Where is the current desktop image stored??
Hi,
I have an image that I've set as my desktop and I want to find the original file...
Where is this file kept? I haven't been able to find it in the 'library' or the 'system' files.
Any help is appreciated as always...
-SSIf it's a custom one, it's stored in its original location. The default ones look like they're in "/Library/Desktop Pictures". You can find out where the current one is by opening the Terminal application and copying and pasting this one-liner:
defaults read com.apple.desktop | grep ImageFilePath
Hit the "enter" key and it'll tell you where the original file is.

Where did the Mac Desktop download go?
It's been replaced by "Null' - whatever that is!
I'm stuck trying to troubleshoot my HotSynch problem with my Mac until I can try to download the Desktop again.

Where are the Palm Desktop executable/settings stored?
Palm Desktop 4.1.4E on Treo 650 Had to re-load from website, and now it wants me to start over. If possible, I would like to populate the desktop with my previous settings. Thank you
Post relates to: Treo 650 (Cingular)I lost the majority of my data (fortunately I had a relatively new backup) and most of my programs, including Palm Desktop. So. I downloaded the executable, but when I tried to run the program, it demands that I set it up again - user name, etc. I was wondering if the settings I had before the loss were still located somewhere

I like the default images Apple provides for the desktop but would like to add my own. I have desktop pictures set to change randomly every minute. Is there a way for me to add my own images to the categories (like 'Plants' or 'Nature') that are already in the Desktop and Screen Saver preference panel?
Thanks!luoqianhe wrote:

Where is the Photos Desktop App?!
I have the release version of Yosemite, but I can't find the Photos application that looks like my iOS one. How come?
You have to download it from Logitech.com:

I have a 2008 MacBook (non-unibody). It will boot to the custom desktop pic, but the Apple menu and dock are not available. I cannot boot into safe mode. I can boot from the OS DVD and run disk repair, but that has not helped the issue. Any advice?
I would love to see your real full (sans ser no) System Profile
You don't mention what you are using. If not the ATI 5770 or above, get one.
Replace the graphic card likely even as troubleshooting
reset SMC
Make a current clone or two
Boot off clone or setup a clean new emergency system for maintenance
Safe Boot
Recovery Mode
Start a new 2nd TimeMachine (I swap out and use one about once a month for insurance)
Never used it and not endoring spending or using but TechTool Pro 7 does more testing
The fewer background goodies the better but monitoring temps, fans, memory are useful.
Temperature Monitor, SmcFanControl 2.4+
I dont' think you need to be using ClamXav
A system performs better with less
New computer? maybe a new disk drive. Maybe more or swap out some or all FBDIMMs. Maybe just a clean system. Worse case, you updated from SL to Lion/ML and didn't do a clean break.
Early 2008 3,1 that you have have been more tempermental for a goodly number of users.

How to find current desktop pic
Hello all,
I have had the same desktop pic on my MacBook pro for quite some time, and am in the process of backing everything up on my laptop so that I can install Snow Leopard.
I cannot find my current desktop wallpaper (image) on my drive. I have went to system preferences and desktop/screensaver and it doesn't appear to be in with any of the previous or standard desktop images. Is there a way to find this image?? I do not know the file name but I would really like to save this pic.
Thanks,
NormWhile there may be a way to capture the image you still can see on
the desktop, most of the methods I can think of won't save it as an
equally high resolution as an original; and perhaps not as large.
Depending on what source the image was brought into the computer
from, and if it was via a User account or put into a system file, an
image could be hard to locate; if the original is still in the computer.
And I have (out of curiosity) looked into my system stuff for an image
I've added to the Desktop as a background; while knowing a duplicate
or an original was available in another location, or a source folder.
I've noticed at different times, usually after performing some levels
of maintenance where certain caches and other items throughout
the System are affected, that a personally selected folder or image
file that had been accessed and available from the System Prefs
Desktop & Screensaver control panel, is no longer found. However
since I usually bring images into my computer by Date, from my
digital cameras, I can go back to locate them in at least one place.
And have not been successful in finding a System location for a
lead on where to look for the image, apparently so orphaned.
You could try to get a screen shot, for later sight comparison in
your other user folders. And also if you happen to make a clone
of your complete system for later access, since it may save the
image as a desktop background so long as it was present at a
point in time when the Clone was made.
I've made clones and found the same screen background to be
very distracting when booted into a familiar scene. So I change
them eventually (for reference that I've booted from a clone.)
Perhaps someone who has gone searching their folders & files
for the source of a Desktop image currently presented may be
of help in re-tracing steps to find where your latent image is in
hiding; since you can't find the source image you first loaded.
Sorry to be of little/no help.
Good luck & happy computing! -
Does anyone know where i can get more desktop pics

I saved my completed rendered video in Publish and Share as an MP4, but where is the file saved to. I set it to be saved on my desktop, but I don't see it. thanks
markg
What version of Premiere Elements and what computer operating system? You have a few other threads awaiting follow up, and consequently that information
is not available elsewhere.
What is your specific export...
Publish+Share
Computer
AVCHD
and Presets = MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080p30 or something like that.
Specific please.
But what specifically are you entering in the Save In: field of the dialog that includes the Save button to initiate the export process.
Are you saving it as a file to the Desktop or to a specific folder on the Desktop? Have you given the export a distinctive file name?
The screenshot shows the Save In: to the Desktop as a file.
I have no idea of your background with the program, so I ask these questions so as to take nothing for granted.
If the computer Desktop is crowded, as mine often is, it is easy to have difficulty spotting a file save to the Desktop.
We will be watching for your follow up.
Thank you.

Win 7 Home Premium. Photoshop CC was crashing constantly and some features would not work properly. I uninstalled and now cannot get it to reinstall from the CC Website, Photoshop CC does not appear in the CC Desktop app. In the past I have been directed to a page where I could directly access the download, but I cannot find that page.
ShowLowAZ please try utilizing a different web browser. As an alternative please see Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html for information on how to install directly from the Creative Cloud Desktop application.
