Where is the modified folder?

I cannot figure out where my modified photos go in iphoto. I edit in Adobe Photoshop Elements, save with new names and they are SUPPOSED to be in a Modified folder in my library.
I know this because If I reopen in Adobe PE and look at file info, I see the path as users/myname/pictures/iphoto library/modified/2009/foldername.
BUT if I go to iPhoto I do not see any file folder called "Modified". I can find the original folder containing the original photos, but no sign of the edited/modified photos. nor do I see any evidence of any Modified folders anywhere
HELP! I'm about ready to quit using iPhoto. it is NOT an intuitive program at all.
HELP!.

Here's some info on using PSE as the editor of choice from within iPhoto. This does not apply to editing RAW files.
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in the library rebuild pane, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

So to recover those edited photos from the Modified folder you'll need to open the library package like shown here. Then very carefully locate those files and copy them to the desktop. The reason I said copy is to make sure you don't accidently move the wrong file to the desktop and thus damage the library. If you're absolutely sure you have the correct edited file then you can move it to the desktop instead of copy. But do so at your own risk.
    Happy New Year

where is the today folder in favourites?

Create a Smart Folder to bring this feature back.  From the Finder, select File, then Find.  You can create the smart folder here.  Change the drop down that says "kind" and select "Last modified date".  The next drop down you can select is "Today" or "Yesterday".  Hit the save button.  There is a checkbox in the save window to save it to the sidebar.  Make sure it is selected and name the file "Today" or "Yesterday".
    Steps are seen here:

  • Where is the extension folder for Adobe Bridge? (Mac)

I am trying to install the output module on Adobe Bridge. I am totally new to Creative Suite and photoshop. I can't find any information on bridge extensions at all. Here's the page I found on installing the output module- http://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/install-output-module-bridge-cc.html
I downloaded it but after that is says to copy it into the extension folder. Where is the extension folder? Is it is Bridge? Is it in Finder? Any information on extensions is much appreciated! What exactly are extensions? What is the difference between the extension folder and extension manager?
    Thank you!

At first sight I can' see anything wrong about the correct locations you used.
There was no need to delete all workspaces but that also should do no harm I would think.
You once pointed at the bridge6.plist file but it is not clear to me what you did with it. Personally I would quit Bridge and delete this plist file manually and then restart with again holding down option and use reset preferences.
And you did also use the reset to standard workspaces instead of the reset workspace to only reset the selected workspace. I don't know for sure this will make a difference but it is worth a try.
And while you are in the user library to delete the plist file for Bridge also look in the folder caches in this library.
User / library/caches/adobe/Bridge CC and inhere find and delete both the plug in and cache folder, then restart Bridge.
Finally it might be also worth a try to download CS6, it should not be needed to do so but it was one of the earlier solutions that worked. In your ACC menu click on any app that shows blue and this brings you to the CC website. Choose download center and find PS. Click on the icon and this gives you the detailed download page. Inhere you can change CC to CS6.
Download PS6 it and install it (this also installs the CS6 version of Bridge which was not a separate download in CS6). Then try first start CS6 and start the AOM which is installed by default in this version.
Then when having used this once quit CS6 and try CC (or even combine with restarting your Mac).
Hope this helps, because I'm running out of options

Where did the "library" folder at the users level go?

Users are not qualified to use the library anyway.
When it's following the Windblows lead, there should also be an option to revert this, to be able to switch the hidden files back to visible. Haven't been able to find that option yet.
Furthermore, I despise your remark about users not being qualified. When I buy something I have all rights using any and all part of it. Whether that's a sensible choice for each and every user is a whole other question, but to treat all users as one dumb-*** group is not good (IMHO).

  • Why is iPhoto6 creating a duplicate in the modified folder

So, I just installed iLife 06 on a fresh new system and have noticed some strange behavior. Using the import option, I imported my original photos from my old system. For whatever reason iLife06 is acting strange. It is creating duplicate copies of pictures that I took while turning the camera vertically. Both of these pictures in the originals folder and modified folder are identical. If i try to revert to original in iphoto, the photo will go away and then come back. So, my question is what is iPhoto doing?

iPhoto is saving a copy of the rotated image into the Modified folder. Although it may look the same as the Original from the Finder, it's actually different.
The "Original" has all the bits in a landscape orientation with a TIFF Orientation flag set, which causes programs that understand that flag (like Finder) to show them rotated.
The "Modified" one has all the bits in a portrait (rotated) orientation with the TIFF Orientation flag not set.
Yes, it's a subtle difference, and for most programs it won't matter. A few programs don't understand the TIFF flag, so would need the "Modified" copy to show it correctly.
In any case, for better or worse, iPhoto has always done this. It used to be a background operation whenever you rotated in iPhoto. With iPhoto 6, this happens during import instead of later in the background.

  • Where is the LOGIC folder ???

Hi. I installed Logic 7 on my Dual 2.3 for the first time today . I have 2 hard drives , one just for audio , so the install went to my system drive. Under applications i can see the Logic Icon which opens the program. Where is the physical folder , i mean where r the EXS24 samples etc.
Sorry its my first week with OSX.....
I shall be upgrading to 7.1 soon , so i will need to delete all this before installing that wont i ??
    Thanks
    Faisal

    Hey Faisal,
OSX, sorts all applications right down in the application folder. Asscociated folders and documents are sorted in a folder called Application Support.
So your "Logic folder" is located here: system drive/library/Aplication Support
You actually have another one here also: User(probably your name)/Library/Application Support
This one is for your own saved patches etc.
So the Factory Library to your Exs 24 are located in the first and your own will be located in the second, by default. You don't have to follow this though.
You will not have to delete anything to run the updater, actually, you really shouldn't!
    ATB,
    Erik

I don't understand your question. Please specify what you mean by "Format folder".
When playing a song, push Fn (near the microphone) to set point A, push Fn again to set B (repeating will start) and push Fn again to stop the A-B function.
No. Not yet, and I guess that there will never be (see the topic "Firmware request" or something).[/list=1]

  • Replacing photo in the Modified folder with one modified in another editor

First I'd like to thank Terence and Old Toad for getting me this far with my problem. So here are the gory details: I shoot my pictures in the RAW format with a Pentax K-X and then manage & edit them in iPhoto. When iPhoto converts many of the indoor (no flash) pictures, the jpgs are much darker than the .dng pictures from which they were created. In another discussion, I discovered that a camera setting was to blame for the darker jpegs but now I have to go back and fix the pictures I already imported.
If I send the jpeg to Photoshop Elements or another editor, it's still nearly impossible to get the color right. If I send the RAW image, however, I can create a proper jpeg, but then I'm stuck with saving it as a new file and reimporting it. For each picture I fix, I'll have 1 RAW image and the jpeg that iPhoto creates and 2 new jpegs from editing the RAW image in the external editor.
I've read enough discussions to know that as tempting as it is to do, thou shalt not touch the iPhoto Library. That said, is there any way to have iPhoto associate the externally created jpeg with the original RAW file?
    Message was edited by: pfgroff

Thanks TD for the suggestion. I made the switch but iPhoto wouldn't pick up the changes. I rebuilt the thumbnails by holding cmd+alt at start-up and that seemed to work until I double-clicked the image. Then I'd see the old darker image I thought I replaced. Even when I look in the finder at the image, the new one is in the Modified folder, but iPhoto is really committed to showing the old one. As there is no clean way to achieve what I'm trying to do, I've resorted to hiding the original so I can keep the raw image. I still have 4 copies for 1 image, but the library at least looks a little cleaner.
    Thanks again for your reply.
