Where is the location bar item list stored?

Upon typing URLs in the location bar a drop down item list will appear.
Is there somewhere in firefox where this list of items is stored?
If so, is that in a format I can go through and see each item?
Thank you

It worked.
Thank you very much the-edmeister.
Some details:
- Add-on installed: SQLite Manager 0.7.7
- From SQLite Manager you need to open the places.sqlite and it is stored under
[DRIVE]:\[users]\[pc user]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[one of the profile]\
on Windows 7(64bit).
- On the left side of SQLite Manager program main window there is a tree structure of tables, Views, Indexes etc. You need to go to under Tables and click on moz_places. On the center of the SQLIte program main window now you should see the table with its columns. The URL column is the right one.

• Where is the location bar?

The location bar keeps disappearing from my Mozilla Firefox - version 4.0 . I've recreated the address bar 4 times and it keeps going away every couple of days. Windows 7 - on a laptop.

Sounds like a problem with the file localstore.rdf

• How do I get the location bar drop-down list to show the most recently visited page at the top? I have no idea how it's deciding what to display.

In IE when you show the drop-down list from the location bar, it show you all of your most recently visited pages in descending order with the most recent at the top. Firefox is showing me a list that I have no idea where it's getting the pages from or how it's ordering them. It doesn't update the pages or the order when I go to a new page. I have recently switched from IE to Firefox and cannot figure out how to get Firefox to do this; very annoying.

That drop down list doesn't show recently visited pages, but shows list list of most visited sites sorted by what the Mozilla devs call frecency (frequency and recency) and is based on bonus points. It is not possible to have much influence on what shows on that list.
If you want a list of recently visited sites then you can use a smart bookmark e.g. on the Bookmarks Toolbar with the location set to this smart folder.
Name: Recently Visited
Location: place:queryType=0&sort=4&maxResults=30
You need to close and restart Firefox to make that folder work as intended.

• Clicking on the downward arrow at the right end of the location bar no longer displays the drop-down list of sites visited, bookmarks and addresses typed in location bar

Since I upgraded to Firefox version 3.6.10, clicking on the downward arrow at the right end of the location bar no longer displays the drop-down list of sites visited, bookmarks and addresses typed in location bar. My Tools > Options > privacy setting is to save history, and if I start typing a previously accessed website's address in the location bar, then the full address appears as a drop-down item. But not when I just click at the right end of the bar.

You can try "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the [[Safe mode]] start window.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

• In Firefox 4, how do I get back the context menu for the drop down list of the Location Bar so I can Open Link in New Tab, which I did often in FF 3?

Firefox 3 has a context menu for the drop down list of
the Location Bar. One option on this menu I used often
is "Open Link in New Tab" -- quite convenient.
This context menu has disappeared in Firefox 4.
Can I get it back?

The "Use custom settings for history" setting allows to see the current history and cookie settings, but selecting that setting doesn't make any changes to history and cookie settings.
Firefox shows the "Use custom settings for history" setting as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made.
If all History settings are default then the custom settings are hidden and you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History".
Hi all
I messed around with my login items as I had a startup problem (very slow startup). I 've deleted the Microsoft AU Deamon, now I want to reinstall it from a backup - but where is the thing???
Where are the users login items physically located?

Where are the users login items physically located?
The physical login item process could be located any where. Your ~/Library/Preferences/loginwindow.plist initiates login applications or processes.

• When trying to cler all browsing history at the location bar, although I follow the instructions to 'ctrl, shift, delete, some web pages remain stuck. Even if I highlight them one at a time and hit delete, they remain. What can I do to eliminate them?

When trying to delete web pages from my history at the location bar drop-down area, I do as Firefox instructs by hitting the 'ctrl, shift, delete' keys but some web pages remain. Even if I highlight each page and hit delete, they remain. How can I eliminate these web pages?

If you visit a bookmarked site then that site will become a history item and shows as such in the location bar drop down list.

• How to remove history in the location bar? Deleting history and then using "History" only in the settings for the location bar does not remove old history.

I want to remove ''old History'' in the Location bar.
I am using Firefox 3.6.13.
"Clear recent history" does not remove the old History in the Location bar. And changing the setting to only show "History" does also not remove the old history.
Pressing "Delete" on single lines when opening the list by clicking the arrow to the right in the location bar, remove the entries temporary. But next time you type in the location bar, the same suggestions are there.

