There are several threads about that (hundreds of messages).

  • "Could not complete the Save As command because there is not enough memory (RAM)"

I'm trying to save a file and an error keeps popping up saying ""Could not complete the Save As command because there is not enough memory (RAM)". I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended. I have no other windows open. I checked the RAM allocated to Photoshop, in the Preferences > Performance tab, and I have tried it at 60% (980 MB) and 90% (1483 MB), still with no luck. I tried Purging the undo, clipboard and history with no help either.
I read a couple of other posts that were similar to this and people suggested " resetting the preferences as described in the FAQ." but is there any way to do this without closing Photoshop?
I can't loose this file, so any help woudl be appreciated.

I'm sorry to hear it locked up on you, and with only a GIF saved (which is probably useless).  Perhaps I should have suggested Select All / Copy first.
As far as what went wrong...  It might be helpful to know some of the specifics:
What operating system are you running?
Do you see any errors in the Windows error logs corresponding in time to this problem, and if so, what are the specifics?
Do you have Photoshop updated to 12.0.3?
What video card do you have, and do you have updated video drivers?
Is OpenGL enabled in Edit - Preferences - Performance?
What kinds of operations did you do since you started the session of Photoshop that ultimately went bad?
What other applications were you running?
What kind of computer is it (specifically, can you install more RAM)?
It might not be possible to pinpoint just what went wrong, but perhaps we could make some general suggestions that might help.

  • Where did the "save as" feature go?

I just opened up a Pages document, after my Lion upgrade.  I want to use the orginal document, make changes and save as a new document.  However, when I clicked on "File" to go to the "Save As," I discovered it is no longer there.  Where is the "Save As" feature now.  This is, obviously, a crucial need.

In most cases, though, you don't need a separate file.  Just make a Version with Cmd+S.
Much faster, and takes up much less space, since it only saves the changes, not the whole document.
As a work machine processing files, folders, and graphics, in many cases I do, everyday.
Changing file name and format and still have the original to work with.
    Seems crazy to me.

Create a one word pdf file. Try converting to word. If that fails, try a complete uninstall, run the cleaner tool, then re-install.

  • The Where in the save as dialog box

The Where in the save as dialog box is frustratingly limiting is there a way to change this so I can browse to the folder I want?

I recommend you get Default Folder.   I've considered it a must have utility for my systems since OS9 Classic days.  It greatly helps in navigation for the ever deficient file dialogs in OSX (and OS9).

  • Saving 0% 'Could not complete the save as command...'

    Hi,
    I keep running into this issue on my Mac Pro (Mountain Lion 10.8.4 - 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 16GB 1066 MHz DDR3 - 2013) in Photoshop CS6 13.0.5.
I have just finished working on a file and saved the .PSD
The only problem is it appears to be stuck at 0%.
The filename in the current document photoshop tab is followed by '-Saving 0%'
If I try and save the file again via 'Save as' I get the following message:
'Could not complete the Save As command because the document is currently being saved in the bavkground. pleae try the operation again after the save has been completed'
Any ideas how I can force this to resume saving or am I about to lose hours of work?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Mike,
I have no other apps running, the only thing using CPU in Activity Monitor is Photoshop at 1%. I currently have 6GB of RAM free and 100+ GB of hard disk space. There is also 100GB free on my scratch SSD for photoshop.
What do you mean by dismount server? I'm not currently connected to any networks and have unplugged all external disks just incase.
How long will it take to 'error out'? It's been over 30 mins now
I didnt switch apps during the save, I wasn't actually doing anything else at all.
As far as I know this isnt a background save because I went to file - save as. Or do you think this has conflicted with a background save?
I also just made a new document and saved that as a .PSD without any problems. The other is still stuck at 0%.
    Thanks for your help

  • When will the "SAVE AS" command return?  In Lion have to "Duplicate" then rename, then reopen new document

When will the 'SAVE AS" command return, or is there a work aroiund the "Duplicate", rename, then reopen new document procedure that is now in Lion / Pages.  I just want my old save as command back.

    Roger,
What Peter said, plus, you're making it sound worse than it is. You Duplicate, work on the duplicate and when you're done working on it, you save it.
After Duplicating, both copies are open until you do something with them.
You can continue to edit both or you can close one of both of them.

  • Where is the terminal "last" command getting it's information from?

I searching for the information that the terminal "last" command holds.
When I execute the "last' command...... I am seeing too little to be real..... something is up..... I need to determine when the information was deleted.
What log file is the last command using? In Mt. Lion, in Lion, in Snow Leopard?
    Thanx for your help

For those who are reading this, this is about a Mt. Lion system with current patches 10.8.3
Thank you for the reply and the pointer to the audit directory.
I am continuing to ponder why last at the terminal is given unexpected behavior. I am now noticing the history in last is only for the "last" - no pun intended - 24 hours or there abouts on one of my systems. In the audit directory there are many more entries

I have gone an gotten the source code for last at the BSD project but Im' not a c programmer and apple's version is a branch or so it seems to me cause they've got to be different and I'm not sure where to configure last or how to better understand what I'm seeing.
Anyone care to help me understand what could be going on?

  • Where did the "Save As" choice go under File in the menu bar?

Running recently installed Lion OS with iWork '09 on my Intel iMac there is no "Save As" under File menu.  Where did it go? What do I do instead?  Also iWork '09 Apple Training Series book says Keynote Custom Themes created should be backed up and will be found in Macintosh HD> Users> [your home folder]> Library> Application support> iWork> Keynote>  Themes. There is no Library folder in my home folder!  There used to be.  Where could it have gone? Where *are* the Keynote themes hiding? They come forth from somewhere when called for.  And I'm having no success in finding them via Spotlight either.

Well, if you want to Save as a PDF, that's a different issue: simply go to File > Print. In the Print window, go to the bottom left and click on PDF, then on save as PDF..... give it a name and place where you want to save it:
If you want to save in a format other than PDF, choose Export and you'll have several choices (including PDF as well).
