Where is the command 'seq'?

I don't find the command 'seq', which generates a series of numbers, in my My Mac Leopard. Could somebody let me know where is it? If it is not on my machine, how to install it?

There isn't one in any of the default OSX shells, but you could roll your own. A better place for this question would be in one of the Mac OS X Technologies forums, such as the Unix forum.

  • Disable clearing of /tmp on boot - where is the command in rc.sysinit

    Hi there, I want to disable the clearing of the /tmp folder on boot, but I can't seem to find the appropriate line in etc/rc.sysinit.
    Apparently this should be the line
    /bin/mountpoint -q /tmp || /bin/rm -rf /tmp/* /tmp/.* &>/dev/null
    but my rc.sysinit does not contain that at all:
    mountpoint -q /proc || mount -n -t proc proc /proc -o nosuid,noexec,nodev
    mountpoint -q /sys || mount -n -t sysfs sys /sys -o nosuid,noexec,nodev
    mountpoint -q /run || mount -n -t tmpfs run /run -o mode=0755,size=10M,nosuid,nodev
    mountpoint -q /dev || mount -n -t devtmpfs udev /dev -o mode=0755,size=10M,nosuid &>/dev/null \
    || mount -n -t tmpfs udev /dev -o mode=0755,size=10M,nosuid
    mkdir -p -m 1777 /run/lock
    mkdir -p /dev/{pts,shm}
    mountpoint -q /dev/pts || mount -n /dev/pts &>/dev/null \
    || mount -n -t devpts devpts /dev/pts -o mode=0620,gid=5,nosuid,noexec
    mountpoint -q /dev/shm || mount -n /dev/shm &>/dev/null \
    || mount -n -t tmpfs shm /dev/shm -o mode=1777,nosuid,nodev
    Also the "remove_leftover" function doesn't seem to be about cleaning /tmp... ?
    Where is the command that clears /tmp located in this file?

    Do you mean the Command/CMD key, or some reset button?
    If using a PC KB it's likely the Windows key that equals CMD on Mac.

  • Where is the command to dim monitor on Maverick?

    Before I upgraded to Maverick I could dim or brighten my monitor.
    The keyboard commands do nothing now.
    Can't find it any where in the System Preferences.

    Hi Hadlt,
    Try pressing a key called fn on your keyboard at the same time you press f1(dim) or f2(brighten). If this works you can fix it under:
    System Preferences->Keyboard and make sure the checkbox at " Use all F1,F2, etc. keys as standard function keys is not activated.

  • Where is the command line interface in DW CS3 on a Mac?

    I have seen other forums where they instruct you to use the command bar or command line interface to set permissions and what not, but I do not see where that might be in Dreamweaver CS3 on a Mac. Can someone assist me in locating this feature?
    Thanks in advance,
    Todd Temple > T2 Design

    There is no command line interface in Dreamweaver. It's a tool for editing web pages.
    However, you can use Dreamweaver to set the permissions on web pages on your remote server like this:
    In the Files panel, select Remote view from the drop-down menu at the top right.
    Select the file(s)/folder(s) for which you want to change the permissions.
    Right-click and select Set Permissions from the context menu.
    Set the permissions in the dialog box that opens.
    As the dialog box warns you, this command does not work on all servers. If your remote server won't allow you to change permissions through Dreamweaver, you need to log into your hosting company's control panel, and change the permissions there. If you don't know how to do it through the control panel, ask your hosting company for help, as the method depends on the control panel used.

  • Where are the commands?

    I am just starting with my new Flash CS4 and I'm confused about the Commands menu. I want to create a slide show, and all the instruction that I've read say to start by clicking on Commands->Create Slideshow. But when I look in the commands menu, I don't see "Create Slideshow" or much of anything else, either. Where is Create Slideshow? This is the very first time I've used Flash CS4, so there may be some setup necessary to make the command(s) available, but I don't see anything like that in the instructions that I've found so far. Where is "Create Slideshow"?
    Thanks for your help,

    I still can't figure this out. This is probably a simple newby issue, but what is the Flash CS4 Commands menu supposed to contain on installation? Might I need to install something else to populate it with the "Make Slideshow". All the information that I've seen online seems to imply that it's part of the initial installation.
    Thanks, in advance, for any help you can give me on this.

  • Powerbook G4;  where is the command key?

