Where is the red close button and green minimize button gone in safari?

Is it no longer possibble to minimize the window in safari?

Control-Command-F
Will Toggle back and forth from Full Screen mode.
Or you can move the mouse to the top of the screen to display the menu bar, Select the "View" Pull-down Menu, then "Exit Full Screen".

Hi - I'm not only having trouble waking up my MBP from sleep and having to restart repeatedly which is a pain in itself, but now when it restarted, I have these black boxes surrounding things, e.g., there is a black box around the red "close" button on the upper left corner of this page. There is also an oblong resizable black box sitting on top of anything. The content changes depending on the actions I take. Right now it says, "You are currently on a close button. To click this button, which closes the current window, press Control-Option-Space." Right now I'm open in Firefox, but it doesn't matter if only Finder is open, it's still there. I've tried closing all my applications and restarting and I also reset the PRAM. It won't go away. It's probably something simple, but I don't know how to get rid of it. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks so much. I saw this on "desktop strangeness" immediately after I posted and tried to retract my question. It worked perfectly. I'm not sure how VoiceOver got turned on unless something happened when I was trying to wake up the computer. I open the lid and it flashes whatever is open and then the screen goes black and I can't wake it up. Still looking for the resolution to this.

How to bring back the black dot on the red close button for edited/unsaved files?

I've ticked the box for "Ask to keep changes when closing documents" System Preferences / General. I'm operating within Mac OS 10.8.4 (Mountain Lion).
When I make changes to an open file in most every program, a black dot appears on the red close button in the top-left corner of the file's window. This convention goes back a decade to early Mac OS X, as I recall.
However, I don't see this behavior in a few applications lately, such as Xcode 4.6.3 or QuickTime Player 10.2.
Anyone know how to bring this functionality back?

What happened to the "DECLINE" button for incoming calls? All I get is Remind Me, Message and Slide to Answer. Where is the RED DECLINE button?

@gkovach - Have you tried resetting your phone, Hold both Home and Power buttons down until the Apple logo appears and wait for phone to reset itself.
If this doesn't help you can try resetting all settings, Settings => General => Reset => Reset All Settings. You won't lose any apps, data, music, photos, etc. But you will have to go back in and reset all the setting that you changed from the factory defaults.

Where has the "More Printers" button gone?

I work with EFI Colorproof XF and typically install the printer through the Unidriver option by choosing "More Printers" in the "Print & Scan" system preferences pane. Running two MacPro's, one had the printer installed before upgrading to Mountain Lion, the other did not. I need to add the printer to the other machine but have no "More Printers" button. I'm feeling really silly, but can I make it come back or has the access point moved to a new location?

I believe the More Printers button is provided by the printer driver installer, in your case the Colorproof software. I also believe that support for More Printers was ended with Lion, so you would need to check with EFI about the procedure for adding this software on Mtn Lion.
You could also try adding the Advanced item to the the toolbar and then opening this to see if you get a protocol entry related to the Colorproof software.

Where has the webpage forwards button gone?

Does anybody know whats happened to the webpage forward button. Is there a way to make it available? Or has it been done away with?

I click on firefox but a dead tab shows up and I cannot find home page and it won't go away by pressing the red close button. What can I do to restore my tabs?

My tabs are all disappeared behind a link I opened which is blank and dead, and I cannot close it to restore my tabs or get to any website other than this dead link... Help!

When closing Firefox (v:3.6.13), using the red "close" button, the firefox.exe process remaines at top of the "Windows Task Manager" window and continues to use the majority of CPU time.

After an attempt to close the Mozilla Firefox page, on every occasion, the firefox.exe process is found at the top of the list when ordering the listed 'processes' by CPU time... even though the web page is gone.
If an attempt is made to restart Mozilla, the system declares that the current Mozilla process should be closed.
If the firefox.exe process is explicitly closed in the Task Manager, only then can Firefox be restarted.

Does that also happen if you use File > Exit Firefox?

Where has the new tab button gone?

