Where is the dodge/burn plugin?

sorry guys i realise I'm probably being blind
where/how do you access the new plugin?

Besides being able to edit with Photoshop (or another external editor of your choice), you now have the choice of Dodge & Burn as well. So, you choose it from this location and not the adjustments panel.

  • Sudden "unsupported image format" after using Dodge & Burn Plugin

After using Dodge & Burn plugin for first time (seems great) one of the images suddenly turned into "unsupported image format" in Aperture. Just happened to one but its a critical one so I need to figure it out. Any thoughts?

if you keep the console open when you're editing these photos and the "unsupported image format" message comes up, you'll notice that Aperture is throwing malloc errors on the console. this means that while its trying to load the image, it is running out of RAM. the core problem here is that Aperture can't address more than 2GB of RAM and i think the only way that Apple can address this problem is by moving to a 64-bit version of Aperture. it would be really nice if this issue was addressed in a 2.2 release sometime soon as this happens to me all the time now after round-tripping an image to Photoshop.
i would not expect to have to quit and restart a professional photography application every time i finish editing an image.
Good to know. But I don't expect a .2 upgrade to be 64bits, a next major version of Aperture is more likely to be 64bits (Aperture 3), considering AP 2 is at the end of its development cycle and a new major release is due before summer.

  • Where are the Ken Burns controls?

I've got iPhoto 4.0.3. The iPhoto Help menu tells me to go to View>Thumbnails, but my View menu doesn't have Thumbnails as an option. Nevertheless, I can get a screen full of thumbnails when I click on the "Organise" button at the bottom of the iPhoto pane. The help menu says to select the photo you want (no problem there) and then to select the Ken Burns Effect box ( a screenshot of which is shown), but this box is nowhere to be seen. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Where is this durn Ken Burns thing?
    Ken W.

    Ken,
iPhoto 5 has features not available in iPhoto 4. If you want to use the Ken Burns effect, use iMovie to make a movie from photos in your iPhoto collection.
I don't know how you got the wrong Help document (maybe a foul up when your machine was built?), and I'm not sure of any way to fix it other than by deleting the errant document and running the iPhoto 4 installer again. You'll need to delete the iPhoto 5 Help document and any iPhoto-related ".pkg" files in the root level "Library >Receipts" folder before you reinstall. Everything else can stay.

  • Where is the Photoshop Elements plugin folder?

For some reason one of my plugins does not install to Photoshop Elements and I was wondering if anyone knew where the folder is where I should manually copy the plugin. Thank you for your help!

Just one thing--is this PSE6? If so, are you sure the plug-in isn't installing? Many (probably most) plug-ins are too old to be universal. If you are getting a message that one or more plug-ins failed to load, that doesn't mean the install failed, just that you need to run PSE in rosetta when you want to use the plug-in.

  • ITunes 8: Where did the "Importing/Burning" setting go?

Since I've upgraded to iTunes 8, the Importing and Burning settings have disappeared from Preferences > Advanced.
Anyone know where it is now?

iTunes>Preferences>General, click on the "import Settings" button.
There is no longer a global setting for burning, when you insert a blank CD and click on Burn Disc, a burn settings dialogue box opens so you can choose an individual setting for each disk you burn.

  • Where is the Warp Stabilizer plugin located in After Effects CS6 program files?

I need to delete the plugin temporarily to gain access to my project because it constantly crashes on start up due to the Warp Stabilizer.

NOt sure if you can actually remove it,but it should be in the plugins/extensions sub-folder inside the AE install folder. Anyway, try the usual troubleshooting first before taking such a radical step that may destroy AE and require a reinstall. Flush the caches, open the project with capslock and remove the effect.

  • Dodge/Burn Tool

Hi. Just been playing with PSE8 and having problems with the dodge/burn tool. Know it's usually located with the sponge tool but for some reason I can't access them. The sponge tool is visible in the tool box but when highlighted, the options at the top are only for brush type/brush tool/Mode and Flow. Any thoughts?

when highlighted, the options at the top are only for brush type/brush tool/Mode and Flow
Just FYI, this is going to be true for all grouped tools--the other tools in a subgroup no longer appear in the options bar, only in the toolbox itself, but you can still switch by repeatedly tapping the letter shortcut key for the tool group.

  • CS4 Clone Stamp and Dodge/Burn not Working

CS4 clone stamp is kaput. Flattening image does not help. Source region shows in the cursor circle when pointing to target region, but when I left-click and hold, the target region shows, and cloning does not occur. Tried resetting the tool, no help. Opacity is 59, flow is 85 and hardness is 51.
Likewise tried the dodge/burn tool, does not work either.
Using PS v. 11.0.1 Tried to download windows patch to update to v. 11.0.2, but the msi file is not recognized as a valid windows installer.
I have CS3 on my notebook. Cloning the same region there works fine.
    Any ideas appreciated.

