Where is the Contacts Search feature?

I have over 4,000 contacts in my list. I need to be able to search for contacts based on information in other fields besides first and last name. Where can I find the Contacts Search/Spotlight input field or equivalent?

** BUMP **
I notice that all the reviews are highlighting how easy it is to SCROLL (browse) the contacts list in the Phone Book, I have yet to figure out how to SEARCH the contacts list. It seems like you can do this when you're entering a Text Message recipient (or, for that matter, addressing an email message), so clearly the ability to perform a "lookup" action is there, but either it's not implemented in the Phone application, or I'm just blind.
So, to illustrate: Right now, I've sorted my Phone contacts by last name. Suppose I want to call "Michael" but I don't know his last name. In Mac OS X (along with the really good smartphones), I would typically be able to enter his first name and have all the Micahels in my contacts list show up. Not only that, I'd also get search results for anyone who worked for a company called "Michael", or even someone who had "Michael" in their notes field (perhaps I'm looking for "Michael's Secretary"?)
I hope Apple is paying attention, because something as simple as a contact search REALLY ought to be part of their inevitable 1.1 release!!

  • Where's the Contact search function?!

I updated my iPhone to 2.02 already, but can't find where's the contact search function.

Doesn't work for me. Had to revert to ordinary finger-scrolling.

  • The iPhone Search feature doesn't show Contacts/Top hits anymore?

All of a sudden... when I use the general Search Feature on the iPhone4,  the Top Hits do not show up anymore.  This was the main way I found the contacts that I wanted to call.  Any ideas on how to turn that back on?

You could try going to Settings > General > Spotlight Search and make sure all options there are checked.

It could be in the Utilities folder. Just use the search feature to find it.

Where did the analogue in feature go?
None of the HD cameras I have searched for have a analogue input. In fact, I have found only one MD camera that has that capability.

Hello! I said... I want the ability to input analogue video into my camcorder so I can continue to transfer VHS and input and record video from other sources. The new HD cameras on the market will not allow you to record video from any source except for the lens.
I have HD cable box. I want to record my HD programs from cable (HBO, Starz, etc) to my camera, download the video to my Mac from the camera and then edit them in iMovie and create professional looking movie DVD's in iMovie.
iMovie HD can work with mini DV HD cameras and HD video. I was not aware of a system requirement for working with HD content.

  • T List?Using Mail Version 6.3 (1503): where is the Contact list

Using Mail Version 6.3 (1503): where is the Contact list? On my old Pro it had "Contacts"

Hi, in Mail6.3 the button to display your address book and another of other useful quick buttons have disappeared. I am a first time Mac user and find the lack of options to manipulate the application astonishing.  I want to quickly access my address book from the email window, like having a button next to TO. This feature is very important as I do not always know the full names of the people I am writing too.  I also experience problems to open the address book when writing an email in iCloud and to load distribution lists. Also, I would like to use at least a two-level structure to save my email lists that I can display and hide. Resizing the contact app is another feature that has been limited, and also too browse for an email whilst a window to write an email is open. Perhaps you can help me to discover these options.
    Thanks.

It's a 3rd party app.  You really should contact Adobe Support and/or post in the Adobe Forums
    Mac OS X (10.6.6)
Use Software Update or the OS 10.6.8 combo update to update your OS.  Also, update everything SU has to offer for your computer.  When done, repair permissions and restart your computer.

  • Where did the "save as" feature go?

I just opened up a Pages document, after my Lion upgrade.  I want to use the orginal document, make changes and save as a new document.  However, when I clicked on "File" to go to the "Save As," I discovered it is no longer there.  Where is the "Save As" feature now.  This is, obviously, a crucial need.

In most cases, though, you don't need a separate file.  Just make a Version with Cmd+S.
Much faster, and takes up much less space, since it only saves the changes, not the whole document.
As a work machine processing files, folders, and graphics, in many cases I do, everyday.
Changing file name and format and still have the original to work with.
    Seems crazy to me.

