Where is the link to the 64-bit version of iTunes?

The error message: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2071/188587068890478f8c0fo.jpg indicates that there is a 64-bit installer for Windows. Where is it? I can't seem to find it.

iTunes 64bit version for Windows is somewhere in the future. Nice to see Apple is obviously doing something to remedy the issue.

  • 64 bit version of itunes

Am using and HP with Windows Vista. When I download itunes it tells me my installation is not complete. It tells me I can't import CD's or burn CD's. When I plug in my I phone it tells me I can't activate it, that I must uninstall itunes, and reinstall the 64 bit version of itunes. Is the 64 bit version of itunes not itunes 7.2? If not where can I get the 64 bit version?

Itunes does work with 64 BIT Vista/XP --- its just the iPhone and iTouch doesn't sync up because Apple has not released a driver for it
Unfortunately, I have 64BIT Vista .. and I am still waiting for Apple to hurry up and release 64-Bit Support
It get's a bit tiring to hear those without a full understanding of the issues constantly putting the onus on Apple for a lack of 64-bit Vista/XP support. I don't purport to know all of the issues, but it would bet it has more to do with MS than it does with Apple. If Microsoft were more adept at 64-bit implementation, while preserving 32 bit device driver support, this would not be an issue.
As has been the case in the past, I wouldn't doubt that MS itself has thrown technical roadblocks in Apple's way to limit, or slow, the implementation of a 64-bit version of iTunes with iPhone support. Why? To make Apple look bad and to slow the proliferation of a successful Apple product within the Windows user base. It's been proven that they've done it before and it will, no doubt, do it again. (BTW, my last statements will probably result in the pulling of my post, or this thread, as the moderators are quite even-handed in deleting posts that denigrate MS...and not just Apple.)
Every Mac OS since 10.2.7 (2003), introduced with the PowerPC G5 processors, has provided for some 64-bit hardware and software support while still providing support to 32 bit applications and hardware. Mac OS 10.5 is a full 64-bit OS, yet has virtually no issues with supporting and running 32-bit devices and applications.
64-bit MS-Windows systems often lack equivalents to software that is written for 32-bit architectures. The most severe problem is incompatible device drivers. Although most software can run in a 32-bit compatibility mode (also known as an emulation mode, e.g. Microsoft WoW64 Technology), it is usually impossible to run a driver (or similar software) in that mode since such a program usually runs in between the OS and the hardware, where direct emulation cannot be employed. Currently the 64-bit versions for many existing device drivers are not available, so using a 64-bit operating system can become frustrating as a result. The iPhone, is not unique, or alone, in it's lack of 64-bit WINDOWS only support and other support forums are rampant with similar issues with other devices. This is why many companies and individuals have rolled their Vista or XP systems back to 32-bit.
Because device drivers in operating systems with monolithic kernels, and in many operating systems with hybrid kernels, execute within the operating system kernel, it is possible to run the kernel as a 32-bit process while still supporting 64-bit user processes. This provides the memory and performance benefits of 64-bit for users without breaking binary compatibility with existing 32-bit device drivers, at the cost of some additional overhead within the kernel. This is the mechanism by which Mac OS X enables 64-bit processes while still supporting 32-bit device drivers.
Mac OS 10.5 Leopard delivers 64-bit power in one universal operating system. The Cocoa application frameworks, as well as graphics, scripting, and the UNIX foundations of the Mac, are all 64-bit. But, since it provides full performance and compatibility for 32-bit applications and drivers, there is no need to update everything on a system just to run 64-bit applications. Because of its universal nature, with OS 10.5 Leopard you don’t need a new set of drivers — or devices. New 64-bit applications work just fine with your existing printers, storage devices, and PCI cards. Even better, if you upgrade to new 64-bit-capable device drivers (when available), your 32-bit applications will also benefit from the increased throughput.
If only Microsoft were so forward thinking...

If you're running Mac OS X 10.6.6 or newer, click on the App Store icon in the Dock, go to its homepage if needed, and look at the sidebar on the right.
If you're running an older Mac OS X version, it needs to be updated or upgraded first.

I lost my disk, the link on the site to download the trail for elements 6 is broken. Where can I download Photoshop Elements 6?
I was trying to install the trail because that was the only thing available and I have the product key. Can you please direct me to a link to download Adobe Photoshop Elements version 6 please.
    Thank you,
         Rob

Unfortunately, even if there were a download link it wouldn't help. PSE 6 had different serial numbers for downloads and boxed versions that were mutually incompatible, and back then you couldn't just enter a serial number into the trial. That's probably why adobe doesn't have a download available for PSe 6.

  • TS1368 Where do I get the 64 bit version of iTunes?

How do i get the 64 bit version of iTunes?

If you go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ the website detects the type of computer you are connecting from and automatically shows you what it believe is the correct choice, so a Mac sees initially the Mac download, and a PC running 64-bit Windows will see the choice set to iTunes for Windows 64-bit and so on.
However for your benefit here is the direct download for the 64-bit version

  • How do I download the 64 bit version of iTunes in the UK?

