Where is the folder that contains my Firefox bookmarks?

I'm new to Windows 7. With IE, I can see/add to the Favorites by locating the Favorites folder in Windows Explorer. I cannot find a similar file that contains my Firefox bookmarks. It would be handy for transferring bookmarks from an old computer to a new one.

Thank you for your help. I was hoping to find a folder that I could open and view, but the .json filename doesn't allow that. In looking around, I did learn about Firefox Sync for sharing bookmarks between computers, so I think I found a way to do what I need, as long as the old computer is still functional (which mine wasn't for a while).
I appreciate your quick response and help. Thanks again.

I recently changed jobs and no longer have access to the computer that contained my Firefox bookmarks. I don't have a Firefox profile. Is there any way to find and transfer my bookmarks to my new computer?

If you don't have access to the old computer any longer, '''no'''. Unless you were using something like the Google Toolbar & Google Bookmarks or Xmarks, which would have your bookmarks in an online account that you could access. Firefox doesn't include an online storage feature for personal data, yet. That is coming in a future version.
If you have a friend at your old job maybe they have access to that old PC and they could export your bookmarks to a file and email that file to you.

  • Where is the file that contains info on previous session info on a Mac?

Where is the file that contains info on previous session info on a Mac? I would like to restore several windows and tabs I had open earlier, but the restore previous session menu item does not appear to be available. I had to install and use an older version of Firefox (3.6) to access a website (Fedtraveler.com) that is not compatible with Firefox 6 and is seems to have cleared out the previous session information. I thought I would use Mac OSX Time machine feature to restore the Firefox file where this the previous session info is kept but I don't know what it is called nor how to find it.

That is the file sessionstore.js in the Firefox Profile Folder.

  • Where is the file that contains my contacts ?

Hi ...  Where is the file that contains my contacts ?  I want to restore my contacts from a CrashPlan previous backup ?

It's worth a try anyway, in the worst case = an error from Contacts being unable to read the database, you can simply delete the restored files again.
In such case, or even as a first step, you may try to use the "Import..." procedure by pointing to a *.abcddb database file from your backup.
Hint: Before system upgrades presenting me with new versions of Contacts or Calendar, I always backup my databases separately as well per "Export..." in archive format. No trouble so far.

  • In my collection I have 500 pictures. In the folder that contains those pictures I have 1000. How do I get the ACTUAL folder to ONLY have the 500 that are in the collection?

In other words, I want to delete (from my computer) the 500 pictures that are in the folder that are NOT in the collection .....?

I'll try and make it clearer ... I appreciate the help!
I have a folder on my computer labeled "Wedding Photos."
I imported that into Lightroom. It had 1000 photos
Once I imported it, I made a collection called "Wedding" and put those 1000
    photos into the collection.
Then, in the collection, I went through the process of marking the photos.
I marked 500 as rejected. But instead of deleting them COMPLETELY from
Lightroom AND the hard drive, I only deleted them from the LR catalog.
So, now I have a collection "Wedding" with 500 photos and a folder "Wedding
    Photos" with 1000 photos.
I only want the 500 photos in the "Wedding Photos" FOLDER.
Two things ... first, if you use Lightroom to move the un-rejected photos from "Wedding Photos" to some other folder, then you have remaining in the "Wedding Photos" folder only those photos which were rejected and deleted from Lightroom, but not deleted from the hard disk.
Secondly, there is absolutely no reason to import all the photos from a folder and then create a collection with the exact same photos. This is redundant. It is extra work for no benefit. Since the folder and collection now contain exactly the same 1000 photos, you only need the folder. Anything you want to do with these photos can be done from the folder, as if the collection didn't exist (which it shouldn't in this case).

  • Where is the file that contains the folder view setting?