Hi guys! I'm using the latest version of Firefox. I bought a new laptop today and synced everything from my old laptop and everything is exactly as it was. However, one difference I do notice is that I am now no longer able to create a new tab by clicking to the right of a tab as the little + button has disappeared.
Can anyone help with this? I also have an annoyingly large chunk of blank in the URL bar that wasn't on my old laptop either.

A short-term workaround is to use Ctrl+t to open a new tab...
Some extensions can interfere with the user interface. To rule out extensions as a possible culprit, could you try browsing for a bit in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions, some advanced features, and some custom settings. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* (menu bar) Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Note: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox closes, a small dialog should appear: click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)

There also are some plugins that do not work well with the change in Firefox 30+ to require your permission for each site you access. You can modify how pages are allowed to use plugins on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. On the right side, for plugins that seem as though they need to run globally, such as fingerprint-related authentication or security scanning, switch the setting from "Ask to Activate" to "Always Activate". You might need to exit Firefox and start it up again (or at least launch a new window using Ctrl+n) before this takes effect.

Where has the copy query button gone to in BEx Anlayzer 7.0?

In BEx Analyzer 3.5, there is a copy query button under tools. It allows you to copy query within a workbook to another sheet.
I can't find this button in BEx Analyzer 7.0.
Any idea on how to get this copy query button back?

A good workaround is the "Add Drilldown According to..... in New Worksheets" context menu selection. Once you have your worksheet/report the way you want it, from the navigational panel with free characteristics, choose a field that has one or two values in it (you can put in filter values to do this, ie 2 calendar years). Right click and choose the entry "Add drilldown according to...". This will create new worksheets for every value contained in the infoprovider for that characteristic (hence the need to apply a filter). The new worksheets will be a replica of sheet one, filtered by and named by the characteristic values you've chosen.
From there you can continue to filter, drilldown, etc.

Where's the "Log Out" button gone? I need to log out NOW in order to access my other in-box - URGENTLY!

When you make changes, it would be helpful to provide an option NOT to accept them, or at very least, a flag that tells you how to perform the operation that was previously easy.
This worked fine with the "message priority" arrows, but the loss of this button has more profound implications for me at this time as I am expecting very important information on an email address that I can no longer access.

There is nothing wrong with that.
It is actually working as expected. That means that, as long as you have iTunes Match on, you can download any music from your device so you don't have the need to sync with your computer.
However, if you want to force some music to be stored in your device, turn off iTunes Match in your device:
Settings > Music > turn off iTunes Match

Red close button quits application now

This morning, I found the red close button does not hide app, but quit app.
It worked well so far, does anyone know how to fix it?
What I have done recently.
upgraded 10.8.2 two days ago
upgraded VMware fusion from 4.1.3 to 5.0.1
checked all system setting, but could not find how to fix it.
I like the hide feature and get used to it.

Red (close) button becomes dark and windows does not close

Sometimes when I click the red (close window) button, it becomes darker and the window does not close, and the app seems inactive. I have to click the title bar (sometimes many times, the lag time to ) and the windows can close, or it can come back with the red button "normal". Very annoying when I have to close many specific windows as it completely breaks the flow of activities.
Mail seems to be a application where it happens often, but it happens also with safari, omnifocus...
Any idea how to fix this?
I use a trakpad/MBA mid 2011 OS X 10.9.4

I am unable to remove imported photos from the iPad. The red delete button does not come up and synching did not help. Any ideas

I am unable to delete photos that have been imported from a camera. The red delete button does not appear and synching with the photos ticked and then unticked does not work either. I have also tried attaching the iPad to the PC and looking for the photos using windows file management. However the only photos that I can find are those taken by the iPad itself. I am confused about why something that should be simple is not.

If photos were synced from your computer then they can't be deleted directly on the iPad, you will need to remove/de-select them from where you synced it from on your computer and re-sync.

They should be right there on the page, but if you don't see them, reset the phone and try again (hold down the home and power buttons until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears, then let go).
