Where is the mic?

Where IS the Mic?

On most basic phones the mic is usually located at the bottom and could be on the bezel. It is a very tiny hole and I have seen it sometimes not look like a hole at all if it is filled with dirt. I am guessing that you are questioning where it is because people are stating that they can't hear you. I would locate the hole on the bezel and try to blow it out with canned air. If that doesn't work I have successfully (on countless occasions) cleared this opening by taking a single staple and straightening it. Once straight it is the perfect size to clear any dirt out. Be sure to blow it out afterwards.

    hello guys i bought my iPad mini 3 today. I'm trying to guess even where the mic is, I'm guessing its at the top on the back well it looks like a mic. but anyway i recently done a video of myself to test the mic on the iPad. and it seems quiet. don't know if I'm doing something wrong. i am currently installing IOS 8.1.2 now. can someone tell me if the mic is faulty, or if I'm doing something wrong. the volume is on full. please help........

    Hi Townsend1990,
    I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your new iPad. If you are looking for more information on the locations of the dual mics on the iPad Mini 3, you may find the following page helpful. If you are having mic issues, especially if you have your iPad in a case, you may want to make sure that the mics aren't obstructed.

  • Where is the mic for talk to text in ios7?

    I use the talk to text function all the time - or did until the mic disappeared when I downloaded ios7.  Has anyone had this issue - is it resolvable?  THX!

    Yes, it is part of EE not SE. Or you can get it/them from your application server's lib dir (which may or may not be a better choice).

  • Where is the mic located on a 27 inch slim iMac?

    I tried snapping my fingers in front of the screen, all around the bezel, and behind the case while watching the level meter in the Sound panel. It seems that no matter where I hold my hand the level is the same. I'm sure they didn't put multiple mics in there, probably just a very sensitive omni. But where?

    Thanks for the info. Its so tiny it looked like a slight imperfection in the top edge of the case. Theres a similar mark on the back about an inch below the top edge, but it doesn't seem to be another microphone.
    I'm wondering if theres a way to permanently disable this mic - it keeps turning itself back on.

  • Where is the built in Mic on my G5?

    sorry to sound so stupid, but where is the built in microphone on my G5 located?
    TIA everyone

    Hi-
    There are a couple of ways to get line in.
    One, the versatile iMic. Still need a microphone.....
    Use a self powered microphone like this DRK.
    If you just need a mic for use with a webcam, get a USB webcam that has a mic built in. Plenty good....
    Also the line in port, is it located at the back of the tower and presumably has a small 'mic' type icon located next to the port?
    On the rear, yes. Mic icon, no.
    The G5 tower has a rear mounted "optical digital audio in Toslink connector" and a "stereo audio in minijack".
    This is where you would connect a preamp or amplifier, so that you could use standard microphones.
    I use an iMic. Good for connecting my turntable, and for connecting a mic to add voiceover.......

  • My MacBook Pro has an aerphone jack but nothing for microphone. I am trying to use Dragon Dictate and a friend gave me a USB attachment to connect to the mic and headphone. It is in a transparent plastic case charcoal gray in color and says 3D sound on th

    I have Dragon Dictate but did not notice until now that the earphone jack is only for listening so I cannot dictate using headphones and the mic on the computer is not good enough for that. A friend gave me a USB card that says 3D Sound on top; it is  a plastic case, charcoal gray in color and side jacks to connect headphone and mic. Connected to computer but it does not do a thing. Any ideas on how to make it work?

    You are not supposed to connect a pair of speakers(as in left and right in a stereo pair)to two separate out jacks on the sound card.the place on the card where headphones/speakers with the mini jack goes is the right place.

  • I am having problem with me Iphone4, looks like the mic of my phone is not working. no one can hear me if I make a call to them

    Can any one please help me I am having problem with me Iphone4, looks like the mic of my phone is not working. no one can hear me if I make a call to them. I have tried all restoring options but no use. please help me

    The mic on my iPhone4 has just quit also. Similar symptoms to yours in that people I'm talking to hear only static or my voice very faintly. The voice/memo recorder also only really records static.
    It happened suddenly and seemed to get better after a day or two but then went completely after another day.
    I'm returning it to Vodafone New Zealand shortly but will have to wait 5-10 days for a replacement. There are NO Apple accredited means to speed this procedure up in NZ.
    We don't even have a single physical Apple Store where you could walk in and talk to a Genius.

  • Windowing an OutputSream from the mic .. help !

