Where is the Restore button????

I've had nothing but problems with my Ipod Shuffle.
I read the article on restoring the **** thing, but the article says there is a restore button? Where is it?
Thanks for any help.
Chip

Windoze users are always finding 'other ways' to do things with and to the Shuffle; this frequently, IMHO, leads to undesired consequences.
Prior to iTunes 7, Restoring the Shuffle (or any iPod) was done through the iPod Updater programs which were periodically released. Specific instructions on how to Restore are contained in your iPod Shuffle User's Guide and are also discussed and explained as the fifth of the "Five R's" you see on the iPod Shuffle Support Page.
In iTunes 7 it changes a bit, as updating of the iPod is now handled from within iTunes itself. With the shuffle playlist selected in the Source column, you will see a tabbed display in the view window: Settings and Content, or words close to that. The Settings selection, roughly equivalent to the old iPod Preferences, is where you now find the updating and restoring commands.

I start up itunes (updated, downloaded this morning)
    I plug in ipod
Then i click on my ipod in the source list
I then see all my music appear in a long greyed out list
AND, where is the summary tab? What is the SUMMARY TAB?
Where is the restore button? It is NOT there.
    Really!
Can someone screen dump me itunes with the restore button present, so i can actually see that it does exist?!?!?!!?

    (but still love my ipod!!!!)

I have iTunes 6.0.5 and I have the iPod updater on the Start menu under iPod.
    Start>iPod>iPod Updater
Presumably intalled with the iTunes software?

  • Where is the Restore button for iCloud?

I've safely backed up my iPad to the cloud but don't seem to be able to find the Restore button in case I have to do a restore.
    Grateful if someone can help.
    I'm using IOS5 on my iPad 2.

You have a very good question and this is something that I wondered about as well. There is no button in the settings to restore from iCloud. That would be too easy. So much of the stuff that you have to do on iDevices is sort of o"one thing leads to another" type logic. Bold type was copied from the user guide book from the iBooks Store.
You can use iCloud or iTunes to restore iPad from a backup.
Restore from an iCloud backup:  Reset iPad to erase all settings and information. Sign in to iCloud and choose Restore from a Backup in the Setup Assistant. See Reset.
Restore from an iTunes backup:  Connect iPad to the computer you normally sync with, select iPad in the iTunes window, and click Restore in the Summary pane.
When the iPad software is restored, you can either set it up as a new iPad, or restore your music, videos, app data, and other content from a backup.
For a company that claims that it "just works right out of the box" and "we don't want the user to have to think about how it works" a lot of the issues are really not very clear to me.
Bottom line, apparently you would have to Erase All Content and Settings on the device and then sign into iCloud and choose Restore. Where do you sign into iCloud??? Well if you have Googled this - apparently the "start up" screen appears on the iPad - just like the new ones now come out of the box - and that is where you sign.
Does that seem intuitive to you? If there is a button in iTunes and there are buttons for every other darn setting on the device - could one have not been put on the device for this???
Frankly I just don't get Apple reasoning sometimes. Maybe I'm too dumb for this stuff anymore.

  • Where is the restore button in iTunes

I cant see it anywhere, even when i clock on my iPod nothing is coming up, except a list of everythin thats on it and you cant do anything on that page...help!

What version of iTunes are you using? In iTunes 7 if you click on the iPod icon when you are connected to iTunes that should bring up the preference tabs in the main pane on the right. The restore button is on the first tab which is called Summary. If you are using iTunes 6 then the iPod is restored using the separate iPod Updater program:
Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7
Restoring iPod to factory settings with iPod updater

  • HT201441 Where is the "restore" button located please

    In itunes that is!

    Hello nsoulerjim,
It sounds like you are trying to restore your phone, but cannot find the restore button. This article will help you perform this action named:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
    Before you restore your device
Make sure you’re using the latest version of iTunes.
Use iTunes to back up your device and transfer and sync any additional content to your computer.
Turn off Find My iPhone in Settings > iCloud on your device to disable Activation Lock.
    Restore your iOS device
Connect your iOS device to your computer using the cable that came with it.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes. In the Summary pane, click the Restore button for your device.
Click Restore again to confirm that you want to restore your device to factory settings and delete all data and content. iTunes will download the iOS software file and restore your iOS device.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

I have java installed and properly working as a plug in. Why can I not get into Yahoo games and play Card Games? Where is the firefox button when I have the browser open? Only button that looks like anything for firefox allows me to restore, move, size, minimize, maximize, and close. That button is top left hand corner location.

I recently purchased a second hand new macbook air, although it was second hand to me the previous owner had never actually turned it on.
Something doesn't make sense here, though I'm not saying the previous owner is lying....

  • DELIMA~How to RESTORE when I can't get to the RESTORE button?????

Something's messed up, I hook on my Classic and it simply keeps "syncing".
I can move about in the iTunes pages, but cannot click on the iPod. So how the heck can I RESTORE if I can't get to the page with the RESTORE button?
(BTW...the thing started messing up when I downloaded something called the OverDrive Media Console to download audiobooks from my local library...everything started going crazy up at that point, so beware.)
    Thanks for your help.

Thanks, somehow I got to the iPod tab but when I try to restore, it just freezes when I hit the button asking if I want to restore even though it's syncing.
I've been fooling with this for hours. I reinstalled iTunes, nothing changes. I got an error message that "Window's Delayed Write Failed" and then aother time Error 1418.
I am so lost, and don't know where to turn now.
