Where is the phone app?

Is there a phone app? It doesn't show on the sample screen. Looks like we'll have to carry both devices, making it a larger version of the iphone apps.

IPad and IPad mini are not phones other than for face timing with other iOS and OSX 10.8 devices (Well not out of the box - You can use VIOP to skype with an app)
If you like looking stupid with a huge device at your ear try a Galaxy Note !
As for apps we yes iPhone apps can scale or double (Reduced resolution) however many apps have specific iPad versions , and indeed some only work on the iPad format.

By default, it's in the Utilities folder. Once you find it, tap and hold it until the icon starts to wiggle. Drag it to where ever you would like it. Note that you can also access contacts through the Phone app.

After iOS 8 update, recent calls are no longer appearing and a count of -1 is showing in the phone app

After i updated to iOS8 , suddenly no call log is available in the phone app under recents.
Yet a number in red -1 appears on top of the recents section.
is this is a bug in the OS? how can it be solved?

If you have not set up iCloud backup or backed up using iTunes, all data on the phone was lost once it entered recovery mode.
Your only option is to restore it and start new.

I have 2 profiles , the one profile i did a search for " fingerprint scanner" and I tapped the the button that said fingerprint scanner under search. A dos window opened and the a Gui which helped me store my finger print and associate it with my ID. I went to the other profile and tried the same, the dos window comes up...no GUI. Where is the actual app ?

The tabs in the phone app are responding too late

After installing IOS 8.0.2 update on my iphone 5, all of the tabs in the phone app (including scrolling the contacts or dialing numbers) are responding too late.
All other apps are working as fast as they work before the update.

When browsing for a phone number in my contact list from the phone app, why do I have to browse through the 100's of contacts for which I just have an email address with no phone number?

You can browse for the name, or you can use the search feature available at the top of the contact list. To move to the top of the contact list and the search feature, select the status bar to go directly to the top of the list and the search option.

Microphone doesn't work for the phone app, but does for skype/heytell.

So, my iphone4 randomly decided it would stop using the microphone when I made calls. I've tried using headsets/speaker mode but that doesnt change the fact the mic makes a single click sound and then I cannot be heard. I've installed the latest firmware (4.3.3) and I've done a full factory restore/resync. Nothing works. It's bizarre that this only happens with the actual phone app though, as I can make calls with skype or be heard on heytell just fine and perfectly clearly. In fact, any app that uses the mic works, except for the phone app....

Yes, I also have this problem. From 14th May till now my iPhone rejects my voice in Phone calls and this Apple device switch off all phone functionality like as international support - it's reject everything from customer :-(

How to I start smart dialing in the phone app

I have set my company number in the smart dialing menu. But i can dial a "x" in the phone app. Which letter, number or sign I have to use as a prefix to start smart dialling?
My configuration:
Device: Blackberry Q5
OS: 10.2.1.2102

I'm asking, in all seriousness, why do you think your mother needs an iPhone? Honestly, if your mother is, as you described her, a technophobe, I would recommend against getting an iPhone or any other smartphone. I've spent a fair bit of time teaching older folks to use smartphones. If they are interested in learning, it's fine. If they have the phone because their kids or grandkids thought it was a good idea but they are afraid of the phone or not interested in its features, it doesn't go well at all.
Many basic phones have voice dialing. Obviously, it doesn't do all the things Siri does but it may be much less intimidating for your mom. Also, basic phones have hardware keys. Even someone with limited vision can learn the keyboard on such a phone. From the sound of your first post, all she will be doing is making phone calls.

The delete key or backspace key is all that there is on a MacBook. It functions as a backward delete. If you want to use a forward delete, you need to hold down the fn (function) key in the bottom left of your keyboard and hit the delete or backspace key. For a more functional or normal approach for heavy writing, I might suggest an external keyboard with the forward delete key in place. -GDF

Apple please please please fix it as soon as possible and also check why the phone is always restart. I prefer to let us use the iOS 7 until you finished from the IOS 8 because Ios 8 still under construction there is a tones problems in the system. And this Will cause undirect problem for the iPhone 6

Where is the clock App. More than ever I could use this right now as I am in Ohio and my wife is in Sydney, Australia.
Did Apple forget to include this, seems very odd that it doesn't exist.

You can use Safari to find the time for anyplace in the world. In the Google search bar you type:
What time is it in London?
What time is it in Washington D.C.? etc...etc...ect...

I know it doesn't look fancy or replaces the snooze alarm. It does tell the time.

Voicemails are a vital part of having a working phone. We do suggest that you look at the contact and then the number to make sure that it is *86. If you are needing to get your voicemails until then, please dial *86.

How to end a call when not in the phone app?

OS: 10.2.1
I like to multitask when on a call so after taking a call I might be inside another app or in the hub, basically anywhere except the phone app.
My trouble is.. how can I quickly end a call when I'm done?
Swiping up to exit the app I'm in, then pressing the button on the lower left to enter the phone app, then pressing the hang up button sometimes takes up to 5 seconds dependong on the speed of the phone at the time. Those five seconds of silence at the end of a call can be a little awkward.
Any faster way to just hang up a call when NOT in the Phone app?

You should see the phone icon on the bottom left with the call counter on it. Simply touch that to bring the phone app backup quickly and then hang up.