    Hi all ..
    first I'd like to thank all people here in the forum .. i learnt a lot from u guys !
    My problem is ..
    I'm using J2ME
    I want to stream from the mic .. for 3 seconds
    then whenever a 256 samples are available .. i read them from the stream so to do DCT on them .. or maybe Hadamard transform ..
    the code i use , makes the recorder sleeps for the 3 seconds .. then all data time samples are available at the end ..
    this is the code i use (copied from this forum !)
    private byte[] record()   {
        ByteArrayOutputStream output= null;
        try {
            Player p = Manager.createPlayer( "capture://audio?bits=16" );
            p.realize();
            RecordControl rc = ( RecordControl ) p.getControl( "RecordControl" );
            output = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
            Alert splash = new Alert("Please Speak out now !!");
            splash.setTimeout(1000);
            Display.getDisplay(this).setCurrent(splash);
            rc.setRecordStream( output );
            p.start();
            rc.startRecord();
            Thread.currentThread().sleep( 3000 );
            rc.stopRecord();
            rc.commit();
            p.stop();
            p.close();
        } catch( Exception e )  {
            System.out.println( e );
        return output.toByteArray();
    }Note : after trying this code on a mobile phone .. it worked great .. but the recorder seemed a little slow .. and did not record All the 3 seconds.. so i made the sleep = 5000 ie 5 seconds..
    waiting for ur helpful hands and keyboards .. !!
    Thanks in advance..

    Sorry, wrong thread......
    Here is some info about the applet tag
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/applet/appletsonly/appletTag.html
    Allthouhg that one still uses CODE="MyClass.class"
    and should be CODE="Animator" (without the .class)
    The above link tells you about the properties of the applet tag but you should use the object tag instead:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/plugin/developer_guide/using_tags.html
    Allthough that article mentioned situations where to use the applet tag.
    The only reason to use applet tag is if you want the applet to be run with MSJVM.
    Allthough the default installation will run applets with the SUN jre many users will
    probably change this after noticing their ms specific applets won't run anymore.

  • Using the Mic in Windows 7

    I sometimes like to have conversations with my friends on MSN Messenger and other programs (like online games and such), but I noticed that there are no drivers installed for the mic. Is there a place where I can go to download drivers so it will work?

    Download and install Windows Management Framework 4.0 (Powershell 4.0) to both your computer and your servers:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40855.  Once installed, make sure the Windows Remote Management (WS-Management) service is running on the server.
    Once that is done, get RSAT (if you don't already have it):
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=7887.
    You should now be able to connect.

  • Where's the built-in input gone?

    I haven't used Garageband for a while and need to do some basic recording using the built-in input for real audio.
    When I go to select the input there is no option for built-in, only 2 mono options for mic and stereo mic.
    Where has the built-in option disappeared to?

    You need to go to GB Preferences>Audio/MIDI and change the input to the Built-in.

  • Where is the antenna located in the Style 9670?

    Hello
    I do not own a BB yet but thinking of buying a Style 9670 soon. It is still available in India and the phones here are not tied up to the service provider. My phone usage is minimal since it causes ear pain whenever I talk on a GSM/CDMA phone. So I use it on speaker phone or use the hands free headset but that is not always practical. I am looking for a phone that has the internal antenna farthest from the ear. Phones with lower SAR won't help. Using the cordless phone and wi-fi at home is ok but mobile phone radiation always casues pain and tinnitus when the phone is held directly to the ear, even for few seconds.
    I believe that most Blackberry handsets have their cellular antenna at the bottom (near the mic) and the GPS/Bluetooth/Wi-fi antenna at the top? If this is true then it's good for me. Also, where exactly would be the cellular antenna in a flip phone? Is it there in the lower half (keyboard area) or the upper half (display area)?

    The 9670 is a CDMA network only device, are you sure it will work on any carrier in India?

    The sound input going to the mic is not going to pipe through the speakers like that.  It doesn't do it because it would cause a feedback loop on itself.  The mic input will take sound and output it to a program or to another pathway (like a VoIP or Facetime call, etc.) but it won't behave like a Karaoke machine if that's what you're thinking.

  • Where is the monitor menu and ALC checkbox?

    Using GB11, I have my electric guitar plugged into the Mic/Line input on my MacBookPro using a simple converter.  The "Converter" is only a phone jack input with a mini-jack output.  It's not powered.
    In the Mac's General Preferences/Sound/Audio I have "Line In and Audio Line-In Port" selected.
    In GB Preferences Audio/MIDI I have "Built-in" for both Output and Input but I've also tried "System Setting" on each/both.
    I can switch between amps and as I play I cannot hear my guitar.  As I record I cannot hear the guitar.  When I play back I hear the amp and WOW it's cool!  But I need to be able to monitor as I play.  I looked up monitor in the Help file and saw this:
    In the Track Info pane, do any of the following:
    Choose On from the Monitor menu before recording.
    Select the Automatic Level Control checkbox before playing or recording.
    Well, I have the Track Info pane open (that's where the amps are displayed). But I cannot find the Monitor menu or the ALC Checkbox.
    Can someone please tell me where these are hidden??
    TIA
    j2
