bar. Click on the Networking tab, select Wireless on the left and fill in your information.
Then connect back to your network name again.
I have seen some models won't recognize special characters or spaces when setting up the network, with this being a newer model it should be fine. (@! #/)
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.
