Where is the Floating Align Palette in InDesign CC?

In past versions, there was a floating align palette where options like fixed gap could be selected.
I cannot seem to find this paletee, all I have is the standar option in the upper bar, that bar doesnt have the same gap aligment option that the floating bar had.

Where is the vertical type tool in InDesign CC 2014???

Thanks. Yes, I had referred to that InDesign Secrets post before posting my question. Thus my question about table. Still dont know why my insert table command is greyed out. The stairstep method doesnt work with my narrow spine and decorative, non-monospace font, as explained in exchange here with Bob Levine. And downloading the CJK version for this single, simple task is just too much trouble. The individual text frames proved the fastest solution.

  • Where are the paragraph style tools in Indesign CC2014?

Hi! I've just started using Id through Creative Cloud on a new computer (have been using CC CS6 for two years), and the installer gave me CC2014 rather than CS6. So this is a question only about CC2014.
Where has the paragraph styles window gone? Specifically, how can I edit, create and organise paragraph styles, and how can I get a window up on the main screen with all the styles laid out? All these things were easy to find in CS6, but I can't track them down in CC2014. The only thing I get (and that with a bit of customization). is a drop-down menu in the main toolbar, which allows me to choose from existing options on an existing document.
There is no Paragraph Styles option under Windows>Styles.
There is no Paragraph Styles option under Type.
The only Paragraph window which appears is designed for editing text as you go along, not for applying styles.
The Help options all point me back to the entry for CS6, and tell me to go to Type>Paragraph Styles (which doesn't exist).
I can't get a window up on the main screen to apply styles instantly from a list. I only get that dropdown menu, which has no further options.
Can anyone either point me to some up-to-date guidelines or explain where all the paragraph options have gone and how I can use them? Alternatively, can I revert to CS6? This was easy and intuitive before, and now it's neither...
    Thanks!

Yes, that did it. All the old menu options have reappeared. I don't know why they were hidden in the first place - these were things I never needed to set up on either of my previous computers.
    Thank you very much!

  • Where is the Align Image to Text in DW6 that was in Properties before in DW 5.5

    From CS5.5 - DW 5.5 Help
    Align an image
You can align an image to text, another image, a plug‑in, or other elements in the same line. You can also set the horizontal alignment of an image.
Where is this in DW 6. It use to be on the Properties panel and when you clicked the picture the option to align and set padding H & V became available.
What did they do with it. Where did it go?
    Help.
    P.S. CS6 on a Mac  - OS 10.7.4
    thanks, Jim
P.S.S. I went through the Reference PDF for DW6 and it says that the Align pulldown is suppose to show up when you highlight-Click a picture. In my software, it is not thee in the properties panel like it use to be. I can not get it to show up. In the picture they show, it does not show the Align but the instructions says it's suppose to be there.
Any Ideas. I've gone through all the preferences and just can't figure out why I can't see the Align pulldown and the H & V Padding like in all the other version of DW.

The Align, H, V, and Border fields were removed from the Images Property inspector in Dreamweaver CS6 because they insert attributes that were deprecated in HTML more than ten years ago, and are no longer valid in HTML5.
Dreamweaver now expects you to use CSS to control these aspects of images. If, for any reason, you don't want to use CSS, those attributes can still be inserted using the Tag Inspector panel or directly in Code view using code hints.

  • Where are the .joboptions stored on a Mac for InDesign CC?

Where are the .joboptions stored on a Mac for InDesign CC?
I put them in the usual directory:      /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings   .  .  . but they are not seen by InDesign CC.
. . . Photoshop, Illustrator, Distiller and Acrobat are seeing my custom profiles and any default profiles I removed are not there for those apps.
Even older versions of all these apps and InDesign 6 and 5 see my custom profiles.
But InDesign CC only shows the ones shown in the screen shot below:  (High Quality, the PDF/X versions[3], Press and Smallest size)
I know I can probably do a "Load" profile, but that's not the point and I need to remove the default profiles.
I'm in a multiple user environment and need to lock down the use of profiles to our companies select few.
Did a thorough search of the entire Mac and PDF/X- does not even show up.   Any suggestions?     Anyone?    I'm scratchin'  my head at this point.

      This was the correct answer:
Laubender     Jun 2, 2014 12:18 AM  (in response to Maurice Castelbuono)
@Maurizio – the standard settings, the joboption files with the brackets like [PDF/X-1a:2001] are stored inside the inDesign app for InDesign CC 9.2.1.
The path for these would be:
    /Applications/Adobe InDesign CC.app/Contents/MacOS/Resources/Adobe PDF/settings/mul
or with a Japanese version of InDesign:
    /Applications/Adobe InDesign CC.app/Contents/MacOS/Resources/Adobe PDF/settings/japan
If you do a right-click on the InDesign app you can show them with "Show Package Contents" options.
All other PDF joboptions that you are creating are relative to your current User Library. They are stored in:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings
Where the tilde sign at the beginning indicates the home of the currently used user.
You can access ~/Library, if you press the alt key when accessing the "Go To" menu in the Finder. Otherwise it's invisible.

