I have videora and i want to put movies on my ipod but I cant find the right dvd ripper tool. I dont know where to find it. Can someone give me a link so i can download it?

Where is the DVD Studio Pro User's Manual????

I just bought Final Cut Pro 6 Upgrade and NO user's manual for anything other than Final Cut Pro. Does anyone know why they don't include anything other than a PDF of the owner's manuals for Motion, DVD Studio, etc. And where can you buy a hard copy of the DVD Studio manual? Nobody wants to read 655 pages off of a computer screen.

I bought a movie on bestbuy.com and it shipped friday via Mail Express. I was wondering where it shipped from as tracking is not available yet for my item. Do they ship from MN?
I am in the Cleveland, OH area and was wondering when should I expect it, as I have to leave for an overseas trip and would like to take my movie with me.

Well, there are various warehouses all over the country, so really, your DVD could have shipped from any of them. However, from what I've seen, we have one warehouse that typically ships out of Ohio (not 100% sure where, but it is in Ohio). I may be there, it may be coming from California. Without looking at your order, it'd be hard to tell for sure.
If you're concerned about if it's going to make it to you in time, I'd call 888 BESTBUY, give them your order number, and they'd be able to track your order for you and find out, at the very least, how close it is to getting to you.
Don't take what I say as being absolute. There's always room for improvement.

These new options you speak of are called Job Actions. You access those options after you add a source clip to the batch window. Job Actions can then be customized in the Inspector.

Where are the DVD menu templates?

Purchased Compressor 4 today and am so far quite underwhelmed.
One of the features on the Apple product page is "Choose from a set of menu templates to create basic Blu-ray discs or DVDs". All I see are two templates: the basic "black" and "white" templates that also ship with FCPX - simple title, single video, optional streched/clipped background image, optional chapter menu. No sound/etc.
Granted, a set can contain zero or more items, so the Apple statement is truthful that these two templates are a "set" ... but sure seems misleading, implying that we would have more than two choices.
Anyone know if there is any ability to create or add more DVD menu templates to Compressor 4 / FCPX?
[I'm one of many struggling with iDVD as my only disk burning option, since I've moved from Final Cut Express, which did not include DVD Studio Pro and Apple has not unbundled that product ... so FCPX users have very limited options for standalone DVD authoring programs.]

Only 2 for SD DVD, there's several for Blu Ray.
There is a place to find them, but you'd be hard pressed to figure out how to decifer them.

Where's the DVD on the new Mac mini?

I'm all for going digital, but killing the CD/DVD drive in the new 2011 Mac Mini at this point is insane!
I had an old 2009 Mac Mini used as a media center/ living room PC and was looking forward to upgrading it, but alas Apple won't be getting my cash now.
I have over 200 DVD films - how on earth am I supposed to play those now?
And please don't tell me to use iTunes cause I am not about to re-purchase digital copies of all my DVDs all over again.
And no buying an external DVD drive is not a solution either - it totally kills the one piece design of the Mini...

I'm in luck, I think. I have a Belkin hub made to sit under a Mini. It came with an optional power supply.
A USB hub still may only provide 500mA. It's up to the hub manufacturer whether they want to go "over spec." IOW, still no guarantee.
How about using a powered SATA/USB adapter with a SATA internal drive? Would that work with a Mini?
It depends on the adapter. Some SATA-to-USB adapters have a power supply that only powers the SATA adapter. Most good quality external drive enclosures will supply power to the SATA drive as well, so no issue with USB supplied power. As far as the Mac is concerned, it's a USB drive. The Mac doesn't care how you got the drive to connect to USB.
IOW, don't go cheap. But if you're going through the trouble of building such a drive with an adapter, you've probably spent as much money as just buying a pre-built external drive, or even the Apple drive, which will then have support from Apple. (e.g.: you have trouble in the future and you have Apple techs blaming the 3rd party drive and the drive techs blaming the adapter and the adapter techs blaming the drive. With the Apple drive, you only have to deal with Apple techs blaming themselves. )

Where's the "System Temp" probe? (K8T-Neo)

Where is the "system temp" probe located, and what does this measure? I've seen other posts asking this question and I can't see a definitive answer.
The reason I ask is this:
I've got a nice copper Zalman heatsink that keeps my cpu cool, around 30 idle and 40-45 under load. The "system temperature" is always hotter than the cpu, at least 40 and can get up to 50. I stick my hand in the case and the air is no where near that hot, so I figure its reading the temp of some chip on the board, ie the northbridge (ok I know its not really the nb, but lets just call it that.)
I stuck a 4cm fan on the stock passive nb heatsink and this had very little affect on the "system temp." So either that temp probe is not on the nb or the stock heatsink is just lame. Anyone got any ides?
Another question --- what does the V-Link DATA 2X bios setting do? I've read that enabling it greatly improves "system performance." But when I disable the SATA controller (as I have no SATA drives) the V-Link option becomes greyed-out, like the v-link only has to do with SATA. Does it affect anything if I'm not using SATA?

The Winbond chip at top of board above Dimms and Bios monitors the temp, if there is hot air coming from the HDD bays, as chip is right under end of drive as a rule, just where all the cables and things are most likely to interupt air flow. it can affect the temps. Its a good idea to direct air from a fan to that point.

HT2499 How do I find the DVD remote control and restart my DVD where I left off?

Hello. I have the external disc player. When I inserted a DVD the first time, the movie started automatically and the DVD remote control came to the screen. However, I had to shut down before I finished watching the movie. I kept the disc drive plugged in and the DVD inside. Now I don't know how/where to find the DVD remote control to restart the movie as it doesn't start automatically without me unplugging the whole thing and restarting it from the beginning.

Thank-you, Eric. No, it was when the movie was stopped and I had actually turned off the computer for the night. I played around on it a lot and kept googling. I think the way is to launch finder and search DVD player. The remote came up then! Don't know if there's an easier way but I'm happy to restart my movie now. When you play a movie the thing i like about the xfi soundcard is a small feature that creative introuced it tells me the audio stream its playing (an icon at the bottom near the clock) and it only displays for a few seconds.
Most moi'ves i brough advertise Dolby digital EX or DTS ES. When i play them i find mostly the creative decoder tells me otherwise. The creative decoder identifies the stream and displays it at the bottom and i find that most movies that advertise the DTS ES or DD EX are not Dolby digital EX or DTS ES but just dolby digital 5. or DTS 5.. The only movies i have so far that are dolby digital EX are starwars episode 5 and 6 (despite ,2,3 and 4 claim to be but not), the punisher, and the only DTS 6. so far is top gun (my movie collection is small as well). but unless the creative decoder is identiftying the audio streams wrong which i doubt i so far. only some of my movies state the correct audio stream on the dvd.
Have a look at the icon that appears when playing the movie and see if it says either dolby digital, dolby digital ex, dts surround or dts surround es, if its displays either Dolby Digital EX or DTS Surround ES then they are 6. streams if they are not then they are 5. which might be why your not hearing anything out the back speaker.Message Edited by Stargazer on 0-06-2006 :5 AM

The start chapter button is a play the whole movie button regardless of how many other markers you have.
Once a DVD starts playing it continues to the end.
Chapters marker simply gives the viewer a place to start playback whether it be the start, middle or near the end.

The new Macbook Pros do not come with installation or operating system disks.
If you are using Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows in Mountain Lion, read and follow the installation instructions. Downloading the Windows support software is one of the first options in the Boot Camp Assistant memu. There is no Mountain Lion disk containing the support software.