See:
* [[Clearing Location bar history]]
* [[Cannot clear Location bar history]]
Entries in the location bar drop down list with a yellow (blue on Mac) star at the right end are bookmarks.
You can remove such a bookmarked item that shows in the list if you open that url in a tab and click the yellow star in the location bar.
This will open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog and you can click the Remove button to remove the bookmark if you want to remove such a bookmarked entry.

• I can no longer access websites through the location bar (address bar).

A few days ago, my location bar (address bar) suddenly stopped working. When I typed in an address and clicked on Enter, nothing happened - and I mean nothing. The cursor at the end of what I had just typed into the location bar just sat there, blinking at me. Clicking on the arrow at the right end of the location bar didn’t work either. On the other hand, if I clicked on a link in a website or e-mail, I would be taken right to the website at the other end of the link. And when I clicked on a bookmark, I was taken to the bookmarked site. It is only when I type or paste something into the location bar that I am unable to reach the sought after website. Exiting and then re-entering Firefox did not help, nor did rebooting my computer. I was using version 6.0.2 at the time. I upgraded to version 7.0.1; that didn’t help either. Help!!!

That is a signature symptom of the "AVG Safe" extension in the Link Scanner component of AVG Free, but you don't have that extension on the computer you posted from, see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions
There is also these which you don't have either

Try disabling the Foxit PDF creator as it has an ask.com authorship signature.
If that doesn't work see if Firefox works in Safe Mode. If it does it is probably an extension problem.
# Restart in (Firefox) Safe Mode with Help ("Alt+H") > "Restart with Add-ons disabled" to restart immediately (one-time) in safe mode. Do not check-mark any of the items (they are certainly not safe as they make those changes permanent).

• How do I use the location bar to automatically load the top google hit?

I recently re-installed Firefox 3.6.12 and created a new profile because my old one was malfunctioning. Before, when I typed something in the location bar (say "nyt") it would automatically load the first Google hit (so I didn't have to type "nytimes.com"). Now, it simply performs a Google search without loading the first page hit. I loved being able to save time this way. How do I restore this feature?

I had this problem in FF4 and found the answer here: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/756711#answer-
To quote TonyE:
Current release versions of Firefox by default use the Google "browse by name" search option for the location bar, but Firefox 4 beta 6 no longer uses this. You can restore it by changing a hidden preference. In Firefox 4 beta 6 it should have defaulted to a Google search rather than what you got.
Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
In the filter box type keyword
Double-click on the preference keyword.URL and change it to the one shown below

• How do I disable Autocomplete COMPLETELY without messing with other settings such as with the location bar? I still like to see websites there that I've been to, without typing it in every time, but just hate the autocomplete part.

Case: When I go to Tools - Options - Privacy then Location Bar options, there should be another option to where we can disable auto-complete from the Location Bar without messing with other settings. Example #1: I click "Nothing" and then I gotta type in the website I wanna go to every single time. Example #2: I click "History & Bookmarks" and then it auto-completes. Is there any other option just to disable Auto-Complete all together??

• I would like to move the reload button off of the location bar. I would also like to have a visible "forward" button as well as the back button.

Simple as that. Given that I have OCD, it's extremely unpleasant to have both the forward and back buttons not consistently visible. How can I return to that appearance?
I also want to separate the reload button from the location bar, as I had it before the update. I find myself reloading pages quite often, and having the button be smaller, and within the location bar, is well... kinda counter-intuitive.
Ideally, I would like to have it ordered, from left to right: back, forward, reload, location bar.
Firefox has always been very customizable, and very user friendly. A few hiccups here and there, sure, but you can typically get what you want done, one way or another. So can you guys help me out? This is driving me crazy. I have installed Classic Theme Restorer, and it doesn't change that I can't currently do this.

Hi Rose1, if you mean in the regular address bar of Firefox 29, the Forward button should appear after you have used Back.
If you mean in the Classic Theme Restorer, you first need to check the box for "Movable back-forward button" in its Options. Open the Add-on page using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions, then click the Options button for Classic Theme Restorer. On the "Main" tab, under General UI, you will find this option. As you check and uncheck, Firefox shows the result of the change, so you should see the arrows appear on the right end of the main toolbar.
After finishing with this dialog, you can use Customize to drag them where you want them.
Any luck?

• Where is the Format Bar in 5.0?

Where is the Format Bar in Pages 5.0? It would also appear that some of the tools such as list styles that were formerly available are missing as well.

You can archive (compress) Pages 5 after exporting all the files back to Pages '09.
I suggest rating/reviewing Pages 5 in the App Store, to slowly hammer home the message to an Apple that is largely deaf to its users.
Apple may be regretting its own reviewing system, as users tell it just how much they hate what it has done.