  • Where's the "InDesign" of web design?

Where's the app that behaves and works like InDesign? Why is it, we have to rethink and relearn every $*%&^ thing when it comes to making webpages and sites?
I want master pages. Text boxes with columns. A style pallete that ACTUALLY works like a freakin' styles pallete. Pantone spot color to rgb conversion built-in, just like every freakin' designer has used for the last 15 years.
Yeah, I can do all that crap by hand, but shouldn't have to.
I know how to code. I can write markup and javascript in my SLEEP. But by now I shouldn't HAVE TO. I'm so sick of being handed spoons and chisels when what I really want is a backhoe and jackhammer.

You may be thinking of QuarkXPress.

  • Where is the indesign cc (2013) installer now?

Anyone know where is the indesign cc (2013) install it's not in the cloud drop down?!
I need to install on my laptop to take away in the next 2 hours.
I do not want to install 2014 and have any compatibility problems.
This new version and dual Apps is seriously the biggest screwup Apdobe have ever made.  Their lovely sleek CC 'suite' is now just FUBAR.

Make sure you’ve got the newest version of the Creative Cloud application
In the CC app there’s the part "new apps", (below the already installed applications).
Right to the header there’s the option "filters & versions"
    > select "previous versions" there
    > the install button now gives you options for all app versions
(I don’t know what exactly the options are named in English, but I guess you can find it that way)

  • Where is the Layers palette with DIV custom names?

    Hello!
Where is the Layers palette with DIV custom names and Z orders? Wy in last update we don't have one?
I think in Ideas area many people request this feature.
    Thanks

The default location for the Layers panel is in the lower right of the Editor (while in Full Edit mode).
If you don't see it, it may have been hidden or minimized. Try going to the Window menu at the top and select Layers from the list. This should unhide or maximize the panel.

  • Third Party Plug-in for Multiple Swatch Palettes in InDesign

    Hello,
Does anyone know if there is a third-party plug in to have multiple swatch palettes in InDesign? I would like to create different palettes for different sections of the long document --- scrolling through all of the swatches each time is cumbersome.
    Many thanks!
    Jessica W.

Here's a little trick that may not even require a third party plugin
    On the Master Page
Create a bunch of rectangles, colour them with all the swatch colours you need, make as many pallettes as you like.
    Then group them together
    Create a text frame
Insert the group as anchored objects
Alignment make it away from spine (so it's always way out to the right or left)
Then Move the text frame over so that it encroaches on the page.
duplicate the frame and put it on the other side too.
Now all your pages have palletes of colour beside them. And you can use the Eye Dropper to sample the colours.

  • Align palette is blank even with two or more objects selected

    InDesign CS3 (5.0.2), Mac OS 10.4.10
In InDesign, I will click on two or more ungrouped objects that need to be aligned, and get only a blank align palette. In the tool bar atop, sometimes the align options are showing, sometimes they disappear when I click a second or different object.
I have trashed my preferences twice since I first experienced the problem.
I did not have any align palette problems in CS2. Please advise.
    Thanks!

Upgrade to 10.4.11? Open and close the palette? Undock and redock with surrounding palettes?

  • Can any one tell me how actually the backspase is handeld in indesign

I actually wanted to know what actually happens when we press backspace in indesign, because when i apply a third party font its not handelling the backspace. When i type anything and if that character is gets a half attached character then my controll floats from current posiotion to the end of line and starts typing in any manner it wants.....! If possible please tell me why does indesign uses Unicode character for backspace i.e. it uses 'U+0008' this unicode value as input when i press backspace, but if i replace that character i/p with any other caracter it comes very fine bt backspace is not working. Is there any other value for backspace? or it uses any other value to represent backspace. We know that a backspace is having ASCII value as '08' bt this is not working....!

You are confusing the function backspace and the code for backspace.
"Backspace The Function" deletes the character on the left of the cursor (on the right, in RTL languages). The function is usually called by pressing the backspace key, but this does not really 'send' a Backspace Code to the program. (It has way more layers, some from InDesign -- a custom shortcut key, for example --, some from the keyboard hardware, some from the keyboard driver, and some from the underlying OS. But it's all handled internally, no Unicode involved.)
"Backspace The Code" has code point U+0008, but Adobe decided not to allow this as an inputtable character (for which you would have to press the Backspace key). It would also be useless, because fonts don't usually have a character with code U+0008.
So the code U+0008 is 'free', as far as InDesign is concerned, and Adobe assigned another function to this code: Right Align Tab. I think that's what you are seeing here: if you forcibly insert the "code" U+0008 into your text, either with a script, or with search-and-replace, the Right Align Tab appears.
What you should use to get a 'backspace' effect depends in its entirety on what you are doing now, and what you are trying to achieve. If you tried to remove a character by "replacing" it with backspace ... that simply is Not How It Works.
