Where is the Getting Started page in Acrobat 9?

I seem to be missing the Getting Started page in Acrobat 9 that has all the project types that pops up when you first start Acrobat. Acrobat 8 had this, but now when I run Acrobat 9, I just get Acrobat 9 with menus and toolbars only. Is this something that was removed from 9?

How do I stop Firefox from opening the Getting Started page - tried many things already!

Each time I start Firefox it does two things:
1 - It checks plugin compatibility.
2 - It opens the Getting Started Page.
I have just installed the latest 8.0.1. version.
I run on Windows7 Ultimate.
Have not used Firefox for a year due to this with previous version doing the same.
Have tried all support recommendations: closing tabs, saving etc.
Surprised to see no one else with these issues and no support?

? I opened the "get started" page and "How to edit a photo-" but I just see a big black box and some text and no way to work with anything. I downloaded the photos and opened them and there they are.

Yes those are supposed to be videos. I can see them now. These videos are hosted on Youtube. Some people have experienced temporary issues but later have been able to view the videos. I suggest coming back and trying again, or try another browser.

How to post a XCelsius in the BPC Web Application Getting Started page

Hi Experts,
I'm new using BPC 7.5 on NetWeaver. When opening the Getting Started tab in the BPC Web Application there is a white page that I would want to fill with content. This content should be a XCelsius Dashboard linked to the Query or InfoCube on which I`m planning. Creating the XCelsius Dashboard is not the problem, but to insert it in the Getting Started panel of the BPC Web application. Has anyone an idea how to do it or how to proceed. Ideas or a little how-to would be perfect.

Pages 2.0 will not get past the "getting started" screen

i just updated pages to 2.0 on ipad 2 retina (ios 7.0.2) and now i cannot open pages, it will not get past the "getting started" screen

Had the same problem. This sovled it for me:
Just let it load.
In Keynote, I didn't have so many documents, so the freeze didn't take too long- that's how I noticed it's just a freeze while loading.
For pages it took much longer. You can also turn off iCloud in settings for Pages, Keynote, etc. open it, re-enable iCloud in settings app again and quick switch back to pages (double-click home button). It will freeze up again, but after a while after all documents have been pulled from iCloud, it will be back to normal.

All-in-all, this is a pretty sophisticated piece of malware, and if neither of those links help, I'd suggest going to a forum site that is dedicated to fixing computer problems/infections and asking for some more targeted help there. It's something that is beyond my level of expertise to remove.

I keep seeing RTFM but I can't find TFM. I'm looking for the Getting Started pdf that I keep reading about but it can't find it on this site and its not on my install DVD.

Go to this page and type in "logic express" (with the quote marks). There isn't, as far as I know, a manual called Getting Started with Logic Express but you will find Reference, What's New, Plug-ins etc. The Gettign Started book is for Logic Pro but it will certainly help with the early days in Logic Express

You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]].
There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. If that works, you can try setting your homepage again to your personal preference.

I have lost the Firefox start page, so can't access the Firefox tab. I keep getting Ask, which I don't want

For some reason I have started to get a blank type page, rather than the Firefox start page when I open firefox. The blank page has no firefox tab at the top left so I cannot access any of the firefox features by the tab. Also the blank page does not show my bookmarked websites which is an inconvenience. Whenever I type in a search word, the results come up in a page of information promoted by 'Ask"'. I don't want this. I don't know how this has happened but I cannot seem to find a fix. I uninstalled firefox and then reinstalled to see if this would work, but it has not. Can someone help please.

Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

After upgrading to 8.0 the add-on compatability tool runs and the Getting Started web page loads every time the browser starts.

