Where is the original of an edited picture?

Hi everybody,
I have one important question: I have exempted a picture (I hope its the right word - meaning to cut out the undesired parts), but after closing the program, the original was lost. I have already deleted the picture on the camera...
Does anybody know if the original is stored somewhere where I could retrieve it?
Thanks for your help,
with kind regards,
Clemens.

Hi there,
If you originallty imported the image into iPhoto and then worked on it, the original SHOULD be still in iPhoto. Go into iPhoto highlight image and use the Photos > Revert to Original option in menu...
Good luck, Rick

  • How to import and make the content of the original PDF document editable and preserves the pdf appearance and retains existing fields and formatting in LiveCycle

Can someone tell me how I can see my content (artwork and text) after I import  it into LiveCycle Designer ES4?  I like to import and make the content of the original PDF document editable; preserves the pdf appearance and retains existing fields and formatting, then allow me to do the modifications and save it back into the original PDF document with changes. I have tried everything but still cannot see my content(artwork and Text) of my original PDF after importing it into LiveCycle. All I see are is a blank page with the formatting and layout of where my artwork and text should be. I like to see everything if possible so after I make my change I will know how it will look when I save it back into the PDF and open it in Acrobat Reader.

  • Iphone photo transfer choas: where is the original image ?

    folder structure is confusing:
    iphoto library
    modified
    2007
    Roll 312
if modified, where is the ******* original ?

Are you transferring photos from iPhoto to your iPhone?
The folder structure on the iPhone should be as follows:
Camera Roll - stores photos taken by the iPhone only.
Photo Library - access to all photos transferred to your iPhone from your computer via the iTunes sync/transfer process. Photos take by the iPhone are available in the Camera Roll folder only.
Below Photo Library are select iPhoto albums (or select folders containing photos) transferred from your computer to your iPhone.
If you transferred one iPhoto album or separate folder named 2007 containing photos to your iPhone which includes 100 photos - it should be available on the iPhone as follows:
    Photo Library (100)
    2007 (100)
If you transferred 3 iPhoto albums or separate folders named 2005, 2006 and 2007 containing a total photo count of 100, it should be as follows:
    Photo Library (100)
    2005 (35)
    2006 (35)
    2007 (30)
You can view the 30 photos in the 2007 album or folder only by selecting it or view all 100 photos in all albums or folders by selecting Photo Library.
I'm not sure where the modified folder is coming from but unless you have an iPhoto album or pictures folder name modified which was selected for transfer from your computer to the iPhone, something is wrong but the original photos should be available on your computer.

Why are documents on the Lion upgrade so impersonal: Save a Version(where is the original that I created)?

I keep thinking of the old, original TV show, "Outer Limits" in which the narrator tells us that he has control.
We are entering into the new nanny state, in which personal control is being minimized.

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone can help me locate the original user picture I took when I first started my Macbook Pro.
I accidently changed it to a photo i took on photobooth and I can't find it anymore.
The old one still appears on ''Messeges" as my picture but is nowhere to be found. I've looked in the Library Cache, User profile pics, etc.
Please help me if you know where I can find it.

  • Is there a way to retain the original date after editing?

I am using PSE 11 on a MacBook Pro, OS X (10.3). I have a lot of old pictures to edit, and they are in date order, which is how I want them.
However, when I edit a picture and save it, it moves it to the bottom, with today's date instead of the original date.  I have them set to save with the original as a version set.
Is there any way to retain the orignal dates, short of having to go in and reset the date on every picture after I save it?  I really want them to be in date order under their original dates.
BTW, I used earlier versions that were Windows-based, and this didn't happen.  When I saved them, the version sets stayed where they were.
    This is really frustrating!

I'd like an answer to this too.
    What's your problem exactly?
The 'date taken' is never changed by editing a picture.

  • What happens to the original photo after editing?  Does it get replaced by the edited photo?

I just bought my first iPhone(5).  On Android, when editing a photo, the original stays in your gallery and the edited photo gets placed right next to it.  So what I want to know is, When editing a photo in the photo app, what happens to the original since it would be nice to be able to make different edits of it.

That is an excellent question. This is definitely not the programmed behavior of Photoshop Elements. Normally, when you edit a file, a new copy of the file is created (the original is simply left alone). This new copy of the file will have "_edited-1" added to the end of the name. It should definitely not be adding $ to the name at all.
Just as a test, create a new user account on your computer, and try editing another image to see if does the same thing there. However, I suspect there is another application on your computer that is modifying how files are saved, deleted, and renamed.

  • Where is the original date recored in metadata Pro and Bridge

I am looking for the original date that DV video was recorded. All I am seeing after a capture is the date of the capture. Is there some setting to make sure that the date of the original recording is captured? Is there some bridge menu/option to show the date if it is already there. I using WinDV to capture DV video and it put the date in the file name of each scene, but I am having other issues with WinDV now and think that the metadata of Bridge is in a more useful format than the file name process. Thank you. I have searched the instructions and forums for both CS3 and CS4 and cannot find where this is described as possible.
Currently I am using CS3 Premier Pro and Bridge
    Windows XP
If this is only available in CS4, this would probably be enough of a reason to move to CS4.

    Steve,
I don't believe that PPro records this data, either in the file header or in a metadata sidecar file--at least, I've never been able to make it available. It's a good feature request, but unfortunately is not a capability at this time.

  • QuickTime Player 10.1 no more includes the ability to save a movie file in the same format as the original movie after editing it? No, it doesn't!

