Where is the equivelant of favourites in firefox versus IE

I am new to firefox, always used IE. Question, where is the equivelant of favourites bar in firefox, is it called something different. I changed to firefox because of several problems with IE9.

In Firefox, they are called Bookmarks. There is a Bookmarks menu, a Bookmarks sidebar, and a Bookmarks toolbar. If you tap the Alt key to display the classic menu bar, you can display/hide the sidebar and the toolbar from the full View menu.

  • Where are the downloaded files saved in Firefox Andriod App?

    I have downloaded quite a few PDF files throught firefox app but now I can't find where they are please help.

    Hi Arsalan_Azhar,
    Firefox does not use the native Android download manger. It uses its own. The download folder is /sdcard/download/.

  • Where are the authentication passwords stored in Firefox?

    I created a web site which was set up with a password and I have forgotten it.
    When using the URL it requires authentication the field has dots so password must be stored somewhere in Firefox but where?
    Peter

    It is quite possible that this website displays those dots (bullets) as some default place holder if they appear in the password field.
    Does Firefox fill a user name as well?
    You can inspect and manage the saved passwords here:
    *Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

  • Where is the latest STABLE version of Firefox?

    I want the latest STABLE version of Firefox. I'm not interested in BETA versions. But, Mozilla is doing a good job of hiding the latest stable version and forcing customers into its ever-changing unstable Beta system. Can anyone tell me which version of Firefox is the newest STABLE version; and where can I find it? Thank you for your assistance!

    If you are getting updates in Firefox to a Beta build (of 34.0bx) then you installed what was one of the Beta builds of a version in past (to be on Beta channel) and not a Release before. There are on average six to twelve Beta builds for a version with nine being the average in last while.
    '''on www.mozilla.org only the current Release is served''' as you would have to go out of way to a page that serves Beta builds to then download them. Mozilla would never force people to use one of the Beta builds for a version instead of Release.
    The current Beat build of a version is only on and is clear it is not the Release.
    https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/channel/#beta
    https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/beta/all/
    Firefox 34.0 is scheduled for release on November 25.

  • Where is the cookie exception list in Firefox 17.0.1

    i'm looking for the cookie exception list that seems to have moved in later versions. I'm having trouble with Facebook and yahoo mail in that Firefox is showing those sites in frames. If I reset Firefox it works fine, but I am tiring of resetting it twice a day to read my email. It was suggested to add these sites to the cookies exception list - except that it's not where it used to be.

    Hi,
    You can try setting '''Firefox will:''' to '''Use custom settings for history''' in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Options''' > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window%20-%20Privacy%20panel?as=u Privacy] to reveal the '''Exceptions''' button.

  • Where is the "Manage" Bookmarks option in Firefox 19.0.2 so I can rename or delete a folder?

    I have tried the "wheel" icon to manage / delete/ rename the bookmark folders as the tutorial suggests but it will not allow me to select the "delete" option (I can see "delete", won't work ) and it offers no option for renaming folders. Before I could right click on the title and then rename but now nothing works.
    I have Firefox 19.0.2 on a iMac

    Hi timinftl, could you spell out in more details the parts that aren't working?
    * Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks?
    * Ctrl + Shift +b?
    * right-click menu in the Library dialog?
    * et cetera

  • Where is the menu (setting) access to firefox.

    Is this a joke?????
    I spend almost an hour just to find setting access of firefox.
    Device, Nexus 10 Stock rom with Gravity box. I disabled navigation bar but have pie control, which has a menu button. But it doesn't work for firefox. The button work for other applications to bring up settings.
    I read several threads here but can't find any mysterious silver buttons.
    This is completely ridiculous.

    Firefox for Android checks whether your device has a menu button. For example, pre-ICS devices usually had such a button, and Samsung still uses them.
    If that button is not found, an icon of 3 stacked dots/bars should appear on the right end of the address bar. That's the menu button. Does it appear? Does it work?

  • Where is the folder that contains my Firefox bookmarks?

    I'm new to Windows 7. With IE, I can see/add to the Favorites by locating the Favorites folder in Windows Explorer. I cannot find a similar file that contains my Firefox bookmarks. It would be handy for transferring bookmarks from an old computer to a new one.

    Thank you for your help. I was hoping to find a folder that I could open and view, but the .json filename doesn't allow that. In looking around, I did learn about Firefox Sync for sharing bookmarks between computers, so I think I found a way to do what I need, as long as the old computer is still functional (which mine wasn't for a while).
    I appreciate your quick response and help. Thanks again.

  • Where is the icon for my email?

    I use outlook express but where is the icon for it?

    Firefox does not have one. You can add an icon to open the email program of your choice by using the [http://webdesigns.ms11.net/getmail.html Get Mail] add-on.

    Where is the bookmarks stored?
    I Install the Firefox once again since I upgrade my computer.
    And I try to move the bookmarks from the old computer to the new one.
    But I can't find anyone of them.
    Is there any folder just like "favourite" to store the html file?
    I really want to find out the bookmarks because actually i can't remember all the website that are important to me~ URGENT!!!~THANKS~

    You can move file named places.sqlite from your old profile to the new one. It contains bookmarks and browsing history.
    Here's a knowledge base article about it: [[Recovering important data from an old profile]]
    If you don't care about saving your current bookmarks, you can skip creating new profile (Firefox does it by itself at first run anyway).
    I'd might suggest you to install addon https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2410/|Xmarks Bookmark and Password Sync]. It is a free web service which synchronizes bookmarks and (optionally) passwords with central server, and then to other computers, if you installed it on more. You may treat is as a backup too.

  • Where did the quality of Firefox go ?