After upgrading to 8.0 from 7.0.1 every time I start FF I get the add-on compatibility tool to run and the Getting Started web page loads along with my homepage in separate tabs as well. So far I have tried running the installer again, disabling all add-0ns and custom settings and restarting and turning off automatic updates. Nothing worked there. I got the same behavior each time. I don't know what else to try other than a full uninstall and reinstall. Something I'd like to avoid if it's possible because of the time involved. This is the second time I have posted regarding this issue. The first time I didn't get a response. A solution or a possible workaround would be greatly appreciated if anyone knows of any. Hi michaell, thanks for the reply. I tried everything in the Preferences are not saved link you provided and nothing worked there. If creating a new profile will delete all my add-ons and custom settings I might as well just do a complete uninstall and reinstall. That actually would be easier. That article told me how to save my bookmarks though so I don't have to loose those which is nice. I don't know if this makes any difference but there is a discrepancy between the preference file in the article which is: prefs.js and what's showing on my PC which is: prefs with no .js suffix. I tried to rename the file to prefs.js and restarted. No luck there either. It just created another prefs file. I guess we've pretty much exhausted all the avenues to try! I cannot find the Firefox Start page with the Sync Set Up Link

I'm trying to get the Sync code on my android device in order to retrieve all my bookmarks from my main computer to the tablet pc. The directions on the Mozilla support site say to "Tap the Set up Firefox Sync button on the Firefox Start page." Well I cannot for the life of me find this button or the Firefox start page. Where could it possibly be? My tablet pc, when operating Firefox, does not bring up any such page with said button.

So, can anyone tell me\help me on why that one isn't starting ? I reinstalled this 6 times and still can't figure out the problem... (as you saw, I even replaced the tns hostname with 127.0.0.1 out of paranoia). It's seriously driving me mad. Every topic I searched for (from the problem itself to even a step-by-step for dummies) shows an install, then the interface working... I see some questions regarding "I can't connect to..." but most are unanswered :(

jgarry: I believe what you explained may be related to the fact some reported the DB doesn't work properly when the event log is full (I just emptied mine so it doesn't apply). Normally I disable it but without it started, the DB is not working properly (not that I can get it started anyway).
There was a post on a site I found hinting at 3 things:
1. ORACLE_HOME must be defined as an env-var
2. ORACLE_SID must be defined as an env-var
3. there might be a problem with spfile
Regarding those:
1. shouldn't the setup declare it automatically ? I don't have it declared, but I added it (no change)As Orafad pointed out, Windows is different. It does have a search hierarchy it follows to figure out what the environment should be. So first, unset what you set and go into a cmd window and:

2. same as above, except I am not sure what SID to add so I didn't declare it ... The only 2 I have are PLSExtProc and CLRExtProc in tnsnames by default. I tried with each but the only thing that changes is instead of getting the shared memory realm error I get a TNS adapter error... trading one error for another is not funFor XE, the ORACLE_SID is XE (unless you do screwy things to change it). So now that I see you had some other db installed before, I suspect an environment collision. Delve into your registry and see what oracle definitions you have - this is a lot of work, things are spread around some, but searching for oracle is usually a good start. I'm not up on the 11.2 details (or others, really, I just have vague memories of seeing MOS notes that purported to explain clean up entirely, without truly doing so, and I avoid Windows as much as possible). I would uninstall XE, uninstall the other one, then search the registry for any leftover stuff, then install XE and see if it all magically works. But that is a fairly brain-dead way to deal with it.
So that said, you can set up a little batch file to set your environment in a cmd window (specifically ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID), and go into sqlplus / as sysdba and give the startup command. If you get the memory realm error, you have one of those wrong, if you get the tnsnames errors you can fix those following the advice in Ed Steven's blog. You can run tnsping to see which tnsnames.ora you are using, if you use one (which is determined by an @ sign in your connection string, which you should not need to connect locally, but if you do, you need to have XE defined in the tnsnames.ora, and may need to set TNS_ADMIN to get the right one).
Your tnsnames.ora should have an entry like this:

3. I don't have that file in the folder but I suspect it might be created on a first successful launch of the DBWithout an spfile you need to use a pfile, then create a pfile from spfile. But there should be one at C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\dbs\SPFILEXE.ORA (if you used default installation).

I did have WAMP installed at a point (uninstalled it) but if it were to conflict I guess SETUP would tell me (since the XE license doesn't let you use 2 DBs at the same time)Is that some mysql thing? That shouldn't interfere. It's only installing multiple Oracle products related some what to the Oracle database that can be a problem, and normally isn't with the more recent stuff.