Since upgraded to Lion, I have to wait for QuickTime Player 10.1 to "CONVERT" every file that I edited in it.
Yes, it might save some disk space for me.(Which is not always the case though.) But it also takes almost 10 times or more as it did when back on Snow Leopard with QuickTime Player 10.0 there I could save any file in the same format as the original movie WITH NO NEED TO CONVERT IT.
Now I have to wait like 10 minutes to delete just a few frames.(The time it takes depends upon the original size of that movie. The larger the longer.) And guess what? If you have two clips originally split up from a movie and sperately getting saved(converted actually) with a loooooooot of time, and you naively added one of them to the other's end and then saved the finished one. It converts AGAIN! Doing so back on Snow Leopard with QuickTime Player 10.0 only takes you even a few seconds only!
Seriously, are we eating Apple or dirt this time?

My existing movies are all the following types straight from FinalCut
    Apple Intermediate Codec, 1920 × 1080, Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo, 48.000 kHz
This particular movie is 6.66 Gb
The new Quicktime player in OS Mavericks converts these to the following format:
    Apple ProRes 422, 1920 x 1080
Linear PCM, 16 bit little-endian signed integer, 2 channels, 48000 Hz
And a movie size of 6.48 Gb
It seems obvious from other forum posts this is a planned move so that everything is the "new mobile device" ready state/format. To use Marc Speth's post as material....
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/23749558#23749558
this is probably about dumbing down desk top OS to that pf iPhones and iPads. This is not what I paid good money to own a Mac Book Pro for....
Today I rolled all the back to Snow Leopard. Really good move...... All those new features hey? I lost the ability to work in spaces and of course the whole Quicktime debacle.
The rolling back process was easy, restored from a point prior to installing Lion and Mavericks and the only issue was my iPhoto libraries. Thank my stars that I still had back ups that I had not converted yet.... viva la Mavericks...NOT. Apple can keep it.
Unsure if you are just venting or if there is supposed to be a question here. Basically, I assumed this to be Apple's idea of an improvement. That is, I really believe the ProRes 422 codec is a better intermediate codec than the AIC codec but most of my old HDV camcorder family tapes were imported by iMovie (for compatibility with my wife's non-FCP computer configuration) and, like your content, is/remains stored as AIC/PCM MOV files. At first I thought this might be a generalized change affecting all QT X based apps but when I went to check the latest iMovie v10.0 update, became confused when I noted that AIC source files were not automatically updated to ProRes 422 and continue to play natively in the iMovie source media viewer.
I guess this is supposed to be a logical evoluption and we were supposed to have seen the "handwriting on the wall" dating back to when Apple's first released the free ProRess "player" ProRes 422 codec. Still, it would have been nice if Apple had given some warning during the last few years so users could plan and prepare for such a drastic change. For the moment, I am just thankful that AIC remains, at least temporarily, supported nativelyby the iMovie video editor under Mavericks. Thank goodness for small favors.

  • I purchased Aperture 3 about a year ago. I hardly use it because it is so slow.  If I uninstall the sample library, will that help the processing speed to edit pictures?  If so, how do I uninstall just the sample library?

I purchased Aperture 3 about a year ago.  I hardly use it because it's processing speed is so slow when editing pictures.  Can I uninstall the sample library to increase the processing ability of the program? If so, how do I do that?  I need simple instructions because I am not a professional at knowing how to do this.

Aperture is a hardware hog. Unfortunately your iMac  has a weak processing unit and relatively weak graphics, both of which are important for Aperture performance. Your iMac will never run Aperture particularly well; it may or may not be adequate for your needs.
I ran Aperture with weak hardware (2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo 2006 Macbook Pro, 3 GB RAM) for years. It was tolerable because I also used a Mac Pro for heavy editing work. With weak hardware we need to optimize everywhere we can. I suggest:
    • Do not bother running Aperture until you add RAM.
    • Before each Aperture session restart the Mac to clear possible memory leaks, and run only Aperture by itself unless you have 6 GB or more RAM on board.
    • Drives slow as they fill so verify that all hard drives are no more than approximately 70% full as a guideline. Even less full is better.
    • Keep the Library size reasonable by using a referenced-Masters workflow with Masters on external drives. Back up originals before import into Aperture or any other images app.
    Good luck!

  • After modifying, where does the original go?

On my previous computer I was making digital scrapbooks and I imported the completed scrapbook pages into iPhoto. I decided to crop a piece to use in a slideshow, but I wanted to keep the whole pic in the library. I had to re-import the pic to iPhoto in order to have the original back. Is there a way to "save as" when I crop a photo so that I will have both?
    Thanks for the help!

iPhoto always saves the original and at any time you can revert to it (select the photo and use the revert to original command under the photos menu)
If you want both the original and the modified version in your library then duplicate the photo prior to editing

  • Where's the original?

I just removed some spots from a photo in the Development module using the "Spot Removal" tool. It worked great, but I'd like to see the original, because I'm told LR2 is non destructive. I went back to the Libary module, but I don't see the original photo along with the adjusted photo. They seem to be stacked. How can I see the original? Thanks in advance. Spencer.

The only file you'll find is the original! You were applying parametric (metadata) edits to the original, which means that there were no pixels were altered as a result of your edits.
To see a before and after version go back to the Develop module and click on the Before / After button on the Toolbar.  The toolset will expand to give more options  (see screenshot).
Should you have a strong preference for seeing the original and edited view in the Library Grid view you can always create a Virtual Copy of the original then edit same in Develop module. When you go back to Library you will see the original and the edited copy (VC) .