I'm trying to download iTunes onto my windows 7 laptop but it keeps saying I have to download the 64 bit version but I don't know where it can be downloaded from? Help please!

The same way it is downloaded and installed for any country on the planet.
    Go to the download page.
Click the link to the 64-bit version of iTunes and download it.
FYI, most browsers automatically pull up the correct link based on the version of the OS your computer is running.
Of course, a little effort on your part, like simply typing "64bit itunes" into a google search bar would have resulted in this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1577

  • This ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the Itunes installer to remove Itunes, then install the 64-bit version of Itunes.

I'm not sure if the error message is related but smart friend was using my computer started deleting Quicktime & Safari and told me that they shouldn't be on my computer as they are not windows product & I can't use them on my laptop. With trepidation but acknowledging I don't know any of the stuff they were talking about, I allowed them to raid my laptop thinking it could be for the best. Now I'm not sure if it is related or not but depsite me having the most recent Itunes updates on both my Ipod 4TH GT, I am getting the following message everytime I connect my Ipod to the computer...and the timing would be about right too:
this ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the Itunes installer to remove Itunes, then install the 64-bit version of Itunes.
If it helps I am running the 10.7.0.21 on the Sony Vaio & remember checking last week I do have the latest update on the Ipod but it is a different version from the Itunes on the laptop (which may be normal, I wouldn't know) but as I am away from home & Wifi I can't tell u the version on that though.
My problem is I cannot find an apple installer on the laptop to uninstall & I have searched Apple & Google for help and have seen others posts with the same issue but alot of the answers unfortunately I can't follow. I would greatly appreciate it if you can you answer any of these questions for me?
*Will add & remove totally uninstall Itunes so that I can reinstall?
*Will I lose my apps, music & data?
*If the apps, music & data is recoverable, how do I do that?
Sadly I can't find the installer & would love to add my new Mumford & Sons cd to my Ipod collection but don't know how to fix this. I love my Ipod & google but I have spent hours tryign updates, downloads, searches & feedback to Apple. A few months ago I had an Itunes billing problem & there was a webpage where you could email an apple support worker & rhe replied to my credit card problem within a day or 2 but I can't find that help for this problem..I couldn't express my graditude enough if you could help me with this, but thank you.

This "smart friend" really sounds like a collosal moron.
Follow the instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925  to remove and reinstall all Apple products on your computer.
Once you get everything working, the next time your "smart friend" wants to touch your computer, tell them firmly NOT A CHANCE IN ****!
None of your data (media, podcasts, apps) will be affected by removing and reinstalling iTunes.

  • This iPad cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes then install the 64-bit version of iTunes

I have seen others post this same question but the answers provided does not resolve my problem. My iPad Air is running iOS 7.1.2. I have been using this same computer for three years. It has Windows 7 home premium, service pack 1,  64-bit Operating System, Intel 3.4GHZ computer and 16.0 GB .  I used this same computer with my iPad2 for several years. I purchased an iPad Air a year ago. I never had a problem with either iPad using iTunes. About a week ago, my computer would no longer recognize the iPad Air. I thought it must be a driver problem or iTunes somehow became corrupted. I uninstalled all of the Apple products except for iCloud and deleted any Apple software left in my Program Files and Program Files (x86). I then downloaded from Apple, iTunes64Setup.exe which is a 110,833 KB program. I installed the program without a problem. It installed Bonjour, Apple Software Update, Apple Application Support and iTunes. These programs I had previously uninstalled. I then brought up iTunes.  I now plugged in my iPad Air and a popup message appeared "This iPad cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes then install the 64-bit version of iTunes". OK, I did as instructed. I used the iTunes installer to remove iTunes then ran iTunes64Setup.exe. I brought up iTunes and got the same message. "This iPad cannot be used because the required software is nt installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes then install the 64-bit version of iTunes"  In general, I have found the Apple software to be robust and reliable. This situation however is very disappointing. I am hoping that someone has an answer that I can use to resolve my problem.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component, such as Apple Mobile Device Support, won't install normally.
In your case I suggest you start with a clean download of the setup file using the direct link. If reinstalling AMDS alone doesn't work try tearing everything down again.

after downloading the 64 bit version of itunes, when i plug my iphone in, it says that i need the 64 bit version software
    PLEASE!!!  LOL

    Hello Rob,
It sounds like you have installed the 64 bit version of iTunes, but you continue to the get an error message that suggests to download the 64 bit version any time you connect your iPhone.  I understand that you have already uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, but sometimes you may need to uninstall additional components related to iTunes to completely remove it from your system.
I recommend following the steps in the article below to completely uninstall iTunes (click on the link for your version of Windows):
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Once you have completely uninstalled iTunes, you can download the 64 bit version of iTunes for Windows here:
    iTunes 11.0.5 for Windows (64-bit)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1615
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