I know this questions been asked before but I can't find it and cant remember the answer. There is directory file that holds all the file and folder setting and if a persons deletes it, essentially all the files and folder view setting revert back to default view, which is a white back ground and icon view. I can't remember enough the name of the file to know for sure I am getting the right one, could some please quickly refresh my memory for me. I would appreciate it, Thanks Gf.

I believe that that info is stored in the .DS_Store file in the relevant folder. Since it's invisible, you can either use one of the tricks to make the Mac show invisible files (Google will help you there), or you can use the Terminal. To delete it, in the Terminal, type "cd" (minus the quotes), then a space, then drop the folder in question on the Terminal window and hit return. Then type "rm .DS_Store".

  • Iphoto Library - where is the folder that the pics are actually kept in?

OK...I was looking for a picture to use as a profile pic for facebook (and I was doing the same for another application one day but can't remember which one) and when you want to choose a picture from the finder (under pictures)....all you get is iphoto library (or photobooth - which is not what I am looking for)...that's it...you can't click it to open it and see the pictures in it. What is the proper folder to find your pictures in to upload this way without dragging the pic to the desktop and then deleting it after you use it?

    Kat2007
There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
To upload to MySpace or any site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you're using a Cocoa-based browser such as Safari you can drag photos from the iPhoto Window to the browser's attach window.
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves. If you're willing to risk database corruption, you can restore the older functionality simply by right clicking on the iPhoto Library and choosing 'Show Package Contents'. Then simply make an alias to the folders you require and put that alias on the desktop or where ever you want it. Be aware though, that this is a hack and not supported by Apple.

  • Where is the file that contains the addresses from the Mavericks Contacts app?  I need to synch two such files between computers.

I've been using Synchronise Pro X for years to sync several key work folders between a desktop machine (iMac) and my MacBook Pro.  Having just upgraded both computers to Mavericks, things still worked, but the file scaning in SyncPro was very slow, so I upgraded to the latest version of Synchronise....   Now I've noticed that I cannot find the data files for what used to the Address Book program (and is now called Contacts) on either computer.  Where are those files kept, as is there any reason that I would not be able to sync them?

I'll try iCloud, although I'm not happy with sharing my address book with Apple.  Is there a secure way to do this? Also, when I tried to use iCloud to share Notes across my phone and the two Macs, I ended up with duplicate copies.  Will that also happen with the contact list?

  • Where is the folder that stores emails on my Imac

My Mail on my iMac has over 43,00 emails in it and I wondered how best to clean this up as my machine is not liking it!

You use the Mail app to delete unwanted messages. FWIW, they're stored in /Users/username/Library/Mail/ either under the account's name or Mailboxes, but I don't recommend mucking around in that folder.

They want all the money for no effort .. they turn open source into broken source ...

Occasionally my computer seems to go off on a frolic of its own - lights on, whirring, very slow to respond to my instructions, etc. Recently I noticed a message in the bottom right corner of my screen along the lines 'Choose what I share' There was an explanation that Mozilla sent Firefox information [or vice versa] and a claim this somehow made my life better. I thought I would choose what I share but the message disappeared and I have been unable to find the relevant page.
Please advise where is the page that lets me choose what I share with Mozilla / Firefox is.

If you use the input/feedback button the information you send will be public, but that is the point of sending it.
That is were you send short comments about Firefox. More than one way of doing this:
    * a button on the browser
    * the ''[Suggestion Box]'' option on some of these pages
    * or the link

[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crash_%28computing%29 Crashes] are when Firefox suddenly breaks and stops working entirely. If you are lucky it may restart again but it may continue to crash or be totally unusable.
[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_bug Bugs] in this context are the discussions by the experts fixing or modifying Firefox, often initiated by a bug report from an end user.
If you need help with your crash Mozilla needs some techie information about the crash before they can do anything about it or help you.

How to import photos from a folder that contains hundreds of folders to Photos keeping the same folder structure?

You'll have to do that manually, i.e. export each album of photos to a folder with the same name located on your hard drive via  the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option.
