Where is the Google Toolbar

After I installed Firefox 5.0, I opened Firefox. I thought the new interface looked good but I noticed that one thing was missing; my Google Toolbar.

How can I stop Firefox from incessantly interrupting my work by trying to install an update that is incompatible with the Google toolbar which I depend on. Not knowing any better, I trustingly allowed the installation the first time the update notice appeared. It crippled my Internet routines. The toolbars did not work and the bookmarks as well as all the history entries were lost, I have had to reinstall my previous Firefox 4.0.1 and start all over again.

If you look to the right you will see a link for 'more system details' that is where such troubleshooting information appears, and it can sometime be helpful.
I am using firefox on a couple of old XPs without problems. Obviously crashing is not expected behaviour, but please try to think of firefox as two separate parts the basic browser and all the additional software as addons and plugins.
It may be rather unrewarding trying to track down the cause of a crash using crash information, the best way forward is probably to start using it in[[safe mode]] and with no plugins installed.

If firefox is recommended by your university, why not try it out on one of their computers, presumably it is installed on the university computers available in the library etc, that should at least convince you that it does work.
I hope the problem is not malware, but if it is all the personal computers you try, a possibility that can not be discounted is that it is some form of malware affecting those computers.
Have you tried Internet Explorer, that will be installed on your XP by default I imagine, does that work ?

I used to have the google toolbar with Translate and Currency conv. Now it is gone. Why?

In the last version of this browser, I had a toolbar from Google that had Translate and Currency Converter. Now it's gone. Also when I opened a new tab, it would show lots of mini pages that I regularly visit, now that's gone. Where is this stuff and why can't the program just stay the same and work?

I need the Google toolbar so I reinstalled Firefox 4 but now it crashes all the time. When are you going to have a current version that's compatible with the toolbar?

When I updated to Firefox 5, I got a message that the Google toolbar was disabled as it wasn't compatible. I assume the same is true for version 6. After trying to use the browser without the toolbar for a few days I gave up and reinstalled version 4. Now I'm constantly getting pop-ups asked me to upgrade and I can't even submit feedback because you won't accept it until I upgrade. And version 4, which I never had a problem with before, is now very unstable and I have to shut it down at regular intervals to unfreeze it.
Do I need to switch to a different browser in order to use the Google toolbar?

A tiny little icon in the bottom right of the screen, I find the new set up very messy and very hard to navigate. Why can't I have the same set up on my toolbar that I've had for the last ten years? Thanks but you're only telling me stuff I already know, that dosen't explain how I get the new version of Firefox to look neat and tidy like it always used to. I can no longer have all my icons that I use, I can no longer access things as easily as I could and the whole thing looks very bare and basic now! A bigger mess than even Google Chrome.
I've spent most of this evening trying to get stuff back that is now lost because of this 'upgrade' and I'm now giving up with it. Well done! You've totally ruined what was the best browser for years.

With the newest version of Firefox, I can no longer use the Google toolbar! Also, some of my Webroot protection had to be inactivated. When will these features be able to be used with Firefox again?

With the new version of Firefox, the Google toolbar and something with my Webroot protection had to be inactivated to install. I use many of the features on the Google toolbar daily, and miss not being able to use it. When I try to reinstall, the message is that it is incompatible with Firefox 5.0. And I am not sure which features of my Webroot protection had to be deactivated for Firefox to install and run, but I want to retain my firewall and virus protection. And I MUCH prefer to use Firefox! So - I know you are always developing and improving. When will these become compatible again with Firefox.

The Google Toolbar is from Google and support for it can only come from Google, and Google has eliminated it from Firefox, and it never was in Google. Even Google has indicated that the features are available in Firefox through other extensions. But the features are really available in Firefox even without extensions from what I've seen because Firefox has very powerful bookmarks and knowing how to use them with JavaScript, substitution, and keyword shortcuts is a key to using Firefox.

Extensions for Firefox, such as the Google Toolbar, include a list of compatible Firefox versions. Currently, the Google Toolbar only goes up to Firefox 4. However, people have tested and it actually works on Firefox 5, so there are two workarounds:
(1) Edit a file to revise the range of compatible versions
(2) Install an add-on that lets you ignore the range of compatible versions

I need to know if the last non beta version of firefox supports the google toolbar. I will only update firefox if that is the case!

one month or two ago i was in NY at a friends house, and he updated firefox and in the new version what happened? "kaput" GOOGLE TOOLBAR GONE.
There are features in GT that firefox does't provide. I won't live without GT. Therefore i will only update firefox when sooner or later, will come to know that the new version doesn't "kill" GT.

If you don't already have the "Google Toolbar" why would you want it, it is a problematic extension as are most third party toolbars. I would expect that anything that just about anything that you would use it for can be done with a bookmarklet. As for searching, the builtin Firefox search bar is wonderful you can add or create search engines for it.

How can I download Firefox 4? I can only find no 5. I really need 4 so I can use the Google toolbar. My work depends on it.