  • Where is the call forward feature located???

Where is the call forward feature found??

However if you have an iPhone with a CDMA carrier (such as Verizon or Sprint), call forwarding is not a feature on the phone. You have to enable it by dialing a code.

  • Where is the Contacts Master file when using iCloud?

It used to be when I used "MobileMe", I was very clear about where my Master file was for my CONTACTS (fka Address Book) information.  I could make changes on my iMac and then push them to my iPhone and iPad and evrything worked and synce perfectly (via iTunes).
When iCloud replaced MobileMe nothing seems to be right anymore.  Updates on my phone don't show up in my iMac Contacts.  All my contacts in my iMac are now duplicated to most things are there twice.  And I'm afriad to deactivate iCloud becasue of the onmious "...iCloud will delter these files from your device." message.
Could you possibly have taken something that worked so well and screwed it up any worse?
I am a long time APPLE user and I have "gotten" most things that Apple has done in the past 20 years.  But iCloud seems to confound me on numerous levels.
Where should I make changes and updates to my Contacts files so it flows to all my devices?
Why does the Contacts file in my iMac now have duplicate entires?
Why don't iCalendar updates I make in my iPhone transfer over to my iCalendar on my iMac?
Is anyone else having troubles with something the used to work so perfectly?
    Frustrated in Denver....

iCloud uses a server-client model in which your contacts and calendars reside in your account on Apple's iCloud server.  Your computers and iOS devices simply interact with the data on the server.  When any client device makes a change on the server, that change should be immediately seen by the other client devices signed into your account.  This video may help explain what's going on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBf7Uzv1OmQ&feature=player_embedded.
That said, changes should be bi-directional; any change made on one device should be replicated on the others.  Since that's not happening for you, something isn't working properly.  To troubleshoot this, you start by determining wich of your devices is the problem.  Open you contacts on icloud.com (the "master" list), then add a test contact on your phone and on your Mac and see which one fails to appear on icloud.com.  Then do the same thing with your calendar: add a test event on your phone and your Mac and see which one fails to appear on your calendar on icloud.com.
Let me know your results and we'll take it from there.

  • Where are the all-new features for China?

    Hello.
I just upgraded from 10.7 to 10.8 and while going through the feature list I wanted to look more closely at the all-new features for China. However, it looks like most them are not there.
OS X Mountain Lion brings all-new support for many popular Chinese features and services. The dictionary app now includes the Standard Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese. Improved text input makes typing in Chinese easier, faster, and more accurate. With eight new fonts, your writing can appear formal, informal, or fun. Mail works with QQ, 163, and 126. Baidu, the leading Chinese search provider, is a built-in option in Safari. Now you can post to the web right from the app you’re in. Post videos with Youku and Tudou. Post to Sina Weibo, the popular microblogging service. And share easier than ever. All these new services are easy to set up on your Mac.
I've not been able to find anything about the new services that OS X integrates with. For example, in Safari I can only choose between Google, Yahoo and Bing. In QuickTime Player I can only upload to YouTube and Vimeo, and the only microblogging service I can add is Twitter.

Is it impossible to use the those features without making the computer chinese?
I forgot, yes, you can you can always add an account for a specific service in the Messages, Calendars & Contacts Preferences pane.

  • Where is the catalog sync feature?

Okay, first, thanks to Adobe for putting soft proofing in. Boy, did we need that one!
But where, oh where, is the thing where my laptop DB checks in with my main image DB back at the studio, refreshing the studio DB with recent edits I've done on the laptop and adding the new photos I've taken?
Serious LR users need this feature, and I for one am very dissapointed that we didn't get it.
    Or will we?

As it may not make the final release, and we wouldn't want the request to get lost in beta land, might I suggest adding the request to the Feature Request forum http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family where it can easily be tracked?  Or if you search there, you should find similar requests that you might like to add your vote to.