    I have been using firefox since it came out. Right after Netscape in fact. It had just about always been a light weight browser. Fast and it worked. Very few glitches. But over the past few versions, the quality has gone down hill. Why ? Whom ever is in charge of it, has lost focus. Please solve the glitches. There are graphical glitches as well as download glitches. Actually there are a lot of glitches that are even memory related. And I have read post after post, with not one of these problems getting fixed. I have even posted questions, and I get the same exact response every time "please reset in safe mode" ... "shut your anti-virus off" ... and one time I even got the response "get chrome, its better". Seriously ? has firefox gotten this bad that we all have to resort to chrome ? I can't stand chrome. But if one were to sit back and look at firefox, its JUST LIKE CHROME ! I don't not like the looks of or the direction of Firefox because its like the developers prefer chrome. ???? #$%#$%?#$?%#?$%
    I know about forcing us firefox users to have to CHANGE our settings to go back to the old style, but with each new update, it resets and you just get tired of doing that. WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TOO ! I loved firefox the way it WAS. But now with all this bloated crap that is getting installed into Firefox lately, its no longer viable as a good choice between the major browsers. It's pathetic that i am being forced to have to go to chrome because it can handle more then 2 tabs open without falling apart. I'm very disappointed in Mozollia team. It's like they don't care anymore. The Quality is gone.
    I know I am ranting here, but dang it, I have been waiting for even half these bugs to get fixed for the past 8 version updates. All I am seeing is more "features" and not enough fixes. The graphical tab glitches, the lock ups, all because of something gone wrong with these past updates. I have even seen people complain about it in the forums here. Like I said, even I posted a problem about the failed downloads. And people tried the usual responses. but apparently no one has a clue whats really going on with firefox because its become too bloated. I said it once and I'll repeat it.. The Quality in Firefox is gone.
    If I get banned or this post gets censored, it just goes to show whats been happening to firefox lately.

    <blockquote>
    What are the graphical glitches? The most common cause of pixels ending up having the wrong content is an incompatibility with your graphics card/chipset driver software. As newer versions of Firefox turn on new graphical features, these keep cropping up because the beta test program doesn't represent the full diversity of systems used by Firefox users. I don't see any solution to that, but we deal with this all the time, so let us know/see your symptoms and then we can make suggestions.</blockquote>
    I am using latest Graphics drivers from NVidia. I have the GTX 680 with 2 Gigs ram. My friend has the AMD R9 ( I don't recall which one ) and he has the same problem. This problem has existed for the past several updates. Also, I am not using anything beta, I am using the releases that are from firefox only. If they send me an update I update because usually updates are about security. Which I am for that and its something I respect about firefox in general.
    An example of the graphical glitch is when you open a tab, the graphics won't update to let you see the new tab. I have my settings set that if I open a new tab it will automatically switch to the other newly opened tab. I see the new tab open, and I can see that it is the newly current shown tab. But the "info" inside that tab does not update. Sometimes the tab itself messes up and it won't completely draw itself. This is the graphical glitches I see. This happens even if I have no plugins loaded. I have spent the last several versions trying to solve this. Updating drivers.. etc etc. It all boils down to firefox.
    <blockquote>
    Can you describe what you're running into more specifically? </blockquote>
    I have an desktop toolbar that tells me what memory usage is. Firefox has a tendency to raise the memory to the max 20 gigs I have on my computer. ( Yes I have 20 gigs System ram on this Quad Xeon computer system ) Keep in mind, it does this randomly, and at random websites. This is not a constant occurrence and difficult to reproduce. However, after a lot of observation, I am starting to believe it has to do with websites that have flash installed and I do not have flash installed. I do not like flash. I use HTML5 if the website offers it. Which most of the time it does. I watch a lot of youtube videos. Come to think of it, it is possible that videos are the issue here and the HTML5 side of it is the problem. I love HTML5, don't get me wrong, but in Firefox it may not be completely working yet.
    This is my thinking at least, I could be completely off here on this.
    <blockquote>
    Firefox should not reset its UI after updates. Only extensions incompatible with a new version should be disabled, and their configuration data should be preserved so that you can update the extension and be back where you were. If you are losing settings after an update, it's possible that the "Refresh" feature is running. Have you noticed a new or growing "Old Firefox Data" folder on your desktop?
    </blockquote>
    Yea, for the past several updates, it keeps resetting everything when I run an update. So I am forced to "fix" it back and I had given up after this latest update. I am just using the default because I see no point anymore. Too old and tired to fight this. Whatever happened to simplicity like back in the 70s and 80s when stuff just ran and it worked. Netscape was my fave in the late 90s and then when firefox came out I fell in love again. Now.. I'm loosing my love... It's why I posted this message, I am frustrated and I am ranting in the hopes that someone gets the hint to please please please, don't loose the quality that firefox was known for.

  • Where is the file that creates the mozilla firefox start page found?

    I like the Firefox start page but want to tweak it a bit. Where can I gain access to the file? I am using Firefox 29.0.1
    Thanks

    In the omni.ja file in Firefox Program Files. Open '''about:home''' then right-click and select View Page Source. The path to the aboutHome.xhtml file is in the titlebar. <br />
    The problem with editing that file is that every 6 weeks when Firefox is updated you'll probably have to edit that file all over again.
    What specifically do you want to tweak? <br />
    Additions or changes can usually be accomplished thru a userContent.css file, for most things. <br />
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserContent.css
    For instance - hide the "snippet" and hide the "bar" at the bottom with Downloads, Bookmarks, etc :
    <pre><nowiki>@-moz-document url(about:home) {
    #snippetContainer { display:none !important; }
    @-moz-document url(about:home){
    #launcher { display: none !important; }
    </nowiki></pre>