    I received the information on resetting passwords on the Powerbook G4.   It asks me to use the command key.  I have no idea of where on the G4 the command key is located,  none are so labeled.    This is the first Mac of any kind donated so I am totally in the dark.  The OS is 10.5.8

    There's two. One is just left of the space bar the other on the right.
    It doesn't say Command. It has an Apple icon with the Command icon

  • Where is the command line in the directory?

    I am relearning Java programming and doing an online tutorial.
    I went ahead and dowloaded the JDK program (jdk-6u3-windows-i586-p-iftw.exe) from Java's website and put it in a folder on my computer. I also have a BigDebt.java program on my computer....but the tutorial is telling me to put this command "javac BigDebt.java" in the directory where my program is saved to compile the program. Do I type in "javac BigDebt.java" in the Address line in the folder or where do I type this? Thanks.

Worry about that when your code is good enough that someone would want to steal it and it would damage you if they did so. The short version is by obfuscation, which it not a very strong measure, or through license agreements, or by running the sensitive code on a server, so the client never sees it.
    And what are some really cool games that have been made with only JAVA or do people use JAVA with other programming languages to create games and applications?Don't know. Not into games.
    Also, it's Java, not JAVA. It's not an acronym.

  • HT3597 where is the command to set up voice dialing?

    I cannot figure out how to set up voice dialing. YES I have a headset and bluetooth and yet I can't find WHERE to SET UP a phone number with my VOICE.

    Press and hold the Home button. That will bring up Voice Command. There's really nothing to set up. You would then say, "Call <name from your contacts>" or "Call 8005551212".

  • Where is the command file in arch linux?

    Hi!
    Switching over from debian and Mac OS I'm missing some details in Arch Linux. At the moment there is an issue with my NagiosQL setup. In the config part I need to tell NagiosQL where to check if Icinga (a nagios replacement) is running by the path to its command file. Icinga gets started by systemctl. Usually I would look in /var/run, but there is no icinga.pid or such thing. Where do PID files reside?
    Thanks

    awado wrote:Do I have to run it as another user?
    Hmm. The second page I linked says this:
    Before you install the package create the user icinga:icinga with these commands:
    # groupadd -g 667 icinga
    # useradd -u 667 -g icinga -G http -d /dev/null -s /bin/false icinga
    Did you try this? I probably don't don't what I'm talking about, because I've never used this package.

  • Where is the Command-1 in Messages Beta?

    I have been using Messages Beta for Mac OSX and could chat with friends using their (and my) Yahoo account. Until recently, there were two windows that I could choose from, Command-0 (Messages) and Command-1 (chat window). But the last option has mysteriously disappeared... When I now want to send a message to a friend with a yahoo account, Messages tells me "The message could not be sent. [email protected] is not available for iMessage." He is online. Also, all options under the menu "Buddies" are greyed out. How do I get the iChat window back, and how can I chat with my friends?

    Hi,
    Thanks for the Points
    With the New Message icon used you get a blue icon top right that allows you to access your Contacts (iMessages) or Buddies.
    Uploaded with Skitch!
    I show the Contacts List (Address Book) open in this pic.
    It will try to see if an Email is an iMessage viable ID  (Apple IDs can be emails from anywhere)
    iMessages allows Messages beta to contact (text) Contacts in your Address Book via their iPhone Number or their Apple ID if you know it (And if they are using an iOS 5 device or Messages Beta)
    As you can see you can also use the blue icon to list those Buddies On Line (If you are not showing your Buddy Lists).
    Uploaded with Skitch!
    This Pic shows the Buddies in one group from one Buddy List with all other Groups closed down (Various groups from 6 Buddy Lists.
    You should be able to find your Yahoo Buddy(s) this way if needed.
    Using the Window Menu you can elect to Show the Buddy Lists.

  • Where is the Command Wizard in BEx Web Application Designer(WAD) 7.0

    Hi,
    I am new to SAP and BEx Web App Designer and am reading through the help about the so-called Command Wizard. I have looked all over the app and I see nothing called a Command Wizard.
    I am I missing something obvious or is this buried somewhere in the app?
    Based on how much it is mentioned in the help, I would assume it should be somewhere visible.
    Brian

    Hi,
    "Command Wizard".  When you design Web template one of your web item called ' Button ' have this ' Command Wizard'.
    Go to Button properties -
    select internal display-----select list of button---there you will find action  Command trigger-----Command Wizard.