I don't see anything obvious you've done wrong.
    Some things to try:
Try temporarily disabling the use of OpenGL through Edit - Preferences - Performance, or selecting an alternate level (Basic/Normal/Advanced).
Try disabling the "Show Overlay" feature in the Clone Source panel.
Check the web site of the manufacturer of your video card for updated video drivers.

  • PSCC2014 dodge/burn weak?

Installed on my WIN 7-64 system are PS CS6, PS CC and PS CC2014 (each used with a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet, with latest driver). In CC 2014, I notice that now the dodge / burn tool (s) seem to be significantly 'weakened': what used to take a few brush strokes (using the stylus) to effect now takes me many brush strokes to achieve the same result. This IS with the same Preferences and the same Tool Options Bar settings, and with the exact same file, using the same stylus. It is also whether I am working on an image layer or on a mask for a layer.
Since I work so much on refining masks, I need these tools to work efficiently like the did in the two previous versions (again, all conditions were the same).
Is anyone else noticing this, and/or is there something being reset in CC 2014 that's hidden that could be causing this?

Noel, thanks for your suggestions, but the settings I use the dodge/burn tool(s) on ARE the same for each PS version: I use Dodge set to Highlights, Burn to Shadows, and vary the Exposure, as I usually want quick results.
I did try resetting the tool, but this defaults to Midtones at 50% Exposure, which doesn't 'work' for me as it's just too slow (in any version).
Since I almost always dodge/burn on a mask, the Protect Tones setting is not enabled when working on masks.
Here is a further clue to my dilemma: I took the same file, opened it in PS CC and PS CC 2014, loaded a Luminosity Mask, and compared how the tool works with the stylus and with the Wacom mouse. AHA! With the mouse, it does work as previously in CC 2014... but definitely NOT with the stylus. I did count the strokes, so I know it's not my imagination.

  • CD burner plugin downl

I downloaded the cd burner plugin from Creative but when I tried to run it, I received message from Install Shield Wizard "unable to detect a supported product on your system". Listed below is what I have installed on my computer, maybe someone can tell me why I'm having this problem.
    Creative MediaSource Player version 3.30.35
    CDRW dri've HL-DT-ST CDRW/DVD GCC 4482 (supported by NTI)
Sound Card Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced HD audio Revision .00
Any info would be greatly appreciated... Thanks

I'll try to explain..Prior to trying to run the cd burner plugin, I'd been using the MediaSource player for weeks with no problems at all.. After trying to run the plugin a couple of problems seemed to occur, (st) while trying to create playlists I would get an error message stating that the program must shut down, this happened several times within about an hour.. (2nd) I turned my computer on today and discover that almost all of my MP3 files were no longer in my MediaSource library (about 4000 of them). I had to re-install them... I think my problems listed above are related to trying to run the plugin but I'm not sure. Any thoughts as to what else may be causing the problems? Hope you can understand my ramblings. Thanks....

  • Creative CD Burner Plugin 5.01

    Hello,
I've been trying to update my Creative Organizer(5.0.38) to the Cd Burner Plugin 5.0.3 for awhile now, but it always stops, saying, "Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system". I have a muvo n200(micro). I've tried updating with the n200 connected & tried without it connected, but to no avail. What should I do to get the updated installed? Thanx in advance.

  • Where is the burn and dodge tool in elements 12?

Where is the burn and dodge tool in elements 12??

Should be like version 11.  It is on the left in Expert.  Look in the Enhance block.  It can show up as Dodge,
    Burn or Sponge.

  • Dodge and burn plugin, how good is it?

Can some of you that are using the new dodge and burn plugin share some of your experiences. In the tutorial it looks pretty basic, direct and easy to perform. Also it seems pretty close to what I've been doing for the last 25 years in my b/w darkroom. I wonder if someone can say something about it's performance and the results, also on black and white images. How good is it? Could I leave PS out of my workflow as far as this tool is concerned? Thanks.

I've used this plugin many times and really like it especially for knocking down a distracting part or all of the background. I haven't used it so far on B&W images although I shoot quite a bit of B&W. I've found a couple of things - (1) be very careful about the strength setting because at 100% it's dead black and (2) I tend to use the Feathering once I've got my dodge or burn about where I want it. I'll open the brush size and with about a medium strength I'll "dust" the whole area I've worked. The feathering seems to blend everything so you don't have any harsh spots. The feathering does tend to add a small amount of "dodge" to what you've done so you may have to go back and redo the area(s). I would liken this to using a "pantyhose frame" rather than a paddle in the darkroom days. You remember that trick I'm sure. I don't have any reason to believe it won't work as well on B&W. I have found the eraser can save some work if you get a little heavy on the strength setting. Finally, I tend to take a long look at the work in full screen before I hit the save button - although you can go back into the Edit with Dodge and Burn and redo areas until you get what you want. Play with it and I think you'll agree it's a valuable tool.
